Another lie would be the statement that the public option would not be funded by tax payers. Of course it’s funded by tax payers by definition, since it’s a “public option.” The President even admitted that the funds would come from programs already funded by tax payers.
Towards the end of his speech, the President was engaging in obvious scare tactics.
“The devil is in the details.” Once again, he failed to provide the people with details. As usual, congress laughed. Again I ask what is funny about an incomplete bill? Same speech with additional platitudes.
America…one other thing…he could not help himself…he had to bring up the former administration, once again!

There are a lot of people who see the truth behind the nationalized health care, the misinformation and the problem with a huge government. However, the question is, how do you get enough people to see the size of the government and actually care? Ending withholding taxes is one way. Instead of hiding the size and scope of the government, this exposes it and will make people more informed about what they are voting for. Getting politicians to sign the Stop Withholding tax pledge is one step toward that.
Caught the speech and he was all right, until the public option. Then he started all kinds of inane comparisons with private universities as most libs do. Despite his protestations to the contrary, this cannot be managed on the US budget as it now stands and it provides too much power to the government. Another long, boring lie, er um, I mean speech. He is either liar, or he has not read the bill. I could not watch the lie…speech, but I did hear portions. So my question is, did he say he was coming up with another bill? Or was he speaking of H. R. 3200? If illegals are not included, then why is there no excusion of illegals in the bill? Why are illegals expressly exempted from the tax (not be treated as a tax)the rest of us would have to pay to the IRS if we are caught without ‘qualified’ insurance? No death panels? But the ‘board’ is in the bill ‘to provide guidence’ in matters of end of life care. It is still a pig with lipstick, even if Obama wants to refer to it as ‘an enhanced swine’. Has this man ever told the truth? Since we know nothing about him, it leaves me to wonder. I have never heard him tell the truth.
The ONLY part of the bill that makes ANY sense is making insurance be portable (moving from state to state). That we should be able to buy insurance from ANY state offering it. That would spur competition and lower the cost.
And what about Tort reform? God forbid we stop frivolous lawsuits against doctors against hospitals. I guess it’s OK that this plan is bad for US, as long as it isn’t bad for lawyers.

The foundation of a republic is the voice of a people speaking through their individual representatives. If the people elect or allow a person who would shout out an insult to the President, no matter who he is or what party he may be from, the person should be censored for conduct unbecoming an elected representative of our fine nation. This type of behavior exemplifies what is wrong with the professional political body we call our congress. Such partisanship has no place if our nation is to progress beyond the valley into which both parties have led us all in the sake of 5 second sound bytes more influenced by lust for power than service to those who put them in power. He ONLY stated that his plan (i.e. insurance) would not include illegals. Also, HR3200 states Federal money would be used to pay for their medical insurance. The real world application is:
1. Illegals will still get medical treatment, but it won’t be paid for by insurance … and like ERs today, also not paid for by those that passed the law.
2. There will not be any provisions to check a person’s legal status. (The same as the requirement to report applicant and hiring statistics, but are not allowed to ask or require declaration.)
3. More likely, there (soon) will be a law (or judicial ruling) to not delay treatment to capture insurance information. Logic – why put patient as additional risk by delaying treatment, when everyone is required to have medical insurance coverage (yeah, right, just like everyone has auto coverage!!). By the time the Dr and/or hospital realize the person does not have the required coverage, it will be too late. What are they going to do remove the stitches, reuse the x-ray, untest the blood, repo the medications delivered, etc. etc. ????? AND, at that point, who will be responsible to pay for these uninsured services? I know, just a minor detail.
Where were all you loud mouths when the Republicans were sending our country into a tailspin down the porcelain highway and not giving a rats behind about it? Why are you so against someone that is obviously trying to do something, anything to enhance the lives of many more people than it is hurting? As for Obama’s speech. All rhetoric and no substance. Obama spent too much time being partian instead of trying to be unifying. Even far leftists professor Marc Lamont Hill commented on how Obama’s underhanded shots at Sarah Palin were out of line.
As for Joe Wilson, while I think his outburst was inappropriate during Obama’s speech, I completely agreed with his comments in that Obama is a liar. Wilson I believe spoke for many Americans and his emotions finally got the best of him. However, Mr. Wilson should have made these comments AFTER the speech with the media.

The healthcare bill has no written language in it that REQUIRES illegal aliens to show proof of their LEGAL residency. It just states that illegals won’t be covered – end of statement. Under current law, no one can be asked of their legal status, so if there is NO language in the bill requiring ‘proof of legal residency(whatever)’ and nobody can verbally ASK them, then HOW will the doctors/hospitals KNOW that they are legal or not?
Mr. Wilson was right to call Obama on it because illegals are CURRENTLY receiving FREE E.R. treatment and w/o written proof of residency, illegals WILL STILL get free coverage under the new ‘plan’.
Only thing that would have made it better would have been for Barbara Billingsley to walk up to the podium and tell Congress “that’s ok, I speak jive”

Here is what I am talking about, 1) Obama has still not written a bill, neither of the written bills sound like ‘his,’ and if they don’t pull them off the table and instead try to pass them, there was no change. All he did was take the old bills, mix them up and sold them back to the public, will they buy, I don’t think so. Oh then he gave the fig leaf of Tort Reform, the Democrats didn’t like that one bit. But he didn’t say they were implementing Tort Reform he said they would look into it… LIAR. Time will only tell. He sounded great in the beginning and I thought, “He is doing this do gain back the 50% that don’t approve of what he is doing. I am sorry by the end, being already to long, he went back to his old ways and people saw right through that. I watched this on the TV and monitored the blogs and news sources, it was quite interesting. Article 246 of HR3200, the proposed health care bill from the House, states specifically, “those living in the U.S. illegally are not covered and would not be covered by the affordability credits in the plan.” Now, I may not have gone to college, but I read that as illegal immigrants won’t be covered under this bill. I also interpret “while I disagree with the President’s statement” the so called apology made by Mr. Wilson, to mean that he still thinks President Obama was lying. Where I come from, if you want to apologize, you say, I’m sorry, I was wrong. Simple as that. I tried to get on to Mr. Wilson’s website from 11:00 p.m. on Wednesday until 3:30 a.m. on Thursday – and on my last try I realized the site had CRASHED – I guess I wasn’t the only one who wanted to give him a piece of my mind. Mr. Wilson should apologize for real and then resign!!! He’s a loser and if he doesn’t have the common decency to resign he definitely should lose the next time he runs for office!

President Obama’s powerful speech to the nation last night could not have contrasted more sharply. He was the adult in the room, calling on Congress to take responsibility for our future — for stepping up to solve the health care crisis that worsens every day, for making the changes necessary to allow America to live up to its own democratic values — to acknowledge that no one should be denied the health care he needs because he can’t afford it.
By contrast, the Republicans have careened into schoolyard name-calling; Obama the Nazi, Obama the “Joker” from Batman.
They have begun to act like a gang of juvenile delinquents, doing everything they can to frighten senior citizens — attempting to convince them that health care reform would jeopardize their Medicare and that the Government would set up “death panels” with the power to pull the plug on Grandma, when both were patently untrue.
There has been a brazen, bullying quality to their rhetoric — shouting down and intimidating opponents — a willingness to break the rules and say anything that serves their purposes with a complete disregard for consistency or intellectual honesty. Take their “defense” of Medicare: Remember that the Republicans opposed Medicare from its inception. They said that Medicare would lead to “socialism” the same way they claim that health insurance reform and a public option will lead to “socialism” today. As recently as yesterday some Republicans proposed eliminating Medicare and replacing it with a privatized “voucher” system. Yet they have the gall to pretend to defend it against the Democrats who created it.
And then there has been the irresponsibility of encouraging — and legitimating — gun-toting, hate-filled rhetoric by the fringiest of the right wing. The Republican leadership has failed to censure people like the pastor in Arizona who says he prays the President will die. And it has encouraged delusional conspiracy theorists who believe — contrary to all evidence — that Obama was not born in the United States.
As children grow up, one of the measures of increasing maturity is their willingness to begin focusing on the long term — on saving for the future — on getting a good education — on the long-term welfare of their family. Instead of throwing a tantrum because they want an ice cream cone now, they start savings their nickels and dimes for the bicycle they want to save up to buy in the future.
But you won’t find the Republicans dealing with the affects of global warming on the next generation, or reforming the health care system so it won’t devour our economy in the future, or regulating investment markets to prevent reckless investors from wrecking the economy in the years ahead. No, instead of the needs of the next generation, the Republicans want to squander our treasure on short-term tax cuts for millionaires, and short-term profits for large corporations.
Republicans used to have a reputation of staid “conservatism” like they were your stingy old rock-ribbed grandfather. Today’s Republican leaders behave like a bunch of teenagers who got their inheritance too early and can’t find enough ways to indulge their short-term desire for “more.” They no longer reflect the values of middle class families. They reflect the values of reckless, “go go” Wall Street speculators who think anyone who isn’t rich like them is a “chump” and that the purpose of our society is to let them indulge their own self-centered, jet-set fantasies.
Most childish has been their practical refusal to admit that they lost the election and that Barack Obama is actually the President of the United States. Their recent attack on the President’s speech to schoolchildren that aimed to inspire them to work hard and stay in school may be the clearest example. • People who have lost their full time jobs, and are working part-time unable to find a full-time job.
• People who have been laid off for more than 6 months who are still unable to find a job.

Retired Colonel (Representative) Joe Wilson’s conduct last night is a breach of military protocol and represents a further departure from the historic good order and discipline I expected, in the past, to see from the GOP, pre-conservative talk show entertainers. Recent GOP performers have proven embarrassing to the New Republican Party.
As a retired Soldier I expect better from our Soldiers, to include South Carolina National Guardsmen. But, those rallying in the blogosphere to Wilson’s defense claim that he has reason ‘to be stressed out’ because he has children in the military. Interesting defense.
Fully one third of Army General Officers have sons and daughters fighting in our Armed Forces. Every parent whose children are serving — as all three of mine are — can respect the strain retired Col. Wilson might be feeling, and thank him for his sacrifice. Yet I would never expect to hear anything but the greatest respect for the elected President of the United States from these men and women, regardless of their political persuasion. ‘Stressed’ or not by having military doctors and intelligence officers in the family.
I would also highlight Colonel, Retired (Professor) Andrew Bacevich who has proven a brilliant communicator on behalf of men and women critical of those incompetent warfighters who have handed off serious military dilemmas to President Obama and his administration. Colonel Bacevich lost his son in combat in Iraq a few years ago, and I doubt if the good Colonel would ever embarrass the United States Army or Armed Forces as did Colonel Wilson.
I expect Minority Leader Boehner to police his ranks and help get his GOP colleagues back into a regimen of good order and discipline.

With all due respect, that is ridiculous. Congressman Wilson is no longer subject to military protocol regarding criticism of the Commander in Chief. He has another duty with another set of objectives. Would you criticize me, who have never been a member of the armed forces, of violating military protocol? I’d think not, since I am not under its authority. And neither is Joe Wilson.
Additionally, marshal virtue is not adequate to replace civic virtue. To suggest otherwise smacks of an ideology that suggests that war is the most efficient organizer of socio-economic and political life and that the “moral equivalent of war” must be exercised in the execution of social programs by incorporating rigid top-down control — i.e., keeping people in line — to obtain some objective. As for me, I will honor the Presidency inasmuch as it is limited by Constitutional provisions and not venturing into caesarism, which all tyrants love so much.
Those against abortions, go out and adopt a couple of children. Spare the rest of us from hearing from hearing all of that crap.

Today at noon Barack Obama addresses the nation’s schoolchildren .. or a good number of them anyway. Many students won’t hear the speech because of a rather severe miscalculation from the right. Republican screaming and wailing made it sound as if Hugo Chavez was flying in via Aeroflot to speak to our poor, innocent, unsuspecting angels. School districts reacted … and millions of school kids will sit around picking their noses at noon instead of watching the speech.
So now the speech is out. As of yesterday afternoon you could read it on the Internet. I’ve read it, and if there is anything in there that I wouldn’t want my child to have heard from a U.S. President, I certainly couldn’t find it.
Egad! The speech is innocuous! What are we going to do now? I know! We’ll all claim that Obama changed the speech after the uproar from the right! Well, duhhhhhh. Of course he did! Why wouldn’t he! Well, actually he really didn’t have to change it. It probably wasn’t written by the time conservative boxers bunched up en masse. So Obama’s speechwriters took their cue from the right and made the speech essentially bulletproof from the get-go. One sharp mind in a Republican strategy session could have seen this one coming from the next galaxy.

Now how easy was that? For about three days we have parents, the Republican Party and assorted odds spinning around on their eyebrows and spitting wooden nickels over Obama’s speech. He’s going to indoctrinate our children. He’s going to fill them full of socialist ideology. They’re all going to come away from school today singing Kumbaya and waving red flags. They’ll probably stop on the way home from school to buy a Che Guevara t-shirt from vendors the Democrats will have waiting out in front of their schools. Then the hopelessly indoctrinated kids will come home and destroy all the incandescent light bulbs and turn the spare bathtub into a recycling bin. Before they do their homework (reading The Communist Manifesto) they’ll hide the car keys so daddy has to take mass transportation to work on Wednesday.
TeamObama must have loved this one. Talk about a hanging curveball. Once the manic inanity started all they had to do is sit back, prepare an innocuous speech for The One, and let the people scratch their heads wondering what in the hell the Republicans were so upset about! Now the next time the right comes up with an objection to some Obama concept, people who last week might have been on board will stand back and look at the Republicans with a jaundiced eye.
This one was so easy for the left I can’t even think of another 300 words to fill out this column. So just move on to the next one. Two steps forward and three steps back. Unless PrezBO really messes up his address to Congress tonight watch for his popularity ratings to rise. Thanks, Republicans! Bottom line of all bottom lines: I don’t want to pay one red cent for free health care for illegals. This is why Joe Wilson correctly called him a liar. Obama just wants them to have free care so they will vote for him for the next term. Anyone that falls for his lies is a fool. And this has nothing to do with race or political affiliation. Jesus stated that in the last days that nations would be in distress, and that’s exactly what is happening. Even so, come Lord Jesus. I had to buy every penny of my health insurance. We all know he told a lie about not insuring 30 million illegals and making them instant citizens. Although it was probably inappropriate to sound off, I applaud Mr. Wilson for having the fortitude to do so. This man is obviously listening to his constituents. HR 3200. There IS mandatory counseling every 5 years and less if you have a critical illness. They will counsel you on whether it is better to receive treatment or end your life so you won’t be a burden on the health care system. Read the bill. The biggest burden is the elderly and illegals. There is no FREE health care – start up money is 2 trillion! who is going to pay for this? who is going to pay for the medical for all the illegals who don’t give a dime, or those who can work and choose to suck off the system? Each family is limited to $10,000 per year. If your spouse uses it up, you are SOL. You claim CAN be denied. Read the bill. There are paragraphs that state how you can refute your claim denial. If you go to the doctor and he renders a diagnosis, it will have to go before a government agency before you can receive treatment (e.g., surgery). They will determine if you can have surgery regardless how ill you are. They (whoever they are) will calculate your age, your productive life left and oh yes, what you have done in life, the cost of the treatment and then, you will either be denied or allowed. This is in the bill. read it. IF you have a child with a critical illness (MS, cerebal palsy) you will not longer be afforded medical care. Why? because these children, teens, adult have no productive life according to this bill. read it. Why do you think that Sarah Palin is so upset (among other reasons). Her child will be denied health care because he is a burden on the health care system. Medicare will be decimated and replaced with obamahealth care. I realize this bill is hard to read and I had to read and reread, but it can be done. You will find in the bill there are allowances and then read four or five pages further and it will contradict what was stated previously. This bill is all about government control. Once obama has control over the MSM, which for the most part he does, the health care system, most of the major industries he will be able to successfully implement socialist rule. – and yes I have heard obama speak the word ‘rule’ in his speeches along with other verbiage (the “world” doesn’t like this) that indicates this man is a despot. Now respect? I respect the OFFICE of the President of the United States. I do not have to respect the man that sits in the office. I have property that I use to grow my own crops and have ample water on the property to survive what’s coming. I am well educated and versed on what is coming. So you all can sit here and complain about how tough things are, not offer any solutions (and libs, don’t rebut this by saying your messiah IS offering solutions), and be in the middle of what is coming, rather than understanding what is coming and how to survive it. The economy is NOT getting better, the world is not a safer place (isn’t it interesting that bamamama goes to the a-rab world, and apologizes and says we want to be friends with other hypocritical, tyrannical garbage, and they are snubbing their noses at us and him?), our debt load has passed any level the libs can try to consider as still manageable, and this arsehole tries to pawn off a “public option” plan that will kill competition in our economy by using taxpayer dollars to compete against free market mechanisms.
What we are doing, or I should say, what the government is doing simply is taking our wealth away….from those who have earned it or not. They get paid whatever they deem is acceptable pay to keep good people in the public sector. Right. Most libs have never owned a business, so they know little about how hard it is to make it work. Libs tend to be teachers, and we all know that teaching is not a difficult job (and again, before firing back, you get more vacation time than anyone on the planet, except the politicians of course), or politicians, or gay, or media people. Not a judgment of the professions or lifestyles, but isn’t it interesting they do little to actually make things work? Rather, they tend to be on the sidelines asking for more money to enrich themselves…which gets back to the poit earlier I made…liberals lie to make it look like they are out for “us”, but are actually getting rich off us and we get screwed.
If you listen at the messiah’s comments lately about how we need to address racis, and consider that maffirmative action is the most racially motivated policy on the planet and is stifling the very people who are the creators of what we all take for granted, you come to realize again how hypocritical these lowlives are. Isn’t 60 years enough time to screw the white man? The point being, the only way to get beyond the malaise we are in is to make sense of all the regulation on US, not the government, and the strangulation of our freedoms. We should be heading the other way. We should be empowering ALL people, not just those who feel they are entitled. Reparations. Sarbanes-Oxley. Socialized medicine. Taxes. Federally funded abortions in other countries as well as in the US. Special loans and grants to so called “minorities”. The key to stopping this mess is to STOP SPENDING US INTO OBLIVION!
Until then, I wait with gun drawn and loaded, waiting, just waiting for some arsehole to set foot on my property looking for a handout or to tell me I can’t have my freedoms any more. This administration IS bringing on the revolution we all hear about. I’m ready. I salivate at the opportunity to cap a lib. Take responsibility for all that you are doing and there won’t be as big a problem as you are heading us for. You’re all stinking nuts.
