Italian-American Group Wants MTV to Dump ‘Jersey Shore’ Reality Show

NBC New York: UNICO National, the largest Italian-American service organization in the country, said Tuesday that "Jersey Shore" relies on crude stereotypes and highlights cursing, bad behavior and violence in depicting renters at a New Jersey beach house. A MTV promo describes the participants thusly: "They keep their hair high, their muscles juiced and their fists pumping all summer long!"

Boy, you can just feel the IQ of our nation being sucked away.

Can we return to the “sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me” model?

Are we all willing to turn away from truth at any expense?

There is truth in all stereotypes. So what? There are always exceptions to the rule.

PCism is a cancer on all forms of human interaction.

Jersey Shore is full of Puerto Ricans, not Italians   November 25th, 2009 - 6:51 pm

I don’t get it. 1/2 the actors on this show aren’t even Italian, they are are a bunch of Liberal partying Puerto Rican, drug sucking wastes. Might as well have this show about South Beach where you can’t even take your kids to have a good time & just experience the Beach because of these drunken idiots.

The same type of people that watch American Idol and Dancing with the Stars and Oprah and the View and . . . and . . .
will be wasting their time watching this crap also.

There’s and on/off switch on all Televisions — these people just don’t know how to use it.

Some people are just beyond hope.

Jersey Shore - Show that displays the chunkiness of today's idiot kids   November 26th, 2009 - 9:59 am

A show where the girls are chunky with Muffin tops and guys are pretty much chunky themselves and act like girls.

It looks like a typical reality television program but I do appreciate the president of the Italian American organization pointing out the slur in the promo. That is pretty low, and I’m sure that MTV was hoping no one would say anything about it.

As one that lives near Seaside NJ, I can tell you these idiots exist. BUT, they are not from this area, they are referred to as BENNY’s (Brooklyn, Elizabeth, Newark, New York). They come down with their attitudes, driving dad’s Cadillac STS, acting like they are in the mob.

Maybe it’s good to shine a light on these cockroaches.

What an idiot.

I would have never heard of this show had this group called for it to be pulled. Now I can’t wait.

Guidos are extremely entertaining as they are all roiders who do nothing but drink, fight, and dance (all while sporting frosted tips and lip gloss).

Awesome.

Wow. Can you hear yourselves? PC apparently only applies to those approved minorities and groups. The rest are fair game for any slander and racist remarks you might like to throw. Is that how it works? Maybe we should shine some light on your ethnic and race..particularly those throwing the slurs and racist remarks in these comments. Every single group and race has a sorted past and a host of sins. Its odd though that some get the light shone on them and others do not. By the way, those italians once owned you…the Roman Empire.
