Painful as it must be for this person to be caught in his own stew, the pain he is inflicting on his family must be horrendous. We all make choices in life, some say being gay isn’t a choice….however one chooses how they handle it. One can be gay, live openly but control the urges to have multiple partners, or even remain celebate. One can be straight, live the mainstream life-style be faithful to their commitments, or even remain celebate. It is when people who opt to go outside of their supposed life-style, living a lie and bringing ridicule/shame to those they have deceived that we see tradgedy unfold. If one chooses poorly, one has to be willing to accept the consequences of the poor choice.

I can’t help but wonder why he voted so steadfastly against so-called “gay rights”, while being a pillow biter himself. All part of the cover-up maybe? Self-hatred? Very odd…

This has absolutely nothing to do with Mathews or Olbermann. They are NOT public servants running on a anti gay or anti human rights agenda to appease their constituents. They don’t claim to have the religious market cornered as most conservatives do. As a result, I know many conservatives that are disgusted with their own leadership and simply don’t know who to trust. That in it’s self puts their party in a very serious dilemma.

I can’t begin to tell you how many Conservative Republicans I know that have basically given up on their party. I live in an extremely conservative area of the country and because of these types of news stories, they are starting to become more tolerant. Especially the young vote. Seems more and more every day the right is getting caught with their hypocritical hands in the cookie jar. And no matter how they try to spin it, the people hate hypocrites more than they hate gays. Whether we like it or not, the fact is that most of these issues have become a generation gap that many young people just don’t want any part of. Too many of their relatives and friends are not as willing to live in the closet and thus the voter is not as willing to disfranchise them for what they are starting to realize is a personal issue and has NOTHING to do with fiscal responsibilities. Thus the party will either be forced to embrace the gay issue as a human right issue, or in time go the way of the dinosaur (much sooner than they would like to believe). These are simple number facts my friend and once again, trying to tie Mathews and Olbermann with the parties own gay issues, wont change it a bit, period.

Forgive me if I doubt your bonafides within the conservative community. Where have all the conservative republicans gone? To the democrat party? Cmon, that’s laughable on it’s face. You should at least try to back up your assertions with some facts rather than telling us about all the conservatives you “know”. As far as the whole we don’t hold ourselves up cornering the religious market of ideas, that is just another way of saying everything is o.k. for me because i’m a liberal. kind of like a get out of jail free card. As a 30’s, conservative, mildly intelligent, Christian man who lives with same sex attraction, I’m baffled and irritated to see that my fellow Americans who are in such close agreement with me on a host of principles could skip over every pertinent detail of these situations and always land on the fact that the guy is gay. Why aren’t we blaming the transgressions of straight people on their sexuality? If the straight community had the corner on morality I think we’d have a better than abysmal divorce rate in this country. I’m disgusted by the filthy comments that I read on here from people I likely share a pew with at church for Christ’s sake. You need to know that not every gay man embraces our cultures fascination with meaningless sex, materialism, and alcohol/drug abuse. Some of us are just trying to figure out how the hell to play the hand we’ve been dealt in stinking life. You probably outta know that what straights do in the bedroom isn’t very pretty ether, baby. And your son/daughter, even if they’re lucky enough to be straight are probably engaging in or have engaged in their own share of casual sex and substance abuse.
