Recall that the American press has almost entirely hidden the fact of the $140 billion per year in new taxes the Dems imposed in 2007, the multi-trillion-dollar-costing new “clean air” rules imposed in December 2007 – which by themselves are enough to destroy the American automobile and other heavy industry – and more taxes and regulations in 2008 are the cause of the recession (and they’ve done both again in 2009). That’s trillions in new taxes, trillions in new regulations, but somehow Wall Street and the Republican party which only gets less than 1/5 of their political spending are at fault, and the Democrats who did these things are innocent. Yes, the American press are very efficient in doing their jobs, which are to cover up for their party and to smear their victims whenever another of their scandals begins making it into public view by other means. And considering the media didn’t cover the corruption of the Financial Accounting Standards Board in following their Dem Cong masters in changing the way assets are valued causing the market crash because of the decline in the value of bank reserves, don’t expect anything honest to be in the press until they are defeated by rising competitors.

HENRY DAVID THOREAU was an introspective man, who wandered the woods surrounding the small village of Concord, Massachusetts, recording the daily growth of plants and the migration of birds in his ever-present journal. How, then, did he profoundly influence such political giants as Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.? The answer lies in a brief essay that has been variously titled but which is most often referred to simply as “Civil Disobedience”. Americans know Thoreau primarily as the author of Walden, but it is “Civil Disobedience” that established his reputation in the wider political world. It is one of the most influential political tracts ever written by an American.

“Civil Disobedience” is an analysis of the individual’s relationship to the state that focuses on why men obey governmental law even when they believe it to be unjust. But “Civil Disobedience” is not an essay of abstract theory. It is Thoreau’s extremely personal response to being imprisoned for breaking the law. Because he detested slavery and because tax revenues contributed to the support of it, Thoreau decided to become a tax rebel. There were no income taxes and Thoreau did not own enough land to worry about property taxes; but there was the hated poll tax – a capital tax levied equally on all adults within a community.

Thoreau declined to pay the tax and so, in July 1846, he was arrested and jailed. He was supposed to remain in jail until a fine was paid which he also declined to pay. Without his knowledge or consent, however, relatives settled the “debt” and a disgruntled Thoreau was released after only one night. The incarceration may have been brief but it has had enduring effects through “Civil Disobedience.” To understand why the essay has exerted such powerful force over time, it is necessary to examine both Thoreau the man and the circumstances of his arrest

Placed in a similar position for refusing his poll tax, the American citizen Thoreau expressed similar thought in 1849. Seeing the wall of the cell in which he was confined, made of solid stone 2 or 3 feet thick, and the door of wood and iron a foot thick, he said to himself, “If there were a wall of stone between me and my townsmen, there was still a more difficult one to climb or break through before they could get to be as free as I was.”

Thoreau may have also brooded over the reaction of Emerson, who criticized the imprisonment as pointless. According to some accounts, Emerson visited Thoreau in jail and asked, “Henry, what are you doing in there?” Thoreau replied, “Waldo, the question is what are you doing out there?” Emerson was “out there” because he believed it was shortsighted to protest an isolated evil; society required an entire rebirth of spirituality.

While I agree something needs to be done about health care, this is not it. That way we can leave in place what we have now for those who need it, and those with no health care will get the same excellent benefits that congress gets, and there will be no debate about the cost of the planm, since ONLY those who support it, will pay for it. Let’s see how well that goes over, and how many will jump ship, when the bill comes due and payable.

That is more debt than the total of all the other 190 countries combined. The peoples debt equates to $254,257 for every U.S. citizen; $652,174 for every U.S. house hold; $813,017 for every American worker that actually pays taxes.

Instead, it becomes logical, even the perfect tool of power-seeking megalomaniacs, explained the late Gary Allen. Communism or more accurately, socialism, is not a movement of the downtrodden masses, but of the economic elite.

Wow! A light bulb just went off while I was reading that post. I work on Wall Street

The St. Louis Tea Party will hold a press conference and peaceable protest at SEIU Headquarters
5585 Pershing Ave., Suite 130, St. Louis, MO 63112 at Noon Saturday, August 8, 2009.

The protest is to demand justice for Kenneth Gladney, an African-American conservative who was brutally beaten by 4 individuals, at least 2 of whom were identified as SEIU representatives. The beatings included racial slurs and required hospitalization of Mr. Gladney.

As videos show, the attack was unprovoked and no one retaliated against the union thugs.

This attack followed hours of taunts and verbal assaults by SEIU and ACORN members upon citizens gathered to express their views under the First Amendment. We believe this brutal beating is part of an organized plan to suppress dissent to the Administration’s planned seizure of the medical industry in the United States.

Anyone who believes in non-violent protest, in the rule of law, in the right of black men and women to express conservative political views, in the right to peaceably assemble, to speak freely, and to petition Congress for a redress of grievances is invited to attend.

The Tea Party specifically requests the NAACP and the ACLU to come out in support of Kenneth Gladney’s rights which were trampled by these hooligans. We call on Representative Russ Carnahan to denounce the beating. We call on President Obama to denounce the beatings. It’s people like Obama and his family who are to blame. Let’s take a look at a campaign pitch he often repeated about his ailing mother in the last days of her life. President Obama chose to politicize the tragic death of his mother to illustrate the deficiencies in our healthcare system. During the campaign, he expressed his dismay for his dying mother haggling with insurance companies about premiums while fighting her bought with cancer.

But was it the healthcare system, more specifically health insurers that failed his mother in her remaining days? Let’s take a closer look. His mother was PhD working in the international development field. She had been working in Indonesia as an individual contractor for a NY based firm. Although these positions receive very generous fees with tax credits up to $80k per year for overseas positions, contractors generally do not receive insurance from their employer. While living in Indonesia, she chose NOT to purchase private insurance even though it was something she could have easily afforded. She did not likely enroll for two reasons; one, she probably felt she didn’t need it since she could get rudimentary treatment in Indonesia at low cost, and two, her history showed that she was not someone many would consider a responsible person in her private life.

When she fell ill and realized her condition was serious enough to require treatment in the States, she returned to Hawaii and enrolled in private insurance. In order to get coverage she lied about pre-existing conditions; in other words, she defrauded the insurance company. It would be as if you bought auto insurance after being in an accident. It’s not how insurance companies operate, nor should they. They are in the business to make money, and although the pre-existing condition is an issue that needs attention, it’s not the responsibility of a private insurance company to resolve this issue.

Candidate Obama could have used his mother’s plight to discuss how people who lack personal responsibility are a drain on our healthcare system and perhaps offer solutions to fix the problems caused by people like his mother. Instead he chose to twist it and use it to his political advantage by vilifying the insurance companies. It’s clear the insurance company in this case had every right to question her claim. It’s unfortunate that his mother had to deal with these issues, but it was a result of her own failings, not the insurance company. Maybe Obama should clean his own house before he blames others for this mess.

I don’t blame Obama or (Barry Soetore). Obama is only a trojan horse planted to destroy this country. There are many snake oil salesman out there. I do blame the blind, stupid Americans
following the biggest fraud in world history. But just like Ed Koch said after loosing an electing: ” You voted for him, now be punished !”
