The last paragraph alone is not yet cast in stone. You and I will write that paragraph. Will it read as above or will it be a more happy ending for most of America ? Personally, I like happy endings.

Single payer will happen… eventually. So there is no point in fighting it, it might take liberals in US another 10 or 15 years but one day they will push it down everybody’s throats. But here is good news: I lived in Canada and can tell: single payer is not too bad. It is “digestible”; let me put it that way. And I know what I am talking about since I also lived in Russia and I can compare Canada to other countries. So here is my plan for American conservatives: instead of fighting Obama on this health reform help him get there faster. Like in Canada everybody in US would have government health insurance by default. But unlike Canada everybody in US should have right to opt out. If an individual or family decides to go with private insurance, they should get a fair reimbursement from the government. This right to opt out should explicitly be written into the American Constitution. So make Obama a deal: Republicans help to setup Universal health care, in return Democrats pass a right-to-opt-out Constitutional amendment. So at the end you still have private insurance, and yet everybody is covered. The only alternative is fully blown single payer system just like in Canada or UK. Think about it!

I too, have lived under the Canadian system and can say, that Canadians do love the their health care unless they have to use it. In a country where a dog can get an MRI before a person, much could be done to improve that system. Also, when wealthy or powerful Canucks get ill, where do you think they go to? The UK, France, Denmark perhaps? No, they all go to the good ol’ US of A. Recently, the Quebec minister of health got a bypass in–you guessed it–the USA. What will happen should the single payer socialist con job pass is that service will diminish, costs will rise and those with power–like politicians–will continue to get the best of care, whilst the public gets what the politicos wouldn’t have. The day politicians agree to take the same benefits as John Q. Public, then I’d think about it, but almost every democrat, voted such an amendment down. What is going to happen to all the people dependent on the system when the money runs out? I am very concerned about what is going to happen to the elderly. It makes me sick to think about it. How are you going to prevent rationing? How are we going to care for so many elderly people? Don’t you think the money will run out faster if we start covering more people, especially since nothing is being done to reduce the cost?

My father-in-law spent one month in the hospital last year (3 weeks ICU), it came to over $300,000. How can we pay those kinds of bills for even more people?

In order to sue for liable–which you suggest–they’d have to prove that they are not communists and Marxists. Kind of tough to do if all you hang around with is socialists, communists and Marxists. So far Obama has been a lousy president-his administration, the worst in a generation.

Obama was as big a mistake electorally as Carter was in the 70s, perhaps worse. The man, his administration, special czars and core supporters are Moon-bats of the first order. The Canadian system has done “so well” over the past few decades precisely because we, the free choice, take care of yourself, system was located strategically below it like a giant safety net. I know this (particularly for the rather rude fellow up the blog line with a fascist approach to writing along with spelling issues – eubonics?) as I have been a physician and watched the news reports when the Canadian system would not have any money. They would shut the clinics and just have emergencies dealt with. (btw, again for the enlightenment of the rude man, fascism, social democracy and stalinism are all out of the same sick twisted trunk – socialism). I thought I better comment on that before he wasted valuable breath hurling invectives all over the place.

I have heard that the Canadians, along with several other countries are trying to get back to private insurance. Folks, it really doesnt take sense to figure out that government is the worst possible ‘clinic manager’ we could have. The coldness, lack of caring as evidenced in England under the DHS when that boilerplate letter was sent to that young woman denying her the treatment for a reoccurence of her cancer but blithely telling her they would fund her euthanasia meds. Now isnt that precious? No signature either. No responsibility. You see in medicine on the other hand, we carry a tremendous amount of responsibility. This perhaps a major reason over 50% of practicing physicians plan to leave, many with exit strategies firmly in place.

If that werent bad enough, I am sure you have all read about the Kuumbiya (sp) experience medical schools are going to have. When I went through the government used racism to guarantee certain numbers of other cultures. Apparently that isnt good enough for the messiah, he is going to really increase that. I will let you in on a dirty secret. Because a bunch of morons decided that we had to have x number of black females each year as doctors, schools would take care of the quota people first. Now think about that. People dont all apply at the same time. Colleges dont matriculate at the same time. Thus it turns into sort of a first one in the door wins the prize. We saw that happen big time with over half of the black students in our class failing out in a couple of cases and repeating a year in others. Plus we had several that were part of the Black Muslim Racist group headed by king louie, no getting along with the infidels, no sir! One guy did ultimately soften up and became a friend, his name is Greg. They were from a school in Chicago. You see grades are only one facet, you really cant be a black power racist and expect to do well in the real world. Back on point, all quotas filled, and now we sit down and go over the white males which made up the vast majority of applicants. So for one group – percentage of melanin and XX vs XY. The other had to earn it. Is anyone surprised at floundering? I also heard of several people who had to wait until the next year to apply and get accepted. trick question – quota or non-quota? Quota – they, though qualified to go to school had to get in line for that system. Government is not the answer unless you are looking for those who are accountable for all of this crud…

The free market has already begun to leave. I have pilots tell me that Thailand, etc is where some of the best medicine in the world can be had. Great service, top-notch US trained physicians, and low cost. Low you ask? Yes, no ambulance chasers… They strive to do good work not out of fear of punishment but out of the freedom allowed them.
