‘Mini’ Race Car Flips Into Crowd During Australian Event

SMH: In horrifying scenes, the Mini Cooper S of north Queensland driver Kain Magro tumbled at high speed into the crowd after rolling and smashing through a wire fence at turn six in the curtainraiser to the Ipswich 300 V8 Supercar race at Willowbank.

They should have learned from NASCAR who have increased the safety of their races by huge amounts recently, including raising the heights of the guard fences.
The US leads the world in racing safety, and others should be paying attention to what we do here.
I have seen cars flip wildly like this one, only to bounce off the guard fence and back onto the track. Usually, and amazingly, nobody gets hurt.
It’s a dangerous sport, but so are many other sports, and so far, drugs and porn and such have not infected auto racing, at least in the US. Let’s keep it that way.

This is a great metaphor for the Obama presidency. The crowd came to cheer and rather than thrilling the crowd by staying to the promised course, Obama and friends careened off the track and with great zeal, did an in-your-face to the once adoring crowd.

True about racing in the states. I am an MMA fan and it surprises me how much a human body can take from Bull riding to car crashes and everything in between.

Holy Crap! I hope every one ends up ok. Talk about an exciting day at the races for some people. I can’t imagine a 2000+ pound object made of metal hurling into you, on it’s edge, and be totally unpredictable in it’s path. Crazy.

Wow, I am a racing fan for 30 years now and I thought as this point in time a country like Australia would be up to modern standards on car racing safety. This track from what little I saw in the vid looks like a death trap and almost was. I would expect such lacking standards in Eastern Europe or Russia but Australia?
