MSNBC Admits ‘Unable to Verify’ False Limbaugh Quote But Issues No Retraction or Apology

Newsbusters: During the 3:00PM ET hour of live coverage on MSNBC Friday, co-host David Shuster admitted that racially charged quotes he and other hosts attributed to Rush Limbaugh had not been verified: “MSNBC attributed that quote to a football player who was opposed to Limbaugh’s NFL bid. However, we have been unable to verify that quote independently. So, just to clarify.” Shuster did not formally retract the quote or apologize.

‘Unable to Verify’

Bet Rush is warming up his lawyers as we speak!

And he can afford some mighty expensive lawyers!

Too bad Obammy didn’t blather about this.

LOL HAHAHA HEHEH LOL

Gandhi's Fist   October 16th, 2009 - 4:55 pm

Just another way to repeat the slander. Rush–get em.

d.b.cooperisalive   October 16th, 2009 - 4:58 pm

I hope someone does this to MSNBC’s Mathews and Olberman. For some network to put out some morally wrong information about them without verifying. This is why the only ones I watch on MSNBC is parts of Morning Joe. How’s the ratings MSNBC?

Pathetic attempt at COA

I shall always remember Shuster for running down the street after Gary Condit. He was scurrying after him while shoving his mike out in front of him. He seemed so horribly needy and desperate at the time.
He’s done a few good reports here and there, but mostly he’s just a shill for the same crap network.

GO GET 'EM, RUSH!   October 16th, 2009 - 6:14 pm

What a bunch of liars and hypocrites ON ALL THE NETWORKS. First they deliberately report FALSE STORIES to tear down a guy, then when he’s out of the running, they show up with their mealy-mouthed excuses and, in some cases, apologies… HOPING THEY DON’T GET SUED.

WON’T DO YOU ANY GOOD. RUSH WILL SUE ALL YOU LIARS–AND WIN!

Robert   October 16th, 2009 - 6:34 pm

Wheres the laughter and background circus music when snowball was attempting to cover his asss?

pepito cojones   October 16th, 2009 - 6:48 pm

David Shuster is a liar, a coward and a schmuck! Nothing more was expected from him or PMSNBC.

shane2813   October 16th, 2009 - 6:53 pm

RUSH played you guys like a fool. Never LIE about someone who has 15 hours a week of air time. YOU LIARS!!!!!

Derrylane   October 16th, 2009 - 6:59 pm

What did you expect from MSLSD? Fair and balanced news?

Liberals Are Parasites   October 16th, 2009 - 7:06 pm

This why PMSNBC is last in the ratings, but their to stupid to figure that out.

David C.   October 16th, 2009 - 7:07 pm

This isn’t even an apology. Rush needs to sue them and make them pay hard in public. If he doesn’t, more people are going to get railroaded by these evil liars.

txmike   October 16th, 2009 - 7:39 pm

Lame which is no surprise. Just consider the source MSNBC

demdicks   October 16th, 2009 - 8:00 pm

msnbs and cnn —– No ratings for you!!!!

Dave   October 16th, 2009 - 8:54 pm

Rush could own that cow pie network, if he wanted it.

msnbc is totally irrelevant   October 16th, 2009 - 9:02 pm

Obama’s racist FCC guy should investigate msnbc for wasting valuable cable space.

Perseus317   October 16th, 2009 - 9:10 pm

I wonder what would have happened if people on Fox News had said, “Although we have been unable to verify that Chris Matthews is a child molester, we think that somebody said that Chris Matthews is a child molester somewhere along the way. We have not been able to find any of the children that Chris Matthews molested, so the fact that Chris Matthews is a child molester has not been independently verified.”

I’m sure that Matthews, MSNBC, and the entire liberal establishment would be screaming for a hanging before sundown. The actions were basically the same. An accusation was made, without any verification, and was perpetuated throughout the liberal media. Just as in my made-up example, even repeating the lie, and not saying that the story was not true, the media is again attacking Limbaugh. The hypocrisy is clear. If some conservative were to launch a similar attack on a well-known liberal spokesperson, he/she would be condemned. However, when the liberals slander a conservative like Limbaugh, they don’t even have to admit that the claims were false, nor apologize for what they did. I would LOVE to see Rush Limbaugh sue these clowns for every penney they have. What they said was not true, and Rush was financially injured by the slander. Go get ‘em, Rush!

Nick   October 16th, 2009 - 9:13 pm

I just watched back-to-back the sincere retraction and apology of CNN’s Rick Sanchez, and then Shuster’s segment from MSNBC. Big respect to Sanchez for being a man, looking square in the camera and admitting he and his staff were wrong about the fake Limbaugh quotes. As for Shuster — what a smug, smarmy little diva this guy is.

I mean, seriously….what is wrong with that entire network? So angry…so snide…so nasty. Apparently a five-second apology is too beneath them.

Keep it up, MSNBC….these repeated offenses are going to pile up, accumulate and backfire on you someday. It will really be fun watching your continuing decline, and wondering how low your ratings need to plummet before they pull the plug on your entire wretched, stinking excuse for a news channel.

I’ll look forward to the day when Shuster, Olbermann and company are reduced to hawking tacky gadgets on overnight infomercials.

shane2813   October 16th, 2009 - 9:58 pm

Little Crissy likes little boys??? Who would of thunk it? He must be good friends with Roman Polanski. Now we know what that tingle is running up his leg. Uncle Crissy tell us it’s not so. LOL!!!! See we can play this game too. The old Leftist Media made the rules so lets play the way they do. What about that Rick Sanchez. Anyone have some dirt on that guy? After him lets get Wolfy on CNN. MARXIST=DEMOCRATS=TERRORIST All the same.

BigMac   October 16th, 2009 - 10:03 pm

BSNBC hasn’t got the scruples to apologize for anything, why should they?
They put that pantywaist Keith Olber-Woman on every night and then have the audacity to accuse Rush of being hateful?

They won;t apologize because it would destroy their reputation: as world-class liars and hypocrits.

At least it gives us something to laugh about! Long live the morons at BSNBC!

Steve   October 16th, 2009 - 10:05 pm

David “Slappy” Shuster is a joke. He’s so far removed from reality by now. And Camryn Hall is no better. MSNBC is like a snake pit.

BJC   October 16th, 2009 - 10:11 pm

Does anyone else find it ironic that the same week Anita (with a severe tongue problem)Dunn from the White House claims FOX tells lies, CNN, and MSNBC have to claim they told lies. The Great El Rushbo does it again! Thanks Rush, you have made them to look like the fools they are. Nice to see them HAVE to admit to it though! I would still sue them with the money you would have used to purchase the NFL team.

Kenny C   October 16th, 2009 - 10:24 pm

That’s O K MSNBC……I’ll just eliminate you as of now from my remote…..I watch Fox anyhow……hey people catch Red Eye on at 330 in the morning on Fox…..It has more viewers than these clowns at prime time….it’s a hoot….you’ll love it

Larry   October 16th, 2009 - 11:19 pm

“Sometimes, when no one is looking, I like to strut around in women’s clothes.” – David Schuster, MSNBC

I’ve so far been unable to verify that quote. It doesn’t mean it’s untrue. I’ve just been able to verify it.

shane2813   October 16th, 2009 - 11:35 pm

David Schusters friends are members of NAMBLA. It was on the web. See two can play this game. Everyone feel free to join in. You guys hear anything about David Schuster? MARXIST=DEMOCRATS=TERRORIST All the same ask the LIAR David Pervert Schuster.

Cowboy Diplomat   October 16th, 2009 - 11:47 pm

What would happen if someone started a rumor that Keith Olbermann said “Hitler had the right idea but went a little overboard” just to see how it affected NBC’s Football Night in America. The anonymous individual could later deny saying it and offer no apology.

the kid from oakland   October 16th, 2009 - 11:57 pm

these guys are a bunch fools and they seem to enjoy making fools of themselves. i want rush to clean their clocks. i want it to be public and ugly for the MSM.

Jon   October 17th, 2009 - 12:41 am

You know, if we are so concerned about “green” technology, I think CNN and MSNBC should shut down and save the planet because of their blatant waste of electricity. I mean, think about the polar bears. Then again, if CNN and MSNBC were still around for the polar bears, they would probably kill themselves anyway. Its a lose lose for the polar bears.

Mark   October 17th, 2009 - 2:05 am

That’s not a retraction. I think the lawsuit should go forward against
Shuster and MSNBC. Mark Tulsa, OK

Randyl2   October 17th, 2009 - 3:03 am

My mother always told me, “Don’t apologize if you don’t mean it”. If David Shuster did apologize he would just be lying yet once again, so either way he’s still an a_ _.

Don't Drink the Kool Aid   October 17th, 2009 - 10:01 am

One less show I need to watch….back to FOX network….
