Of course he doesn’t. When marijuana is illegal, it costs more, puts more money in drug dealers’ amd law enforcement coffers, and keeps crime rates up.

Freddie Da Mac   March 26th, 2009 - 1:39 pm

Well my liberal friends they actually make more by keeping it illegal. Seizures of assets – property, cars, cash, guns, furniture, court taxes, fines, etc etc. Legalizing it will diminish the quality, it would in their hands, like the quality of todays’ tobacco – regulated, heavily contaminated with fertilzier, persticide, herbicide, etc, then ‘washed’ with more chemicals in a giant vat called ‘filler’ so by the time it gets to your lungs it is probably half genetically manipulated tobacco and half paper chemicals, thus diminishing the actual quality of the tobacco leaf. Keep it illegal its’ better for all. Thank you my brainwashed liberal friends.

Sylvia   March 26th, 2009 - 2:50 pm

When this clown says “No” he means “Yes” …so you can expect mj to be legal in the not-too-distant future.

His handlers have to do a couple of Focus Groups and Polls before the legislative process begins.

*sigh* *puff* *sigh*

THEY STILL SHOULD LEGALIZE *MEDICAL* MJ   March 26th, 2009 - 4:33 pm

Well, the LEAST they could do is to legalize MEDICAL MARIJUANA USE, for those with health problems who could benefit from it. And it does NOT have to be in the form that is “smoked,” either. It could be in the form of a PILL, which would qualify as a prescription DRUG for MEDICINAL PURPOSES ONLY. There is plenty of evidence, both scientific & anecdotal, that marijuana DOES HELP people with cancer, glaucoma, and other chronic (sometimes terminal) ailments.

There is NO EXCUSE for withholding this potential helpful substance from sick people. They apparently have no problem legalizing controversial stem-cell research; how about showing more flexiblity and open-mindedness to this question of MEDICAL MJ, too?

Far Right Wing Wacko   March 27th, 2009 - 6:06 am

Since when do you far right nut jobs believe anything Obama says? I have to agree with Sylvia on this one, no means yes and it’s only a matter of time. None too soon I might add. A HUGE waste of tax payer $ fighting a losing the war on pot, period!

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   March 28th, 2009 - 12:55 pm

How about heroin from Afghanistan? Poppies are the major product!

Adults should be allowed to decide for themselves how they want to live and treat their own bodies as long as it doesn’t put others at risk or in harm’s way.

1. Prostitution. It’s the oldest profession, it is still going strong and law enforcement will never be able to stop it. Why not legalize it, regulate it and tax it?

2. Illicit Drugs. They are out there, they are not going away and again, law enforcement will never be able to stop them. Why not legalize them, regulate them and tax them?

William   July 17th, 2009 - 11:17 am

At least an intelligent discussion is being had finally. The fact that
Alcohol, tobbacco and all of the prescription drugs that are being abused are
legal simply makes the feds look foolish for supporting the propoganda
that has prevailed since the early 20th century against MJ.

Think logically about the benefits to the economy of legalization:

You buy legal weed (pay the tax), you get the muchies, you go and BUY FOOD!

trulyfedup   July 17th, 2009 - 12:46 pm

Absolutely we should legalize marijuana. We’d be taking money directly out of the hands of drug lords and giving it to the treasury department.

joey   August 22nd, 2009 - 3:27 am

Freddie da mack is a true patriot, need more straight thinkers who tell the truth. +ur govt is making money while we are systematically becoming enslaved by the true traitors of freedom, pols and cops.

Bobarian   August 22nd, 2009 - 8:27 am

Whatever. As long as trans-fats are outlawed.

Dude, if I have to pay for YOUR health insurance, I’m going to insist on a very long list of activities that you are prohibited from enjoying.

G Really   August 22nd, 2009 - 10:30 am

But if we stopped prohibiting cannabis/hemp, think of all the criminals, corrupt “public servants”, prison guard unions, and private prison investors who would be worse off! Have you people no compassion?! Seriously, though, I have always found it interesting the people who really champion the need for a war on drugs, in particular the war on cannabis/hemp. We need to stop considering something that has less potential danger and health risks than alcohol or tobacco in the same light as genuinely dangerous narcotics. Or do we really need to keep justifying having a per capita prisoner ratio that rivals, if not bests, South Africa during apartheid.
