He mis-understands the entire health care system.
I can sum up what he said in one sentence: “In order to cover more people we need to collect more taxes.”

– We are the only western society that doesn’t have coverage, yet we have the best health care coverage with the largest superpower and the highest standard of living.
– It doesn’t matter that we have this health bill if you are unemployed because it will take 4 years to get the bill started. The reason for this long wait is to collect enough taxes before the plan starts so that the CBO would show the deficit will decrease through this bill. That is because these taxes will be collected and counted before the cost of the bill starts.
– You will not know what you have if the government runs it because the government still doesn’t even know what is in the bill. Remember what Pelosi said, “Lets pass it so we can find out what is in it.
– The premiums will be going up for everyone in the next few years. Those in their 20’s will have their premiums go up 17 percent with this health care bill.
– Members of Congress, Staffers, and the President are exempt from this bill, it is in the bill.

Thank GOD……All income should have been taxable years ago then the social security fund & Medicare would have never been shy of money. Social Security should be a fixed percentage paid by the employer or yourself (if self employed) on all income not just the poor and middle class. Its time the Fat Cows paid their fare share of what they’ve earned ripping off the people and don’t even have the decency to employ the people they rob. They rape us and send our money overseas for the benefit of their own fat pockets. Now we just need to hit up all companies and importers with additional taxes for taking our work elsewhere. World trade exists for one reason, to place the middle class deeper into slavery. The ultra rich want a peasant class all over again. Those are great points, and I’m glad to hear this kind of debate. I would also add that true medical liability reform is missing.
Just with regards to loss of tax breaks for corporations, I’m not so sympathetic. They’re a relic of WW2 salary limitations and these days serve as a taxpayer subsidy for big business. As a small business owner, not only do I have to pay through the nose for my coverage, but I don’t get to write off the cost of my staff’s health care. It makes small businesses less able to compete with big corporations for talent. Why not give small business the same tax breaks?
Both Republicans and Democrats love to go on and on about how entrepreneurship is the engine of America, but at the end of the day it’s always “No Corporations Left Behind”. Washington knows who butters its bread.
For all those people decrying this reform as “socialism”, you can calm down, because it isn’t. It’s “corporatism”. Both are usually lousy, but you should at least know what it is you’re dealing with.
Randy, I agree with helping out the small business owners 100%. As far as health care reform, I think market forces would solve much of the rising cost problems. If people payed cash for routine Dr. visits,
then folks would shop around for a good deal in their income range. New technologies in medicine will be expensive for a while (dialysis machines cost more than leeches) but , like VCR’s, the cost will go down over time. Insurance pools for major med. , set up similar to life insurance, the younger you purchase a policy , the cheaper your premium. Just a couple of ideas, yea?

For all those people decrying this reform as “socialism”, you can calm down, because it isn’t. It’s “corporatism”. Both are usually lousy, but you should at least know what it is you’re dealing with.

Maybe if some of you on this forum would read the bill,you would find out this is a windfall for the private insurance companies.
I guess it just makes you feel better to call Obama a socialist.
About small businesses
Starting in 2014, small businesses and the self-employed will be able to shop for plans offered through new state-based purchasing pools called exchanges. By pooling small businesses together, these purchasing cooperatives are expected to offer rates that should be lower because of 1) increased group purchasing power, and 2) bigger pools of insured customers.
Businesses with fewer than 50 employees will be exempt from the mandate, though it is expected that many companies will try to offer it for two reasons
1 The exchanges should create a more affordable option than is available now.
2 The plethora of new tax breaks and credits written into the law as incentives.
