MSNBC’s Maddow Slams ‘Pray for Obama’ Secret Message

"Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow."

November 19, 2009 at 7:14 am - MSNBC
Dateline: New York, NY
myleftbrain   November 19th, 2009 - 7:20 am

It’s a man!!!

dykestach trimmer   November 19th, 2009 - 7:31 am

How was her coverage of the radical Muslim that killed 14 at Fort Hood?

myleftbrain   November 19th, 2009 - 7:32 am

And you have to dig to extend this message to the next verse. You actually have to go read the Bible to extract this “hidden message”. Whereas, messages from hateful Muslims that are blatant, explicit, and obvious are ignored and unreported by the media, like the message the Fort Hood killer and the people he looked up to spew here in America every day. MSNBC chooses to ignore those messages, and instead try to put words in the mouth of Christians.

Thanks for revealing once again that you hate Jesus and his followers and wish to protect terrorists instead. Good job.

Lol, It’s psalms 109:8 not 109:8-9, they’re adding an extra verse…

G.Sheeler   November 19th, 2009 - 7:57 am

his days should be few, as long as he`s removed after 1 term. no man should interfere. God will do as He will. yes prey for him. that he might get wisdom, instead of what passes for that now

claudehopper   November 19th, 2009 - 7:57 am

Ya know, MSNBC should be happy with Breitbart. If not for this website, no one would see this stuff. And they can count the comments as viewers!

Good Riddance Obama   November 19th, 2009 - 8:09 am

Now this message is “hope and change” that I can believe in. I wonder if it will be paiinful.

Emudude   November 19th, 2009 - 8:14 am

Psalms 109:8 (from the King James Version) Let his days be few; and let another take his office. MSNBC’s Chris Matthews is a total Idiot. There is no reference to verse 9 on the T-Shirt or Bumper-Stickers. More Spin from the Lame Stream Media. This Verse is in the Hearts, Minds and Prayers of all true Christians concerning the current President of the US.

wukong   November 19th, 2009 - 8:16 am

Geez Frank, where are the religious nut Christians who are strapping on bombs to wipe out orpanages or San Fran bathhouses?

alongcameaspyder   November 19th, 2009 - 8:29 am

109:8 alone is out of context, as Americans love to do!

America is NOT Israel, that verse has NOTHING to do with the politics of America.

God ALONE is Sovereign. Not men, especially not Americans. Though Americans think they are.

God runs the nations, and He ALONE sets up the leaders of ALL nations, and because “shall wax worse and worse” (2 Timothy 3:13) means what it says, and says what it means, He WILL set up evil men to do what evil men do.

What do evil men do? They wax worse and worse!

Christ’s people, the FEW among any population (Matthew 7:14) were given one thing to do, and it wasn’t politics!

But men pretending to be Christ’s don’t want to do what He wants them to do, so they pretend to have a ‘christian nation’ to tend to.

And they have pretend rights from God that negate the REQUIREMENT that they be like their Master!

Just remember, God chooses all leaders of ALL crooked and perverse nations, of which the US is at the top of the list, for its pretend christianity!

Psalm 75:6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
Psalm 75:7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.

Proverbs 8:16 By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

Proverbs 21:1 The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.

Daniel 4:17 …to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.

Daniel 4:25 …till thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

Daniel 4:32 …until thou know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

Daniel 5:21 …till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will.

(When GOD repeats something that many times we OUGHT to pay ATTENTION, don’t you think?)

BullDawg   November 19th, 2009 - 8:29 am

Madcow, Madcow get your head out of Obama’s a@# and report the news and quit acting like your still at the National Enquire. Your daddy Obama is destroying the U.S. and you could care less. Busyme   November 19th, 2009 - 8:43 am

I’m outraged that the liberals ‘extend’ this verse to include the next one, which definitely is NOT added to the message by Christians or conservatives, in order to call us ‘fringe’, paranoid, deluded and hateful. Spin is one thing, but this demonization and the accusation that anyone displaying this bumper sticker is violent just makes me burn.Rachel Maddow and Frank Schaefer are insanely OVER THE TOP on their STOOPID and inciteful analysis here! THEY are the ones who protect the blatant, crazy messages yelled by murdering terrorists, but have to LIE and invent scary warnings to caution everyone to beware of us dangerous right-wingers!

THIS is unjust, untrue, unethical and unacceptable. I will be sending my views to both entities immediately. For SHAME!

Snoopy   November 19th, 2009 - 8:47 am

What an ignorant hate filled propagandist, she thinks it’s her duty to foster paranoia . Read some history books Maddow , paranoia goes with the territory.

The Mexicutioner   November 19th, 2009 - 9:01 am

Im not a bible thumper or anything, but what would 109:9 have to do with a shirt that says 109:8?
Why does a man have a name like Rachel anyway?

RayMaxwell   November 19th, 2009 - 9:05 am

The items do not refer to 108:9. They refer to 108:8; it is simply a catchy way to say they want Obama out of office. Where were Madow and Shaeffer when all of those terrible things were being said about Bush and Reagan? And of the Tea Party citizens? Were they throwing bombs or were they indignantly calling for proper discourse? I know that Madow joined the giggly chorus of those referring to the Tea Party citizens as having their faces slapped with a scrotum. Hardly a dignified approach to political discourse.
Of course there are wackos on the right. But why do RM and other progressives need to dig to find a Christian target while dismissing the true danger that is Radical Islam and Progressive Socialism?
The dangers of Radical Islam are equaled only by the danger that is the New Socialism that the participants like to call Progressivism. How dangerous was Mao? Stalin? Hitler? They were all socialists, and the progressives can’t stand it when they are-justifiably- called socialists. Indeed, they have a religious inflection toward their agenda, and will try to destroy anyone who is a danger to them. People like Palin, Joe the Plumber, Fox News. Anyone who calls them a socialist is immediately branded a racist or a bigot. They simply have no defense for accepting the label of socialist, so they lash out rather than try to win the debate by defending their position.
It is all part of a game. A means to control the ill-informed.
As a practicing Catholic and a conservative, I know that the core of Christianity is peace, charity, personal responsibility and above all else, forgiveness. Conservatism has the very same tenets at its core along with the reluctant willingness to fight and wage war for what is just. Condemnation of violence, extreme positions and bigotry toward Obama or anyone else is prevalent among Christians and conservatives. We see such acts as a threat to our goals, not to mention being immoral. Shaeffer and Madow don’t see this because they refuse to look.

k train   November 19th, 2009 - 9:20 am

As always, Richie Madcow embellishes the truth to attract viewers who would otherwise hae a shred of common sense not to watch propaganda like MSNBC. Geez, feel like slappin’ her with my family bible!

cs   November 19th, 2009 - 9:47 am

I proudly display the “Pray for Obama 109:8″ decal. It is exactly what is in my heart and thought: New International Version ~ May his days be few; may another take his place of leadership; New American Standard Bible ~ Let his days be few; Let another take his office.

Nothing more, nothing less.

Let the madcows and matthewses, et.al., go crazy, they are most deserving of having cows and going nuts! ;D

Static99   November 19th, 2009 - 9:59 am

Hmm, wonder if anyone has pointed out to her the irony of this situation…I don’t seem to recall her being upset about people doing the same in regards to Pres. Bush…that’s odd, isn’t it? If she has, feel free to point it out.

I disagree entirely with the suggestion that something violent happen to the President…that is uncalled for, imho. However, I also don’t want to see him removed from office until the next election – anyone who suggests he should be needs to look at who is next in line for the job. While I can’t stand the President’s politics at all, the next few in line for the job are not only like-minded to the President, but they are also raving lunatics, whereas Pres. Obama isn’t a raving lunatic.

I agree with a prior poster as well – if it wasn’t for Breitbart, MSNBC would have even fewer viewers.
I’m still waiting for the “news media” bailouts that will officially make MSNBC a government entity.

Commieobamie   November 19th, 2009 - 10:00 am

Thanks IDIOT!

Great posting RayM. Ditto !
Thanks to the Andrew Breitbart staff for posting the MSNBS clip. Since only 41 people watch his/her show we would never be exposed to his/her wealth of wisdom.
Lastly, what method acting school did he/she attend? Really, that trademark raised eyebrow look gets old even in a 3 minute clip.
Happy Thanksgiving All

MolecularConserative   November 19th, 2009 - 10:10 am

I could not be more opposed to Obama and his destructive policies than I am.

And I am a Christian.

I, personally, would never electively choose to “hook” my political opposition to this man to any scriptural inference.

I’m already, to a degree, conflicted about this: where and when does my vehement opposition to this man, based on my personal definition of patriotism, begin to conflict with my mandate as a Christian. I KNOW that it regularly occurs that my anger over what this man is doing to my country begins to diminish my ability to love, to forgive, to be compassionate. When this happens, I always feel like I have reversed the intended hierarchy of my pursuits: I am a child of God, first and foremost.

JC From Chattanooga   November 19th, 2009 - 10:29 am

What happened to this same media when the movie of the assassination of Pres. GW Bush was being hyped.?????????(how horrifying was that?)…HMMMMM? Don’t even want to go there with you…. I do see your ratings, I do see newspaper subscriptions going down the toilet…..Like the writer stated above…. don’t worry about the Christians…. worry about their Father…..

H2K   November 19th, 2009 - 10:30 am

I do not fear Christian teachings, in fact I find them comforting for the most part. I’m glad we are a Christian nation.

Having said that, given we knew the electrified response from such a T-shirt, why don’t we

simply vote Obama out at the next opportunity – without a T-shirt?
In the short term, why don’t we neuter him by removing the democrat majority in the house and senate in 2010?
Why don’t we filibuster confirmation of all of his liberal judge appointments now?

col. ed wilson   November 19th, 2009 - 10:34 am

Real fair and balanced reporting here! Seriously – they can attach Fox news to crazy fringe at every turn? More Christian bashing! Attempting to attach God loving people with Islamic Jihad? Liberal claptrap married to Christian bashing. Michele–in the post above–is right, it isn’t Christians we have to worry about. It is the crazy MUSLIMS who’ve been murdering. It wasn’t Christians who flew into the trade towers, or beheaded those bound people, bombed London and Madrid or shot up all those folks in Fort Hood.

It is this sort of scrutiny that should be leveled at Islam, and their actual murderous record, rather than the overwhelmingly positive force that Christianity brings to the world. MSNBC should be ashamed.

Won’t be long until Obama (blessed be his name) rounds up all these “murderous” Christians and develops some sort of “final solution” to deal with them. His propaganda wing just got there before he did. I’m sure the next campaign slogan will move from, “hope and change” to “prayer mats and dashikis for all.”

mjdzfun   November 19th, 2009 - 11:07 am

I am a very strong conservative but I think this is the worst campaign that could be produced. It is basically saying “Death to Obama.” Pray that God will Kill him and that is wrong. These are Democrat campaigns that completely destroy and hurt the cause. You people are being stupid and radicals. It is the extremes that hurt the cause. You can not say that you support our cause in trying to influence others and then go out and tell people to kill Obama. Not cool, not right, don’t destroy the cause with these radical tactics. Its like the pastor in Arizona, he is being an idiot for praising the death of Obama. Stop it.

Shiori   November 19th, 2009 - 11:31 am

Liberals always reinterpret the bible the same way they reinterpret the constitution to suit their own world-view and propaganda needs.

Still waiting for the left to apologize about all of those books and movies about assassinating George Bush.

Dear Lord: Let his days be few; Let another take his office.

Common Sense   November 19th, 2009 - 11:35 am

There is little to no journalistic integrity at msnbc. What was maddow’s coverage like of the massacre at Ft. Hood? Did she go out of her way to label the shooter a terrorist? Or did she bend over backwards to try to claim he just snapped? There was only 1 verse quoted not two. And it could very easily only mean ‘may his days IN OFFICE be short. This in no way calls for the shortening of his life. The narrative constantly being pushed by a very biased liberal media to marginalize conservatives needs to be confronted at every turn and shown to be what it is propaganda.

Sue   November 19th, 2009 - 11:39 am

Who watches this female and why? Don’t waste your time or give her one more blip on her disappearing viewership.

DAvid   November 19th, 2009 - 11:48 am

This Maddow guest has quite a rant but not much substance. Like all HuffPo so-called experts, he has written in HIS OWN interpretations and even claims a kind of expertise (in human behavior–”inciting violence”) which he obviously does not have. So typical of this ‘off the deep end’ fringe. Christianity is clearly based in the New Testament where Christ is the fulfillment of ‘the Law’ (Old Testament). How much more pacivist can the center figure of a Faith be than laying down one’s life for others? When violence was used in an attempt to thwart the crucifixion, Jesus immediately put a stop to that! By history or tradition most if not all of Christ’s followers peacefully forfeited their life for this cause and early Christianity thrived in the midst of persecution. What part of this do Maddow, her guest or the extreme Left not get?

Kyle in Texas   November 19th, 2009 - 12:04 pm

It is “Pastors” like these, unwilling to confront the evils in front of them and speak the truth instead of this “itching ear doctrine,” that will indeed one day answer for their apathy and complete deceitful rhetoric. As a Pastor, you have a duty, indeed a command to preach the whole of the Bible. It is your command to not leave one truth unspoken. It is your call to confront sin and evil where it stands. And it is your job to expose corruption as laid out in scripture. This man is a disgrace to the Christian faith because he is an apologist, and has been for a very long time. Do some research on him and find out some of the other crazy things he’s said before. The sad state of the American Church and the Western Church in general. Furthermore, no one has said, “May God strike him down.” And if you want to be technical about it, go back to verse 1 and see exactly what is being spoken of. Nothing like a “little” spin from the left and the loons that adhere to this paranoid delusional behavior.

Chris   November 19th, 2009 - 12:07 pm

I am about as conservative as they come and I despise Maddow, but the message is wrong. Anything that might even be construed as inferring harm to an American President is inappropriate. I am an American before I am anything else. I vehemently disagree with the narcissist Obama and his corrupt administration on just about everything, but at the end of the day he is still my president and I would take a bullet for the man because I’m a patriot. I respect the office of the Presidency and those who have served proudly before him. I refuse to stoop to the level of so many liberals during the Bush years.

KEITHOLBERMANSMOM   November 19th, 2009 - 12:31 pm

I told Keith, you guys did much worse to Bush!

He said, I know Mom, but this is different!

I said, how is it different?

Mom, this is Obama they are talking about, he is the savior we have waited for after that mean and ugly man Bush!

Well, Keith – it seems to me you can throw a punch but when you get punched back, you start crying like Rachel Maddow!

There is nothing wrong with this shirt, its called free speech Rachel and you need to deal with it!!!!

frank01   November 19th, 2009 - 12:38 pm

So you all are actively encouraging cherry picking verses of the Bible out of context? That is tantamout to blasphemy. Forget that you don’t like MSNBC or whomever Maddow’s guest is…..the verse that follows the one on the T-shirts is incredibly damning if it is to be applied in prayer over the President of the United States!

Jeremy   November 19th, 2009 - 12:49 pm

That man is as much of a christian as my dog is, HYPOCRITE

I just love those christian terrorist that behead a raghead on CBN or my pastor who holds public executions of a infadel, People this real, this prophecy straight from the bible where evil is good and good is evil.

Where was this phony schill when Moveon.org called Bush a Nazi? Where was all that self-righteous indignation then? Where was all the fear-mongering about potential revolutions when leftist radicals were engaging in acts of sedition by blocking ammunition shipments to our troops? How are Christian nut-cases even on the same level as Islamic jihadists–sorry, I don’t dig evangelicalism, but I’ve never heard of Evangelicals hijacking airplanes and ramming them into buildings. Doesn’t the “blood of tyrants” quote come from Thomas Jefferson? Everyone knows that Obama’s not a Nazi. He’s a Communist! And it was only 109.8, not 109.9, so why do they act like it was both Psalms? Shame on them for that. Nothing wrong with praying for his removal from office–except that it would leave us with that dolt Biden, and move Pelosi up the line.

sunsetsabunch   November 19th, 2009 - 1:01 pm

The t-shirts cite Psalms 109:8, which reads:

LET HIS DAYS BE FEW. AND LET ANOTHER TAKE HIS OFFICE.

Yet the host & guest keep including Psalms 109:9 in their spin.

Somehow I’m not surprised they can’t even recite a Bible verse accurately.

kmichaels   November 19th, 2009 - 1:45 pm

Yes, the republican far right is asking for assassination, since that is the LIBERAL TALKING POINT pretty much every day. Then the idiots at MSM want to know why the idea of it is so popular. Never heard it spoken on conservative channels, however on the LIBERAL CHANNELS you hear nothing but talk of assassination and racism. The liberals want you to have a certain extreme view about those that oppose Obama so they will repeat their theme daily hoping for sucker votes for the current idiot in chief marxist.

kmichaels   November 19th, 2009 - 1:55 pm

Bottom line on Obama is that he is evil and he will receive an evil man’s reward. No amount of crying or whining will change him outwardly. Obama, like all of mankind has a chance to repent and change his evil ways. But barring that miracle he will take part in the second death, wherein he will be rejected by God and will be cast out.

Andrew   November 19th, 2009 - 2:01 pm

A ungodly nation would not elect a godly ruler, nor would an godly nation elect and ungodly ruler. Obama is in many ways the face of our nation. If there is a change that needs to be made it needs to start among the people.

Northcon5   November 19th, 2009 - 2:11 pm

kmichaels   November 19th, 2009 - 2:16 pm

Isaiah 3 predicts that evil liberals will be rewarded with evil.
It also describes the current deplorable condition the USA is in.

Isaiah 3:
9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.

kmichaels   November 19th, 2009 - 2:18 pm

A deceived nation could easily elect an ungodly ruler.

kmichaels   November 19th, 2009 - 2:21 pm

Matthew 24:

15 When ye therefore shall see the aabomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

txmike   November 19th, 2009 - 2:23 pm

A quick google reveals that Frank Schaefer is not currently involved with the Church and he is more involved with the progressive nutjobs found on huffington poop. Raymond Maddow really is a paranoid delusional and yet he still has a tv show. More superior reporting by MSNBC that obama says he trusts. Go figure. Maybe this report will get Raymond another private visit with Ogoober.

kmichaels   November 19th, 2009 - 2:23 pm

Isaiah 3: (talking of immature leaders ruling over the people)

4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.

This sounds much like our current idiot kid president.

This man is the son of one of the most Godly, Christian, modern day prophets – Francis Schaeffer. “Franky” was the producer of all of his Father’s videos made back in the late seventies, early eighties.

“Franky” is pathetic and a sell out. A disgrace to his family and makes his living by turning against those that gave him his start. He just didn’t have the mental capacity to step into his father’s shoes when he died, so he just whored himself out I guess.

Mexicutioner……Rachel Maddow is not a man….she only looks and acts like one. I think she’s a lesbian.

DR   November 19th, 2009 - 5:00 pm

I don’t wish Obama harm, but I’d wish Madcow… Maddow would stop being a lezbo freak!

Ha-Ha   November 19th, 2009 - 5:13 pm

sick, disgusting, vile… about what you’d expect from the righties. and the pastor is right on… and not the first to equate YOU FREAKS with the Taliban. He couldn’t be more correct.

DB   November 19th, 2009 - 5:14 pm

Maddow is quoting two passages Psalms 109 verses 8 and 9. The T-shirt is only for verse 8. This is a so misleading. You can’t trust her to tell the truth.

YouDude60   November 19th, 2009 - 5:25 pm

A whole rant based on a biblical verse that was NOT cited.
Exactly WHO is the paranoid one here, Ms. Nobody’s Watching?

109:8 is succinct, polite, legal, moral and ethical.
It wishes for Obama the same Presidential experince Jimmy Carter and
Bush 41 experienced- a single term. Furthermore, it conveys a wish for
change… how can that be a bad thing?

If only the left was so controlled about their desire for
GWB’s time in office to be as breif as possible.

arkyump   November 19th, 2009 - 7:14 pm

What does maddow know about the bible. She probably had to have her assistants look it up.

jstan442   November 19th, 2009 - 10:39 pm

i gotta get me some of those so i can send them as gifts to all my friends and relatives!!! hey! madcow why don’t you tell the truth or are you afraid you will go up in flames(you know libs aren’t known for truth telling)? it is psalm 109:8-she could look it up herself but i’m afraid she is a Bible illiterate-stop adding things that aren’t on the shirt-YOU are the one making insinuations that aren’t there-YOU are the one along with the fake conservative mr. shaffer.

Albert   November 19th, 2009 - 10:49 pm

Big T   November 19th, 2009 - 10:56 pm

If Jesus Christ himself were here, he would be appalled at the name calling, using the Bible to ’smack’ people, and how His teachings of love and acceptance have been ignored. He never told people to leave, but called them into his circle. I’m amazed at how people use religion (yes, Christianity as well as other religions) to further their own personal beliefs. Christ must be weeping as He sees this.

Tish   November 20th, 2009 - 10:15 pm

Funny how she repeatedly includes Psalms 109:9 when it was never intended to be a part of the joke. If it was intended to be included, the biblical cite would have read Psalms 109:8-9. It does not. Oh well, she shouldn’t let that pesky fact get in her way of a good, liberal story!

mark   November 20th, 2009 - 11:48 pm

here’s short verse….even you with limited IQs and Beck-like attention spans should be able to handle

Jesus wept.

It’s really unsuprising Breibart TV and the vast majority of your “community” support this TREASONOUS RAC.I.ST crud.

It’ll make it so much easier for the FBI to find every last one of you.

Nattylite   November 22nd, 2009 - 10:17 am

What these two knotheads have effectively done is basically incite to harm the President. Some idiots will actually believe what they say and may do something horrible. I would not wish that on O, but it is idiots like Madcow that cause the problem by ‘adding’ to the facts. Those two active brain cells of hers must be on overtime.

bloodhound   December 2nd, 2009 - 9:06 am

This guy is a lost cause. Is Muddow and Rosie McDonald kin, or lovers? Sure look alike!

The idiot says that Christians are always asking why aren’t the muslims speaking out against their terrorists, but why no one is speaking out about this. He Dummy, how many terrorist acts and innocent people do Christians Murder? How many Christians stap bombs on themselves and blow up children? Ok, Timothy McViegh, any others? Then this A§§wipe should shut his face!

I, for one, do not want to see Obama§§ killed. That would give the Legion of Demons a Martyr and then we would have to go thru all this crap of having another Leader(?) of his likes. Let the DisHonorable Narcissist, Hussein Obama§§ finish his term and then lets get America back on it’s feet. Or, Impeach the Pontus since he cannot prove he is an American Citizen! Let’s just get rid of this Marxist Piece of Garbage of a Ponus ASAP!
