The trailer made the movie seem very much like the Chronicles of Narnia which really got me interested. I then went to the Golden Compass website and read and listened to the information on the movie. I was greatly troubled, not because of any reference to the church or christianity, but because of its blatant preaching of Shamanism. Spirit guides aka Daemons (read demons) are said to be the norm and if you don’t have one, you are said to be missing a part of yourself. Christians believe that 1/3 of the angels followed Lucifer in rebellion against God and were cast out of Heaven and now known as demons. To turn the term daemon into a part of you that you need to contact or channel to be complete is offensive to christians not because of our closed-mindedness but because it exposes children everywhere to demonology.

RobT415, wow hard to believe that there are still those that would decry “shamanism and Spirit guides” and then tout a different set of supernatural myths. It’s a story Rob…a movie, get a grip. You dont want to expose children to some made up myths yet you are all to happy to expose them to one of the most violent, sadistic, eviil books ever written, and then tell these same children that that are at their core evil and are doomed to hell unless they say the right words. You are the ones we should be watching out for. Not the writters of stories and scripts for movies.

Your interpretation of Christ’s words and his true followers are flawed. I am not here to attack your beliefs, but when criminalizing a God whom 89% of Americans say that they believe-in, you need to understand the true foundations of the church. Not the liberal media who depends on murder, death, kill, mayhem to sell you their products, and certainly not the classical scholar interpretation of events that were executed by power hungry expansionists. If you would like to know what God has in-store, if you would like to know how much he loves you, if you are truly seeking truth and light, I would only say you need to fall to your knees and pray for his forgiveness. My God is your God. His mercy is great. Even for Hollywood Jews and secular Liberals who ironically are hell bent on proving that heaven does not exist.

Ahahahahaaaaaa! I love it when religious folk get into a tizzy over a movie or book! Is your faith that weak? Pray, if pray you must, but I don’t see much difference in your praying and some shaman communing with his diety of choice.
