Los Angeles Times: The U.S. military indirectly confirmed that the man shown in the video was Bergdahl, and asserted that he spoke under duress.

Good !!so don’t belly gripe after trillions of dollars were wasted in iraq and continues to be , and last i check none of the people from 911 was from IRAQ. so please do dial me back and try again. this is getting funny.

brent   December 25th, 2009 - 6:27 pm

we-need-to-mind-our-own-business I agree with you on this but because they attack our country on 911 we can no longer cover our heads and wished they would not do it again. If you allow Muslim terrorist to do what they want then every innocent person on earth is being held prisoner to them because they will do what they intend to do which is terrorize and kill people who do not belief in what they do. I wish we could clear this up but we will never clear it up unless the terrorist are defeated. This war is a waste of time because these people will never be peaceful. This is just something our country will have to endure unless all the terrorist die out on their own which will never happen. We will never kill them all as some say so we will have to defend ourselves the best way possible and right now that is what we are trying to accomplish.

I would just like to point to Article 5 and 6 of the Code of Conduct for Members of the Armed Forces of the United States…while I understand why he is saying what he is saying, he is dead wrong for doing it.

V
When questioned, should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies or harmful to their cause.

VI
I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.

John,

When you reference Art. V it states “I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability.”

Obviously the kid is under distress and probably did evade making this statement until threats were made against him if he did not. He did not make any disloyal statements, nor did he say anything out of context from what he is taught concerning capture prior to deployment.

I guess my point is: Why are you on here pointing out what you believe is dead wrong on his statement? He is a prisoner of war by people that don’t utilize the Geneva Convention. The military personnel are tortured, beheaded, etc. This kid in my mind is a hero.

I myself having served out there, maybe instead of trying to poke holes in a video you should sit down with your family and say a prayer for the kid. Hopefully he will make it back to his loved ones.
