Before Rome fell, the art and culture of the time shifted. The standard of beauty moved towards chubbier physiques because of soft and indulgent lifestyles. The scholars and universities were at the pinnacle of their influence and power and encouraged the youth of Rome to explore hedonism and social dissidence, orgies and drunkenness.

Decline is a choice, yet that is precisely what the Left is offering Americans.

I just pray it is NOT too late to change course. Considering how horrendous the Dark Ages 1.0 were, I have no interest in living through the Dark Ages 2.0.

justiceatlast   October 26th, 2011 - 2:03 am

As Americans, all of us should respect the right of citizens to assemble, air grievances and so forth. Vulgar behavior and language; insults and assaults; tent cities, drug dealing, rapes, robberies, unsanitary living conditions and other activity — infringing on the rights of others — should not be tolerated.

Across our country, people have been given ample time over the past month to make their point re Wall Street, etc. Local authorities, meanwhile have shown incredible restraint in monitoring behaviors to ensure that the rights of everyone have been protected.

In Oakland, which according to news reports, appeared to be one of the more unseemly protest sites, action to break up the assembly was long overdue. Further, what started out to be a protest with many meritorious aspects and, quite frankly, had begun to resonate with a wider number of people, was suddenly starting to turn ugly.

This being the case, protest organizers might well be thanking Oakland authorities, in coming days, for breaking up a protest that was on the verge of self-destructing after making some significant headway with the public.

LoganSix   October 26th, 2011 - 4:37 am

I just don't see how they are going to properly fight a revolution holding those cameras up like that.

Seems to me that would make them easy targets.

Wesley69   October 26th, 2011 - 5:12 am

You saw this coming. Now all the cameras will be on Oakland as the drama unfolds. The activists have a target that has reacted to their actions. Now they will play it up for all its worth. The ringleaders will naturally be urging his/her followers forward, while leading from behind.

John_Campbell   October 26th, 2011 - 5:30 am

Something here doesn't fit. The claim is "……… with authorities using tear gas to respond to demonstrators' repeated agitations."

Where's the tear gas? I see smoke, not tear gas. Even the police in the video are not wearing gas masks and neither the police nor the "Occupy" bunch show any signs of tear gas affect.

SMZ99   October 26th, 2011 - 5:35 am

I'm getting sick of seeing the ads for Rosie O'Dumbo showing up on these youtube clips! Chrome + Adblock Plus, you're disappointing me.

Anyways, this video is useless without knowing who started it. But I have my suspicions that it wasn't a cop.

SaveTheRepublic1791   October 26th, 2011 - 6:16 am

This looks like Europe. These are victims. They set the conditions of these actions. Victims are also people who don't want this to happen. AB and other sources have exposed the "Arrestables," and others who set themselves up as "victims." These people threaten and create the environment for the police to do these things. They are to blame.

John_Campbell   October 26th, 2011 - 6:24 am

Are we sure it's tear gas though? Have the police confirmed this? I ask because I've had tear gas training, as does anyone who has been active duty military, and if that was tear gas they would have been seriously dumping their sinuses without gas masks and air supply. All I saw was flash-bangs and smoke in this video.

John_Campbell   October 26th, 2011 - 6:28 am

Note to the "Occupy" bunch: If you want to get arrested, first go home and take a bath. The police will likely prefer to arrest someone who at least smells sweeter than someone who just crawled out of a sewer.

SoNotShocked   October 26th, 2011 - 7:15 am

Saw your video. Hey, how many times did Tea Party people get tear gassed? Pretty sure it was none. Maybe that's because they were not only peaceful but in compliance with the law. How many arrested Tea Party people? None. How much feces cleaned up after Tea Party events? None. Even more impressive, thus far the Tea Party has dramatically impacted the make up of political dialog in the country all while the Republican and Democratic establishment attack them. Your pals are a public nuisance, in many cases a health hazard, people have been raped, drugs have been sold. They violate ordinances for sound, for safety, for public health. Nothing peaceful about that.

canadianlady2   October 26th, 2011 - 7:19 am

American Fall. Brought to you by the radical Marxists in the White House Administration, in fellowship with American Universities of Liberal Arts, the American Main Stream Media, and a grant provided by The George Soros Foundation. Since the MSM refused to report on the fomenting violence before these riots started, they'll be served up to the unwitting masses as "'sudden outbreaks" of police brutality, and given saturation coverage by CNN's, Wolf Blitzer, under the headline, "Police Brutality in Oakland: Day 25." Then, they'll plant the seed in the minds of the masses that they should lump them in with the greedy corporate capitalist Republicans, the crazy, racist Tea Party, and those Islamophobic Christian kooks.

MR2   October 26th, 2011 - 7:28 am

No one knows how many Occupy encampments there are nationwide, but every one of them is a living testament to President Obama's failure to oversee an economic recovery.

During the Great Depression, tent cities of homeless people became know as Hoovervilles, to the embarrassment of one-term Republican President Herbert Hoover.

If the Occupy protest tent camps persist through this winter, Obama will be haunted by these Obamavilles straight through to the election next November

The reason is Tea Party Protests were peaceful. Even with SEIU types there to offer contrary opinions, violence never erupted.

I'm using Rome as a very loose metaphor for America. I suppose I'm referring mainly to the period where Rome began to open up its gates and allow Germans to trickle in, when Rome was sacked. Rome was sacked from the inside out as I understand it, first weakened internally so that when the hordes really showed up in the hills outside Rome it was impossible to defend on two fronts.

Doyouwantmore   October 26th, 2011 - 12:34 pm

You know how liberal Hollywood and the media painted this foreboding picture of the military over the last twenty or thirty years? Even though the military and police are generally the best-behaved, most faithful of Americans, we've been conditioned to instinctively fear and hate the "Miltary-Industrial-Complex".

Yet all that time the University-Industrial-Complex was the group of people that were colluding and collaborating to seize power and influence and exert control over policies and education. It's gotten to the point where the only thing you're guaranteed to receive at a secular University is weed, a sense of entitlement, and a yin-yang tattoo.

The University-Industrial-Complex is the evil thing that we feared the Military would turn into; a behemoth that takes over America without anyone being aware of it.

Not every suicide is accomplished. You didn't think hard enough. LOL It used to bring a temporary loss of liberty but today the gov marks people for life, forever deprives them of other rights and pretends it is all done "reasonably".

Thinker822   October 26th, 2011 - 6:04 pm

I guess I didn't. The whole notion of laws for people who try to kill themselves is on teh absurb side of things. Even if the botch the suicide, how can you punish them that will make them want to live? Makes no sense.

Just like the OCCUPY movement except suicide is a willful act of self-determination and the OCCUPY movement: a bunch of leftist drones.

SoNotShocked   October 26th, 2011 - 7:14 pm

When the fakers came into the TPP rallies they stood beside them with signs attesting to these leftist plants. It was a brilliant way to peacefully expose them. I love the tea party gang.

A_pen   October 27th, 2011 - 7:24 am

That no man be deprived of liberty without just cause is the key in understanding suicide "laws". The "illegality" is only to bring the suicidal to proper care, not to punish. You are quite right that anything other than help is an incentive to not screw up. I could name hidden "punishments" that our congress has instituted under the guise of being reasonable. In fact these deprivations of liberty and pursuit of happiness through "reasonable" policy exist throughout the system, not just for those whom we are talking about. It's absolutely wrong since there is no charge, no due process and no appeals to hidden policies. Of late there has been one in particular I've heard a lot about. I won't get off topic except to say it has affected a vast number of people and was made "ex post facto" or in other words, to apply to millions of people after the fact. In most cases they don't even realize they are going to be considered criminals as they are one at a time encountering law enforcement for any other reason or they attempt to exercise that right.

Oh, and the supreme court allowed it even though the constitution expressly forbids it. OWS is nothing but a manufactured event that is being made to look as if it were a huge crisis so the gov can legislate and act even further outside the confines of the constitution…just to keep from ever being held to account. It's akin to the judge telling the suicidal man he'll be brought to the cliff of his choosing if he pays for the ride.
