Same thing I heard around every union I have been in. They destroyed many of the best and largest US companies with their antics. Digital, (DEC) GM, Chrysler, Ford, GE, US Steel. I mean the list goes on and on. UPS was and still is the only exception in my limited experience but all the rest rewarded people who took pride in how they screwed over "The Man". The members all seemed to get most satisfaction out of their jobs when they were successful looking busy while doing nothing. I always feel best when I can get more done in less time and I feel satisfaction when I do so, these people use intimidation, thuggery, and pier pressure to bring even the hardest workers in line or they get rid of them.

I am a public school teacher WITH tenure and this is exactly why I've refused to join our association here in MD. There is no way I want to donate funds that I know will go towards supporting candidates whose policies I detest.

God, this was hard to watch. When we had teacher or board meetings they were ultra professional. If any one of us had talked or behaved like this, they'd have been out on their butts in an instant, never to be seen in the school district again.

As a former teacher, appalled and disgusted beyond words. I can't bring myself to believe that the passage of a mere 35 years did this much damage to what was once the most respected (although poorly paid) of professions. In all my years of work, teaching was the only work that lasted, and didn't end up in someone's wastebasket after a year or less. It was like a small slice of immortality when I could help train them up in the way they should go. If my job was well done, then a part of me was passed on to their own children.
