Parents Outraged Over Westboro Baptist Protests at Justin Bieber Concert

Justin Bieber left many young girls breathless before and during his sold-out show at the Sprint Center Wednesday, but there was also another group outside the venue that riled parents up.

Sick people who give anti-Christian nuts ammo to use against regular folks.

Will_Antonin   July 29th, 2010 - 10:28 am

As a Christian for quite a while now, I have to say: I've NEVER heard anything from any church, any pastor, any fellow Christian anywhere that comes close to what this Westboro Baptist "Church" says. I've never heard or seen anything that even intimates agreement with what these folks are doing.

Anyone with even a cursory understanding of Christian scriptures would know that these folks are acting outside the parameters of our holy text. There is no jihad in Christianity. And Christ himself would not behave this way.

They are, in a word and as far as I can tell from what I've read and seen, a cult. And I hope they repent one day soon.

That media outlets continue to give them a platform only makes them stronger. This, I suspect, is the point for many in our Mainstream Media who wish to marginalize Christians as hateful, intolerant, and ignorant.

DontTreadOnMe   July 29th, 2010 - 5:30 pm

WBC is causing a lot of harm to it's parishioners and community.
If they weren't so self-centered they would start to see that.

jodark   July 29th, 2010 - 5:31 pm

Frankly, I think they are justified in this circumstance. I hope they follow him around the country. They would actually be performing a useful service.

I don't recall all this crap going on when the Beatles came on the scene..

NewBlackPamper   July 29th, 2010 - 5:54 pm

These are not Christians. These are radicals anti-Christians who, in an attempt to claim legitimacy, call themselves Christians, but act like idiots. All Christians condemn this behavior, so don't let anyone let you believe that these nuts are Christians.

They're just playing the role-reversal game.

imsailing2   July 29th, 2010 - 5:59 pm

Ya, these guys have about as much to do with Christianity as……..

….Biden has to do with brains, as

…..Congress has to do with common sense, as

……Obama has to do with a strong economy, as

……Rangle has to do with ethics, as

……Frank has to do with chastity, as

…….Pelosi has to do with liberty

Why does the TEA PARTY/WESTBORO Hate Beiber? Is it his hair ???

flyright66   July 29th, 2010 - 11:19 am

Westboro actually came to Las Vegas last year and were going to 'protest' outside our real church. We got wind of it through a website that leaks where these whack jobs will be and our wonderful LV Metropolitan Police Department was hanging out nearby….it just so happens that due to the traffic permits we have, they had to be down the street in front of apartments and couldn't even get near our church….pretty funny! It looked like they were protesting apartment living….divine humor!

vwhizbang   July 29th, 2010 - 6:20 pm

I dont know… why does the democrat party / socialists hate capitalism? Is it the freedom of choice? Or is the freedom to fail?

Remember this liberal… Justin Bieber is a just little kid with a bad haircut and has already figured out a way to make a living without asking Uncle Obamy for a hand out!

I love it! Liberal adults cry that life isnt fair and that they need the government to take care of them. Bieber steps out into this dog eat dog world of ours, sells a product to a market audience and and becomes successful! Way to go Justin! I hope you sell a million more records. Show those liberals that anyone can make it in America!

I am not a fan of his music. I am a fan of his ambition and drive. Capitalism rocks!

Nodhimmi   July 29th, 2010 - 6:57 pm

Your last statement sums it up well. The MSM platforms these idiots to make all Christians look stupid. It works well. This is how many leftists and secular Americans perceive Christains, especially Baptists and many other protestants. It's no accident, just an old commie tactic.

Phelps has run in various Kansas Democratic Party primaries five times, but has never won. These included races for governor in 1990, 1994, and 1998, receiving about 15 percent of the vote in 1998.[53] In the 1992 Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate, Phelps received 31 percent of the vote.[54] Phelps ran for mayor of Topeka in 1993[55] and 1997.[56]"

SunnyJ52   July 29th, 2010 - 10:34 pm

As a child of the 50's and 60's I can tell you that when Elvis appeared on Ed Sullivan they blacked out the screen from his waist down and the beatles long hair (by 60's crew cut standards, remember) was indeed a sign that the sky was falling. (I can still see my dad shaking his head in disgust while the Beatles bobbed their heads of hair to the music…now that is a funny memory, God Bless him.)However, you are correct that opposition was not conducted like this. It was parents to children, 1:1, keeping you home, turning off the TV, not giving you the money to buy the records etc. What this self declared "church" is doing, is in a catagory all its own.

LaffinatLeftist   July 29th, 2010 - 10:38 pm

LedZeppelin   July 29th, 2010 - 11:03 pm

Could be. Quite a few leftists are homosexual, and vice versa. Lets look at some history of the gay rights movement and its relationship to communism in America. The Mattachine Society, founded in 1950 by Harry Hay and a group of male friends to protect and improve the rights of homosexuals. Because of concerns for secrecy and the founders’ leftist ideology, they adopted the cell organization of the Communist Party. And they endorsed progressive candidates, not surprisingly. Mattachine was not THE first, but was most notable. There was one for lesbians as well. The gay rights movement is one of the many "victim groups" representing the left's agenda of divide and conquer. It is useful for garnering the support of white men and white upper middle class urbanite soceity to the leftist camp.

LedZeppelin   July 29th, 2010 - 11:04 pm

They do know that. That's what they exist for. To harm Christians and conservatives in the public forum. They are a leftist provacateur group.

itreeye   July 29th, 2010 - 11:09 pm

The head of the Westboro "church" is a registered Democrat. (But I think you know that this cult has nothing to do with a tea party., you are just trying to continue to disseminate a negative cultural perception in the ether about the tea party movement. …am I right? ;-)
Also, did you know that the KKK was started by Democrats? Did you know if near any college kid read a JFK speech without knowing who wrote it, they would guess it was written by a Republican? There are no more true Liberals in the Democratic party. It has been taken over by Leftists.

I just love sticking it to leftists and Democrats. So here's a good one. Betcha never hear THIS on MSNBC. Fred Phelps, pastor of WBC is a Democrat and has always been a Democrat. Just like Senator Robert Byrd, former exalted cyclops of the Klu Klux Klan in Virginia, was a Democrat.

Phelps has run in various Kansas Democratic Party primaries five times, but has never won although he got a lot of votes. These included races for governor in 1990, 1994, and 1998, receiving about 15 percent of the vote in 1998.[53] In the 1992 Democratic Party primary for U.S. Senate, Phelps received 31 percent of the vote.[54]
Phelps ran for mayor of Topeka in 1993[55] and 1997.[56]

Phelps supported Al Gore in the 1988 Democratic Party primary election, because of Gore's anti-gay stance at that time. Gore has since flip flopped, and Phelps no longer supports him.

You're mentioning The Chairman of the Board and the King of Rock and Roll anywhere near that manufactured tweeny-pop fraud Bieber?

Suffice to say, my assertion did not indicate that I came to the same conclusion as the Westboro for the same reasons they did. Fortunately, by the time my little daughter is old enough to fall victim to fad phenomena like Bieber, he'll be the subject of Lief Garret style "Behind the Music" documentaries on VH-1.

selfthink   July 31st, 2010 - 1:22 am

LMAO is for chat stupid. Yes, you lost the debate. Your opinion has all the well-thought-out depth of a 5-year old in a checkout line. There are rules in play here – we call them laws. Westboro was recently allowed to protest directly adjacent to a cemetery where a military funeral was being held because of the law. They were able to directly disrupt the service, which is unfortunate for the family of the deceased. In this case in LV, the law bit them in the ass and caused them to have to protest in a place where their impact was greatly diminished. They can protest all they want, but they gotta go by the rules, just like the rest of us.

I see the Rightwing are trying to say Phelps is a Democrat. Of course this is false Phelps may try to call himself a Democrat but he is a Republican and the proof is he has the same opinions as Pat Robertson a Republican and Jerry Falwell who was a Republican.

If Phelps got any votes it was from Racist Dixiecrats who are now Republicans and Rightwing Theocrats who are Republicans.

GodFear   July 31st, 2010 - 7:37 am

It starts somewhere. You don't think these kids are not going to want to hit up concerts later on in life. Do you know what are at these types of events. Ah and I guess you think teens idolizing justin is ok as well? Did you see how the teen girls was acting? What do you think that teaches them? Self respect? Hardly not. I'm also guessing you think teens don't engage in sex as well? This kind of stuff just begs to make teenage girls turn into sluts and get into a drug type life.

These people are not out selling Godly ways. They are selling worldly ways. That way is always a way of destruction and misery. All backed by Disney no less.

One day you'll understand…

MondayC   July 31st, 2010 - 6:15 am

With a name like GodFear, I'd expect you to say something that hack James Dobson would say. My wife had years of experience with the hardcore partiers (cocaine, ecstasy, etc) through her psychologist job. While teens who drink in high school have a higher chance of alcoholism in the future, it's actually the kids with repressive parents that more likely turn out to be the drugged-up partiers.

With my job, I go to a ton of concerts, "Godly" and "worldly" alike. The Justin Bieber concert was probably more toned down than the Skillet Christian rock concert.

GodFear   July 31st, 2010 - 8:30 am

well i would agree repressive parents could cause issues of a child getting a "trapped" feeling.

However don't confuse the teaching of morals with parents who don't know what they are doing.

If you think just because someone puts "Christian" in it's name makes it Godly, your dead wrong. Don't try to put a label on something you don't know about. The very fact you tried to put me in a category of "repressive parents" and label other rock concerts as something to be called Godly, shows you don't know that there is true Christians doing it truly God's way.

Yes I understand there is many (maybe 85 – 90%) of Christians not doing it the way the Bible teaches. Just don't confuse the two. There are Christians who do things right. Just don't stereotype us please.

I could also show many very respectful well behaved kids and teenagers who don't feel "repressed" who do it God's way. I've always loved how people like yourself think that if a child doesn't get to go do "worldly" things they some how miss out. There is a difference between brain washed and educated of things of this world.

Do you have a daughter? I'm just wondering if you do because you sound like a person who gives all kinds of advice to people but never having a daughter yourself might not know how it is. It's different when you have to worry about the mental well being and safety of your own daughter.

You sound like a guy who would tell me to my face I need to let my daughters go to a rock concert. But maybe you like women who give up sex easily, lose women and what not. Maybe your the kind of guy who would mentally attack women to get what you want (sex) out of them. I don't know you, but I could easily put a stereotype on you and say all guys like you are pigs. So you live your life like you want and raise your kids like you want, and you can learn to respect others for the beliefs they have. That would be a great starting point for you. To learn and respect the rights and freedoms of others.

GodFear = God Respect

MondayC   August 1st, 2010 - 4:28 am

Well I wasn't calling for the state-mandated Justin Bieber concert day, but if my daughter wanted to see Bieber in concert, I'd ask her who she's going with and most likely let her go. I know just about all my daughter's close friends and i think every parent should make that a goal. You can say that live pop music will turn into a cocaine lifestyle and while that ridiculous opinion is freedom of speech, you're on an Intensedebate message board full of other people with freedom of speech to tell how crazy you are. Your whole argument is based on a slippery slope fallacy, with the only alternative path to the downward spiral being a lifestyle permitted by God. If Skillet is too devil-inspired, I'm almost afraid to ask what God's way is. Hymnals before an 8PM bedtime, 8:30 on the weekends?
Also, it's funny that you start off with "Don't try to put a label on something you don't know about," then your last paragraph is full of absurd assumptions about me.

GodFear   August 1st, 2010 - 6:00 am

Not quite, i wasn't putting a stereotype to you. I was referring to the fact you don't see how these things can mess with kids minds in the short and long term. You think you do, but your overlooking and down playing it. You think it's fine, all fun and games.. That she'll just have fun and then never think about it again, but the part you don't seem to understand is that ALL music in one way or another is character programming. Either by making an idol and worshiping them or by the music itself. Which will cause a person to act and think worldly ways. I'm not attacking any one song, the whole music business is like this now. Very few songs are "good" anymore and 95% of them isn't even worth listening to.

I'm willing to put money on it that you think something is evil. Either it be Bush or Obama, big business, BP, wars, you name it I'm willing to bet you think something is evil in this world. My reply to you on this would be, and you don't think evil would want to use music to get at young kids? Hitler did.

Then we go into what is the lifestyle? Just what is Justin doing? Does he have your child's best interest in mind? Or is it about making money. Don't kid yourself Disney is in the business of exploiting kids for profit. It's only a matter of time before they have ten year old kids doing bikini contests oh wait, they already do! but I'm sure that might be ok with you as well. Just where would you draw the line? When do you see it as evil? Ever thought that someone besides yourself can see evil before you taking place? Or are you just "tha man" and know all concerning Good and Evil?

I'm not pretending I know all, I know people who know more than I do. And I know what the evil of this world is up too. It ain't pretty and it will come from areas you never saw coming. Satan isn't some ugly horned demon, if you was to see him with your eyes he is the most beautiful, most powerful angel God ever created. Not sure if you know that, but satan will use things that seem so "innocent" to you to get at your children or yet, yourself.

And if you knew me, you wouldn't think the things of me you do, maybe I wouldn't of you as well, I'm only going on what you have said. And yea, I am a little old fashioned. I do like singing praise and worship of the one true God of Heaven. Some of them old Hymnals are the most beautiful songs ever.

And I'd be willing to put money on it you have sung a few Hymnals yourself. Ever sung Amazing Grace? How about the Star-Spangled Banner? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star-Spangled_Ba... Check out ALL of the words not just the 1st verse everyone knows. You think those founding fathers was old fashioned too? Maybe in your mind God has just went out of style. But if you love this country you might want to check out what the founding fathers really believed. Then ask yourself if they would of let their daughters go to a Justin Bieber concert and worship a man named Justin instead of the Lord God.

You might see it as Old Fashioned, But today Men of America are not men, they are babies. Thus why this country is falling apart because men won't be men and stand up and fight for what they believe in. (because what they believe in now days is evil) I and many in these forums are doing just that… Fighting for what is right. While other men go the path "if it feels good do it"… Forget where they came from and turn their backs on God.

This isn't the first nation in history to do just this. However modern you think you and this world is, nothing *really* has changed. It's all the same as it was 500 years ago or 2000 years ago. What has changed? You move around in a car rather than on horse? Man is still made of dust and water..Still sinful and still has a sin barrier between himself and God which Jesus Christ is able to remove. Nothing has changed but the minds of men about their Creator. One day you will meet him. I just hope it's on the right terms. John 3:16

"Without Christianity, this world would be Hell. Without sin, this world would be Paradise." – Jack Heckathorne
