Jon Scovell   February 24th, 2010 - 11:20 pm

Sorry to hear that Keith but didn’t the MSNBC CEO say that about your show because nobody heard this story!! Get a new job.

To Keith Overthetop   February 24th, 2010 - 11:23 pm

No offense (well, maybe a tiny bit), but if you were my son, I might ask the same–just for some RELIEF from your relentless INSUFFERABLE B.S.

cgray   February 24th, 2010 - 11:26 pm

It’s called karma.

Doug   February 24th, 2010 - 11:27 pm

Stop it, MSNBC!

STop this!

Angry Fletch   February 24th, 2010 - 11:27 pm

Truly sorry you had to go through that. Still amazed you have somehow twisted this around. I’m sorry, but your still despicable, scum. You want to be personable?? My Mother fought for 9 months and WANTED to fight every step of the way. You’re damning everyone to hell? That’s because you need people there with you. Wonder how long he’d have lasted in Cuba?

Vin   February 24th, 2010 - 11:28 pm

I will Pray for Mr. Olbermann and his son. Salvation first(if not already), Strength, Peace and Healing.

erp   February 24th, 2010 - 11:29 pm

If you were my son, I might make the same request.

Elektra   February 24th, 2010 - 11:32 pm

What a twisted freak!

Shiori   February 24th, 2010 - 11:33 pm

Keith – why are you using your Daddy in this way? You’re using your Father’s pain to decry the term ‘death panels’? What is wrong with you? Besides, it is not the government making your Father’s health decisions, it’s him and his family. That’s the point. How would you feel if some faceless bureaucracy was deciding your Dad’s fate or quality of care based on what is or is not cost effective? Please knock off the vitriol, muster some humility and just ask for viewers prayers for your Dad. He’ll be in my prayers tonight. God Bless him.

Joe Ryder   February 24th, 2010 - 11:34 pm

Overbite is despicable.

MiPain   February 24th, 2010 - 11:37 pm

My God man have you no honor? Intentionally mischarectorizing end of life discussion which no attending Physician would dream of forgoing due to inability to pay. Whith the proposed medical precedure effectiveness panels which would have cut your father off from care long ago. I pray for your fathers comfort and your salvation.

kmicheals   February 24th, 2010 - 11:39 pm

The KO freak show never ends. God damned loser twit.

Jon   February 24th, 2010 - 11:42 pm

Keith, I’m sure most sane people are sorry about your own personal struggle with life decisions, and with that I hope you father makes a full recovery. However I question your motives for sharing this personal story. Raw emotions are not a safe sounding board for making life altering decisions when faced with urgent hardships. Like you said, the conversation has to be made before their is a problem. Otherwise bad decisions are made too quickly to answer immediate threats. Like the TARP and Stimulus Bills.

I agree the United States needs to reform the health care, but I respectfully disagree with the President’s plan, and the Senate’s plan. Not any bill will do. It has to be carefully planned to meet the standards of our constitution. It should not be written to rewards special interest groups at the tax payer’s expense.

mojo   February 24th, 2010 - 11:42 pm

His dad is probably dying of embarrassment, which is only covered if you’re an SEIU member.

.

J K   February 24th, 2010 - 11:44 pm

Wow. He makes my head hurt.

Look Olbermann, we know you are emotional right now (not that you ever aren’t), but you are severely underinformed.

1. You’re confusing the death panels with a living will.
2. Everyone can and should have a living will and it sounds like your father does have one.
3. A licensed Medical Doctor in the U.S. can not kill/murder/euthanize/etc. anyone.
4. A doctor has to ALWAYS seek to perserve life (they take an oath for this).
5. The death panels would have been controlled by your beloved government.

I would make some other points and hopefully some other people will but he made my head hurt from damning so many things.

Stop Damning things, Damn It! . . . SIR!

Puck 30   February 24th, 2010 - 11:45 pm

He is losing his mind or Mr. Pathetic is using Dad to prop up his ratings.

Thor   February 24th, 2010 - 11:48 pm

Shoulda been the other way around because there would be alot of takers.

john   February 24th, 2010 - 11:49 pm

How could Keith hear him with the pillow over his face?

.

BWatkins   February 24th, 2010 - 11:50 pm

I’m sorry for his father’s situation and for the hardship one endures while witnessing a loved one in such terrible pain. And I wish them well. But it’s not fair to blame the insurance companies. It’s overly-simplistic. If Mr. Olbermann wants everyone in the nation to be the beneficiaries of the kind of care his father has received, then he’d better figure out how to pay for it. Because offering that same car to everyone without being capable of paying for it and sustaining such an effort means that ultimately NO ONE will get that kind of care in the United States ever again… unless they have enough money to opt out and go somewhere else for treatment.

bo peep   February 24th, 2010 - 11:52 pm

Kill the show. Save the dad.

anorm   February 24th, 2010 - 11:52 pm

I am very sorry for Mr. Olbermann and his father, especially. God bless him and give him relief. However, I cannot believe that Keith Olbermann would use such a deeply personal moment between a son and his father as the fodder for an opinion piece. AND an opinion piece that seems to be an epic over-reach complete with mock political outrage. I am truly sorry that the Sr. Mr. Olbermann is suffering and will keep him in my prayers.

Milt   February 24th, 2010 - 11:53 pm

I hope Kieth doesn’t have children.

Lynn   February 24th, 2010 - 11:54 pm

What about people that want to live? Should they have a choice or should the government make that decision? Keith O. trusts the government too much.

Ted in Japan   February 25th, 2010 - 12:03 am

He said, “What is this country for, if not to take care of its people?”

This, in a nutshell, is where the Left and the Right part company. Folks like me don’t want to be taken care of by any nanny state. We want the country to safeguard our liberty and security so that we can take care of ourselves. And what Olberman doesn’t understand is that it’s impossible for the country — a.k.a. “the government” — to take care of us individually. Only WE can do that. Obama is attempting to rob us of that right. Similarly, it’s impossible for the police to protect us individually. And if the Left succeeds in robbing us of gun rights, we won’t be aboe to protect ourselves, either.

Terry   February 25th, 2010 - 12:07 am

No, the death panels would be the doctors deciding they spent too much money already on him.

muggins   February 25th, 2010 - 12:07 am

If only Keith were 1/10 the man his father is he wouldn’t be pulling this pathetic act.

Elektra   February 25th, 2010 - 12:08 am

He’s NOT misinformed. He knows the truth. Now, if this was Chris Matthews, who can’t even swallow his own spit, I might agree, But some of these people just aren’t that stupid. They are THAT evil!!

rebecca   February 25th, 2010 - 12:09 am

Keith,I listened carefully to all you said in this segment. What you are experiencing is medical care: patient/family/doctor relationship that the government is NOT interfering in.You all are doing the best you can for your father. You are agreeing with Sarah Palin without even realizing it.If external governmentally appointed panels were evaluating your precious father’s situation, he would have been cut off from care long ago.If you had lived in Europe for any length of time and experienced their government-run health care you would understand this.America is a good country, but they can’t afford to do any better than Europe has done.

gjc   February 25th, 2010 - 12:10 am

The last-ditched programming of a desperate, liberal, ratings-starved falling star who works for a washed-up, far-leftist, ratings-starved non-news network.

Dave, Tn   February 25th, 2010 - 12:12 am

have you no shame GE?

Scott   February 25th, 2010 - 12:12 am

Huh…Sounds like Kieth’s Dad was receiving great health care despite his poor health..He would not receive this care under socialized medicine. He would have been deemed unworthy to receive to health care. Still you are a jerk for using your father in this way. You should have taken your father to end of life counseling and YOU should have paid for it…not me. You Ungrateful SOB. Damn you to hell.

Snailmailtrucker   February 25th, 2010 - 12:13 am

Too bad Olbermann doesn’t hear the cries of the millions of innocent babies
who DON’T WANT TO DIE in the abortion clinics all over the World….
that he and his handlers support!

I will not be surprised on Obie climbs bell tower one day…if he obviously a very unstable person.

rebecca   February 25th, 2010 - 12:16 am

Hi Jon at 11:42pm…your comments hit the nail on the head. Good thinking.

fed up   February 25th, 2010 - 12:20 am

Well now we know why MSNBC has only eight viewers. Oh and Keith, when your father was mouthing the words “stop this” he was talking about the tv in his room showing one of your repeats.

waTTPUPPY   February 25th, 2010 - 12:21 am

F off Keith. Where no compassion is shown, none shall be given – ass whip.

Matt   February 25th, 2010 - 12:25 am

He is just too confusing. I dont know if he is legitmately emotional and making a point based on his father’s situation, or if he is just using it to push that agenda. He also seems to be contradicting himself. He says “it should be the family’s decision” but also “I want the government to help make that decsion”. I can’t even comment on it b/c i just can’t follow him.

JK covered it best. I just cant think about it b/c there are too many points he has wrong/mixed-up.

One thing though: I have indeed already had that conversation a few years ago. Well, it wasn’t so much a conversation as it was an order. If he ever got as bad as my grandfather got (REALLY bad alzheimer’s) “just put a bullet in my head. I don’t ever want to live like that or put that financial burden on you and your sister. Promise me.” And that was that.

NOTE: I was around 15 at the time, so i wasn’t allowed a reproach or discussion. And he typically lets me give a counter-point or have a discussion on most issues…

Dolemite   February 25th, 2010 - 12:26 am

He really needs a “time out” from his show.

LoneSurvivor   February 25th, 2010 - 12:31 am

I think Keith reads Breitbart video comments. I just remarked the other day about the BBC dude’s desperation for ratings by confessing on air to having snuffed his AIDS inflicted partner and wondered if MSNBC/Olbermann might not jump on a similar idea to boost Keith’s ratings.

The Sr. Mr. Olbermann is also in my prayers. Unlike the rancid left, we on the ‘right’ usually offer prayers and not vitriol or laughter for the ills and death of people.

Boucheau   February 25th, 2010 - 12:35 am

A weeping useful idiot. Way to whore-out your most intimate moments with your father for your pathetic propaganda. F you, and your DMV medicine!

You do not understand what you are “demanding” be foisted upon the American people.

Look at Britain’s medicine and how people get mistreated and ignored there.

We do not want your idea of compassion, Olbermann. We want to be free, we want what we have without the meddling of hard-left politicians.

Leave us alone, or else.

Rosey   February 25th, 2010 - 12:38 am

I only got to the part that olby said something about “torture” and I looked down and the video wasn’t even HALF WAY THROUGH!!! I couldn’t take it anymore and I turned it off. Look, if olby’s telling the truth (w/his track record I really wouldn’t be surprised if his dad came out tommorow and said, “Keith was mistaken, I only asked for and aspirin and a hug”) but in the off chance that he is, I feel for him and his dad…but holy crap, olby, who can stand to listen to you even for 5 minutes of this video (which, again, I don’t even think I made it half way through) let alone all hour? I’m having thoughts of suicide just listening to you for a few minutes! I truly feel sorry for people that are paid to watch him EVERY DAY!!! I know we’re in a recession soon to be a depression but I don’t think it’s worth it…there’s other work out there, guys.

Kit Rowley   February 25th, 2010 - 12:41 am

This is the first time I have had any respect for Keith – I agree that we should have “LIFE PANELS” and if they will not then the Insurance Companies should have to pay for them BUT THIS IS NOT WHAT OBAMA is proposing – some “faceless bureacrat will be able to make this decisions and THAT IS A DEATH PANEL – I am very close to the same position with my Mom and I and our doctors will make decisions BUT if it comes to it and THEY don’t have the courage to HELP my Mom I will.

CJ   February 25th, 2010 - 12:43 am

Have’nt seen such blatant misuse of family heartbreak since Cindy Sheehan. Hope your Dad recovers and kicks you square in the ball$.

Tell ya what fat boy keith olberturd, how about you forfeiting your cadillac health insurance and being a guinea pig for obama care and when you get terminally ill lets see if it is not a death panel. Overdramatic leftist loser.

RogerCfromSD   February 25th, 2010 - 1:08 am

Olbermann needs to stop. Once he has no other way left to embarrass himself, the only thing he will have left to offer his paltry viewership is his on-air suicide.

Can't drive 55   February 25th, 2010 - 1:13 am

I truly feel sorry for the Olbermanns. It is a horrible situation to be in, especially if it lingers. A family member of mine just died tonight after a quick but tortuous bout with lung cancer, and after getting hit with dementia. These sorts of thing occur all too often and are an unfortunate part of life.

However, this does not justify Keith to use his grief to bend the meaning of death panel to his description and the way he damns to Hell people who have a different opinion. Without researching exact comments by specific individuals, my take on “Death Panels” were the suggestion that a body of administrative bureaucrats (not doctors actively involved in treatment) would make arbitrary decisions about go/no-go on further treatment. In Keith’s situation, if his father was on Obamacare and at month 3 (instead of month 6) he had a bad spell, the ‘Life Panel’ could decide to let his life be decided by fate, and not by the best medicine possible. If his hospital bill was at, say, $250,000 and that was all the manual would allow for a 75+ year old in his condition, well, then pull the wires and let it be.

THAT is a Death Panel. Call it what you wish, Keith. I seriously doubt that heroic efforts would be approved by state-controlled insurance administrators for an average Joe. Perhaps if his family was able to pay more, or if someone was political or a celeb or famous, but what about the rest of us just trying to get well?

IMHO, I think that King Solomon would draw a blank when confronted with our current situation vis-a-vis health insurance. There is NO good answer. Reform is needed desperately with insurance, but if there is a $1000 per pill ‘cure’ available, who wouldn’t want their loved one to get a month’s worth of them for free? Who’s going to pay for it? When insurance rates go up 20% per year, would paying the insurance company execs $1 per year cause the cost of insurance to flat-line? I doubt it. When GE charges $2 Million for a Nuclear Scanner, who is going to complain if it helps your wife get better? Why shouldn’t Jeffrey Immelt donate these machines for the good of mankind? Why shouldn’t food be free for that matter? Or water? Or housing? Or clothing? Aren’t they all essential for health and life? Why not a cell phone so that you can call in case of an emergency? Why not a free GPS in case you get lost? Free helmet and knee pads for bicycle riders? Free air conditioners for elderly people? Free handguns for vulnerable citizens in inner cities?

Am I being silly? At some point everyone reading that list will say “Well, that’s ridiculous.” But who gets to decide where that point is? Obama? Pelosi? Reed? Tea Party members? Supreme Court? Keith Olbermann? You?

I HATE conundrums! They make my head hurt. Can I get a free aspirin?

What a piece of crap Olberman is. Funny how all this happens exactly the day before Obama’s health Care falls apart! Unbelieveable! Dispictable! You piece of crap!

Veritas   February 25th, 2010 - 1:27 am

What is he going on about? He has this option now! I just went through this myself. Right now, we can have this conversation with the doctors! Where has he said his father is not getting treatment now? Where is he saying that he is not able to use his or his father’s judgment at this point? His argument is a straw man. If this health care bill does pass, he must understand the freedom he had to have that discussion about his father with the doctors will not be in his hands, but rather in the hands of pencil pushers. This is an evil man. He will use the suffering of his own father to press for something that if this passes would not allow him the freedom he had in his father’s care so far. He must be super EVIL or super STUPID!!

To all those that wished Olbermann’s Dad the best, thank you, you are great people. Sorry we couldn’t hear that from the left when Cheney or Rush went in to the hospital. To all of, shame on you. We are better than that. Let the left have this tactic, we are better than that and them.

Keith’s Dad, I hope you can have comfort in your last days.

This time-wasting, emotionalist tactical BS is a prime example of why progressive-liberals continue to see evermore rejection of their attempts at progressing the nation into their ideology. Constructive conservatism is the true herald of the nation’s recovery in this century, not the endless hot-air tactics of progressive-liberalism. Progressives, enough. We’re not going to progress into your quagmire. Constructive Conservatives are the way to build the U.S.

Tired of Sad Libs   February 25th, 2010 - 1:33 am

The funny part is more people have probably seen this BS clip on Breitbart than watched it live on MSNBC. No one watched this dipstick, but yes, his lies are still annoying.

Hey Keith, the “panels” (insert life or death as you choose) do not refer to you confering with your Dr. during treatment, but to a group of folks who will decide what is allowed well before the patient gets to the hospital. Everyone can talk to the Dr. when their family members are being cared for and they don’t even charge you for that. But of course you aleady know that and are just looking to milk your dad’s illness to push your ideoogy. What a sick bastard. Good luck to Mr. Olbermann Senior….probably not his fault his son is an idiot.

refuse to make it a media event… perhaps ten years down the road revealing it in a book or something?

but you come on national television with this nonsense?
you are looking for ratings…. but you are earning the dishonesty and
unkindness you give out THAT is why your ratings are in the toilet.

now go wipe your nose and man-up.

Tim   February 25th, 2010 - 1:52 am

This guy doesn’t even seem serious when he’s supposed to be serious. I think he is truly incapable of any kind of real emotion.

Ohhhh how the left despises Sarah. The extent in which they will go to demonize her is immeasurable. One single metaphor from Sarah last year turns the left into a frenzy. The fact that even PolitiFact claimed her “Metaphor” the lie of the year shows you how much they hate her. That says more then people know. You have to ask yourself why do they really do this and feel this way about her. Is it really because she is so evil? No they’re threatened by the power of her words exposing them for who they really are, because she is “real” and people can relate to her and it drives them nuts.
If she does this to the left she is a God send. The power she wields is incredible. To them it’s war…the scores of the liberal media elite vs. little old Sarah Palin. So far she is kicking their butts.

“Huh…Sounds like Kieth’s Dad was receiving great health care despite his poor health..He would not receive this care under socialized medicine. He would have been deemed unworthy to receive to health care.”

Kieth’s Dad is on Medicare — which is your “socialized medicine” — and he is receiving the care you say he would not. The Public Option would offer the same kind of plan as Medicare, perhaps even an extension of the present Medicare to people under age 65.

Salgofnir   February 25th, 2010 - 2:09 am

Bummer your dad is ill but you are still a douchebag. You do not even know what they are talking about when “death panels” were discussed. You do truly need some form of phsyc help. Your hatred for Palin is pathological. It has turned you into a habitual liar. The only reason you are still on the air and allowed to spew the crap that comes out of your mouth is because I am not allowed to pick and choose what channels I get in my Direct TV package. I am forced to subsidized you insanity.

Salgofnir   February 25th, 2010 - 2:15 am

Hate to tell ya Buffy Marie but the public option will not offer the same kind of care as medicare. As the money begins to run out, there will be limits placed on who gets what kind of care. Just ask the people in England with breast cancer.

Jamesb   February 25th, 2010 - 2:21 am

Dear Comcast – PULL THE PLUG on Olbermann’s crappy, hour long, nightly JOKE.

Oh the misery, the humanity, the unrelenting socialist bull…please…the plug!

Jyoungbl   February 25th, 2010 - 2:23 am

Keith I am Sorry for your father’s and families situation. I work in an ICU and see similiar situations every day.The point you are missing is that under a govt run healthcare is you wont be able to make those decisions. Those decisions would be made by a group of individuals (death panels)that work for the government or the govt would probably mandate that hospitals create boards to decide who they are going to cut off from recieving medical care. The govt would do that so they can deny any responsibility and blame it on the hospitals and insurance companies. If medicare is so great why does your dad and millions of other seniors have to buy supplemntal insurance. The reason is because Medicare wont pay for all the care he is recieving. That is also a reason healthcare insurance is so expensive because hospitals are forced to make up the difference all insurances doesnt pay including your beloved medicare/medicaid. The government mandates on insurance also force those companies to pay for procedures that honestly should not be covered. I am a man and i am almost certain that if I needed a mammography my insurance company would pay for it. That is downright ridiculous. I do understand that men get breast cancer but is very rare. Just pay for it out of your pocket if you need it. This includes women. The fact is that most people are to irresponsible to save enough money to get exams every two years and everyone is punished for it through higher premiums. if procedures like these were not mandated then everyones insurance would go down. That is just one place where costs could be cut. I am a nurse and just like you Keith I like to get paid for my job skills. If people were able to buy a insurance plan that is individualized and not so broad you might see more people doing it.

D.Cesar   February 25th, 2010 - 2:23 am

Uhh, Olbermann…Question. Why is you dad ON Medicare in the first place? I mean, with a big shot like you, making bucks? Is it that you feel for your father, as you do for, gosh, Limbaugh, Palin and/or anyone else your vitriol is aimed at?

Lady liberty   February 25th, 2010 - 2:32 am

sounds to me like your fathers problem is a severe staff infection common in hospitals and very preventable …i say hold the hospital accountable..
it happen to my dad after removal of his colon…he lived 10 more years..

Does Keith really believe ObamaCare would pay for his Dad to have all that stuff done to him? Once the rationing begins (and it inevitably will) they will tell him his old man is too old for this procedure or that procedure. He may not get a certain drug that Obama’s “expert” panel decides is too expensive and therefore “not effective”. Keith is a damn fool to keep pushing government run health care on us.

Robert Neville   February 25th, 2010 - 2:49 am

What is with this guy’s (WAY) over the top exploitation of his dad’s suffering? I’ve been with my Dad, my Aunt, my Mom’s boyfriend and my father-in-law at the end. My cousin is a doctor of internal medicine and he’s been through this with his patients many times more. It’s never easy and often very, very hard. I can’t get over the histrionic exhibitionism and megalomaniacal exploitation of suffering that Keith puts to his own partisan use, to promote his own partisan view.

We know your agenda Keith but “Death Panels” are about cost containment, cost/benefit ratios and the other stuff that comes with a government run system charged with allocating resources. It’s already happened with the revised recommended mammogram age, and suggested medicare cuts.

Look, Mammograms were recommended to be taken at 1 or 2 year intervals beginning at age 40 to increase the early detection of cancer that is crucial to it’s successful treatment. This is a medical decision based on risk of getting cancer and the efficacy of early treatment. Then last year the recommended age was raised to 50. Why? Because they took costs into account. And a cost/benefit model is different from a strictly risk/treatment model.

And that’s what a Death Panel is. At what point does treating your dad become a money loosing resource hog? You want a bureaucrat or bean counter to decide that? ’cause from there on it’s pain management and letting nature take it’s course. Just like Dr. Ezekial Emanuel (older brother of Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel) describes in “Principles for Allocation of Scarce Medical Interventions,” published 01/31/2009. Think I’m joking? Go read the report from page 428 on the “The Complete Lives System” which takes into account the “worth” to society of an individual in order to determine the allocation of treatment resources. They make movies about this kind of macabre utilitarian accounting, movies like Soylent Green and Logan’s Run. If you haven’t seen the movies, trust me, you don’t want this.

Hey KO. If we did have the Obamacare. The request you made of the Doc. could be refused if the government had the oversite they want. He would still be thrashing his head. So pull your head out of Obama’s ass and really listen to the GOP instead of just belittleing them. If you go to http://www.healthcare.gop.gov you can see the ideas that have been posted for months that you and Madcow claim do not exist. What your father is going thru is a terrible thing and I feel for him. But for you to use it to politise your liberal ideas is a dishonor to him. Also the fact that you were able to use the Lords name in vain only re-enforces my belief that MSNBC should be kicked off the air. It and all of the other stations of NBC are so slanted it is amazing you all can even sit in a chair. You berate FOX yet they have more Democratic pundits and guest on any one show than your station does in a single day. Thay are “Fair and Balanced”. Do us all a favor and go take care of your dad then when he passes move your butt to China or Russia PLEASE.

Penny   February 25th, 2010 - 3:52 am

Perhaps if you pray to God, instead of damning Him and His children, he’ll give you wisdom to see the error of your unbelievably scummy pot shot at people who are just trying to save their country from utter disaster. We cannot afford to just throw money at this problem of health insurance.
I pray that your father’s pain subsides. I pray that you lose your pride and bow to your heavenly Father. I pray that you ask for His wisdom…which you so desperately need.
Don’t use your father like that. It’s pathetic…and you look like a very bad actor trying to be sad.

Greg Zotta   February 25th, 2010 - 4:09 am

Hey, Keith Odorman, you said Last Friday Night My Father Asked Me to ‘Kill Him.’If I had a douche-bag son like you I probably would want to be killed to. When you refer to Death Panels what is being proposed is a bunch of bureaucrats making the decision of life and death. It’s called a cost benefit analysis, to determine if your life is worth saving. And it should be up to the individual and their families to make that decision, you FOOL.

TO LADY LIBERTY   February 25th, 2010 - 4:34 am

LadyLiberty wrote “a severe staff infection common in hospitals…”

LOL!!! YEAH, WE’VE ENCOUNTERED A FEW OF THOSE “SEVERE STAFF INFECTIONS COMMON IN HOSPITALS” OURSELVES! {PEEEEEYEWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!} :-(

P.S. Think maybe you meant “staph infections”!?! LOL :-)

Sally Rotherchill   February 25th, 2010 - 4:54 am

Utterly shameful. He does make a comment about his own out of pocket expenses. He stops short of whining that the govt isnt allowed to pay instead until they pass the hc legislation. Olbermann, shame on you for this monstrous display and humanist manifesto plea for euthanizing the useless eaters. Anyone remember Soylent Green?

doughboy   February 25th, 2010 - 5:02 am

Olbermann, you are one sick puppy. It IS a death panel and damn you to hell for using your fathers suffering for your own personal monetary gain.Asking the Gov to pay for your fathers treatment. You have money you low life misrepresenting liberal sycophant.Your father,if he is conscious can terminate treatment. And how sick are you,you say yourself that your father appointed you his keeper. If so.STOP TREATMENT and be done with it

SirJaxx   February 25th, 2010 - 5:17 am

You should have smothered him Keith, then you could have attended the Dallas Tea Party that you were Invited too.
Better yet, why not sneak in a Hemlock Shake to Dear ole Dad, and Bring two straws!

The Truth of course, Under Obamacare, your Dad would be long dead, after a well rehearsed Life-Guidance Counselor, would have guilted you and the rest of your family into pain pills, while they explained how the expense to keep that Old Geezer alive, would be better spent on AIDS/STD’s Prevention Program in some backroad Mexican village, FOR AN ENTIRE YEAR!!!

Face it Keith, You are taking advantage of the Best Healthcare available in the World, brought to you by the Greatest Country on the planet, thanks to Capitalism and the Ingenuity of Free People, and Not because of Some Stupid Government mandate.

Your situation is neither New or Unique, as every family since the beginning of time has had to make these very same decisions, It’s just in America, YOU GET MORE OPTIONS TO CHOOSE FROM! NOT THE GOVERNMENT!!!

Ted White   February 25th, 2010 - 5:40 am

Sorry Olby, but he only said that because he is embarrassed because of his failure in producing a fine upstanding citizen. He realized his failure, and just could not live with himself anymore. He probably meant that he wanted you to off yourself Olby.

Dangerclose   February 25th, 2010 - 5:53 am

I dont a give a rats@ss about about olberdork or his dad. Im sick of hearing about his dad being sick and wetting himself. KO has some money buy your old man some depends and shut up. OLBERDUCHE acts like he’s the only one whos had a sick father. For some reason he thinks his father being sick justifies healthcare reform. KO is a POS !!!

brian   February 25th, 2010 - 5:57 am

wow! all people talk about god and religion and rip this guy as his dad’s about to die with childish comments……may god forgive you….such hypocrites

claspur   February 25th, 2010 - 6:21 am

Amazeing how [T]he liberal cares about life when that life is one [T]hey care about. (Read: United in Hate _Jamie Glazov)

John Blohm   February 25th, 2010 - 6:32 am

I have never seen anyone use a personal tragedy in such a pathetic, laughable trope.
Even when I think Bathtub Boy can’t crawl under the moral wire- he does so.
Please, keep the freak show on…
at least until November.

MJ   February 25th, 2010 - 6:32 am

This guy needs to be put away before he hurts himself or someone else.

jyoungbl   February 25th, 2010 - 6:35 am

Hey Brian you could damn God like Olbermann did.

Monkey man   February 25th, 2010 - 6:49 am

I damn Keith Olbermann to hell!

I think his argument is idiotic, assuming this is true. Assuming.

Nalora   February 25th, 2010 - 6:51 am

Here is the key to Healthcare reform. Make it a cash only business. That’s right, end the American people’s addiction to “insurance” and PAY out of your pocket for the SERVICE that other HUMAN BEINGS provide for you.

Paul Martin   February 25th, 2010 - 6:59 am

Brian: How’s that hope & change working for ya?? Are you that dumb to see how Olbermann is USING his dad for his program? Are you that stupid??? This guy needs to be run out on a rail. Ever heard the saying what’s good for the goose is good for the gander? How would Olbermann treat people who lean GOP if they were in the same position? With kid gloves? I don’t think so, and if you do, you are the bigger fool.

Peace Sister   February 25th, 2010 - 7:34 am

Why is MSNBC allowing this man to speak on this issue in the incoherence of his pain and suffering for his father? He is completely illogical.

d.b.cooperisalive   February 25th, 2010 - 7:37 am

What kind of person is he when his father begs him to let him die and the sons answer to his fathers wishes is to sedate him. I hope my kids do what I wish when my health fails and not ask the resident to sedate me. My feeling is people who lived a dignified life should die in a dignified way (suffer as little as possible).

Peace Sister   February 25th, 2010 - 7:41 am

“wow! all people talk about god and religion and rip this guy as his dad’s about to die with childish comments……may god forgive you….such hypocrites”

Brian, Keith Olbermann brought his very personal suffering and pain onto his show and is using it to push a political agenda. He started the conversation.

No News Here   February 25th, 2010 - 7:43 am

He goes through all this about his poor dad’s health, because he wants other people to pay his dad’s medical bills so he doesn’t have to? Keith must be a liberal.

Michelle   February 25th, 2010 - 7:46 am

A new low even for you Keith…..God help you

Don   February 25th, 2010 - 7:54 am

A touching story. Yet the government didn’t need to pass a law or a bill to enable Keith’s talk with the doctors. Amid the sorrow of a parent’s suffering, why is it necessary to lash out once again at those you disagree with? I don’t see what prevents anyone from having this type of discussion with a doctor.

BettyO   February 25th, 2010 - 8:04 am

I guess he does not respect the privacy of his father, and is instead, using him to get a view more viewers. Will not work.

LaVerdad   February 25th, 2010 - 8:04 am

Right before the big show for socialist healthcare, again. The timing of things like this are always suspect–show me video of your father, Keith. Given what a proven leftist propagandist you are, I’m not buying. “Damn those who call it otherwise to Hell?” No, damn those to Hell who abet the Demmunists in their incessant attempts to put their jackboots on our necks, particularly, using the healthcare system to do it. You smell like ham, Keith. By the way, quit the public bleeding–it’s astoundingly sick.
