Maybe this is a good reason not to give any credibility to masked terrorists like the ETA –
Goals and Objectives: ETA aims to establish a Basque homeland based on Marxist principles in the ethnically Basque areas in northern Spain and southwestern France.
Favored Tactics: ETA has conducted bombings, shootings, kidnappings, and assassinations.
State Supporters and Other Sources of Funding: ETA members have reportedly received training in Lebanon, Libya, Yemen, and Nicaragua, as well as sanctuary in Cuba. The ETA finances itself through kidnappings, robberies, and extortion. The group has been known to rob banks, traffic in drugs, and extort money from businesses in the Basque regions.

Well on a plus side, this may be an indicator that the international war on terror is moving somewhere…hey, just a possibility…

ETA has got to face reality…do they really think that they are going to be able to form their own country when in order to do so they have to break up two internationaly recognized countries? It would almost be like the mexicans trying to conquer part of the United States….oh wait that's happening…hmm I'm at a loss
The Basques are one of the oldest groups of peoples in Europe. They are one of the few groups that still speak their ancient language. They are not part of Spain and France because of choice, but because of military domination. I disagree with ETA's tactics, but I do support Basque independence, if that's what the majority of Basque choose.
All peoples should be allowed to govern themselves. That's the prime American ideal. That's the reason we need to neuter the power of Washington D.C. and return the power to state and local governments.
That's not the "prime American ideal" that every ethnic sub group have it's own country – that is like saying whites should be in one area in the US, blacks should be in a different area in the US, Hispanics should be in a different area in the US, etc, etc, like Indian tribes. The American ideal is a single national identity with a melting pot society of ethnic groups who consider themselves Americans first, with equal representation and equal opportunity.
The problem comes when people like the UN draw up artificial national boundaries and force ethnic groups like the Kurds to be a part of Iraq and Turkey instead of leaving it as a separate country of Kurdistan between Iraq and Turkey as they used to have. Same story in the Baltic area with Yugoslavia etc where the UN forced too many ethnic groups who never got along with each other into a single country.

No, the prime American ideal is self governance. It's what America was founded on. America was designed to be a federalist system, with strong local governments and a weak national government. It was meant to be a coalition of sovereign states. The only way to force all peoples to be the same is through tyranny of a overpowered national government that usurps the rights of individuals in favor of the collective. That's not the American way.

If we support a homeland for Jews then why not a homeland for these people? I guess they need to learn they must first move to the US and take over our media, banks and prime positions in government. Then they can hijack the country to pay enormous amounts of money to their homeland and send Americans to die for their causes.
