Rexter, are you really equating accidental targeting in Afghanistan with Palestinian suicide bombings? Cap and trade: Aside from the citizenry rightfully questioning an incredible government pursuing a utopian solution to a dubious problem, its main flaw is that “carrot” would be a better approach than “stick”.
To suggest military tribunals are unlawful is simply wrong. They remain standard practice, here and elsewhere. Congress authorized them, among other powers, in October of ‘02.

Holder was and is opposed to the Bush administration’s implementation of the Patriot Act, saying it is “bad ultimately for law enforcement and will cost us the support of the American people.” He has been critical of Enhanced interrogation techniques and the NSA warrantless surveillance program, accusing the Bush administration of a “disrespect for the rule of law… [that is] not only wrong, it is destructive in our struggle against terrorism.” >> This, at a time when America was, and is, under seige by radical Mulsim terrorists who not only have destroyed the World Trade Center as well as part of the Pentagon but who also killed over 3,000 American lives on September 11, 2001 and who continue to “infiltrate” the United States of America even as we speak. Eric Holder also favors closing Guantanamo and bringing the accused terrorists onto American soil to be tried in “civilian” court instead of Military tribunals where international terrorists should be tried. >> Think that might be “destructive” in our struggle against terrorism Eric?? Hmm?? >> The guys a pansy who favors giving known terrorists “constitutional” rights and has hired several lawyers to the DOJ (9 to be exact) who have known “links” to terrorists at Gitmo and elsewhere. By doing so it could “implicate” Holder’s wrong doing in the hiring of those lawyers and could, theoretically, get him fired for screwing up – yet again! Holder was also involved in Bill Clinton’s decision to reduce the criminal sentences of 16 members of the Boricua Popular Army, an organization that has been categorized by the FBI as a terrorist organization. In July 1999, Holder recommended clemency to then President Clinton. A month later, Clinton granted the clemency. According to The Hartford Courant, the clemency was unusual because it was opposed by the FBI, the federal prosecutor and the victims. According to the newspaper, it was also unusual because, before the commutations, the Boricua Popular Army members were not required to repudiate their actions, and they were not asked to provide any information concerning the whereabouts of Victor Manuel Gerena, a co-conspirator and one of the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, or the millions of dollars stolen by the group in a 1983 robbery of Wells Fargo in West Hartford, Connecticut. In his final days with the Clinton administration, Holder was involved with Clinton’s last-minute pardon of “fugitive” and Democratic contributor Marc Rich.
Holder presented friend and predecessor Janet Reno, Attorney General under the Clinton Administration, the American Judicature Society’s Justice Award on April 17, 2009. The award is the highest given by the AJS, and recognizes significant contributions toward improvements in the administration of justice within the United States. >> That, to a woman who severely bungled the “ill-advised” Branch Davidians siege in Texas in what would later be coined as the Waco “Massacre”.. as Reno gave the orders for the attack to proceed, and thereby, holding responsibility for the deaths of 82 men, women and children who perished in the ensuing inferno. Holder’s award to Janet Reno, in my opinion, is simply “payback” for her helping him out during the Clinton years.
And lastly (but certainly not least) on June 17, 2009, Senator Jeff Sessions criticized Eric Holder for the release of Bush administration memos that authorized “enhanced interrogation techniques”, saying that the memos gave important information to America’s enemies. >> Think that might be somewhat “destructive” in our continuing struggle against terrorism Eric?? I have a feeling that we will all know the Al queda seven before the November election. I believe Andrew Breitbart already knows and will hit them right between the eyes in a few months. Hopefully this will be enough for our remaining American Citizens in our Federal Government to impeached this President and hold all of the Al Queda nine along with Holder and Obama for Treason.

We’ve seen what happened to all those innocent Semitic Muslim children in Gaza.
The world will never forget the war crimes by the Turkic invaders that have massacred

Those of you still imagining that these tactics are effective and principled are deluded and dangerous. Just like torture, demonizing attorneys for doing their job isn’t effective, but more importantly it’s damaging to our values and contrary to our principles. The goal of this video is to damage Justice and Holder by forcing them to protect those who offered legal counsel to accused terrorists or Gitmo detainees.
But providing legal counsel is an essential Constitutional value. There is no quibbling around that.
Note also that those lawyers in Justice or elsewhere who have defended terrorists are uniquely qualified to pursue or prosecute them; that these lawyers have very strong records; that they have been supported by many conservatives who have described the video as ‘a smear’; that revealing their names in response to a political attack would be abhorrent to any one of you in an analogous position because you say you “value loyalty,” “protect your own,” and “disdain petty political head hunting,” etc ad nauseum.
(never mind that Cheney’s motive is even more disgusting–she hopes to damage and paralyze Justice to forestall any investigation into torture by the US. That is, she has a personal, not a patriotic interest, in protecting Dick Cheney from his richly deserved prosecution. This is the vilest and most transparent component of the campaign, but is blithely overlooked by torturers and their enablers. Why? Because democrats and liberals are always bad.)
Consider the remarks in Salon today from a real patriot–an American expert in interrogation who has actually interrogated actual terrorists with actual results. He demolishes Thiessen’s pathetic contortion (which is parallel to Liz Cheney’s pathetic contortion) and includes this in conclusion:
“The America that I know and signed up to defend does not stand exclusively for security. It also stands for freedom, justice, and liberty. It stands for universal rights afforded to every human being (even unlawful combatants or “detained persons”). America, as Thiessen surely has written into many a presidential speech, is a beacon of light precisely because it represents the protection of basic human rights. Yet, in Courting Disaster, Thiessen thoroughly villainizes those who defend individual rights against the state (such as members of the Center for Constitutional Rights). Thiessen’s ideology represents exactly what we are fighting against in the battle with Islamic extremism—the regression of human rights and the sacrifice of individual protections to the state.”
Clearly the sputtering chickenhawks and the violent and the deluded among you–and the bloggers who capitalize on your ignorance and fury–are beyond logic when it comes to these campaigns. They work, a little, and besides you’ve been committed to them so long you have lost the capacity to think like a member of a functioning society; all you know is the ugly villainous bigotry of eliminationalism and double standards. But some among you are starting to notice how far from reality and principle you have strayed. I’m a practicing liberal, of course, but I value the discourse from a sane and committed opposition. It takes both sides of a discussion to make any policy or principle sense, and so long as this scurrilous and destructive (and simply foolish) rhetoric is the standard, we will continue to damage ourselves more than any terrorist attack.
So read things, think, and grow up.
