Las Vegas Semi-Pro Football Player Tackles Teammate During Punt Return

Fanhouse: Mauriece McIver was playing on the punt return team for the Las Vegas Cobras when, for reasons he himself probably can't understand, he decided to tackle his own teammate, who was breaking into the clear for a long return.

Same team that bashed the ref with a helmet?

This was clearly an act of racism by GW Bush and his cronies.

MarkusUSA   November 2nd, 2009 - 9:35 am

Hm. I wonder if he had bet on the other team to win?

In all honesty, I can see this happening with no ill intent. This guy probably practices on both sides of the ball, meaning he plays offense and defense during the week of practice. This is a “special team” play meaning that many players are put in spots that they normally do not play except for the instance of a punt or kick return. During the week when practicing, he’s probably tackled this guy a dozen times. All he was doing is what he practiced – albeit a bit misguided.

I’ve seen this happen before and it’s simply a matter of your training overtaking your awareness of what color jersey you have on. That being said, it makes for a funny clip that this guy will NEVER live down. I can think of worse things…….it’s not like he’s trying to force inadequate, overpriced healthcare down our throats.

Gees, even the Raiders wouldn’t do that.
Guess that’s why they call ‘em “semi-pro”…

TearEmUp   November 2nd, 2009 - 11:31 am

I’m not sure I’d give the Raiders that much credit Jason…lol

Liberalism on the gridiron!!!It’s not about winning or keeping score, remember?
It’s about good feelings!!!

demdicks   November 2nd, 2009 - 1:14 pm

I like the reaction of #14 on their team though, it says it all…..lol

Gotta love those football scholarships.

NV912er   November 2nd, 2009 - 3:40 pm

With talent like that you can see why we don’t have any top level pro-sports teams in Las Vegas. Should we put him on suicide watch, or hope he wins a Darwin Award?

jager1   November 2nd, 2009 - 4:32 pm

Gee, wonder why he isn’t pro….

Jana   November 3rd, 2009 - 12:21 am

You’ve gotta feel sorry for the guy. I don’t think anyone on his team is going to forget this for a long time.

Roger B.   November 3rd, 2009 - 6:14 am

Buffalo needs to sign this guy quickly!
