Yes, walls can be good; it depends on their purpose and what they actually achieve. A wall of some sort on a flat roof is good for when people will likely be up there so they don't fall off the building. A wall is bad if it keeps people from entering an area which they have every right to enter. A wall keeping you from entering a legal place of residence would be bad. A wall keeping your neighbors from entering your property for your (and perhaps your family's) protection can be good. The Berlin Wall was meant to keep the oppressed people under control of the Soviet Union from leaving the horrific grasp of the government.

You may think Mexicans are free, but their government is oppressive. It's not simply poverty itself that drives many of them to leave their country, but also the fact that their government squashes their attempts to succeed. Many people in many other countries see the USA as a location to work hard and achieve success.

For your kicks and giggles, I'll explain what I meant by taking freedom away. Case in point, among the illegals who come across the Mexican-American border are members of the drug cartels. These cartels are trying to instill their own sense of authority and power in their various areas. This is leading to violence spilling into Arizona. What I said about attempting to take away freedom is not an accusation against every Mexican; it's a statement against the type of people who need to be kept away — criminals, people who are dangerous, etc. etc.. Criminals would bring the USA down, just like they bring down Mexico in standing.

There are Mexicans who come to the USA legally. There is no issue with those people. The fence isn't meant to keep legal immigrants out, and it won't. It'll just be a source of trouble for the illegal ones.

The problem with O’Reilly’s question, is that it is too simplistic. First of all, is 1100 inmates an anomaly or is it seen across other counties as well? 1100 inmates seems like a large number, but compared to what? If the county has 2 million inmates (not saying they do), then 1100 illegal inmates is nothing. How many illegals reside in that county. If there are 100,000 illegal immigrants, then 1100 would be about 1%. What are the illegals in for, murder, pot? If you have 1100 inmates in on possession charges as opposed to murder that would make a difference. Are there other counties with a high illegal population who don’t see a high inmate population? Why not use that county to set policy for dealing with illegals. I could go on all day.

The reason Ramos doesn’t answer O’Reilly’s question is because the question is meaningless without other information. Ramos is trying to put O’Reilly’s number in context, but O’Reilly insists Ramos come up with a policy based on one number of one county. O’Reilly is being intellectually dishonest and illogical.

Ramos is a liar to boot. The majority of Hispanics in this country don't support the lawsuit by the Federal Government, especially those in Arizona. But Ramos continued to lie. He also kept up his leftist talking point by calling illegal aliens "immigrants". Ramos needs his citizenship yanked and told to remove himself back to Mexico. Vicente Fox and his top adviser used the same talking points. Calderon is only more publicly verbal about his hate for America.

You say you want to debate, so try backing up your claim with proof. Use the text of the law to prove your claims.

The Federal lawsuite against Arizona doesn't even make that claim because they know deep down that it's not true and it won't stand up in court.

Crime overall is down because the economic situation has discouraged illegals from crossing; however, drug trafficing is up. Crime rates are based on arrests and convictions, keep that in mind, it doesn't account for illegal activities not being stopped. We can't count crimes that are "stopped or deterred" like the "saved or created jobs" lie.

This was a weak debate at best firstly because the two participants couldn't get on the same page. Ramos's perspective came from a global angle (entire U.S.); O'Reilly insisted on keeping it local & specific to one state (AZ) within the U.S. You can't debate effectively when the "premise" for discussion is so far apart. Both men are correct. Ramos when he cites the problem of 1,100 illegal immigrant criminals in AZ— that they represent a miniscule percentage of the entire group; specifically .0001% if you consider a (reported) 11 million who are actually present in this country. (Reality is closer to greater than 12.5 million)—- which makes the illegal immigrant criminal pool **1,100 in AZ** to be an even smaller sample. O'Reilly is right in defining the AZ law. The law requires that a person has to have been stopped for another offense before being questioned about their legal status in the state. Ramos is obviously concerned about racial profiling. Probably some of this will occur, since NO LAW works perfectly, smoothly, and without a hitch. He's being naive if he (Ramos) expects as much.

If someone is pulled over in a traffic stop and they do not have a drivers license, that's cause to ask for more identification, be it a green card, visa, state ID, military ID, etc.

If they come across a vehicle that has more passengers than the vehicle is designed for, they are all dirty and they are all speaking Spanish that is a huge red flag that they probably just came out of the desert form crossing the border, which would lead the police to ask for identification of everyone in the car.

Although we know Republicans are fighting against an eager media to also misrepresent the law—- at any cost—- Repubs in congress are doing NOTHING to change that errant perception. In a case such as this, immigration reform should REQUIRE, among many other restrictions, the completion of ESL curriculum course, ending with administration of & the satisfactory passing (82% or better) of a comprehensive oral & written proficiency exam in English. NO EXCEPTIONS! Repub leaders in congress can recruit assistance from local leaders, i.e., George P. Bush (Jeb's son), who is running the HRT (Hispanic Republicans of Texas), along with local organization leaders in the other 49 states.

Do you have any documentation stating what is permitted by the US or AZ constitution. What are the statutes in the US or AZ constitution regarding the use of race, color or national origin in law enforcement.

Well, I did a search of the AZ constitution and the US constitution, but was unable to find anything that limited the use of race, color, or national origin in law enforcement.

So, unless I missed something (which is possible), the AZ law does allow for the use of race, color and national origin in enforcing this law, since the limitations it puts on itself are apparently non-existent.
