Obama and his Liberals are patient. While ACORN and the union thugs want single-payer socialism right now, Obama is shrewd. If he can get the public option inserted into the final healthcare legislation in the House/Senate conferees mark-up, it will be a matter of time before a substantial number of Americans are forced into the public healthcare option of the insurance exchange. That, combined with oppressive taxes on small businesses, which make up a substantial amount of employment in America, will force 40 percent or more of the American public into the public insurance option.

And when that happens, the private health insurance industry will simply implode.

First, you will see a wave of mergers and consolidations by insurers, as the small are forced to be swallowed by the giants. Then, you will see massive losses as the giants lose vast numbers of members to the private plan. Then, you will see insurers simply exiting health insurance altogether, and ceasing to write policies. (They will move to property and casualty insurance, which will cause yet another wave of consolidations in that insurance line of business.)

Within five to ten years, you will see a de facto move to a single-payer, government-run health insurance enterprise. By default. And Obama knows this.

It is devious and evil. And it WILL happen. The result is that over one MILLION people working in the private insurance industry will lose their jobs. That is more than the auto industry.

For our congressional leaders to vote for a bill they need to be able to pass a multiple choice question test about the bill… one question from every 10 pages of the bill would probably be sufficient. Their vote can only count as a “yea” if they score better than 85%… if they can’t pass the test – their vote will be forfeited … and a report card on how they do for their entire term will be published. We have the best health care in the world for better than 90% of our people. I do not
think that our system is perfect, nor do I think that it should continue as it is
today. What we need is reform, not complete rewrite using systems that have been shown
to fail over and over and over.

Medicare, Medicaid and Military health care is not something we should model our health
care after. I have had some experience with these. Having the same as coverage as
Congress would bankrupt the country in nothing flat. I would be much more willing if
Congress, the President and everyone were forced to use the same as what they were
passing for everyone else. Unfortunately, this is just not so.

As I said, I don’t think we should do nothing. However, single party is the WRONG way to go. A
monopoly of anything is bad news. What is written, from what I have seen, and I make a
point to see as much as I can, is designed to make a one party system over time. Let’s
set down, use the good parts of health care. Let’s get rid of pre-existing conditions,
perhaps by sharing the load across insurers when someone with pre-existing conditions
needs insurance. Perhaps we set up an insurer of last resort (the government) that will
take care of those that CANNOT (note this is not will not) get insurance. There are many
options that we could look at reasonably that do not put the Government in charge of
healthcare.

Can’t Obama be impeached for his endless lies and deceptions, his Chicago mafia like politics, and his now obvious stealth black liberation theology socialist revolution which is destroying our once great country (even black people, new agers who listen to their favorite channelers, PC brainwashed youth, and white women with black-man fascination should be outraged)?

You know we pay more for healthcare and get less than most any country in the world. When do people realize profit and medical care cannot co-exist? What we have now is so convuluted that it is very possible going to a Doctor or the hospital is worse than not going at all. There is no incentive to cure, only to make money. Do you want the same “investors” that destroyed our financial system continue to destroy our medical system? To me the realization that no one understands how bad our system actually is just boggles the mind. We have become so greedy that our system can’t even deal with asbestos in a rationalmanner. Asbestos kills and makes sick untold people every year under the guise of a false diagnosis and we don’t even realise it. Why can’t someone just come up with a plan to cut the cost of health insurance without infringing on our liberty? The dems and libs want you to think that people are just dying in the streets left and right because they don’t have health insurance! Everyone knows that NOBODY, not even illegals, are denied health care in this country or prescriptions. Not everyone can get EVERYTHING done that they want done, but enough BASIC stuff is done to help everyone. Cap liability claims amounts. Stop malicious lawsuits. But still hold doctors liable. Asprin does not need to cost $15-20 a pill in the hospital. Seeing a doctor doesn’t need to cost $150-250 dollars (without insurance) just for a check up. For $200 a doctor better DO something other than just LOOK at me! The costs are outrageous. Insurance companies don’t need to charge as much as they do because out of 300 million people, only perhaps 10-25% are seriously ill. The rest are in generally decent health! The insurance companies are already making everyone pay for someone else’s health care, and the rates are already astronomical! Why expand that into the government, whom some can’t even pay taxes or figure out “TaxCut”, whom NONE of them will opt for the plan they’re proposing (because it’s NOT good). Page 84 or 89 of the current bill being passed around the House states the plans for the phasing out of private health insurance.

Obama and his team have a very long term, very different vision of America and it’s NOT based on our current constitution. Speaking of which, the Constitution mentions nothing about the Congress, President or the Supreme court forcing American citizens to pay for health insurance of others. Just as it says NOTHING of making is MANDATORY that we pay into SOCIAL SECURITY, which means that the decision shall fall to the individual States or the INDIVIDUAL per the 10th AMENDMENT. As true with abortion laws, etc. WE THE PEOPLE MUST TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK AND FREE OURSELVES FROM TYRANNY!!! THE CONSTITUTION IS NOT A “LIVING” DOCUMENT SUBJECT TO INTERPRETATION.

If you pass Universal Health Care Legislation will it include a mandate that every member of Congress, the Administration, all staffers, and all federal employeess participate in said program within 180 days of it being signed into law? Further, all current healthcare programs for the fore mentioned persons will be terminated.

I have contacted each of mine three times. I have yet to receive a reply specifically answering that question. The President did address the concern during his press conference with the following ” This is not about me, as I and all of Congress have EXCELLENT health care programs”! So you see they are far too important to participate with the masses!

What you didn’t see too much of last week was the the proposal by Sue Myrick to have Congress ditch their health care plan and adopt what is being proposed to the “people”. If either of them were not a Senator, and were members of the proposed Nationalized Healthcare System, neither of them would be eligible for treatment because of age. They would instead, get counseling for end of life planning. If the federal government ever takes over healthcare, the only way it will be fair to the general public is if members of Congress are forced to join the system, too. I know Congress thinks we are peons outside of Washington, DC, but we can prevent the current disaster from happening. Even if you are for single payer health care, what is being proposed will not take care of you and your family when you most need it. All of us peons should be up in arms at the town hall meetings our representatives have in August. Hey Reality and other Obama folks, most Americans (like 80%) like the healthcare they receive and simply would like to see more competition, lower prices, and tort reform so doc’s don’t have to pay insanely high insurance rates due to multi-million dollar malpractice suits brought on by the likes of Attorney’s like John Edwards. Is tort reform included in this healthcare bill? Republicans have pushed to have it included, but Pelosi won’t even let the tort reform on the floor the House for discussion. And Dems also won’t allow for cross-state insurance competition (like we have with auto insurance and other goods/services), all of these things would dramatically reduce the price of health insurance, but nope, the Dems won’t include it.

We all agree that healthcare insurance reform is needed, but we don’t need to throw out the current system and replace it with a gov’t run program….no way….medicare, medicaid, soc. security are all near bankrupt, no thanks. Let’s reform what we have, implement process improvements, open up competition across states and implement some tort reform so doctors don’t have to pay ridiculously high insurance rates for practice, this will also result in a much needed increase in students turning to the medical field to be come doctors, because right now the money isn’t there, the cost of insurance is nightmarish and students are turning towards law, where the real money is unfortunately. But Obama and many other politicians are lawyers, so go figure.

Writer off the lake, Schools, libraries and mail delivery is not free. What color is the sky on your planet? I pay over $1,000 a year directly in school taxes even it has been over a dozen years since I had a child in school. Libraries are supported by taxes and the post office is supported by both postage fees and tax dollars.

The facts (and the videos) speak for themselves. Obama and the Democrats want a single-payer system. They are willing to wait and take small steps to get to their ultimate goal. This is how they bring about “change” that most people really do not want. A majority of people do not want a single-payer system, nor do they want a government option. Most people are happy with their insurance but agree that reform is needed. That’s reform not overhaul. This plan does not reform health care or health insurance. It does not make it more portable, unless you choose the government option. It does not do anything to reduce the overall costs of health insurance. And government is not the answer. They are NOT more efficient or better in any way. Have you been to the DMV lately?
There are some true reforms that could be implemented but the Democrats are not interested because those reforms give power back to the people and removes it from government. This plan takes choices away from the people and puts more power in the government’s hands. That’s not where it belongs and not where our founders wanted it.

Good insurance, WHAT?! My insurance company recently decided not to pay for my required meds making me take something that doesn’t work. My doctor can’t do anything about it because the insurance companies make the rules!

Now if I want the other meds I get to pay full price. Yep, best health care in the world!

The cost of those meds alone is a hell of a lot more than a “socialist” health care tax.

All those shiny faced young representatives that they send around to doctor’s offices offering everything except actual sex for prescribing the latest overpriced wonder drug (no better than the generic drug you can buy at Walmart for $5.) Physicians preforming one expensive procedure after another trying to undo the effects of a lifetime of unhealthy living rather than concentrating on prevention? Hospitals forced to cost shift, overcharging those who have good insurance in order to treat those who don’t? An emergency medical system that is on the verge of bankruptcy? An elder care program that is virtually bankrupt? Disabled children and adults who cannot obtain medical care at all? Most of us are only one illness away from bankruptcy (look at the limits on that great insurance plan you have.)Where is the good in this system that you so mindlessly defend? I have been a physician for 30 some years, and I don’t see it. It might have been there a quarter of a century ago, but now it is nothing but an orgy of greed with the devil take the hindmost as it’s motto.

Right now you have the right to make a choice on Medical Power of attorneys and living wills.Wait until they mandate it. Name a medical power of attorney and let them decide when to quit to abide by your wishes. You do not want the doctors and nurses deciding it for you with a living will only.

Living Wills are incorrectly interpretted by a few uninformed staff as DNR.

Medicaid requires you to be disabled for one year, and it takes two years usually, unless you are on dialysis to get Medicare on disability.

If cheap insurance for labwork, well visits and outpatient preventive care were able to be purchased, healthcare would be affordable because diabetes, stroke and heart attacks would be prevented.Less people with kidney disease and on dialysis.More people getting medication.

People with insurance do not go to the doctor for well visits because they have to pay high deductibles.Flexible spending accounts do work.

To get Medicaid you have to be destitute.However, you get everthing covered.

This is unlike the person who worked and has Medicare who has a 20 percent co pay.

No, single payer healthcare is not the only solution, nor is it even a logical solution. As many have already stated, the great majority of the nation enjoys very high quality and affordable healthcare. Only about 15% of the nation’s legal residents do not have health insurance and cannot afford it. From what we can discern from Obama’s health plan, most of these will not be covered. Instead of spending trillions of dollars we don’t have on a socialized plan that will not cover those that cannot afford coverage, perhaps we should focus our efforts on finding a way to cover that 15%, reduce costs through tort reform, and streamline and make more efficient the existing care model. If the plan that Obama is so desperately trying to push through is so great, why won’t congress even release it for review? Why is it that the Associated Press (among others) is having to submit a FOI request to get a copy of the plan recently approved by committee in the House and is still getting stonewalled? What is in the bill that the public isn’t being told?

Insurance companies are businesses. However, making a profit has no causal effect on whether they raise their prices. They do often deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, otherwise the business model would collapse and they would not be able to continue making a profit. That is a problem and there are remedies that can be put in place for those situations if Congress chose to do so. Your comments and apparent support for Obama’s plan seem to suggest you would rather ignore the actual problems in our healthcare system and create a system that has not chance of working, would be too expensive, excessively bureacratic and ultimately deprive Americans of the type of healthcare that the rest of the world envies. Is that so hard to understand??

Interesting. Yesterday the White House went out of their way to condemn anyone who published, viewed, believed that Obama wasn’t looking to do away with private health care insurance. This video, UNCUT, makes it clear by his own words that such is exactly what he wants. “Everyone in, nobody out”. You can’t opt out and you will pay the bill for everyone else’s health care, like it or not, regardless. Seems Socialist, BY DEFINITION, to me. What part of this does anyone not understand? Further, Obama et al. LIED through their teeth yesterday denying what is viewable and hear-able right here right now. The current system needs to be improved to provide affordable health care to the 15% of Americans who do not have health insurance and cannot afford it. The Obama plan (and all other similar plans that have been proposed) does not address those 15% without insurance. If such a plan were to be passed and implemented, not only would the quality of healthcare plummet, but the cost would be such that many future generations of Americans would struggle to pay for it. Your kids wouldn’t be able to affort to take care of you in your old age simply because they would still be burdened with cost of this plan.

To all you libs out there, do yourself a favor and look at INDEPENDENT studies, stats, analysis and historical references. Try to do so without a bias. Be open minded about what you discover. Stop believing everything that the talking heads on tv tell you. You may be surprised by what you find.

Wow, my head literally hurts from reading most of the liberal posts. I haven’t seen one liberal response as to why this “health insurance reform” (as its been renamed to so as to poll better) with a proposed single payer system (yes, that’s what it is, call it OPTION if you want to) is the end all be all of solutions. Is healthcare a constitutional right? And if so why is that now more important than any other right we’re entitled to under the Constitution. Don’t we have the right to freedom of speach? Then why is the left-wing media portraying these town meetings as organized mobs because they tend to disagree and are passionate about it? Anyway, back to the topic at hand. Maybe its because I paid attention in economics and math class but the numbers of this proposed health reform bill just do not add up. How can our current healthcare system possibly support 40 million (+/- on this number as you see fit) more people with no beefing up of the system’s infrastructure, ala more doctors, nurses, hospitals, etc. I mean if you have to go to the emergency now you have to wait hours upon end…what’s gonna happen when you dump even more people into the system? Oh wait, under the proposed bill we’ll all have PCP’s. But if we don’t get a sudden influx of physicians to offset the influx of new patients we’re back to the waiting game. This is a primary problem in a lot of current socialized health systems around the world.

Another problem I have is a direct relation to Medicare (a current gov’t run program). People using Medicare tend to believe its free to use and thus tend to abuse, going to see physicians for every little thing, unnecessarily. Now multiply that by a single payer system and you see that it is an unsustainable system WITHOUT rationing or major taxing. This is where all the theories about euthinasia, state funded abortions, rationing of care, etc. come about. Its a hell of a lot cheaper to abort a fetus thats unwanted than to potentially pay for another body during the course of a lifetime, as it is cheaper to ration care for end-of-lifers. Medicare is headed for bankruptcy (ya, every administration has put their hand in the cookie jar for funds here) real fast. There are more people drawing from it than was intended…people living longer due to better healthcare (gee, imagine that).

Look, I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone who doesn’t think some sort of reform is needed. I’ve said it for years as I’ve watched my premiums double over the years. Unfortunately, trying to ram something down the throats of most Americans without any real sense of what the bill says is just bad politics. Americans are getting sick of these bills getting ramrodded through Congress without being read.

And why is there NO mention of tort reform in this bill or at least any prevalent mention of it. I mean the Democrats want me to believe that the insurance companies are “evil”, yet every lawyer who files another ludicrous law suit is not?!? Last I checked insurance companies are businesses who make money and at the same time employ a lot of people. Well lawyers are technically businesses too and also employ people. They also tend to take 30-40% of people’s settlements and Im sure ALL that money is non-profit. /wink Back to the point, if we go single payer and drive out the private sector insurance companies WHAT HAPPENS TO ALL THE PEOPLE WHO WERE PREVIOUSLY EMPLOYED BY THEM??? I so agree that we need single payer health care. I hate to pay the 30% cost of health care associated with the insurance industry. What a waste. And the red tape of insurance just pisses me off. Last time I went in the hospital I got bills for five months, many from organizations I did not even know were involved. Two were from anesthesiologists. Why two? Who asked my freaking permission to send in backups? It was just a simple operation. I ended up paying over $3000, and I was lucky to have insurance. Pity those who don’t. More work for the bankruptcy attorneys I guess.

Now I see that people in France who have major operations enjoy a higher survival rate than our people. Something is wrong with this picture. I think Obama should have stuck by his guns and driven Congress towards single payer health care, possibly a system like in France, where folks are free if they have enough money to still get insurance and still hire their own doctors outside the free health care system.

building on SEPTEMBER 12TH to protest what our government is doing. If they see us

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them.
Have you ever wondered why, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, we have deficits?
Have you ever wondered why, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, we have inflation and high taxes?
You and I don’t propose a federal budget. The president does.
You and I don’t have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.
You and I don’t write the tax code, Congress does.
You and I don’t set fiscal policy, Congress does.
You and I don’t control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does.
One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one president, and nine Supreme Court justices — 545 human beings out of the 300 million — are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.
I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because Congress created that problem. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.
I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a president to do one cotton-picking thing. I don’t care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator’s responsibility to determine how he votes.
Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party.
What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President (Bush) for creating deficits. The president can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.
The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? She is the leader of the majority party. She and fellow House members, not the president, can approve any budget they want. If the president vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.
It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted — by present facts — of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can’t think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.
If the tax code is unfair, it’s because they want it unfair.
If the budget is in the red, it’s because they want it in the red.
If the Marines are in IRAQ, it’s because they want them in IRAQ.
There are no insoluble government problems.

Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power. Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like “the economy,” “inflation,” or “politics” that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do.
Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible.
They, and they alone, have the power.

it. If you are poor, you have medicaid coverage for your medical expenses. There
are plenty of free clinics around the country that give wonderful healthcare

thinks the government is the only one who should be deciding who gets and who

you. You will have no choice. None.

Raider – First I want to say I am opposed to the Healthcare Bill – BUT – I went online and read the WHOLE Bill after reading the synopsis that is posted one line- the synopsis is not accurate on several points – page 429 does not give the government the authorization to give an order to end a patients life – this has to do with the the living will that the patient has already signed…..but there is language in this Bill about counseling for end of life etc, that has not been exaggerated and page 59 does not give the government acccess to one’s bank acount – it enables one to have “automated reconcilliation with related health care payment” there was not one word about the governement having access
Let’s keep the exaggerations out of the conversation and focus on the realities – what drives healthcare up in this country is our usage and all the research (which we need and other countries do not invest in as we do) and our lifestyles and the government is not going to artificially reduce costs -we need to make some real changes -
starting with obesity, teen pregnancy, abortions, smoking, overuse of the system, tort reform and illegal immigration. We also need to do something about the 10 to 15 truly unisured Americans. Insurance companies have already agreed to drop the pre-existing exclusions clause and if we can get Congress to recognize that doctors are afraid of thir patients and often order tests out of fear of litigation we can get some real tort reform going too, but it will be hard because the trial lawyers own the Democrats…..

PARTIALLY TRUE – HOWEVER YOU FAIL TO MENTION THE REST. From the same Harvard Study: The majority of people who go bankrupt because of medical reasons ACTUALLY HAVE INSURANCE. Many start out their illnesses with insurance while 38% lose coverage by the time bankruptcy is filed. Further, the out-of-pocket costs for those who filed for bankruptcy ranged from $11,000 to $18,000″ Out-of-pocket medical expenses covering co-payments, deductibles and uncovered health services averaged $13,460 for bankruptcy filers who had private insurance at the onset of illness, compared with $10,893 for those without coverage. Those who initially had private coverage but lost it during their illness faced the highest cost, an average of $18,005.

THAT’S RIGHT, THEY FILED FOR BANKRUPTCY FOR AN AVERAGE DEBT OF $13,460. They CHOSE not to pay a ‘medical’ debt of $13,460 and determined that bankruptcy was a better solution than paying what they owed. That’s ridiculous. That less than the cost of a new car. Heck, I know people with credit card balances higher than that. Fortunately for some, Medical is a fairly easy qualifier for bankruptcy.

By the way, we do have a governmental run health care program called Medicaid/ Medicare and they’re both BANKRUPT do we really need a third even larger albatross. I don’t care whether your left, right or center, Government (especially the current one) is incapable of running anything better than the private sector.

Raider – First I want to say I am opposed to the Healthcare Bill – BUT – I went online and read the WHOLE Bill after reading the synopsis that is posted one line- the synopsis is not accurate on several points – page 429 does not give the government the authorization to give an order to end a patients life – this has to do with the the living will that the patient has already signed…..but there is language in this Bill about counseling for end of life etc, that has not been exaggerated

You cannot imagine these “end of life councellors” GUILTING the elderly into signing

As a surgeon, I work very long days/nights/weekends; I missed most of my children’s chldhood taking care of other people’s kids; and I do a job that very few in the world can do, so that YOUR children can live a healthy life. Do you really believe that young surgeons in the future (as well as some of us not so young surgeons) are going to make these sacrifices in order to make the same income as those who don’t or can’t do the work we do, or if we become govt employees? We have less than 15 million truly unisred in the US – statistically less than those in Canada without access to a doctor even though they are technically covered? why is joining the ranks of the mediocre so important to these people?
WHO ranks the US #1 for Healthcare deliverables (actual care given to patients) but so many people neglect to read that part of the rankings – we get knocked down for costs, yet we provide not only the research for the US but for most of the world..Canada for example, which is held up as a great cost center, spends not one red cent on research, but gladly benefits from all our expenditures. And we use our system more than any other country…if you use it, well it is going to drive up the costs. To use Canada again, they hardly ever use their system because of shortages. But the real culprit was that they missed work while they were sick and fell behind on all their bills…these people needed disability insurance on top of health insurance…the study ws flawd in that this was not clearly explained.

I do agree with you that the elderly will certainly be open to abuse under the counseling clause, it has happened in Denmark, unintended consequences – we always think we will do it better than someone else – but the truth is, human nature being what it is and the massive number of baby boomers coming down the track, there are valid concerns about how some people may be coerced into early end of life decisions

On June 13, 2008 Obama made his official Candidate speech and laid out his plan to raise the taxes on all business and business owners big and small (ie for the real slim-Tardies… your employer!) and double the Social security tax on all individuals over $250,000. And that boys and girls while you were applauding Obama’s persecution of your own employer is when the exodus took off. Companies started dumping employees and moving profits offshore in the event that Obama won and made good on his promises. Every day new companies announced layoffs, but don’t think they facilitated it overnight. They were watching and waiting and planning after the super Tuesday results. Large companies, like Honeywell, Motorola, Boeing, always have a plan C on the back burner hoping they don’t have to use it, but ready all the same to implement when necessary.

So guess what Slim-Tardy, your not up with Obama and you may actually be within 30 days of unemployment. I highly doubt you’re net-up unless you’re a newbie to brokerage and only began this year. If you’ve actually made a killing over the last 6 months rather than a partial recovery, I would strongly suggest two things:

1) save up as much money as you can
2) look up ‘hyper-inflation’ in the Merriam-Webster.

From an economics standpoint, there’s a crap-storm coming like you’ve probably never seen in your lifetime.

IndyinAL is right and good for you for being objective. As citizens we need to be intelligent and responsible. Spewing cliche propaganda does service to no one. Being objective and looking for the best solution to a problem, no matter what you label that solution, is how things get done with expedience and clarity. I have received several emails bullet pointing atrocities in the health care act. When I correlate those bullet points with the actual bill a good 80-90% of them are skewed, misrepresented, or just entirely false. Not to say that I am in favor of this act. The are plenty of things wrong with this proposal without falsifying excerpts. Most of the time when I stumble upon or get directed to a site like this I am amazed at how much hate is bred with inflammatory and falsified statements. I am also amazed at how quickly I can unravel most of it with a little research on what the facts really are. If you don’t research the statements your fellow bloggers are making then you really don’t know the truth and are reducing yourself to the intelligence of a parrot. Take control of your opinion and stop letting people make it for you. If you are really passionate about being pro-active in the political arena then do just that. write your own bill, get on the street and get a petition going, or actually fly to washington and try to be heard rather than just blogging about it. But by all means check your facts…when you skew or lie about something it just deflates the argument and makes the rest of us look bad.

Sadly Dr. Barry I have seen the VA and the failure to treat our veterans with the respect, knowledge and technology they deserve. Visited my father not too long ago and raised holy-heck that he was given sour milk and a dry cheese sandwich for lunch at the VA hospital. After waiting 30 minutes for someone to even walk by his room let alone check on him I went out and got a real lunch for him. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not criticizing the medical staff. When they finally made rounds to his room, they were completely worn out but still caring. For some reason in this country, the Veterans Administration and military budgets seems to be the first place politicians think of to cut funding.

Something tells me your employees smiled and waved on their way out at 4:59 and probably never saw the late hours it really took to be successful in your practice. Probably never even questioned where their paychecks came from right on time when the tills were empty and your family was doing without. They were probably there with their hands out demanding ‘their fair share’ though when you prospered and all your hard work finally paid off, right?

I am still amazed at the stoodges who actually smiled while they voted to tax their own employers into oblivion. Think they’ll understand why they won’t see raises for the next 4 years? Should someone tell them they voted any real raises away in employer taxation?

It would seem that the majority of people on this thread are NOT in favor of government health care. A few posted about how people are hurting in the current system and others posted about socialism. I agree with these ideas.

About 17 years ago I was attending class with a girl from Norway which has social medicine. I was a college student thinking how cool it would be to visit Europe and how things were over there. Well, she shared with me about a neighbors who lost their home paying for their son’s airlift out of the mountains. She shared this as a way of telling me that the grass is not greener across the pond. I had never really thought of socialized medicine but she knew something that I didn’t.

Obama, for better or worse, is our president. I am greatly opposed to many of his plans for I find them opposed to freedom and a capitalist economy. He has been on the media constantly since October and even the media moguls are now reported as getting tired of it. His commercialized appeals are growing old. Who is taking care of things while he is playing movie star and traveling all over?

The scariest part of it all is how the people are reacting. Many do not see what is going on – that our government is changing. Today the White House is reported as sending out a message to stop the town hall meetings (to shut the people up). Think for a moment about all the many controversies that are going on with our leader – the Cambridge situation (the pres. should not have been involved), the “stupid” comment from a Pres!, the endorsement of a racist Judge -proven over several examples including the firemen, the backgrounds of the people he has been appointing, those that were to be appointed but their backgrounds were so evil that he was advised to pick others, on and on it goes. Then to top it off, he is reported as spending about a million dollars in legal fees to block the request to see his original birth certificate made by citizens since the one presented had a bad watermark and improper info. Even if one might think this to be ridiculous, why would a person hide it and spend that kind of money? Why would the attorney state that the citizens do not have a right to see it. Where are the background educational records? Why do family members say that he was not born here? These are just basic things that could easily be cleared up but for some reason are ignored. Many just overlook it and consider it all “wacky” but why are there so many hidden pieces? That is what is driving many people to wonder.

Obama said, “We are the best country in the world, help me to change it.”

I just wish people, especially younger people would wake up and realize what is going on. What government tells people to report on those who have an opposing viewpoint? Does that sound like freedom? This directive has been on TV the last two days. The White House has a website to send the report to. Socialism has been an abject failure in every Nation where it has been implemented, so why should we be surprised that Obama style Socialism would be any different. outstanding medical liability, you might want to give yourself 100 dependants on
your W-4 withholding form. If you dont, The Government will not only keep the 5000
you sent them throughout the year, but send you a nice juicy bill! … This is essentialy

What I don’t understand is what the fear is about a single payer system? When everyone participates and pays into one system, the health of the population increases and security abides. Everyone seems to thinks that like in the “hood” the insurance companies “have my back bro” well, no they do not have your back bro; insurance companies consider paying out not a cost of doing business but, cutting into the profit; insurance companies do not care if you win or lose your battle with illness; and if they see one inkling of weakness (a small business owner out in the woods by themselves) they will start the denying game. Americans should want to see the entire population and themselves have continuous, unending coverage which provides preventative care. Our whole way of thinking would change if we decided value our neighbors health as much as our own. Why do we just say, “that’s too bad” and expect that anyone who gets sick should be bankrupt and sent to the streets? Are you all invested in insurance company stock or something? I’m still waiting for someone to show me a single government program that actually functions efficiently and within budget. If any of you think that a government bureaucrat cares one ounce more about your health than an insurance company employee, you are delusional. That is why they won’t give up what they have to go on this plan. At least with private insurers if you are dissatisfied you can firre them and get a new insurer. Try doing that with the government – you can’t they are a monopoly. My father was a war time vet who is now in the advanced stages of Alzheimers. It took two years of trying to deal with disinterested VA bureaucrats (”case workers”) and incompetent Medicaid people to finally get coverage; and if you complain, your paperwork gets “lost” and you go to the back of the line.

The solution is simple: 1. Get rid of HMO’s and have people go back to paying for routine care out of pocket 2. Provide low-cost high-deductible disaster insurance so no one loses their house or life savings due to cancer or heart disease 3. Allow people to shop across state lines for coverage.

Unfortunately that would be so simple that Congress would never be able to make it into a 3000 page bill that they could hide pork and earmarks in, so it will never happen.

Why can’t someone up for office in the 2012 election would come up with this plan? The 1st 5 years
of office for Congress and the 1st year of the President and VP MUST live on the same amount of money that retired people live on……no staffing for anyone and no nannies! They should have the
same healthcare as the American public and the following year earn only that average wage
of what we earn (excluding CEO’s)! Then they get taxed on EVERYTHING we are taxed on and
