In my opinion when a group of people from another country come into your country and try to change your method of government, it is an act of war. Isn't it? Speaking as a LEGAL immigrant/permanent resident, I would like to know why this judge is not required to uphold FEDERAL law?
The documentation I received with my “green card” states rather specifically: “The Permanent Resident Card, Form I-551, is issued to all Permanent Residents as evidence of alien registration and their Permanent status in the US. THE CARD MUST BE IN YOUR POSSESSION AT ALL TIMES.” (emphasis mine) While I am understanding those who are afraid to carry such a precious document, the law says we must, and *I* do. I keep mine in a travel belt on my person (so that someone stealing my purse would not get that card). Living in a foreign nation means always carrying around papers. That’s a fact even Americans face when anywhere other than here.
Therefore, the judge’s statement that some people would be specially inconvenienced/burdened by being required to prove citizenship makes no sense to me. The only immigrants who wouldn’t have their green cards on their person and ready to show police would be ones who were ALREADY BREAKING THE LAW.

On the drivers license… you have a simple block..
US citizen YES or NO.
That then becomes the state requirement for public assistance, voting and criminal activities.
Better yet add a space on the back for finger prints. .. DNA.
Make it mandatory for all registered voters to use a DRIVERS LICENSE or a State ID.
State ID is required for medicare, Voting, public assistance IF you do not have a drivers license.
you do not get any of the FREE TAXPAYER MONEY.
Now that simple process will pay for itself many times over in voter fraud, medicare, medicaid fraud and public assistance for NON CITIZENS.
CONTROLS ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION as well.
And guess what… STATES CONTROL DRIVERS LICENSES not FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

The only people who should truly be upset with illegal immigration are the American First Nations people. As their name suggests, they were here first and all our (white) ancestors who arrived from the 1500's onwards are their illegal immigrants. I'd also suggest people take a page from their proverb, "Never Judge A Man Until You've Walked To Moons In His Moccasins". Too many people here aren't trying to take a step back and look at this from anyone but their own point of view. I challenge anyone here to live two months as a Mexican national living in this country, then tell us how many times you were pulled over for no reason, had white people make fun of your name, try to get a good job that pays well.
We also forget that our (white) families went through the exact same problems and challenges we're seeing today with Mexican immigrants. I know all 4 quarters of my family came over (from 3 different Euro countries, 150-200 years ago) without any papers or ID and were stuck on an island for a while. Eventually they let us in. Just like they let the majority of your families in. A lot of the same challenges were happening then as they have now: Famine in Europe vs. Poverty in Mexico. Why were our families eventually let in? So that we could work in fields, factories and other low paying jobs that nobody else wanted to do. Eventually after we started getting better and better jobs, we added to the tax base, contributed to society and shunned immigrants that came after us. The same mistakes we made back then are happening again. We never learn.
Wake up. Think about where you came from. Think about the struggle your ancestors went through to get here. Then think about how similar your family was to the Mexican immigrants entering today.

I have a family member in law enforcement in Phoenix and he was down there for 12 hours and said the scene was so much more intense than what they showed on TV. He said there protesters taunting him and other police, saying "we own you now" and when they didn't respond the crowd got a little more intense and at one point were chanting "kill 'em, kill 'em" This is far worse than we know.

Guevara helped overthrow a US supported Dictator in Cuba, spoke out against Apartheid when it wasn't popular to do so and executed lots of people in his positions of power. He did some good and some bad. Some people take the good parts of his message and use his face as a symbol for this message. Prior to 1848, the Mexican government invited settlers to occupy Texas territory. They also imposed upon those settlers a vow of allegiance to Mexico and a conversion to Catholicism. It worked for a while but, unlike the sheep who currently flee Mexico and points south, the Texican's, unhappy with the way the government in Mexico City tried to run the province, revolted. The rest is history and perhaps a lesson for today.
