No, you are right…this story is a mess. The title & description do not match what was said in the interview & on Big Government, they are saying the story about the gangs taking over the Ranches on US soil is not true.
However, everything else in the interview, including the warning from the state department is true.
Part of the confusion I believe is due to two cities…..Nuevo Laredo, Mexico & Laredo, Texas. People are mixing them up or not realizing there are two cities in both countries with almost the same name.

It seem we may or may not have been" gamed" here. A lot of conflicting reports are now coming in. The overall picture seems that someone reported a trespassing on their land and another report claims that another site was taken over. one report is relying on inside infomation (on condition of anomymity) from "official" sources, and
th other report is relying on outside information from "official" sources.
In other words, everyone is relying on "official" sources, one way or another.
How about taking an SUV and going out to the ranches, talking to the ranchers, and the neighbors and set the record straight? If the locals can't get to the ranches because there are police roadblocks, then that would confirn the insider information. If there are no roadblocks, then that would confirm the outside information.

1) I was an advid reader of World Net Daily, especially during the Ramos and Compean ordeal. But in time it came clear to me that they are more into sensational reporting than digging up facts to report on. I've since distanced myself from them. I still appreciate what they did for the two mentoned former border patrol officers.
2) All I ask is to call the Laredo PD to confirm before reporting. Bob Owens did that for the Big Government section and reported that there were no ranches invaded or taken over. I thanked him for what he did.
Althuough I do not like to be called Republican, I've voted Republican in evey election I've ever voted in.

The reporter has a valid point… If this was the Middle East the media would be all over it….

That's precisely what makes this thing so fishy … the net outcome is de-facto "we'll neither confirm nor deny" — because no-one wants to do the footwork for whatever reason.
While Breitbart reports both sides (thus "neither confirming nor denying"), World Net Daily ends up pulling the story denying the incident, thus ending up non-reporting (constituting a "neither confirming nor denying" stance).
Net result of both actions: Media Blackout.
What I was hoping for was that residents from the vicinity of Laredo would come forward and submit reports to the effect "I live in the area and saw nothing suspicious" or "I am a resident of the neighborhood, and saw this and that" — but that is not happening, which I find the most puzzling. Why not? It can't possibly be that nobody down there shrugs matters such as these off?
More misinformation from a discredited blog site. The video says the violence is on the Mexican side of the border and the reports of seized ranches on the American side of the border is FALSE!!!!
So why post this? So Breitbart can race bait Latinos this time instead of Blacks this time and to give the moronic far right wing something else to foam at the mouth over. I guess Asians had better watch their step next week…
I know that neither education in general nor history in particular is a strong suit of the far right but the U.S. actually invaded Mexico City in the U.S.-Mexican War in which we took the entire southwest from Texas to California and established the present day borders.
The other obvious fail of your comment is that if foreign forces make it to the Alamo something is definitely wrong with our troops.

I think the following may be the original souce of this false rumor of Los Zetas taking over a couple of ranches. It was Sun Tzu (sp?) at this site who reported the story "confirmed" so I believed the story and reacted passionately on Lone star Times. It turn out though that the story was bogus. Posters here owe Bob Owens a big thank you for actually calling the Laredo Police Department to find out this story wasn't true; especially the part where "two people within the Laredo police department" are cited to have confirmed the Zeta take over.
By the way, I'm not exmpt from my own reponsibility in looking into this reported incident. Before reacting, I could have called the Laredo PD to confirm this report just as easily as anyone else.

Seizure is not necessarily appropriate regarding the Laredo ranches. Routinely, Los Zetas require passage through the large ranches to avoid border patrol checkpoints. The landowners, their ranch hands or tenants are “requested” to disappear while the gang passes their cargo through private property. This has been happening for YEARS. The present day occurrences appear to be more frequent as the border patrol steps up efforts to monitor the standard shipping lanes. The reports are real, though a bit exaggerated.
Some of the nonsense posted above is either naiveté or ignorance. The federal government is responsible to secure our borders. The fed is either unable or unwilling to do so. Some of my border patrol buddies tell stories that indicate the means and methods they are allowed to employ are wholly inadequate.
Eventually, one or more of the ranch owners will try to stand up to the Los Zeta thugs, and will probably die as a result. That story will certainly find its way to RW blogs and news outlets, but MSM will downplay to support the transformation of America.

I live in Laredo, and somehow fail to see that the land I'm residing on belongs to Mexico. They lost claim to it nearly 2 centuries ago.
