Local TV Moment: Hospital PR Person Won’t Stop Touching Reporter

"If you touch me again I'll call the police."

May 27, 2010 at 11:58 am - KGO-TV
Dateline: San Francisco, CA
Commieobamie   May 27th, 2010 - 12:03 pm

That was a really touching story.

man touch   May 27th, 2010 - 12:07 pm

man that PR guy is good!!!

Overviewer   May 27th, 2010 - 12:18 pm

NOT a funny video at all. This ‘PR’ man should be fired. He appears to be one deranged individual who thinks he is being seductive or something.

solgreatman   May 27th, 2010 - 12:21 pm

They look like an old married couple.

Normal   May 27th, 2010 - 12:23 pm

This reporter is an extreme ashhole. He can’t get his way so he goes into typical lib shout-down mode. The PR guy is doing his job. I would have escorted the news idiot to the curb. Why do we let these news jerks get away with this crap?

anon   May 27th, 2010 - 12:25 pm

I was touched.

Otis Day   May 27th, 2010 - 12:25 pm

If he had done that to me he’d be spitting out teeth like Chiklets. What an arrogant, irrelevent little douche.

Ki   May 27th, 2010 - 12:27 pm

Good job PR guy.

Matt   May 27th, 2010 - 12:33 pm

Obviously the PR guy has a tick and does not even realize he is doing it again and again. He is so set on introducing himself and doing it in the manor he is comfortable with. It is extremely strange that it involves touching someone you don’t know.

I have to side with the reporter though, I don’t want some strange guy coming up and touching me and invading my personal space either.

Tom   May 27th, 2010 - 12:35 pm

The PR guy is what happens when political correctness is allowed to run its course. You get a lunatic who thinks it is somehow proper to get touchy feely and just flat won’t listen. The guy should be fired.

cecil   May 27th, 2010 - 12:35 pm

This looks like the result of some sort of weird touchy feely training course.

I sense some $exual tensions   May 27th, 2010 - 12:36 pm

I think that reporter is clearly in the closet. He was worried that if the PR guy touched him anymore he would get a chubby.

The PR was AWSOME !!

Joker face   May 27th, 2010 - 12:46 pm

The PR guy is a member of the SEIU. We’ll all get touched very soon. That is what our health care rationers will be like.

minkxy   May 27th, 2010 - 1:16 pm

Good to see a real man…the reporter was nice to see.

txmike   May 27th, 2010 - 1:20 pm

The PR guy claims to be a communications director however he intentionally fails listening 101. If I were the reporter I would have warned if you touch me once more after i have told you many times not to I will punch you in the face the next time that you intentionally do not listen.

james   May 27th, 2010 - 1:32 pm

i would be concerned that the gay ir guy had aids…

kiss and make up   May 27th, 2010 - 1:33 pm

a lib spat… how cute.

kadamson   May 27th, 2010 - 1:39 pm

The PR guy invaded the reporter’s space on purpose. It was a way of intervening on behalf of the director. Good for him. The reporter was obnoxiously following the director too closely and wouldn’t leaver alone and the PR guy intervened. Kudos to the PR guy.

kadamson   May 27th, 2010 - 1:41 pm

…that being said, because of our pc culture, it wasn’t possible to directly challenge the reporter. All confrontations have to be passive agressive – obviously the pr guy is an expert passive aggressive.

dwroberts   May 27th, 2010 - 1:59 pm

As a reporter in San Francisco, you’d think this guy would be used to having strange, gay-sounding men come up and touch him in public.

DoubleU   May 27th, 2010 - 2:07 pm

That was a little odd, kind of like someone who shakes your hand for too long.

Jose Noway   May 27th, 2010 - 2:10 pm

From the PR “How To” Manual:

Chapter 1:

If a news reporter is doing an expose on your company, quickly break him away from his intended target. (The CEO, shareholders, etc.) YOU, afterall, are the spokesperson for the company.

To get his attention, gently put your hand on the reporter’s shoulder, introduce yourself by name and position, and…

(continued on next page)

[obviously the pr guy didn't get past the first page]

rgallagher   May 27th, 2010 - 2:16 pm

The reporter “touched” the women first….watch he wants his hand shaken THEN touches the women on the arm for a split second. I like how the Hospital Rep flips the scenario and makes the reporter feel violated and not the way the reporter wanted….. ruining his ” GOTCHA MOMENT”

Bob   May 27th, 2010 - 2:16 pm

The PR guy deserves a mouthful of fist, with a loose teeth chaser.

JoeTulsa   May 27th, 2010 - 2:19 pm

That guy’s touchy.

itsjustme   May 27th, 2010 - 2:38 pm

He shoulda called the police like he said he would do. Otherwise its just an idol threat and the touching continues!
Pushy meets creepy, gotta love the libs….eewwww, just call the cops, problem solved.

Walter   May 27th, 2010 - 3:07 pm

The reporter should have decked the pr man about the 4th time he asked that asshole to stop touching him!

Nalora   May 27th, 2010 - 3:11 pm

Wonder if he also touches women like that?

bunkerbill   May 27th, 2010 - 3:23 pm

Like they said when Hitler’s Germany attacked Stalin’s Russia, “Lets hope that neither side runs out of bullets”. They both come off as creeps.

Kevin   May 27th, 2010 - 3:27 pm

That guy would have lost his arm if that were me.

Everett   May 27th, 2010 - 3:27 pm

Wonderful, two assholes in the same room trying to outdo each other.

itsjustme   May 27th, 2010 - 3:32 pm

LIKE I SAID…He shoulda called the police like he said he would. Otherwise its just an idol threat and the touching continues!
PUSHY MEETS CREEPY, gotta love the libs….eewwww, just call the cops already!!

Truth   May 27th, 2010 - 3:37 pm

I would place his nose well inside his brain pan, a sure cure!

Laura Bush   May 27th, 2010 - 3:37 pm

I know the PR guy and what the rest of you don’t know is that he had just helped clean up a rather noxious mess a patient had created with assorted bodily fluids. The PR guy had not had a chance to wash up and so it was sort of like President Bush wiping his hands on Bill Clinton’s back down in Haiti. Nothing to it… just move along

Trinity   May 27th, 2010 - 3:47 pm

The touchy guy is very creepy, and he kind of looks like Anthony Perkins. I can’t really tell if he looks more like a sexual pervert or a serial killer or maybe a combo of both.

Dave   May 27th, 2010 - 3:50 pm

Great way to deal with an a**hole reporter. The PR guy did it to annoy and distract the self-absorbed jackass and it worked. In our PC world what other options does he have?

Lou   May 27th, 2010 - 3:53 pm

The PR guy is totally out of bounds. When someone says, “Take your hands off me.” That is what you do. Now, if you have to place an IV or foley you can explain why it would benefit him. If the person still refuses care report it to the MD. Case closed. Don’t let ego get involved.
The guy is identified as hospital PR, hospitals give mandatory classes on “touching” people. Usually given by staff that work in PR. The reporter is obnoxious, and makes you want to confront him, but that results in a “power struggle”. The PR guy needs a class on how to handle obnoxious reporters.

Mick Russom   May 27th, 2010 - 3:59 pm

Liberal radical homosexual trying to keep the public from knowing the truth. I hope the poor reporter wasn’t exposed to Hepatitis or HIV.

meh   May 27th, 2010 - 3:59 pm

I wish he would have grabbed his ball and twisted them like a tube balloon. THAT would make a better story.

Mick Russom   May 27th, 2010 - 4:00 pm

Liberal radical pedarast trying to keep the public from knowing the truth. I hope the poor reporter wasn’t exposed to Hepatitis or HIV.

Revelstoke   May 27th, 2010 - 4:01 pm

CHICK FIGHT !!!

Susan   May 27th, 2010 - 4:10 pm

A few things I noticed
First, the Director that the Reporter wanted to speak to – Director walks to the front of the room and eventually turns around – she has a “smirk” or a “smile” on her face that appears to indicate “satisfaction” as to what the PR Guy is accomplishing.

Second, the PR Guy accomplished his mission – His MISSION was to Stop the REporter from going near the Director and in anyway being able to ask questions.

Third, the “TOUCHING” THE PR Guy did to the Reporter was pure and simple an INTIMIDATION TACTIC that WORKED extremely well – evidence of this is the Director’s reaction and the REACTION of the PR Guy once the Reporter left.

If I had been the Reporter….I would have been at the front of the room as close as possible to the Director so I could “Hear” her Presentation….if asked to leave….I would have had the Cameraman record everything…..IMPORTANT – always keep calm, be firm and STAND your GROUND…..

I would be pressing charges against the PR Guy for assault and then let’s see if he ever uses that “tactic’ again.

DDuke   May 27th, 2010 - 4:42 pm

Touching someone who does not want to be touched, and tells you that, is considered a “battery” and it can be prosecuted as such if the reporter wanted to make a big deal of it. It would be up to the court to dismiss it or not. He probably won’t do that.

The PR guy should have simply stepped in front of the reporter and blocked his path then it would be up to the reporter to commit a “battery” if he tried to push the PR guy to get around. Simple. Then PR Guy would have the legal grounds.

Yes, it is a control – intimidation tactic to enter a persons personal space.

If the reporter had not been white it would have been a different story because only whites are willing to tolerate that invasion of personal space without reacting violently. You get my drift – LOL.

Vernis Magnetic   May 27th, 2010 - 4:53 pm

Maybe it was “touch a reporter day.” It’s kind of like hug a ginger day. lol

HAHAHA   May 27th, 2010 - 5:17 pm

that was pretty funny, but seriously, dan noyes is a jerk and those on the tv side of KGO are nothing but code pink in journalists clothes.

GJP   May 27th, 2010 - 5:19 pm

A little strange, but I agree, the PR guy took the reporter out of his comfort zone and redirected the reporter AWAY from the director. The Reporter was trying to do the same thing to the Director. The reporter was owner hook line and sinker.
Could the PR guy have done a better job? Probably, but he achieved what he needed to do.

james   May 27th, 2010 - 5:50 pm

since the pr guy was obviously flirting with the reporter, the reporter should have just reached down and grabbed him by the balls and squeezed… really really hard
the pr guy would have probably liked it…”mmmmmm, that feels good”

cna training   May 27th, 2010 - 6:09 pm

Great information! I’ve been looking for something like this for a while now. Thanks!

joymc   May 27th, 2010 - 7:18 pm

Mark the PR guy clearly has an issue with boundaries, I mean he does not seem to know they exist. Mark is way too touchy feely and this reporters reaction is only natural. You get the feeling Mark is trying to be therapeutic or something. There is a time and place to do therapeutic communication but only when a therapeutic relationship exists. After telling Mark at least several times, the reporter is really exercising pretty good restraint. In other words Mark is a total dork.

Monkeyaround   May 27th, 2010 - 7:24 pm

THAT is considered assault and battery these days? What kind of girly man whines “stop touching me or I’ll call the police!” Does your husband play golf, too? They are both creepy, although the PR guy is a bit more so.

Leona Helmsley   May 27th, 2010 - 7:28 pm

In cases like these with a pushy liberal reporter the best thing to do is start to chant, mmm, mmm, mmm, Barack Hussain Obama… This will lull the reporter away from his task and he will start to join in… mmm, mmm, mmm Barack, Hussain, Obama…. You can then gently dance him right out the door and over the stair rail. The hospital would then not only be rid of the lib reporter, they would make money off of trying to keep him alive while advising the family to pull the plug. Make sense?

Mark Foley   May 27th, 2010 - 7:33 pm

It’s Mark Foley grabbing media headlines again!

Donald   May 27th, 2010 - 8:31 pm

The reporter did the wrong thing. He should have stepped forward to back up the PR guy and he should have put the mic right against the guy’s face. That would have changed that fool’s tune real quick.

BerkeleyRedneck   May 27th, 2010 - 8:51 pm

This is an annoying passive-aggressive thing. The reporter has a right to be there and every person has a right to not be touched. The PR guy who continues to touch after the reporter asks him to stop is attempting to establish an alpha-dominance. A punch in the face would be in order here.

jason   May 27th, 2010 - 9:50 pm

He probably knows the toe-tap thingie too.

DTOM!
http://RightWingStuff.com

kmichaels   May 27th, 2010 - 10:36 pm

The PR guy crossed boundaries and was a jerk and the news reporter was an ass hole. Pretty well sums it up.

kmichaels   May 27th, 2010 - 10:37 pm

BTW, the reporter shook hands with the gal at first. I thought strangers did not touch strangers?

Ed   May 28th, 2010 - 12:55 am

MARC THE PR MAN DESERVES A RAISE!!!! This is awesome. The hospital PR guy interjected himself and absorbed the attention of the reporter who was trying to take center stage with his own antics. Marc was consistent and patient, and obviously has had some conflict resolution training. He was able to use passive aggressive behavior to counter the aggressive behavior of the media antagonist. WAY TO GO PR GUY!!!!! He did his job really well!

Q   May 28th, 2010 - 1:03 am

I don’t care who you are. When I say don’t touch me, I MEAN IT!! Hey PR guy, there’s other ways of getting rid of a-holes without touching.

nick o'jones   May 28th, 2010 - 8:20 am

Anybody defending this gay PR toucher must be such flamers. He committed assault! Passive aggression? Hahahahahahahhaaaa. He’s a flamer!

Eric B   May 28th, 2010 - 8:33 am

All I could think about with this was Bill Cosby:

“WOULD YOU STOPPNG TOUCHING ME!…………HE’S TOUCHING ME!”
LOL

Postulator   May 28th, 2010 - 9:23 am

He’ll soon be able to serve in the U.S. military.

Postulator   May 28th, 2010 - 9:27 am

He’ll soon be able to serve in the U.S. military … and many others exactly like him.

Postulator   May 28th, 2010 - 9:37 am

It’s soooo telling how “certain” commenters here defend the “amiable” toucher. If it were an objecting female reporter the PR-weirdo was touching, he’d have been fired on the spot.

Mark   May 28th, 2010 - 11:46 am

That PR guy is AWESOME! The reporter was trying to intimidate that poor women towering over her, cornering her, and invading her personal space. I admire that PR guy it was very brave. He is a JUDO master I can tell. He is so confident and not at all intimidating buy the reporter. You have to admire someone that stands up to a bully like that. Way to go!

[...] of the Hat to Breitbart TV. [...]

Stunt man   May 29th, 2010 - 2:18 am

Should have stuck the mic in the PR guy’s face and asked him on camera when he stopped beating his wife. Then, in an attempt to back away, accidentally step on his toes before falling backward, reaching for anything in order to break his fall. Oddly enough, his fall would be broken, but not before the PR guy hits the floor.

Al   June 4th, 2010 - 10:46 pm

The perfect ending to this video would have been the PR guy looking straight into the camera and with a big smile touching the reporter one last time.
At first I thought, Saturday Night Live skit! But then realized it’s funny all by itself.
