ya know, I just wish Santorum would get another surge…
So that is what crow tastes like?
I guess the days are gone when Republicans honored the golden rule, 'Never speak ill of another Republican'.
So, this cut tape wasn't cut from a section of tape of Newt *describing* how Oblahblah care works?
Think outside the box folks, is this what it really says it is? We are all better than that. Where's the whole tape and context?
Any way the wind blows…Newt is a RINO political opportunist…no surprise here.
Santorum won the last debate hands down and for now would be a better choice than slippery with the truth newt, romneycare and barack hussein obama. Maybe Santorum will impress a lot of floridians,
It appears that way and I thought he had enough sense to see that the left has no intentions of working together unless that means agreeing totally with their crazy progressive ideas.
Either Newt is slow to learn or a double agent . Your guess is as good as mine.
Looks as if newt has decided not to be #45. Romneycare is too much like otarded and the crazy uncle is just that ……..crazy.
Here's a novel idea. Call off the remaining GOP primaries. Let Romney choose his running mate and the two start campaigning for the presidency instead of the remaining GOP candidates campaigning against each other for the next five months. That way it would give the GOP twice as much time to campaign against an incumbent. Look back in history and you'll see that incumbents have a good chance of being re elected. So stop the Republican in fighting now and have a longer time to campaign against the incumbent. Keep up the uncertainty and in fighting and you will be able to complain about Obama occupying the White House until 2016. Romney is not my choice for POTUS but he is so much better then Obama, even taking into consideration his failed Romneycare, and has the best chance to beat Obama of any of the remaining Republican candidates.
Plenty of video on him supporting in available online. Here's but one : http://polipundit.com/?p=35094. Indeed, by his own admission he used to be for mandates. Otherwise why would he have said : "“I’ve said in the debates, yes, I used to be for mandates. I was wrong” . Link to the story which contains the link to the video saying this. http://www.forbes.com/sites/aroy/2011/12/28/gingr...
hThe audio is Newt talking about SURETY BONDS, For people who do not know what that is, it's the legal basis for Personal heathcare accounts ..the very thing conservatives advocate for , the very thing in Ryan's plan
A surety bond is not like insurance nor like a financial bond. Another example of a surety bond is a bail bond you pay to get out of jail, where you put up cash to be held but get it back when you show up for court.
In terms of healthcare, a surety bond would be money in an account to be held for your healthcare needs , If you do not use any healthcare, nothing happens to the money, it just there until you need it It's not given to someone else, it's not wasted premiums paid to insurance companies., its not run by the govenment (state or local) , there is nothing to purchase, nothing to lose .
Its only allows you an tax free account for you to pay your own healthcare needs,
The audio is edited and titled to make it seem Newt is pushing for mandated purchase of insurance, which he s not A healthcare surety bond is not a purchase, it's personal account of your own money held for YOU and you alone ……its' also transferable to your specified beneficiary, if you have leftover cash in your account after you die
This plan is inline with free market ideals and personal liberty, It will encourage patients to shop around for the best price for services, which will be lower because the doctor will not have to deal with trying to get the insurance companies to pay up. Instead of the current system where the patient never even knows what is being billed to the insurance company, therefore the provider has no reason to keep his prices low and competitive, skewing all the prices upward,
Morgan Rth posted the edited video………..
MorgenR also posted Huntsman campaign videos for Huntsman, now he's on Romney's campaign
Well since we are getting all nitpicky….
Mitt Romney was the first to implement the individual mandate into State law, the elites rather have you forget this. Obama also consulted with Romney HC advisors to craft Obamacare. Say what!!!
Maybe newt should just man up, apologize, and take himself out of the race. The very last thing the USA needs right now is back to back dishonest Presidents.
Maybe Romney should. He polls much worse Nationally than Newt.
I am no fan of Mittens Hussein Obama
Umm… After listening I didn't hear him say anything about the federal level in the audio. He could have just as easily been advocating keeping it state level to the feds.
Nothing new here.
crossed fingers…
Only the ignorant fall for 11th hour attacks. Romney a few weeks ago said the mandate was conservative. So is this edited video supposed to show Newt is a liberal, conservative, or that he was off on his dates? He says he is against it, because it is unconstitutional and that he would repeal all of Obamacare. Romney defends his blueprint for Obamacare and Norm Coleman one of his surrogates said they would keep it and only take parts out. Where are the videos on showing Romney’s hypocrisy? Is it that there is too much to put out there? I thought I was in Bizarro world when Obama got elected. Now I come to find out a lot of people I took serious were really in disguise. Romney should be ranked last among the candidates and actually should be laughed off the stage. Voting for someone who is the antithesis of what we are supposedly fighting for doesn’t make much sense. I’ll be voting for Newt on Tuesday.
There was a lot of Republicans involved with the success of the 1994 Congress. Reagan was the source of the huge increase of revenue which enabled the climate for the Republican Contract with America.
It was a good time for Republicans.
There was record revenue coming into the government at that time which allowed them to balance the budget. The cold war was over and military spending was way down too. They called it the 'Peace Dividend' and were closing military base all over the US. There was also an internet bubble pumping all sorts of jobs and revenue into that economy.
possible
If you want to solve the unbalanced system healthcare system you either have to force people to carry insurance, which is unconstitutional if mandated by federal government, although, probably constitutional in a lot if not all states or deny people care. The latter would never occur because of the compassionate outcry. The reason why we pay so much for care is that the uninsured are baked into the cake. The audio doesn’t say he is for a federal individual mandate and is moot because he says, today, he is against the mandate completely. At some point in 2009 I received an email from Newt about him being against Obamacare and the individual mandate; I archive the emails and will try to find it.
God forbid you get a negative score for giving an accurate history lesson (+1).
I'm giving up on my "score" because the audacity of critics. There is no "I" in team, but according to freedomfan and others willing to die with Newt. It's a one man band.
What do you want, Romneycare vs Obamacare
or Newt the conservative warrior vs. Lucifer?
I didn't read about that one in the constitution. I wish it were republicans were good ol' boys. But a republican is someone who stands for the republic, not whistful politicians.
"astounding prosperity that he produced" – where do you start.
In 1994, the year before Gingrich become Speaker the National Debt was $4, 693 trillion
· In 1995, the year he become speaker the debt was $4,974 trillion
· In 1996 the debt was $ 5,225 trillion
· In 1997 the debt was $5,413 trillion
· In 1998– the last year of his speakership– the debt was $5,526 trillion
But I guess when you rob social security you can balance the books.
Politicians don't produce prosperity if anything they destroy it.
But more importantly you are focusing too much on the puppets, it is the puppet masters at the fed and goldman sachs you need to focus on. It is monetary policy not the polititians that tinker around the edges.
Do you know what happens when you allow a private group of elites to control the quantity of money in circulation?
I guess you are okay with electing a 'Hillary' then? I'm sick of this 'big deal' talk. Our country is on the line. If it doesn't matter let's vote Hillary by writing her in.
Wait a second you are dealing in concrete facts, when you need to be focusing on illusion.
I guess seeing marxism up close and personal does that to a rational human being.
Newt wouldn't have wanted all the death panels. The reform he helped put through for medicare with HMO's didn't have any.
Marxism to the left of us, marxism lite to the right of us….
Either way we need another American. Too bad the establishment won't allow it with Santorum.
Thanks for the info. I’ve looked through emails Newt sent out so far I haven’t seen one mention of supporting the individual mandate. It does mention the Personal Health Care account. How ridiculous is this that Newt fought Hillarycare then Obamacare and the guy who signed the blueprint into law is attacking Newt for what he still supports.
Hahaha
I know right? Romney is attacking Newt for supporting something Romney vigorously supports
Total riot
The last time (weeks ago )a video was posted of newt alledgely talking about "mandate" He was talking about a surety bond then too
saying "if" a mandate to buy insurance is imposed, then the surety bond must be an opt out. He wasn't actuallly advocating for mandated purchases of insurance, but the conservative solution that would allow people to opt out of it.
I disagree. Prior to the obama care being rammed down our throats, the uninsured were covered for free at emergency rooms by the insured via higher than required premiums and costly services to cover for the costs ran up by the uninsured.
After having obama cared rammed down our throats against our will, high insurances premiums increased even higher to cover the costs of the uninsured. Things will get even worse once government starts overseeing health care.
I suggest that only insurance companies should be allowed to provide health insurance and government be forced to stay the eff out of their business. To cover the cost of the uninsured, tax write offs should be given to both businesses and individuals who donate money to insure the uninsured. If government wants to provide care then they should train doctors for free and in return for their training they have to provide care for the indigent for a certain amount of time. The government could rent both equipment and rooms from existing hospitals and pay a fair market value for doing so.
So no mandating that American citizens have to buy certain products just because the government says so is not the only solution.
Yeah, I'd simply LOVE to endure the collapse of the manufacturing bubble created by his tax plan. Pure interventionist brilliance right there.
Nobody said its a one-mand-band.
But what we need is someone to lead the charge to balance the budget again. Newt has proven that he has that leadership ability.
Have any of the other candidates shown this kind of leadership?
The internet didn't take off until the very late 90s. And the internet certainly didn't help balance the budget for 4 years.
The Republicans passed tax cuts, reduced regulations, and reformed welfare. Those were instrumental in balancing the budget, because they allowed the economy to grow while reducing entitlement dependants. Newt's leadership was instrumental in this.
No, but it certainly reeks of cleverly edited soundbites.
Or you're giving too much credence to soundbites.
Probably the best of the bunch.
Your video is selectively edited poorly.
newt – you are a liar, now get out!
I think you misunderstood Glenn. His concern is about Newt's contradictions and self professed Progressive leanings… which run counter to being a true small government Conservative. Glenn gives many examples of Newt, in his own words, expounding his admiration of Progressive policies ( http://www.glennbeck.com/2012/01/23/beck-hits-bac... )
I don't know where you got the connection that being a 'Newt supporter' makes you, necessarily, a 'racist' unless it's that Newt called himself a 'Realpolitik Wilsonian'… (Wilson was a major racist – he helped restart the KKK, segregated the Army and the Civil Service for starters…)
Funny. But still the same Newt…
Check the MOTIVES: Newt's CONCERN is that he doesn't want freeloaders trying to use a service they didn't pay for. He says that people can get a bond, which is a far cry from mandating people to get into the system. My guess is that he would have a way to deal with people who simply wouldn't pay other than forcing them or fining them. Say, allow hospitals to not treat them without fear of reprisal, since they made their own responsible CHOICE to not pay up front?
His Presidency wants to move us to a single payer system, plain and simple. Much different motives.
What's the point of this anyway?
a) It's a misrepresentation – the WHOLE clip tells the story
and
b) Is anyone seriously thinking that this somehow equates to implementing Romneycare???
Tolstoy 1894…The good cannot seek power, nor retain it…To do that, men must love power, and love of power has the opposite qualities of goodness, pride, cunning and cruelty'…
We see these in Obama, and we see these in Newt…Santorum and Paul have no record of cunning cruelty, but they may be a little proud…
Can any conservative tell me whats to like about Mitt or Newt? Are we out of honest and consistent conservatives whose positions don't change like a weather vane?
As Master and Commander of the Far Side of the World would say, primary voters always "pick the lesser of two weevils".
Its called the 10th Amendmend…are you against that?
A conservative warrior….Did you just listen to what you said?
What exactly is a conservative; how are we parsing conservatism today…it absolutely makes no sense. I am a moderate and glad that I can be an individual voter and not a slave to party ideology…
10 Amendment…you guys need to talk out of the same side of your months; I would think a "TRUE" conservative would be firmly standing for state's rights; even if the state is a liberal state with a liberal constituency….you guys are as big an opportunist as is your candidate
That wasn't an audio recording. Do you hear voices in your brain? Taking your medications?
The States don't have the right to have a mandate forcing commerce or anything over our constitutional freedoms.
You know, like slavery…
Individual freedoms to do as we please.
Are you against that?
So if the citizens of a state; who elect their state representatives, want healthcare; are they not allowed to have it or do you sitting in another state or you sitting at the federal level…get to decide for them?
Very substantive response…I would expect no less…
Not at all; but the states have a right to introduce and pass legislation that is appropriate for their states. Further the citizens of a state have the right to vote out their representatives who do not represent them. You as a citizen of another state, have no right to question what they do or how they do it.
The funny thing is that Gingrich probably believes at this point that he was opposed to the individual mandate. It's like those middle aged guys remembering their glory days of high school sports and knowing that they got the big hit or made the key play to win the game when in fact they struck out to end the game or fumbled the ball on the hand-off. Memory can be a tricky thing.
Republicans promote Personal Responsibility but don't want to take responsiblity for their own health care via the Mandate. Republican scumbags want Me to pay for THEIR healthcare.
Republicans promote 'personal' responsibility. Not 'state assumed and forced responsibility' via a mandate.
Remember that slavery thing?
States can do what they want up to the point where it violates the constitution.
Mitt doesn't seem to want government limited to that constitution.
States can do what ever they want, up to the limits of the constitution.
If they want healthcare they can do anything but force it on you. That freedom and liberty thing doesn't like getting trampled on.
You must be a democrat; no one else attempts the racial class warfare crap-ola. Don’t respond; folks like you are the problem.
Comparing Gingrich to Romney still doesn't change who Romney is. This still doesn't change the fact that as governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney's number one achievement was creating the most socialistic health care plan in the country. The idiotic establishment tools need to pick which side of the aisle they are on with that issue.
Sounds exactly like Romney's flip-flop. He created Obamneycare… but now ways he'll repeal Obamneycare. He is a serial career politician.
They have. They can't say so because the people don't agree with them.
No, I must be a republican since I remember history and apply it.
And I don't need your permission to explain why your'e a moron.
And a statist moron to boot, since you think my speech should be limited. That explains why you can support forced mandates on healthcare issues.
As a woman, do you want someone making choices for your body?
Where does it say that in the constitution? Enlighten me….
So you're saying the establishment is fine with the mandate?
Are you going to call me a racist if I bring up the civil war again?
You like the police state merchant mentality do you Miss? What else will the government tell you to buy…or not to buy…There go your chicken nuggets and fries you have been eating all your life…and forget about beer…Michelle will dictate your diet, little girl, and you will eat whatever she says…
If you look at how they vote, instead of how they talk…
Boehner could have made simple rule change and defunded Obamacare. He wouldn't.
Instead he went golfing with Obama.
As someone involved in the IT field, you are wrong in your facts. I worked at a computer lab in around 1992. Guys were using Mozilla then. I had no idea what they where doing. In 1996 I got a job programming web sites and created my own hobby site. 1996 is NOT late 90's. The only tax cut I remember from the 90's was the cut in capital gains tax. We also had the wall street boom and .net crash at the end of Clinton's term.
I'll give Newt credit for Contract with America. But as he got bad press he started to move to the left. That's when conservatives in the House said he had to go. Face the facts. Newt is an opportunist. He only cares about Newt and lie his rear off to promote himself.
He is down in Florida saying Mitt foreclosed on Florida homes. How absurd is that?
Oh, and if you think Newt will balance the budget, you are insane. Newt is a big govt republican. You forget his Moon base?
Santorum is the legit Conservative. Newt is a blowhard that will lie and say anything you want to hear. If you want a moon base you got it. if you want flying monkeys he would promise that too.
Vote Santorum a REAL Conservative.
this is politics not sunday school. get a grip
geeesh a Newt conspiracy cult follower. what next?
darn right and say it again Sam
We dont need either RINO, Newt or Romney. Lets pick a REAL conservative Santorum
Amen a narcissitic liar
The lessor of these two evils is Santorum
lol true.
Still wait for your discussion to begin on the enumerated powers…I will wait while you google it…
A podcast of Newt, speaking for about 45 minutes. March of 2009. He very clearly states he is against Romneycare, and TennCare. And Medical. Talks about mandates that don't get paid for. And talking about the Malpractice reform in Texas, and how it is working. And the individual. I have now listened to the entire speech. I did not hear anything about the mandate, except in the questions. And he says: SINGLE PAYER IS VERY DANGEROUS. Does not sound like an endorsement of Obamacare to me!! http://udcapture.udel.edu/podcast/watch?c=215
Edit–MediCal.
As of 10:18 CST, not one mention on media nor on Drudge. What gives Andrew?
Still wait for your discussion to begin on the bill of rights. I will wait while you google it.
Debunked nicely here: http://legalinsurrection.com/2012/01/no-newt-did-...
Most of us buy our own Health Insurance. Go buy yours.
Once again the media including FNC leads us like sheep toward one of the two poll leaders. Rick Santorum voted to help senior citizens with a market based program. Rx increasing in costs every year. Not a damn thing wrong with helping those who made this country great for the next generation. [as opposed to Obama's 15 person death panel] He will take it to Obama as good as Newt, as we saw in the last debate.
Newt cannot walk without stepping on his own toes. Rom is the guy who developed the existing HC law in DC.
The dot.com bubble was basically from 1995 to 2000 and did certainly help on the revenue side during those years.
The achievement of the balanced budget was short-lived (it was actually never even close to being balanced if you count what was being borrowed from the Social Security Trust Fund) and more the result of America's economic expansion based on reforms established in the Reagan administration than anything done by Newt's spending cuts. Newt's leadership on welfare reform was worthy of praise. I also give him credit for fighting for the Capital Gains tax cuts.
Are we speaking of the 9th Amendment now?

With your predilection towards misdirection there is no telling.
You are funny. You raised the argument; now respond.
And I explained that argument.
At this point you're simply becoming menopausal.
Newt kept his word with the American people; pretty unusual for a politician. He set out a "Contract With America" and kept to it.
Sure there were other Republicans who helped Newt. There also were RINOs like Dole and Hassert who fought Newt's agenda and kissed up the the Dims. They abandoned Newt when the Dims tried to jerk his tax exemption for his history classes. This was later found to be entirely bogus.
Look at a chart of when the S&P took off to the moon. 1994–exactly when Newt and the Republicans took over to rescue the country from Clinton. I doubt that was just a coincidence.
Newt already balanced the budget once. Who's insane, chucklehead?
aah, "Most of us"? The Mandate is designed to make sure that YOU & ALL the other rednecks in your family buy their own insurance. I'm done paying for the emergency rooms visits of you and your other toothless family members.
There is no question Glenn Beck smeared as "racists", Tea Partiers who support Newt, on both his radio and TV.
I will reconsider if I ever hear an apology from Beck, but all I have heard is his mocking anyone who was upset with what he said.
Andrew Breitbart opened my eyes.

Newt: Only politician in my lifetime to actually balance the federal budget and reform the welfare state.
According to Glenn Beck, my admiration for Newt, and the astounding prosperity he produced in the late 1990s, makes me a "racist" somehow. I dropped my subscription to GBTV.
