Dave, unless your part of a union, a retired federal employee, or are still working beyond the age of 65, seniors don’t have much choice about being on Medicare. By law, they have little choice. They can go on “Advantage” plans, almost 3 million seniors have, however part of the Obamacare plan does away with these plans. Talk to any senior that has JUST Medicare, they will tell you it sucks! Without suppliment coverage provided by PRIVATE insurance carriers, your out of pocket $ exposure is enormous. Do you know how many Dr’s will not treat people covered by Medicare? Don’t you have to wonder why? Why do you think AARP has become such a large organization, approx. 40 million members? The MAIN reason is to take advantage of discounts on their Medicare suppliments! If Medicare was such a good plan, why would seniors need suppliments?

First of all genius, there’s a good chance that he had NO CHOICE but to be on Medicare, because his employer or private health plan dumped him when he hit 65. It happens all the time. They say “sorry, but you have Medicare now” and cancel your plan. Incidentally, that’s EXACTLY what will happen if the “private option” comes into play. That’s why the CBO says over 100 million people WILL lose their private insurance under this plan. Oh, and the fact that nobody will be ALLOWED to sign up for new private plans if they change insurance for any reason.
Second of all Mr. Mind Reader, how do you know he doesn’t know? He probably knows very well. Unlike your side, conservatives actually read bills and know what’s going on.
Third, he DESERVES his government-run Medicare……..he PAID for it. I know this is an alien concept for a liberal, but generally when one pays for something, they expect to get it. On the other hand, most conservatives would be more than happy to sign papers exempting us from both Social “Security” AND Medicare if we could stop the government from taking that money out of our checks against our will.

Obama’s plan would require CUTTING Medicare benefits, deeply, in order to pay for the free entitlements of the lazy bum youth generation. In other words, Obama’s plan would have robbed this guy of what little he has now. And as we all saw, from the bill, it wasn’t very generous to the elderly. In fact, so “unfriendly,” they actually removed the “death squads” clause.
Tort reform is the ONLY way to get health care costs down, but as Howard Dean recently said, his party doesn’t have to backbone to go after tort reform because his party is OWNED by the sleaze bag ambulance chasing lawyers that file frivolous lawsuits that drive up the cost of malpractice insurance and health care in the first place.

This was the worst interview I’ve seen in awhile. He should have started with the facts. I’m still not sure who started the fight or why. I was on active duty with the Air Force, and the only way my dependents could get dental care was to get a space available slot in the dental chair in the month of my birth. You had to wait until the 1st of the birth month to call and make an appointment for them. Every year when I called at 8am on the 1st, I found out the dentists were booked solid for the month. SO, my dependents got no dental care unless I paid for it on the economy out of my pocket. This is the type of care you get with a nationalized health care system. Now that I am retired, I am on a outsourced private insurance company that the government covers because I am a retired veteran. Comments like the guy who says “this guy is already on a government health care system, so why is he demonstrating against this one?” are really incredibly ignorant. Everyone on medicare knows that a nationalized system will be diluted to a system much worse then they currently are covered under. Just look at California. The economy is down and teachers are being furloughed. What makes you think you will get adequate healthcare under that sort of system?

I have the answer to all of this. We can solve this crisis with two pieces of legislation.
1) Make all medical/dental/vision insurance companies illegal in the United States and Possessions. The president says they are evil, so Barack, put up or shut up. Work with Congress and make them illegal.
2) Prove to the world you are not owned by the American Bar Association. Cap all medical malpractice damages to twice the cost of the operation/procedure. Also set lawyers fees at 10% of all net proceeds resulting from the suit.
This would do away with two ‘evils’ and force Americans to grow up and handle their own health care. I’ll bet the cost of health care would go down immediately. Don’t you?
After all, we’re all adults here. Why shouldn’t we all be responsible for our own health care? Why would we look for a handout, begging like illegal immigrants or other human debris?

I have been nurse for forty-two years; worked with insurance for six years. The public option that is now proposed and the present Medicare are different. At the present, MEDICARE have very little medical restraints for what the treatments/care it allows. According the the house bill, the public option will offer more limited care (if you one gets the meaning of the bill; not the just the wording. If the house bill is passed, there will be 300 billion dollars in cuts. With Medicare not covering the care that private carriers do, the cuts will detrimental to the elderly. Just cover those who DO NOT HAVE insurance with Medicare/Medicaid coverage and leave the rest alone.
I wonder if those who support the bill, have taken the time to read the main sections and pages? This is my opinion as an African American and registered Democrat.

I’ve read part of bill 3200, one of the scariest things are the panels. Obama will appoint all of the members, the medical panel does not neccesarily need to be medical doctors, just experts. Who decides the qualifications for an expert? The man who thinks pediatricians surgically remove a patient’s tonsils to get rich? I’ve never known a pediatrician who performs his own surgeries, but the man appointing the experts thinks a surgeon is paid $50,000 to remove a limb. The president thinks there are 57 states in the union, can’t speak without a teleprompter, has never run anything but thugs in training community organizing and now in addition to running the country & Gov’t Motors he’s going to fix health care? Not a word about tort reform or allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines. Oh, and the healthcare isn’t good enough for the President, our Senators, our Congressional reps or union members, what’s up with that? Anyone who has fooled themselves into believing this is anything but a grab for power needs to take off the Mickey Mouse PJs, learn addition and subtraction and enter the world of reality.
What all those who claim that “the biter acted in self-defense”, seem to have missed is that the pro-reform and anti-reform groups were separated on different sides of the street. The pro-reform biter deliberately came across the street to start trouble with the anti-reform group, which was a much smaller and older group. As much as people like to joke, Obamacare is one of the most serious threats from the government we the people have ever faced. It will most certainly lead to a program of killing and discarding the elderly as they are doing in England under their government care. It will be another tool for reducing Al Gore’s carbon footprint through euthanasia and for taking away our basic freedoms. It is frightening to see people believe that a government which has failed public education, social security, the economy, national defense, that it will somehow improve the health care system if they take it over. The national flag of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) will be hoisted at the South Lawn of the White House in Washington on September 20, media reported Sunday.
Chinese associations in the United States had applied to hold a ceremony in front of the US President’s residence to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of PRC.
Chen Ronghua, chairman of Fujian Association of the United States, told reporters that their application was approved not only because of the sound Sino-US relations but also because China is a responsible country.
“Many Americans admire China due to the success of last year’s Beijing Olympics,” said Chen.
More than 1,000 people will attend the ceremony and the performances held after it, according to Zhao Luqun, who will direct the performances.
Zhao said the performances will demonstrate the friendship, magnanimous spirit and kindness of modern Chinese people.

No, the old guy confronted a foaming at the mouth liberal that aggressively charged him and invaded his personal space. Your problem is you realize those methods are the only ones that will work trying to force socialized power grabs on un-willing people. In other words, the ends justify the means for you…even if they are aggressive and violent.
I don’t get it. The guy threw two punches, and in retaliation the other guy bit his finger off. Is this not self-defense? How does Foxnews give credit to this “attacker” and show him as a victim, when he first initiated the physical aggression? Would it have been ok if the other guy would have been sporting a handgun? Both these Joes are crazies, end of story.
Why is Moveon.org protecting this guy. They know who did it, yet they don’t want to own up to it.
The law does not require you to be on medicare…you can run out and purchase all the private health insurance you want after 65, if they don’t laugh you out of the insurance office…I’m sure the rates will be quite reasonable, a few thousand a month or so.
This is the crux of the problem…private for-profit insurance is not interested in insuring any of you that they will have to pay out money for due to your age or physical status…they only wish to take in money & increase profits. This is the reason government-run medicare was necessary to begin with.
Public option insurance is clearly the only answer, and is inevitable…private insurance will unquestionably die on the vine, for it is not practical.
It was surely wrong for the old man to throw the first punch. To honest though, all of these protestors need to realize that there are intense emotions running and ANYONE jumping in another one’s face (ie about 1-2 feet ) will likely get punched. I only say that because, well, I would throw that punch. Yell from a distance of at least six feet away, it’s less intrusive and you aren’t begging for a fight. Also, who in the world throws only one punch?? If you resign yourself to throwing that first punch, you are in a FIGHT. That second punch better be coming.

Dave the Democrat, are you to stupid to read, this bill will cut Medicare by 22%, that is one of many reasons why the elderly are scared and with good reason. Doctors in the last two years (Democratic rule)have already had major cuts to what they are paid out by Medicare. When will you people wake up, when Doctors go to school for as long as they do and have the student loans that they have to pay back, what is the reward to go into medicine. Not every one wants to live like hippies, I thought this country was a capitalist nation, you get out of it if you do not like it!!!!

Medicade is broke, Medicare is broke, Social Security is broke, so lets add another corrupted government plan to our debt. Lets all spend as much money as possible to take care of lazy bums and run up the debt to 100 Trillion. Our grandkids can pay the tab for us, since they will have robots going to work for them.

This medicare recipient was protesting health care for all? And then he used his medicare to work on his hand after his attack? What brainwashing he must have gone through to decide to protest something so good for so many people.
This gentlemen may be on Medicare – but maybe just maybe he is concerned about Medicare being $2T in debt – and realizes that the way to solve it is not 57 additional federal government agencies running a centralized health plan.
Yes Medicare is government run health care – and it is going broke. Why should we believe that an even more expansive system would be any different?
The issue of health care is cost containment which requires efficiency – name one thing the federal government does that is efficient……
I also went to a counter-protest in Boca. We were on one side of the street and the Moveon.org crowd was on the other side. Five min. after I got there, two police cars pulled up. The police stated that they got a call stating that someone on our side had a gun. (Gee Whiz, who do you think called?) Not long after that, the moveon.org crowd, not content with being on their side of the street, came over to our side. There was no violence but a lot of heated ‘debate’. Why do liberals have to scream????

Well the 65 year old threw the first punch. How is that “defending himself?” When you start a fight you better be prepared to finish it. And let’s not pretend that this guy was somehow old and elderly. From an eyewitness account of the entire episode: “Don’t be fooled by reports ginning up sympathy for that 65-year old guy or worse yet, reports characterizing him as a senior citizen. He was aggressive and ready to mix it up.”

Obamacare will take money from Medicare, so the elderly care will be even more rationed than it is now. That’s why they are up in arms. We all heard the media crying about how bad the care was at the military hospitals during the Bush years. That is what we will have under NHS. No part of this bill should be passed.
I think it would help people understand our health insurance mess if they would research the history of the HMO’s in our country. Most of this health insurance mess is due to our government bailing out the HMO companies in the late 70’s. Check it out.
