Imus: Pat Robertson ‘Should Be Put to Sleep’

"You know, I’m not sure whether sometimes I’m ambivalent about whether I support the death penalty or not. I guess I do if I didn’t have to do it, but in his case, I’d pull the switch on him myself. I mean he should be put to sleep. How does that contribute anything? It’s insanity."

Imus should be put to sleep as much as Robertson. And he sounds like he was a bit clueless about the actual events.

here he goes again   January 14th, 2010 - 2:08 pm

Imus Your mouth is going to get you in trouble again

Code green   January 14th, 2010 - 2:08 pm

Imus on one hand and Pat Robertson on the other. God help us . Two wrinkel a$$ed old farts, whos time has come,to go.

rufus levin   January 14th, 2010 - 2:09 pm

Don Imus is yesterday’s old sick business. Why does ANYONE even give him a forum to speak on. Both he and his wife may do some good work with Cancer ridden kids…and that is fine, and his own business…but he is a mule headed trash talking idiot that looks as if he died years ago and had his mummy unwrapped and put under a stupid hat and allowed to go onto the TV to frighten kids and sell cosmetics. Enough…he was better with nappy headed talk. He is history gone bad. Bye Bye, Donnie.

RobertB   January 14th, 2010 - 2:16 pm

Well, Robertson’s Operation Blessing International was providing humanitarian relief to Haiti back when Imus was pulling the wings off of nappy headed ho’s, so as stupid as his remark was, I think he deserves a pass as much as Harry Reid does.

Everyone agrees with me   January 14th, 2010 - 2:18 pm

See what happens when you start pickin on God’s people Don. Your cronies become delusional and possessed and start chattering foolish nonsense. Hey Don, I think your 10 gallon hat is pinching that little brain of yours too much. Move on…

claspur   January 14th, 2010 - 2:18 pm

Who pays attention to that peckerwood Imus, anyway?

No wonder Howard always hated that jagoff.

Pastor David   January 14th, 2010 - 2:28 pm

Do we think that the people killed by the tower of Siloam (Luke 13: 4) were any greater sinners than the rest? No. But unless Imus repents, Pat repents, I repent, and you repent, we will all likewise perish. So called “Christians” in Haiti who are going to church on Sunday, and practicing Voodoo on Monday need to repent, too. Please remember that Amos was hated, Elijah was hated, Jeremiah was hated, and Jesus was hated, just because they told the truth. However, I agree that truth needs to be spoken with love.

O'Really?   January 14th, 2010 - 2:29 pm

Imus,
Outstanding point! Maybe we should waterboard the creep until his evil heart explodes.

Keep the comments in perspective:

Statement Regarding Pat Robertson’s Comments on Haiti
CBN.com – VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., January 13, 2010 — On today’s The 700 Club, during a segment about the devastation, suffering and humanitarian effort that is needed in Haiti, Dr. Robertson also spoke about Haiti’s history. His comments were based on the widely-discussed 1791 slave rebellion led by Boukman Dutty at Bois Caiman, where the slaves allegedly made a famous pact with the devil in exchange for victory over the French. This history, combined with the horrible state of the country, has led countless scholars and religious figures over the centuries to believe the country is cursed. Dr. Robertson never stated that the earthquake was God’s wrath. If you watch the entire video segment, Dr. Robertson’s compassion for the people of Haiti is clear. He called for prayer for them. His humanitarian arm has been working to help thousands of people in Haiti over the last year, and they are currently launching a major relief and recovery effort to help the victims of this disaster. They have sent a shipment of millions of dollars worth of medications that is now in Haiti, and their disaster team leaders are expected to arrive tomorrow and begin operations to ease the suffering.

I’m with Imus on this one. Yet if putting Robertson to “sleep” is what he wants, just forcing Pat to listen to Imus in the morning ought to do the trick.

Rob   January 14th, 2010 - 3:38 pm

Amazing, Liberals will back the much maligned Imus as long as he is bashing a Christian.

kmichaels   January 14th, 2010 - 3:49 pm

OReally busily hating Christians like a good little leftist troll. How quaint. But not surprising. It is what idiot leftists do so well.

O'Really?   January 14th, 2010 - 4:08 pm

kmichaels,
Since when is Robertson a Christian? How is, “You all deserved it, now I’ll pray for you”, consistant with Christian values.

Your problem is that you claim to be a Christian while hating everyone with whom you do not agree. I thought that Christianity was the religion of love and understanding. A lot of the people that you have been trashing here today are very conservative Christians that think that Robertson is a jerk for his comments.

infinitefreedom   January 14th, 2010 - 4:16 pm

We’re all victims of the obama induced second depression. & are reduced to useless banter. It’s one of those things that’s gone up, along with our crime rates.

Tubby   January 14th, 2010 - 5:19 pm

For once I completely agree with Imas. In fact while we’re at it, let’s add the fat boy Limplaugh, insanity hannity, tran coultergeist, billo the clown, the whole faux & freaks, caribou barbie, etc. and all you right religious frekazoids that troll this thinly veiled triple k site. I’ll be in line to inject the lethal mixture with glee!

Tectonic plates have been shifting more in the last 30 years than in the last 200. Perhaps it is because of possible gravitational effects of the Earth getting closer to the Sun? Anyone who follows astronomy knows that our Sun is expanding, slowly but surely. Imus and Robertson are both knotheads. Voodoo is a religion in some African cultures. Helping those people is the best that we can do. I have donated money. The unlikely hero is Bill Clinton. He should be recognized more so than those two buffoons.

world-upside-down   January 14th, 2010 - 5:36 pm

This is the first time i ever sgree with Imus , wow !! i don’t know how to make sense of the world.

theologyman   January 14th, 2010 - 5:47 pm

1) God is sovereign over all events – good and bad, so he obviously “allowed” (to use a weak term) this to happen.

2) Bad things happen to “good” people, and good things happen to “bad” people, and there is not perfect justice in this world (by God’s design). Job suffered because he was righteous, while Satan enjoys life and prospers.

3) Unless God Himself tells us in his word a particular disaster was for a particular sin, we simply have no idea why it happened to any particular person other than it will turn out to have been discipline to help them, or punishment to harden them further.

4) The Moral Law God has established works in such a way that there is a built in “reap and sow” principle in the world, e.g. if you elect a socialist, you will pay more in taxes, have less money for your healthcare, and may therefore die sooner. In that sense, one might speak of suffering “divine retribution” for the folly of voting for a socialist.

So it’s not so easy to ever discern human events as though one were a prophet with the inside scoop as to why such and such event happens. It is not for us to read tea leaves or treat Providence like a tarot card, it is ours to simply have compassion where we can and live according to what God HAS revealed in the Bible. No more, no less.

Sage   January 14th, 2010 - 5:48 pm

Imus should be put to sleep right along with him

artm   January 14th, 2010 - 6:04 pm

The world does not want to hear about a God who will judge sin. God is love, and yet He will judge mankind for their sin.

Thor   January 14th, 2010 - 6:11 pm

Imus is an idiot of the 10th degree so his opinions lack any merit whatsoever. Tell Fox News to fire him.

NCMike   January 14th, 2010 - 6:59 pm

It is simply incredible how people who tolerate, rationalize and excuse, the most outrageous
and vile behavior, are so reflexively and viscerally enraged by words. The failure to transcend
feelings and emotions is a national calamity. With the infantilization of America, the adult
skill of self-control has been lost. By placing “sensitivity” on a pedestal, rational thought
has become the victim. Furthermore, the practice of being “non-judgemental” is applicable only
to those prescribed behaviors, exercised by prescribed people, and does not apply universally
to all. “Protected speech” has become the province of only those on the left while the opinions
of conservatives or Christians particularly, are emotionally and reflexively characterized as
“hate”. As with small children, the lefties appear to possess the magical power to determine
and define motivations and intentions.

Well dumbass OReally, what it is is yet another bad dumbass style of misrepresenting the facts of this case. That is the problem. You, Oreally, don’t mind lying your dumbass off on these kind of stories so any old dumbass like oyu can make is sound worse than it was.

John Halsey   January 14th, 2010 - 7:35 pm

I agree with Imus. Put Pobertson to sleep right after James Earl Carter drinks the Kool-Aid. There has to be a point that even the whacked out press corp realizes that after senility sets in the game is over and it’s “hands off”. No more preying on these unfortunates by exposing them to the public glare.

Kevin   January 14th, 2010 - 8:14 pm

Pat Robertson has reduced himself to the level of the Westboro Baptist church. Will he be picketing the funerals too. How any Christian can support this monster is beyond me.

I hope the BCast chat room does not become a place where only supporters of this loon can speak. On todays live show who did not support this stupidity was shouted down and ridiculed.

I am waiting to see if this continues.

J Christopherson   January 14th, 2010 - 8:42 pm

Yes Pat Robertson said something idiotic but should be put to death for it? How HYPOCRITICAL Imus! You’re lucky that someone didn’t pull the plug on you for your stupid comment regarding the NAPPY HEADED HO’s from Rutgers.

He’s been kissin nword butt ever since he told the truth about the ho’s on the basket ball team.He ought to share his show with that other white scarecrow “Dog Duane Chapman” who was embarassing to watch crying around pleading for Rev Al to forgive him for using the nword. The reason Imus has that phoney “Ranch” for kids is so he can live there and get a huge tax break.

Pat Robertson & Danny Glover on Cause of Haiti Earthquake
Once again when a natural disaster strikes Americans respond with assistance. The American people immediately go into action to help those in need because that is the kind of people we are. The world looks to the USA for our response. President Barack Hussein Obama has pledged 100 million taxpayers dollars for support of Haiti. However, the answer is not to just throw money at it because the USA has been sending millions of dollars to Haiti but the corrupt leadership misused and stole the money.
Pat Robertson made a statement regarding the earthquake in Haiti blaming it on the pact the Haitian’s made with the devil. He believes it is the wrath of God that perpetrated this disaster. Although, it is a factual story; the Haitian’s did a voodoo ceremony making a compact with the devil. It’s a history lesson that I do not think needed to be taught at this time. It was an insensitive statement made during the time of the crisis, akin to kicking someone when they are down. Robertson was crucified by the media for making the statement, which was stupid and insensitive.
Danny Glover on the other hand blamed the earthquake on the god of Global Warming. He stated we are all in peril because of global warming and climate change. When we (USA) did what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen this is the response, this is what happens. It will be interesting to see if there is the same amount of outrage directed towards him.
There will be natural disasters throughout the world, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tornados, and hurricanes etc. because ā€œIt is what it is.ā€ That is the nature of our planet. I do not believe it is ā€œgod’s will.ā€
