New ABC Show ‘V’ Takes Aim at ‘Obamamania’

Chicago Tribune: The news media swoons in admiration -- one simpering anchorman even shouts at a reporter who asks a tough question: "Why don't you show some respect?!" The public is likewise smitten, except for a few nut cases who circulate batty rumors on the Internet about the leader's origins and intentions. The leader, undismayed, offers assurances that are soothing, if also just a tiny bit condescending: "Embracing change is never easy."

I think they’ve finally got the reptilian nature of the socialists… “Resistance is futile.”

TearEmUp   November 3rd, 2009 - 9:52 pm

All this show is doing is following the spirit of the original series. As much as I would like to think that someone in Hollywood is taking aim at the administration, I doubt it. This should be a non-story.

rob   November 3rd, 2009 - 9:54 pm

just watched it. interesting stuff! cant wait to tune in next week

rocha   November 3rd, 2009 - 9:56 pm

“V” is for Votenosis for the Hopenosis.

Yeah, “Embracing change is never easy”. Like change from the Whitehouse to a prison cell at Leavenworth? You Socialist/Marxist liberal pigs are going to be really suprised when this coup of yours fails. Remember those news reels of the Nazis being marched into the courtroom at Nuremburg? That look of fear and disbelief on their faces? That’s what is in store for you! Think about that PUNK!

Obamanable   November 3rd, 2009 - 9:59 pm

YES it is true, V = O, O = V. The creepy truth about the radical Leftist plan.

FastFacts   November 3rd, 2009 - 10:11 pm

Cue the Twilight Soundtrack. Interesting parallel and isn’t it funny that this was written by ABC writers? And yet this is exactly how Obama has been running ‘his’ country since he was elected. There is also a great article on http://www.americanparchment.com that come with this that talks about the similarities of these clips/film.

Reminds me of Gene Roddenberry, his first Star Trek shows dealt with social problems in his episodes.

I would have thought (1)Enoch – The Watchers, and Nephilium was a better comparison to Obama administration….

bravoromeo   November 3rd, 2009 - 10:16 pm

glad brietbart picked this up
“They have the most dangerous thing…Devotion”. So many people worship Obama…
“embracing change isn’t easy”…just like Obama said
There’s a resistance…just like the tea parties.
Even the delivery of the V leader reminds me of Obama – emotionless.
The young folks embrace the V’s.

Webster   November 3rd, 2009 - 10:45 pm

Tell me this won’t get squashed by Axelrod/Rahm.

Libertygirl   November 3rd, 2009 - 10:51 pm

I couldn’t help but think as well that this show was taking aim at Obamamania… too many similarities to ignore…. and I LIKE IT!!!

Switallas   November 3rd, 2009 - 11:07 pm

WHY?, WHY?, WHY? would anyone patronize ABC (or any other network, for that matter)? This network is die-hard Obama. Turn the TV off and read–you’ll be better off for it: across the board.

BrainDeadRepublican   November 3rd, 2009 - 11:55 pm

The original V series was a makeover of the nazi fascism takeover of Germany. It was easy to read between the lines and see the similarities to history. As with a lot of parables, the names can change, but you can see the similariies in the motives of the characters and the lesson to be learned. The old V mini series was too long ago for the under 40’s to have learned anything from it. This new series is a new parable for the young. Maybe they will learn the lesson.

LLL   November 4th, 2009 - 12:25 am

Maybe they should make the uniforms purple.

CovertSway   November 4th, 2009 - 1:39 am

ABC is not really knocking “Obama-mania” and his administration’s power hungry ways. ABC is actually “Numbing” America to the seriousness of our march toward socialism and fascism, by lowering it to a “popcorn-and-tv-night” fantasy. In reality, our march toward socialism is no fantasy that you watch while eating popcorn. I guess if ABC cannot bring their news division to question the Obama administration with boldness and seriousness, they can at least make puff entertainment shows that portray it as well…..fantasy.

George Williams   November 4th, 2009 - 5:48 am

Wow, that sounds very familiar! Gotta love it! I’ll be tuning in….

Did the priest look a little like Nana Pelosky? A little?

Bah Bah Barack Sheep   November 4th, 2009 - 11:10 am

If you see similarities in those clips, with the current administration, what does that tell you deep down in your gut?

AtlasObjectivist   November 4th, 2009 - 1:43 pm

It looks like the people of New Jersey And Virginia have already caught on.

AJR   November 4th, 2009 - 5:05 pm

It was a good show. I’m glad they kept the Reptillian stuff in. I’ve noticed everything is the color gray in these sci-fi shows these days (which are all remakes of Star Trek or Battlestar and now V).

I, too, got an Obama vibe. I always felt that way, though. I couldn’t figure out how someone with such little experience would make the great president. Then they start comparing him to Kennedy, like he’s the new Jack Kennedy. I thought that was Clinton when he got into the office. Neither of them are Kennedy, to tell you the truth. I don’t think the administratoin is doing well and all the signs point to down. I think the show picked up on the hype of him. People who questioned him were yelled at by people who claimed he was the greatest of all time. I don’t care much of celebrities anymore.

Dwight Reagan   November 5th, 2009 - 10:58 am

This show must be easy to write for just watch Fox or listen to any good consertive talk raido , maybe this one way of waking up the lame who arent seeing what is realy going on in America, with the only differance being The Dems are communist well sorta from another planit !
