A gentleman added a post on Thursday that suggested that people go to http://www.Dearpolitician.org to write your politicians. Of course, he made it sound too-good-to-be-true, but I checked it out and found it to be a legit website that is pretty cool. The one thing that caught my attention is that they had a section called “Things Americans Should Know”. The interesting thing about this section is that it has the complete, US Constitution, Bill of Rights, Declaration of Independence and Pledge of Allegiance all in audio format. They have the text version, but face it, who reads all of those documents. They actually have all of those documents professionally recorded. I listened to all of them Saturday, after hearing the news of more American soldiers getting killed, I felt I could at least listen to the documents they list their lives to protect. I recommend everyone take the time to visit http://www.dearpolitician.org and listen to the most important documents we are all trying to protect.

“You see the emperor, you express your respect for the man and the history and the position he holds and she holds,” he said of the imperial couple.

And Obama even cares enough to honor the dead at Arlington and at Dover AFB, and took the time to speak with mourners at Arlington on Veteran’s Day. I lost tons of respect for Obama when he went against his own promises to take public campaign funding only (as McCain forced his hand) and ended up spending over $700M (THE MOST MONEY EVER SPENT ON A CAMPAIGN IN US HISTORY….MAKE THAT IN THE WORLD’S HISTORY). Then Obama went against his no earmarks pledge with over 9,000 earmarks in his first omnibus spending bill, and against his no Lobbyist pledge with tons of former lobbyists in his administration.
Stay open minded, those in the gov’t work for us, paid by us! We don’t have to agree with everything Bush says or Obama says. And if the guy you voted for makes some questionable moves or statements, or simply steps in it with obvious gaffes (they all do!), then be bold and honest enough to say, yup, he shouldn’t have said or done that. Those on the left or right that act like their guy (or gal) can never do any wrong are really pathetic….you don’t owe a politician that type of blind allegiance….no one does.
Bush’s landing on the deck of that carrier seemed kinda cool at the time…being a pilot is impressive and we thought the mission truly was accomplished, but it wasn’t and it clearly was a photo op that turned out to be even more of a joke as the war went on for years and continues to this day. But Obama is a politician, a master one at that, and he knows the value of a photo op and for instance allowed pics to be taken when he finally met with his General for 25 mins on Air Force One while in Europe….a politically motivated ‘brief’ meeting and photo op, and then asked 18 families if he could have photos taken of him next to their son’s flag draped coffin, only 1 of 18 families said yes….that says a lot. And this S. Korea photo op moment….I actually respect the fact that he called it what it was….you place the soldiers in rows behind you in their fatigues and he turns and says you make a great photo op…..stupid to say, but at least he was being honest. I personally don’t like or trust the man, he’s left of Carter, and that’s not good….but I hope he does well and does what’s best for our country in the end.

Sorry to unhinge your oversized sense of self-righteousness & perceived monopoly on the truth, not to mention grand delusion that everybody in uniform should think like you, but I don’t give a rat’s ass about what you think, you think you know about war or who makes a good leader of it or not.

U.S. Presidents are the final commander in any American war, not generals. At least according our constitution. Generals are supposed to give their best advice and serve at the pleasure of presidents and then shut up or resign their commissions if their ideas are rejected or modified & their consciences are grievously stricken, not the other way around unless you have a very weak-minded president. Say what you want about but Pres. Obama, but weak-minded he is not as evidenced by his ability to challenge the conventional wisdom of those around him and exercise worthy deliberation while there’s still time to run various hypothetical models up the flag pole before committing another American life.
Pres. Bush went through numerous generals and “dithered” for months, remember the Iraq Study Group, until finally plucking Gen. Petraeus to execute his counter-insurgency “surge” plan in Iraq. Or can’t you remember that far back?
I don’t recall any of you pious wingnuts saying Pres. Bush was “dithering” while Iraq was a burning charnel house of bloodied soldiers’ boots, everywhere?
Where were all you big mouth strategic military experts back then?
Maybe if you first went and fetched a giant Q-Tip & some floss and scrubbed the fallacious “meme” that Pres. Obama is “dithering” over Half-a-Tank-of-Gas-a-Stan out of your war-mongering noodle, you might see reality for what it is.
While it bothers me more than you will even know that soldiers are DYING anywhere — that is precisely why we should avoid getting caught in another Vietnam and losing even more soldiers that we will need elsewhere for dubious, unwise and untenable reasons.
What your preferred propaganda machine du jour DOES NOT tell you is that the Pentagon CAN NOT send all the soldiers to fill Gen. McCrystal’s request, even if Pres. Obama wanted to, until around spring at the earliest, because they have to wait to integrate fresh recruits coming out of bootcamp or risk breaking already multiply deployed soldiers who have been promised much earned and needed rest and down time at home to regroup, which for many will include the latest new training for Afghanistan, which has different operational requirements than Iraq, etc.
If you gave a wink about the troops you so profess to care about, then you would already know these and about a thousand other relevant battlefield dynamics.
But apparently all you care to know is brainwashed claptrap, which ain’t worth a jar of cat’s piss in my world, lady.

He often says exactly what he thinks which is outrageous (like spread the wealth), then skates right by with the liberal media. I would think the people who should be truly ashamed are those who twice voted for a c-student who led our country into two wars he was not prepared to finance or finish, left the southern half our country to die because of the color of their skin, failed to monitor financial malpractice that led us into the second great depression, wiretapped innocent american civilians against their knowledge, sanctioned torture, and feels no remorse. Want to be Pfc “Patricks” is a “total jerk?” We had these “big mouths” in our unit in Nam, they were usually drunks, in trouble most of the time and were usually drummed out of the service on “sexual problems”! Greetings and best of health to all. I can’t help but comment here about the tenor of the comments.
First, I note that there are a few “regulars” who are clearly libtrolls. We know who they are, and their comments are not intended to cause a change of mind or heart but are simply intended to take us off topic. I pledge to not ever post a response to one of these. It is like trying to teach a donkey to dance. You might someday get some kind of dance out of the beast, but will have wasted much effort for very little.
Next, as Republicans (and I use the word carefully) we should make clear up front, so they don’t keep trying to use him as a stick, that W was as much a disappointment to true conservatives as he was to liberals. Bush2 contributed to the furtherance of the globalist and statist agendas significantly. We got that. We do not think of Bush as a hero.
Third, most of these issues are truly nothing but side-show. The only REAL issue before us is whether we are willing to allow OBAMA and his radical, statist, socialist, athiestic, eugenicist, pedophile cadre to turn our nation into THEIR ideal society, or whether at some point BEFORE the Reichstagg moment we are going to make our voices sufficiently loud and numerous to convince our elected officials to give us our NATION and our CONSTITUTION back. To say that as a representative of the People and the Pride of the United States our CINC is a dismal disappointment suffices me.
Finally, Chris Reed has it exactly right. LESS TIME YAMMERING and MORE TIME ACTING. I personally subscribe to a number of orgs that issue action alerts and when I get an alert, I follow through. It takes a few minutes each day to to more than armchair quarterback, and if we want our Freedoms, our Nation and our Constitution back, we had ALL better be about the business of becoming actual ACTIVISTS. Write and phone your reps. Spend the thirty dollars at WND to send the traitors a “pink slip”. Attend protests sponsored by groups like 912, AFP, or whatever conservative group you can feel common cause with. Buy a few extra copies of Common Sense, Arguing with Idiots, Guilty, or any of the excellent conservative eye-openers available and give them NOT to your liberal friends but to your apathetic friends who might actually get it.
Freedom is never free. As a veteran I took an oath to defend my country and I take that seriously. It is worth mentioning, for those not in the military, that the founders were mostly not military men until circumstances forced them to become so. They were not members of the Constitutional Convention until circumstances forced them to follow the course they traveled. We as “simple citizens” must be willing to BECOME MORE, and willing to DO MORE if we ever expect to wrest our nation back from the elitist statists.
