Sweet and lucky kid; a genuine hero too. Not so much the 911 operator who was doing her job. I dunno what the point of this meeting was. Now did anyone get a description of the “three gunmen”? Three men–Hasidim, Swedes, Insurance CEOs–who could it have been? PC news strikes again.

I love this kid. I love how he said to bring soldiers. He knew they are heroes that will save him from the bad guys. This kid is awesome!

God Almighty, what are gunman doing breaking into a private home at random! Sons-of-B@#%*! I hope Carlos’ Daddy went out and bought a big ol’ gun.

While I’m glad that the situation didn’t have a tragic ending, this is an example of how the media is playing up that “911 is always the answer”. In reality, the boy and his family are all very very lucky to not be dead after calling the police. The intruders were just as likely to eliminate all witnesses after discovering that the police were allegedly on the way. The fact that they ran away astonishes me.

Also, the police have no legal obligation to respond to 911 calls, and frequently don’t.

You are right, Joe. Remember the older lady in Oklahoma (I think) that had 911 on the line while some meth-head was breaking into her house? She would have been dead if she hadn’t had the phone in one hand and a gun in the other.

The boy did good! However, that family was lucky. It only takes a couple of minutes for derranged gunmen to kill everyone.

Remember, when seconds count, the police are ‘only’ minutes away. Every family member 12 and over should be trained how to use a firearm and have them loaded and accessible via instant access electronic combination safes.
