Olbermann Would Choose Jail Over ‘This Perversion of Health Care Reform’

"No single payer? No sale. No public option? No sale. No Medicare buy-in? No sale. I am one of the self-insured, albeit by choice. And I hereby pledge that I will not buy this perversion of health-care reform. Pass this at your peril, senators. And sign it at yours, Mr. President. I will not buy this insurance. Brand me a law-breaker if you choose. Fine me if you will. Jail me if you must."

Congrats to all who have fought so hard on this.

I doubt Olbie would last ten minutes in a jail cell before blubbering like a baby, begging to be released.

But, I, too will refuse to abide by this H/C bill. No taxes paid, etc. Pelosi and her criminal allies WILL be prosecuted for treason one day.

RobbieK   December 16th, 2009 - 11:56 pm

I used to watch Countdown in the early part of this decade when Keith Olbermann was actually pretty entertaining and seemed to actually report the stories in an unbiased way. But he radically changed around 2004-2005, along with the rest of MSNBC and it is a pity. Keith could actually be a descent guy again and get to the bottom of shams in this country if he would just change and stop being a partisan b-hole now. I might even watch him again. Sorry, don’t slap me too hard!

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   December 16th, 2009 - 11:57 pm

America…what a perfect example of a patriotic comrade of the ultra left!

He has learned well how to be loyal to that which you hold as truths from “real” Americans fighting against what he is proclaiming as his mantra!

He is just one of the outstanding “mentally unstable” Democratzi media who lick the boots of the Nation of Islam’s Messiah!

You…Olberman…are a true patriot of the socialist/communistic/Islamic ‘mentally unstable’ Democratzi…congratulations!

A perfect reason why we are fighting so hard to rid our Republic of the Democratzi by at least voting out their so called leaders, then, hopefully, these slugs will also go away!

These radicals on the left crack me up. With the public option everything is good. Without it they hate it as much as everyone else. The Liberals and the democrats are now saying the same thing that the republicans have said all along. That this healthcare bill is garbage. Mandating people to buy insurance with or without a public option is just nonsence, not to mention unconstitutional. This bill should die now. Maybe they should take the good ideas that they purposefully left out of the bill and institute those. Maybe tort reform, malpractice lawsuit limits, and selling across state lines. Let the free market get into healthcare and see what happens. Prices drop when there is competition and the government stays out of everything. If people actually knew the real cost of a doctors visit or a surgery, maybe they would shop around for the cheaper prices. The problem is that nobody know the real costs and they don’t care. If you got insurance then to hell with price, just let insurance handle it.

Bruno   December 17th, 2009 - 12:26 am

district15   December 17th, 2009 - 12:30 am

Atta boy Olbermann . no single payer or a public option this is NOT a bill, burn and bury it with the rest who think it is . Next election DONT vote or if you do….. vote any 3rd party, these people with their LIES needs to be taught a lesson.

Keith's Mind   December 17th, 2009 - 12:37 am

Olbermann just wants to go to jail so he can get some of that Vaseline action from buba. He really doesn’t care about Obamacare. He just wants to feel a big black pile driving man sausage deep in his hairy reed hole.

the other drunk   December 17th, 2009 - 12:47 am

Screw him he’s a liberal!

Never were 5 words so terse and to the point.

Play the violins.

Olbermann is the living epitome of the Sondheim song Bring In the Clowns.

Go back to yelling “That one is out of here” to 4 hour old highlights of minor league home runs in So Dakota. What a moron! Screeching about evil corporations, yet drawing a paycheck from NBC a subsidiary of GE, that is the largest spender on lobbying and pork in the United States. I repeat, what a moron!

Gandhi's Fist   December 17th, 2009 - 1:06 am

85% of the population like their health insurance. Competition should be opened up so prices become competitive. A system should be put into place wherein critical health issues are covered for the uninsured, and finally, legal reform for physicians vis-a-vis malpractice insurance.

The thing is these are ideas put forth by the republicans. The dems don’t address anything other than picking the employed hard workers to pay for those who don’t with a nice thick layer of bureaucrats to boot.

Oh and Olbermann, you are a ultra left-wing, radically inclined Marxist propagandist. Obama is too.

But, puh-leez Luv; nobody believes that your rich, pimpled behind would prefer the same sub standard, rationed healthcare as is forced upon Cubans, Canadians, or Europeans. “Albeit by choice” Indeed. We all know that you have your own private physician on call ready to jet off to your side whenever your wittle head feels ouchie. But, cheer up Mr. grumpy face – you can always fly off to any socialist country you want when you feel the sickies coming on.

You’re not alone. We all plan to pay the fine, rather than purchase a commie insurance package. And we actually do have principles.

What a mess,on the left you have a bunch of cowards lead by Obama who turned out to be weak and naive. No wonder people run all over him.
Olbermann is right, the far right will call him names no matter what and the Republicans had no intention of working with him.

He should have come into office kicking azz and taking names. That would have give the right something to really name call about.

The right is bat &hit insane. They have allowed the tea baggers to take over the party.
We are screwed no matter what party wins in 2010 and 2012.

Rick   December 17th, 2009 - 7:47 am

I think it is funny that once congress talks about taking out the public option or a government run plan, all of a sudden the left hates the bill. I’ve always hated this bill, it is bad for this country… Period.

CaughtNTheCrosshairs   December 17th, 2009 - 7:47 am

Hey Kieth, I thought all those people who were protesting Healthcare Reform, were all deranged lunatics? There were no problems with these bills at all. Now that your Public Option is gone, all the sudden these bills will destroy the country?

Oh and Keith what happened to your assertion that there is no Liberal bias in the media. I take it this 11 minute rant on your part was a Bi-Partisan rant?

But Olbermann will not be jailed. Olbertmann will not be fined. He will be ignored, like the rest of the “reporters” on MSNBC, since no one is watching anyway. Why do these egotists think anyone cares what Keith Olbermann thinks about a bill before Congress> What are the odds that Olbermann has read the bill? Same as Reid and Baucus, I’ll bet.

This is pretty much the topper in deceit and fear mongering. ABC’s Karen Travers reports:

President Obama told ABC News’ Charles Gibson in an interview that if Congress does not pass health care legislation that will bring down costs, the federal government “will go bankrupt.”

The president laid out a dire scenario of what will happen if his health care reform effort fails.

If we don’t pass it, here’s the guarantee….your premiums will go up, your employers are going to load up more costs on you,” he said. “Potentially they’re going to drop your coverage, because they just can’t afford an increase of 25 percent, 30 percent in terms of the costs of providing health care to employees each and every year. ”

The president said that the costs of Medicare and Medicaid are on an “unsustainable” trajectory and if there is no action taken to bring them down, “the federal government will go bankrupt.”
“This actually provides us the best chance of starting to bend the cost curve on the government expenditures in Medicare and Medicaid,” Obama said.

Ed Lasky provides the necessary reality check:

Does he have any idea of the economic disaster he and his fellow Democrats are unleashing? Yet, he has the audacity to claim not passing it will cause the federal government to go bankrupt. Economic literacy – not something our brilliant president has. The government really won’t go “bankrupt.” It can just keep borrowing and spending and printing money. Besides, medical care costs are not going up 25-30% every year.
This might just be the stupidest thing Barack Obama has said yet.

One might wonder how spending at least $1.5 trillion over the next ten years is going to help keep the government solvent.

It might not be stupidity; just plain old fear mongering and lying. It shows how absolutely desperate the president is to get his health care reform bill passed

cs   December 17th, 2009 - 10:39 am

Has Barack Hussein Obama gone bonkers? How he could hold a straight face while telling Charlie Gibson of his predictions for the nation’s economy? Tying up our economic downfall to the healthcare “reform” bill is the flimsiest ever tried by anyone.

We are already bankrupt! Should Congress and the WH resident push this bill on the taxpayers, our deficit will increase two-fold. That is a given. Even the most naive adult knows the bill will not solve anything, it will just give those in government greater control over the rest of the population. No government program breaks even because the government does not have earnings! Period.

How did he do in Economics 101?

I am a Pagan-Conservative, I don’t believe that Christianity is a good religion nor do I believe that any religion is “good”. They all result in too much hypocritical judgement in my opinion. I do believe in God but not the God Christians believe in per-say. I feel that religion causes way too much “automatic judgement” especially. I follow Glenn Beck and Andrew Breitbart hardcore, they are my hero’s. I don’t like Islam for I believe and see that it is truly evil and abhorrant. The one thing I wish Christians would understand is that Pagans’ aren’t bad people or even heretical. If you’re a Christian, your ancestors were Pagan, so why go and disgrace your bloodline? Especially if you’re Irish, Scottish, Scandinavian, Italian, German- you get what I’m saying. Why hate the religion of old if you don’t understand it, because people are afraid of what they don’t understand. If they knew their ancestors were heathen, I’m sure they still would be anti-Pagan because people have loss their damn minds. All I’m saying is respect us because we are here! And lastly: We are on your side Conservatives and Republicans, we will go into battle with you! Just stop passing judgement on us and leave it for the Man upstairs!! Love and Happiness, Strength and Honor: The Pagan Poets and Heathen Heros’ Of America .

Glenn   December 18th, 2009 - 10:34 am

Does Olbermann know anything about how the health insurance business actually works? Does he know, for example, that Medicare denies twice as many claims as the big insurance companies? Does he know that every rating decision that insurance companies make has to be approved by the state it operates in? Does he realize that the mess we are in is the result of government intervention, not free market economics? Perhaps he should read my post on this. http://libertariancomment.com/why-just-federalize-health-care-how-about-food-too/

JerryC   December 18th, 2009 - 7:04 pm

What a complete buffoon. His staff does use a splendid thesaurus, but it is certainly wasted on Keith’s 13 viewers.

“The government will have no control over the cost of that product.” – Keith Olbermann

THAT is the buiggest joke of all, as if the government isn’t already knee-deep in making our current health care as expensive as it is. Besides, wasn’t it Mary L. in Louisiana who openly took the money and ran?
