Las Vegas TV Reporter Slaps Live Shot Invader During Michael Jackson Story

"You like Michael Jackson, too, don't you?"

Oh my…. Don’t they blend in well??

Tom   June 30th, 2009 - 12:33 pm

Hey! It’s Fremont Street. What else did you expect?

Heh heh heh   June 30th, 2009 - 1:10 pm

Not trying to defend the fat guy but it’s a public street. Just because you are a reporter and doing a live shot does not give you any right to acquire space. And that slap to the fat man’s face is assault by definition. How ever the fat man is guilty of it too as his body contacted the reporter too a couple times.

doogle   June 30th, 2009 - 1:40 pm

Laaawsuuuit…

di butler   June 30th, 2009 - 1:59 pm

Now that was funny. You just know when the camera was off that the news dude kicking fatty man’s ass. Hee.

John   June 30th, 2009 - 2:08 pm

The fan was not the problem. That worthless thug Steve Ryan repeatedly assaulted and battered the bystander by pushing him 5 times and slapping him once. The bystander should sue Ryan and the station for assault and battery and the station should fire Ryan. The two twits anchoring the program showed how biased they are by referring to the bystander as the problem despite the fact that Ryan was the problem. I understand that the reporter has a job to do, but that does not and never will justify assaulting a bystander. Any frequent viewers of this station have now witnessed the biased nature of the reporters who work at this station. If they are willing to deceive viewers about what the viewers have just seen, about what else will they deceive viewers?

THIS IS CNN   June 30th, 2009 - 2:21 pm

Another OBAMA voter.

AbuBakerSmith   June 30th, 2009 - 3:14 pm

This is AMERICA. You will be punished on the spot by authorities and REPORTERS are now Authorities under the Obama Regime. Soon courts will be unnecessary, there will be posts with shackles erected every mile on Americas Highways where Police will flog, taser, etc, you as they decide sufficient when you step out of line. You will be punished on the spot and your property seized to fund the legal system. You wanted change, it’s here.

JohnLA1961   June 30th, 2009 - 3:16 pm

Funny if that fatazz took time off from work to play the slots and got caught and fired.

Susan   June 30th, 2009 - 3:36 pm

Do the anchors have x-ray eyes?? How do they know what he was drinking before defaming his character on tv? I’m not saying he wasn’t off bounds a little, but the reporter had NO RIGHT to push and slap the man.

Dug   June 30th, 2009 - 3:47 pm

The reporter should have hit the idiot harder.

BreitLover   June 30th, 2009 - 4:31 pm

Anyone, including a reporter, has a right to their own space. It was the drunk
“overweight” man entering the reporter’s space by pushing him.
Oh, and btw, you call that a slap? Come on, all he did was push the guy’s face
out of his face.

Pogue Mahone   June 30th, 2009 - 4:37 pm

Apparently Fat Boy’s mother didn’t know he got out of his room and now he’s somehow found his way to Las Vegas and is trying desperately to find his way to lose his virginity. Everybody knows sad fat attention-starved moron losers like this, then you see them later in life unable to get off the couch in their living room, forever unmarried and buried under a year’s worth of TV Guides and comic books and old pizza boxes and bugs, angry and alone. The dude should get out in the world and help someone less fortunate than himself, instead of consuming each food item he sees and bothering everyone else to get attention for himself.

Samantha   June 30th, 2009 - 4:40 pm

John, the fan WAS the problem! If you don’t think so, have someone walk into your work space and carry on like that. The behavior of this dufus is why most people in the world hate Americans – because we behave this way everywhere we go. Review the clip and learn decency!

PEOPLE ARE TOO OBNOXIOUS NOW   June 30th, 2009 - 5:36 pm

WHY ARE PEOPLE SO DAMNED RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS NOWADAYS????

DO THEY REALLY THINK *ANYBODY* “ADMIRES” SUCH UNRULY DISGUSTING BEHAVIOR???

NEWS FLASH: THEY DON’T!

Woody   June 30th, 2009 - 6:08 pm

I’m with Dug and BreitLover; that reporter should have hit that fat tub of lard w/ a haymaker.

sdfsd   June 30th, 2009 - 6:13 pm

that guy should sue Ryan and the station should fire him. reporting doesn’t mean owning the sidewalk neither does it warrant assault on bystanders.

John   June 30th, 2009 - 6:56 pm

Samantha, as a member of the media, if I was the reporter who found myself in this situation, I would communicate “technical” difficulties to the anchors until I could quickly, and without hitting anybody, send the message to the bystander that he is interfering and needs to leave. Once I accomplished that, and with a bit more awareness of my surroundings, I would let the station know that I was now ready to do the live spot and we would continue. We would continue without assaulting or battering anyone.

Samantha, your defense of this idiot Ryan shows that you have the same thuggish tendencies that he has. When you talk about “why most people in the world hate Americans” (a bold-faced lie) you demonstrate how much you hate America. Samantha, let go of your thuggish tendencies and learn to love your country. Also, quit while you are behind. You are not going to win this one.

Barack Lobster   June 30th, 2009 - 10:08 pm

Some people just need a b1tch slap now and then.

Duh.   July 1st, 2009 - 12:09 am

Actually, the reporter’s actions are the definition of BATTERY, not ASSAULT. Assault is the threatened or attempted physical attack on someone. Battery is actual physical contact — thus, battery.

In any case, all we have is a snippet of the interaction between Ryan and the fat guy. We don’t know how or if the fat guy was provoking or physically contacting Ryan in the seconds leading up to the live shot. Regardless, I don’t think the fat guy would have any case.

patriot   July 1st, 2009 - 8:48 am

The reporter needs to go back to first grade and learn to keep his hands to himself. As for the rude drunk, he should have a been arrested for public drunk. Seems like dumb ass on dumb ass to me.

Raoul Fenderson   July 3rd, 2009 - 1:18 am

That was a “slap”? Gimme a break, that fat moron was so loaded that I’m sure he didn’t feel a thing. Look, Steve was trying to do his job. If I’m at work, trying to do my job, and some drunk idiot comes barging in messing with me, I will do what I need to do to get him out of my face. Anyway, I’m sure the Pillsbury Fatboy will sue if there’s any possibility of making an easy buck.

JOHN, you are a cretinous ball of smegma.

David   July 5th, 2009 - 4:18 am

People, People you all make valid points regarding this unique situation. However let’s just keep in mind that a strip on tape less than a minute long will in NO WAY allow anyone the ability to alternate the events based on shear convenience. It happened and guess what? YOU weren’t there. Face it, the ramafications of this incident could not be justly nor certainly assest from the comforts of your sudo-posh vegas villa. For as much as the art of prejudgging is common, the willingness to forego a simply period of logic or critical-thinking, standard to awaiting a green traffic signal, should not give way to the ease of response from the opposite orifice. Go walk your cat, call your mom, wash your hybrid, and plant a tree. Continue to be destracted.
