Jon Stewart Mocks Obama’s Hush Plan for…Weatherization

"Not to tip our hand too much..."

jp2feminist   December 8th, 2009 - 12:00 pm

Yes, Jon. . . .he wants to weatherize homes. . . .Now can you see why we didn’t vote for him? Duh!

SubjectoftheUSSA   December 8th, 2009 - 12:03 pm

Maybe one day Leibowitz will open his eyes and realize that corporate tax he’s laughing at, is nothing but a tax on the people. Corporations exist for one thing, to make money. They pass the taxes off on us as fast as Congress can write them.

Yeah legalize drugs, that’ll fix the economy. Legalizing drugs creates 0 jobs, and will cost the gubment billions of dollars. Nobody is going to go buy government pot when they can grow it themselves. Well idiots like Leibowitz probably would.

Whatta Dick   December 8th, 2009 - 12:04 pm

Hope and Change!

Andy   December 8th, 2009 - 12:05 pm

That’s funny. I don’t agree with Jon Stewart on a lot of things, but at least he is starting to get it… Obama is a complete train wreck idiot who couldn’t run a hot dog stand let alone this country. Our Congress and elected leaders have no intent to promote job creation since you need capital, retained earnings, savings, production, and hard work with minimal barriers to entry for business formation.

I encourage anyone to read Economics in One Lesson by Hazlitt. It was written 60 years ago, but is as relevant as any other piece of literature today. Oh, and Hazlitt wrote for that crazy publication called the New York Times…. back when the Times wasn’t hemorraging money.

Paul Thompson   December 8th, 2009 - 12:42 pm

Right now, weatherizing a home is paying about $7 dollars an hour, so I guess Obama is going to drive up the cost of energy so this weatherizing plan will be more viable?

dontflagmebro   December 8th, 2009 - 1:01 pm

What he means is World Court enforcing global warming taxes. Weatherizing means taxing you for weather.

Mark Carlton   December 8th, 2009 - 1:28 pm

How about that? The folks who said Obama is Jimmy Carter were right after all.

jeemymalaise   December 8th, 2009 - 2:15 pm

I’ve already got my sweater on and I’m still cold. I sure hope the Obadministration will take the limit-stop off my thermostat soon.

killerCO2   December 8th, 2009 - 2:24 pm

When Obama talks he spews out carbon dioxide. Doesn’t he know his EPA czar just defined CO2 as toxic to humans? BHO’s talking is especially toxic.
Oh, I get it; EPA only wants us peons to stop breathing. Breathing is reserved for the enlightened who attend Copenhagen conferences.
I’m gradually catching on; there are too many people on earth. Conservatives, Libertarians and Tea Party folks must be smothered.
Being an avid believer in the mulings of the NYT, I had been under the impression the socialists were genuinely concerned about the “little people.”
Just shows to go ya.

Mike   December 8th, 2009 - 2:38 pm

The cost to the American people for each and every job created through the so-called Stimulus bill is like $237,000 dollars each! For “each” job created!! The reason it is so high is the fact that so very “few” jobs have actually been created so far by the 800 billion dollar stimulus package. Billions of dollars have already been released into the system but most of that money has gone out to Obama supporters in Democratic districts as payback for helping him get elected, and NOT necessarily to area’s of the economy around the country that need it the most. I call that ‘favoritism’ and ‘unfair’ and quite frankly ‘illegal’. And now Obama is saying today that we have to “spend” our way out of this recession?? Apparently EIGHT HUNDRED BILLION is not enough and we have to spend MORE??? If EIGHT HUNDRED BILLION hasn’t done diddly squat how on earth does he think BILLIONS more will do any better?? Japan tried to do the same thing i.e. spend their way out of recession in the 90’s and it got them NO WHERE! In fact they call the 90’s Japan’s LOST decade. Why would Obama try to do the same thing!?!? Because he hasn’t learned the lessons from history perhaps? Socialism/Communism/Marxism hasn’t worked where ever it has been tried either. Yet Obummer is foolhardily going full steam ahead with his Socialist/Marxist/Communist agenda and taking America over the cliff with him. Unless?? Unless we, the American people, “stop” him and his liberal Democratic cohorts from getting away with it. How can we stop him/them?? First of all make your voice heard both here and other places on the Net and in your local communities, and then tell everyone you know to get out and VOTE on upcoming election day(s). If we UNITE and muster our resolve to commit whatever it takes to get the job done we can vote these “menaces to society” and to the American way of life – out on their duffs come Nov. 2010 and Nov. 2012 and every election in between for that matter. Let’s not let the liberal “statists” destroy America the Beautiful shall we? Let’s take our Country back to: WE THE PEOPLE! And back to the principles laid out for us in OUR CONSTITUTION! But even more importantly, let’s do it for our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great children, and everyone who would otherwise be straddled with this monstrous and grievously burdensome financial “debt” they will have to bear, and consequently, need to repay – if indeed Obama and his liberal cohorts get their way. NO WAY!! NObama!! NO Reid!! No Pelosi!! NO MORE!!

Judas?   December 8th, 2009 - 3:20 pm

Turning on your Messiah you libs? How dare you mock your Saviour.

unkonate   December 8th, 2009 - 3:30 pm

Mike, even though I agree with you, just don’t hold back so much, buddy – tell us how you REALLY feel!

Andy   December 8th, 2009 - 3:33 pm

Just the premise of the federal government creating jobs is just a complete fallacy. The government does not create anything it didn’t get from some productive sector of the economy. It redistributes other people money, capital, savings, and resources to allocate somewhere else. Stimulus (or whatever you call it) is nothing other than central planning of the state economy as it was done by Soviet Commissars who think they know where private capital can best be used.

Take for example “green jobs”… well, we all know that many (if not all) “green” products (i.e. hybrid cars) have to be subsidized to compete with other products making them (hybrids) not economically viable. That is why the gov’t has to give new hybrid owners a “tax credit” to buy them since they are too expensive to compete against proven and modern technology.

Second, the government experiment of “Stimulus” is the exact application of the “Broken Window” Fallacy http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parable_of_the_broken_window which was brilliantly theorized by a 19th Century french economist Frederic Bastiat. People “see” what government creates (i.e. think of all the “Recovery and Reinvestment Act” signs next to hwy construction sites) … but they do fail to see what was destoryed in the process. http://jim.com/econ/chap02p1.html

While I know this sounds very simple, this is the basis for much of the Keynesian economic policies that have infected our economy for the past 80 years (under both political parties). The Republicans do it for the Corporate Welfare/Warfare state and Democrats do it for the sake of the Social Welfare State, Labor Unions paybacks, and marxist Redistribution of Wealth strategies.

Don’t take my advice… take it from folks such as Bastiat, Hazlitt, Hayek, Mises, and Rothbard.

Why   December 8th, 2009 - 5:00 pm

Stewart and the like are the ones that wanted him in office. I don’t care what Stewart says about him… or anything.

Waffen SS   December 8th, 2009 - 5:55 pm

Jon nailed it I was thinking ancient Rome did the same thing before their collapse…

I actually got a few chuckles outta’ that skit! Whoa!!!

Caligia 2012 may be the cry from here on out from the left!

steve in Pa.   December 8th, 2009 - 6:22 pm

How did Jon get permission from NBC to make fun of Obama?

Chris T   December 8th, 2009 - 6:28 pm

Is Stewart so dense as to not recognize that “tip our hand too much” means he doesnt want to leak out that yes, while we have been promoting weatherization, we will in the future be REQUIRING (see: regulation – Cass Sunstein) that you make sure you weatherize your home. They will come into your home and regulate that you perform steps to be “eco-friendly” or possibly get sent to jail much like not buying health insurance. I know its a comedy show, and yes, it was mildly funny, but at some point joking about real events to idiots (sorry, i, unlike oreilly and beck who claim that the general public is mostly smart and know in their guts something bad is happening) clouds their ability to know that they are being scammed, black -mailed, and slowly being sold into modern-day slavery. The general public (the ones sitting on the couch watching reality shows) are too stupid to realize they are being assimilated (to steal a term).
