The New York Times: "We had more than 15,000 buffalo sacrificed Tuesday. But the number of goats and birds, including roosters and pigeons, sacrificed Wednesday is countless."

DISGUSTING BARBARIANS   November 26th, 2009 - 4:25 pm

WHERE IS PETA WHEN YOU NEED THEM???

WHAT A BUNCH OF DISGUSTING BARBARIANS! G*D IS NOT AMUSED.
WHAT so-called “religion” engages in such atrocities?

MiPAin   November 26th, 2009 - 4:46 pm

And so ends global warming as soon as the rest of us kill off all the other methane producing animals OHHHH PETA come here PETA

momatolya   November 26th, 2009 - 4:51 pm

If the meat is used to feed people I don’t have a problem with it.

FastFacts   November 26th, 2009 - 4:53 pm

I wonder what PETA has to say about this. Thousands of dying animals, for no reason, you don’t eat them, they aren’t sick. Will PETA go down there and protest or sue the religion? Probably not, they are too busy spreading lies about Turkey farms and Thanksgiving. They put out an ad against eating Turkey on Thanksgiving and no cable station would run it. It received plenty of viewers due to the story the news sources did on it. Thank goodness they added explanations in article forms about the false information in the ad. Check out the commercial on http://www.americanparchment.com and read the article that goes with it about how no one would run the commercial.

WOW finally now that “Catcher In The Rye” thing makes sense.

MiPain   November 26th, 2009 - 5:05 pm

In all fairness from the Guardian

The dead beasts will be sold to companies who will profit from the sale of the meat, bones and hide. Organisers will funnel the proceeds into development of the area, including the temple upkeep.

In any case I would rather be a cow then a water buffalo

For I desire mercy, not sacrifice,
and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings.

Where is PETA when you need them? God is not amused. What so-called “religion” engages in this kind of lunacy?

Red Carolina   November 26th, 2009 - 11:53 pm

if only the lefties showed such tenderness and understanding with conservatives… this gets my “LOL Award” — ridiculous lefties…. they can’t handle Baby Jesus, but are willing to tolerate this….

checkit   November 27th, 2009 - 5:16 am

So I take it they do NOT need any food help, and have an excess of meat for years to come??

seriously   November 27th, 2009 - 10:01 am

using it for meat, so you have not problem with it? are you serious? does anyone who just watched this massacre truly believe that even one percent of those 10000 buffalo not to mention the “countless” other animals could be processed for food? you are out of your damn mind and have just shown the typical ignorance and arrogance of the western mind, which would not dare judge manifest lunacy for fear of seeming parochial, but at the same time showing oneself to be completely ignorant of some of the most basic concepts of how our modern world works, including food production.

Commieobamie   November 27th, 2009 - 11:13 am

The slaughtered animals are taken back by devotees to their villages and eaten during a feast. The meat is considered blessed and consuming it protects them from evil.

So anyway they eat em!

MMMMMMMMMMMM hamburger!!!!!!!!!

Other   November 27th, 2009 - 2:17 pm

Man that must have been some bbq.

pig   November 27th, 2009 - 2:43 pm

They EAT them. Nothing wrong with that. I wonder how many Turkey’s were slaughtered in the past two weeks. My guess is the number is huge in comparison.

The odd part is the “sacrifice” to the sky Gods. People are messed up, but as long as YOUR sky God doesn’t say you have the right to kill ME — since I worship a different sky God, or none at all….I’m ok with it.

Sounds like they’re going to have a massive BBQs all over the place, and invite everyone to eat the “blessed” meat. Cool.

–Perhaps I’ll bring the beer.

Sick – and pagan.

Ritual slaughter of animals has been a part of the human experience for millennia. Some believe it developed as mankind’s way of coping with the necessity of killing domesticated creatures nurtured since birth. Humans revere the animals, demonstrate that reverence, and make use of the animals’ gifts. Perhaps this ritual shows more respect for animals than does a westerner purchasing beef at a store.
