Don’t we have ultra light aircraft with pontoons that do pretty much the same thing?
it’s an old concept. the ussr developed huge versions to cross the atlantic w/ troops or nukes back when they couldn’t get sufficient range out of their prop/jet bombers. the lift is caused by air caught between the wing and the surface of the water. made to “skim” the waves w/out the drag of a hull or the fuel consumption of a plane attaing altitude.
Combination Hovercraft, boat, and plane? WOW! And flies with simple handlebar controls too! This guy should sell the royalties for mass production. I’d love to have one!
It’s called Wing in Ground Effect (WIG) Within a wingspan of the surface, the air reacts differently and provides more lift that at altitude. There are a lot of WIG aircraft out there. A company is using on in Anchorage to ferry accross the bay.
…….ferry across the mersey………don’t pay the ferryman
Me likey.
However, this one kicks butt-ski…awesome.

Gottawannahava!!!
Now that reporter has more balls than any main stream media type in the States ever dreamed of having.
I want one
Why do people waste their time building useless things?
The sole reason for this crazy invention was to impress that really hot chick that’s watching from below. A beautiful woman can inspire a man to greatness.
So cool!
I once saw a video of a news reporter in a homemade ultralight die when the wings snapped off at 3,000 feet — I’ll let someone else buy the flying boat, but thanks for the offer!
Doesn’t surprise me. I’ve seen pigs fly all the way to Copenhagen.
.
So how high will this boat that can fly actually go? What does it use for an engine? We have dams with 100 foot lifts in the navigation locks. Will this device have to go through the navigation lock as a boat, or can it fly over the navigation lock like an airplane in both directions? Damn, I would like to have one of these.
…….how bout skimming over ice ice floes, um like the arctic, and hitting, um….prudhoe bay?
avatar: Made me laugh!
The large, Russian version was called an Ekranoplan:

I would pay that if I was closer to a lake. That is cheap. Reminds me of the guy flying last week with something attacked to his back and it only cost 79 thousand which is also cheap considering the technology. I wonder how many they will sell before they get sued when someone gets killed which will happen as soon as they go on sale.
Cool, very smart guy with the chick magnet…of course theres always the commenters who are smarter, heehee, polyester on parade!
i think newzlands libilitys laws are very different then ours.
