The reaction of the limo driver was perfect as he immediately rolled up his window to avoid responding to Americans for Prosperity – it just had “weasel†alert written all over the place.
The “carbon footprint†just to feed Al Gore in one day is enough to power an average family of four for 30 days.

The other problem is that while Gore may be an energy consumer like all us, at least his gets off his butt everyday to attempt to do productive work. 95% of the people who post messages on these sites don’t have children, and until they do, will not look closely at the responsibility we have as adults to leave this planet is a livable condition for our kids. Actually Jay…no, using a taxi is not reducing the number of cars. It IS a car. Taking public transportation means sharing the fuel burn with others so less per person. Taking a taxi doesn’t help anything. All it means is the person is paying for a private car to take there and back. You’re not using any sense at all…the taxi(car) still has to drive the same route to take the person to and from his residence…just like a non-taxi would. Talk about stupid….

Jay, I ain’t be no transpo expert, but I would think taking a taxi in anywhere else but largest cities would increase the amount of miles driven and thusly, the amount of carbon footprint emmited. This is because the cab got to drive to pick you up , then drive you where you want to go, then go to their start point. If they just stayed where you were droped off like an airport, it wouldn’t be so bad, if they turned off their cab and sat in the heat or cold. If I remeber correctly, the cabs are idling a lot!

Craig seems to think that cabs are driving around and around until a person flags them down. Not a good business model. Buying gas is a business expense so they stop and shut down when they can.
After a fare is dropped off they’ll either hang around the area or move to a more likely spot to get another fare. If someone telephones for a cab they have to drive to where the pickup is.
In most cases there’s extra road time by the cab than there would be if you drove your own vehicle.
