Hume Defends Fox: Asks How CNN, Others ‘Like Being Patted on the Head’ by White House

Newsbusters: On the Oct. 19 broadcast of Fox News Channel's "Special Report with Bret Baier," Hume gave his best effort to rationalize why White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel and Obama Senior Advisor David Axelrod used two Sunday morning news show appearances to beat up on the highly rated news channel. According to Hume, it was because they disapproved of the stories his channel broke over the last few months.

Good for you Brit!

Four   October 20th, 2009 - 12:43 pm

I really enjoy the fact that when the WH gives so much attention to Fox News, it just brings in more viewers. That’s a great way for more people to see who we REALLY have working FOR us… a bunch of communist-loving, leftist nuts. When more people wake up to see it, it’ll be a great turning point. Thanks White House!

P.E.   October 20th, 2009 - 12:43 pm

They love being patted on the head like the good dogs that they are…One can only hope that they will choose to bite the hand that feeds…

Roll over MSNBC…good boy!! You get a treat er…I mean a bailout!!….

CommonSense   October 20th, 2009 - 12:44 pm

The MSM has no problem with being patted on their heads by the “Socialist In Cheif” because they want the same thing for this country as Obama:
to see it ruined and destroyed. They have been after this since before the 60’s – the radicals from then are just grown up and in power now. Google the Frankfurt School.
WAKE UP AMERICA!

txmike   October 20th, 2009 - 12:47 pm

Uncritical and unskeptical is the new motto of abc, nbc, cbs and cnn. How weak. Their perspective is not trustworthy. Just like our current President.

JameS   October 20th, 2009 - 12:55 pm

And how did Fox like being patted on the head by the Whitehouse when Bush was feeding them their talking points?

cs   October 20th, 2009 - 12:57 pm

Why can’t the WH strategists admit : Obama cannot afford to hear the truth, he wants it sugarcoated to fit his agenda. Thus his desire to silence Fox.

Britt is right in asking the other networks ‘how they liked being patted on the head’. . . like little puppies. Ooops, I don’t want to hurt their feelings by alluding to them as small, cute, and immature. They are all grown lapdogs!;D

And how did Fox like being patted on the head by the Whitehouse when Bush was feeding them their talking points?

Do you even watch Fox?

SubjectoftheUSSA   October 20th, 2009 - 1:42 pm

Miss seeing Brit on Fox all the time. Looks like he’s a big Beck fan.

txmike   October 20th, 2009 - 1:50 pm

And how did Fox like being patted on the head by the Whitehouse when Bush was feeding them their talking points?

More wild accusations by the democrats. Just like their inept leader.

Early Cuyler   October 20th, 2009 - 1:54 pm

Olbermann should take notes. This is how you effectively rip on someone; not by calling someone fat or ugly.

Lisa B.   October 20th, 2009 - 2:01 pm

Early Cuyler: That would never work, he would actually have to work, and he doesn’t have the intelligence to hold a pen and write on paper.

Ratt   October 20th, 2009 - 2:02 pm

JamesS obviously doesn’t watch FOX, that, or he recieved his stimulis package. I watch the Alphabet channels they lie. They absolutely avoided coverage of ACORN, the Tea Parties were dismissed as a joke, and the Citizens that went to the Town Hall Meetings were labeled as Terrorist along with Veterans, Christians, Conservatives and anyone who owned a Bible or a Gun.

The Alphabets should be tried for sedition and treason for they have become the enemy.

“JameS October 20th, 2009 – 12:55 pm

And how did Fox like being patted on the head by the Whitehouse when Bush was feeding them their talking points?”

Fox was never really pro-Bush. They were definitely not rabid anti-Bush like CNN, MSNBC and CBS.

jbone   October 20th, 2009 - 2:22 pm

how dare fox question obama.. thats what journalists are supposed to be doing.. go get ‘em oprah!

I love you Britt

Kagiso Edwards   October 20th, 2009 - 6:47 pm

Bush was mercilessly attacked by MSM … he never condemned CNN and all the rest as NOT a NEWS network .. What Obama is doing is a historical first .. attacking the freedom of the press .. because he is a arrogant loser who will blame anyone else except himself for his stupidity about so very much that is hurting our nation and our democracy …. Americans united against this crud that MSM and OBama want to shove done our throats ..OBama’s argument is if you disagree, SHUT UP .. how injust .. what a fool ..

demdicks   October 20th, 2009 - 7:19 pm

Go Fox News, these white house idiots are just attracting millions more viewers, Fox will dig in and investigate every one of these maoist czar clowns and put a hurt of damage on the odumster

steve   October 20th, 2009 - 8:20 pm

I miss Brit Hume and can only hope he’ll come back with his own show again soon.

HeyStupidCNN   October 20th, 2009 - 8:24 pm

Brit is a real reporter, not a repeater of AP stories, which is what most reporters are today. He’s the modern day Ed Murrow, who he kinda, sorta, resembles.
Go, Brit, go. You’re the best.

(aside) I loved when you used to bite off Juan William’s head when he got too smugly liberal—as he is now.

asleep No More   October 20th, 2009 - 8:35 pm

Wish I could thank Mr. Hume personally for taking the “high road.”

Lizbeth   October 20th, 2009 - 8:36 pm

Obama and his White House naturally go to their “Chicago thug ways” which work from whence Obama came. Obama is an angry socialist bully and if you don’t bow and kiss his feet, he is going to GET you.

John   October 20th, 2009 - 8:42 pm

Vote the bums out. Use only an absentee ballot so your vote can’t be cancelled out in a machine. Take back our vote and take back our country.

Fr. Farry Fat Fonds Frent   October 20th, 2009 - 8:59 pm

If Fox News isn’t news why are you liberal retards so worried about it?

Steve F   October 20th, 2009 - 9:06 pm

Mr. Hume has ALWAYS been fair and objective. He started his career at various networks and was ALWAYS respected, so I find it strange that now (that he is employed by FOX) he is no longer to be trusted. The reasoning of the LEFT always leaves out one thing HONESTY! I have never seen a President (since Kennedy) that was as UNQUALIFIED as Obama..even Carter seemed to have more class, understanding, and respect for our Republic..that Obama is TRYING to destroy!

Stacy   October 20th, 2009 - 9:16 pm

Why hasn’t Dunn been forced to step down?

Really.

CNN   October 20th, 2009 - 9:50 pm

It’s a lot better than getting kicked in the behind Brit!

Enrico Rastelle   October 20th, 2009 - 10:23 pm

good boy CNN… that reminds me… I have to go give the dog a pat on the head after he chased the stick and brought it back…. good boy… good boy!

Dick Franco   October 20th, 2009 - 10:27 pm

I have to say that since Obama and his critters have been talking bad about MAINSTREAM FOX, I have very little trouble getting my liberal friends to watch and watch and watch and start turning to FOX for the real evidence and the real news ! Everyone is waiting for the critters to answer to the USA’s premier news network FOX ! They are all a bunch of cowards hiding their bogus deeds. FOX sheds light on them and they just don’t like it… like rats!

george_e_girl   October 20th, 2009 - 11:04 pm

I despised George Bush and never voted for him, but that man had class when it
came to dealing with his detractors and enemies. I’m leery of all media, but
Fox News wins hands down!! They do lean conservative (not Republican), but
so what…the rest of the media lean liberal. If Obama and all of the
libs want to shun, boycott and badmouth Fox, go right ahead. You do it at your
own peril!! I’m amazed at how poorly Obama is performing as president. I didn’t
vote for him, based on his liberal/socialist philosophy, but I honestly thought
he was smarter than this. He needs to fire all of his advisers because they are
leading him down the road to ruin….not that I really care. My concern is for
my country and my fellow Americans. I’m so tired of arguing with idiots, but
I won’t give up!! IT’S ABSOLUTE INSANITY THAT THIS ADMINISTRATION IS ATTEMPTING
TO DESTROY PEOPLE BECAUSE THEY DARE TO ASK QUESTIONS!! KEEP ON GOING GLENN AND
FOX NEWS!!!!! GREAT JOB!!!!!! WE ARE WITH YOU!!!!!

mlshoe   October 21st, 2009 - 12:02 am

And so the White House hands Fox News a new slogan… “Fox News: The news they don’t want you to know.”

Emudude   October 21st, 2009 - 12:06 am

Every thing that Fox News shows is FACT. They show VIDEOS in the Peoples OWN WORDS IN FRONT OF VIDEO CAMERAS spouting about how they LOVE Communist Dictators and how America should EMBRACE Socialism, about how the FREE MARKET and Capitalism are Dead. Even MSNBC Journalist…er, Reporters…er, Commentators (That’s It) stated that Capitalism was Dead shortly after Obama got Elected. Look for a Cartoon call “Make Mine Freedom” made in the 1940s by Harding University at the Internet Archives. It warns that we will loose our freedom by Embracing Communism and Lays out what Obama is doing to this country with the Unions and Government Control or our Industries. It even mentions Racism being used as a weapon. They were very astute in the 40s. Funny how FOX showing Video of them is False information. Out of Context my Behind. Glen Beck should play that cartoon on his Show.

Pat   October 21st, 2009 - 12:19 am

Catch Glenn Beck’s new “watch dog” named Press? A cute little thing with no bite. Apt name Press, fitting for the little lap dogs supporting Obama all the way…

Oakley   October 21st, 2009 - 12:49 am

This administration is so arrogant that they think they are above any criticism. Just like any leftists, they are smarter, know better than you, are so altruistic and perfect that they couldn’t possibly be wrong…

But they are wrong on almost every level. Wrong by the constitution and wrong by the people.

Only the truth will stand. All the lies, deception, obfuscation, manipulation and outright tyranny will not stand the light of the truth. They are and will be further EXPOSED for the naked Marxists they are.

They are deathly afraid of being exposed by the truth and are trying everything to avoid it, including slapping the duct tape on their critics mouths.

twoX4   October 21st, 2009 - 7:03 am

Great comment Four. I agree that the more people who check out Fox news will stay there. They will see what they have never seen before. Real reporting. They are sure going to get an education. I just hope it wakes up all the Kool Aid drinkers before we get too much further down this comunistic socialistic road. What happened to our country? Are we so hungry for a hand out that we can’t see that those who scramble for that handout are sentencing themselves to a nothing life? Is getting out and working and getting ahead for a better life too hard? Do you want to be dumbed down forever. Never to have anything? Only rich folks hire. You are alienating all those folks. We are just going to push more businesses overseas. The media is lying to you. We need health care reform but not government pushing their brand of health care down our throats. Wise up before it’s too late.

BobPDX   October 21st, 2009 - 9:20 am

Listen up folks. Fox news is our main source of the truth.

The Obama ilk is full of lies, misrepresentations and general hatred for America.

As for A. Dunn and Blume, we hear you loud and clear about your love for Mao. But why do you keep bringing up things like the political change somtimes has to include “killing 20 million people and at the barrell of a gun”?

For the record, I am a slightly to the right moderate who has guns and I would never consider using them on another person, ever!

Are you saying you would do this.

Of course in every definition of communism there is that pesky little chapter that states, ” It is necessary to create a state sponsored terrorism where examples can be made of those who don’t get in line”. This includes coming to your house, beatings, and yes killing of innocent people.

Anita, you and your ilk are not going to take us to the other side.

Zina   October 21st, 2009 - 9:36 am

James – you ask, “And how did Fox like being patted on the head by the Whitehouse when Bush was feeding them
their talking points?” Let me ask you something? Did Bush ever say that msnbc, cnn, abc, cbs weren’t news,
or wage an all out attack on them? As much as Bush was villified by the left, I never heard him respond to it.
Sometimes I wished that he had, but then again, he has way, way more class than Obama and his minions.

cooperscopy   October 21st, 2009 - 11:08 am

It a little un-settling that the other media outlets don’t mind being patted on the head by the White House. I watched Axelrod on This Week say that “We aren’t going treat Fox as a news organization,” and he told Stephie you should do the same. A shot across the bow. In other words you better not pick up and run with stories that originate from Fox. Guess what, Stephie didn’t even challenge that premise, which is frightening. The whole media except for Fox Talk radio and the blogs are in the tank for the messiah…http://cooperscopy.blogspot.com/

adam   October 21st, 2009 - 11:24 am

Gotta love Glenn Beck! LOL!

Desiree   October 21st, 2009 - 12:04 pm

Fox News –

Before beginning your broadcast of any news program or opinion show, please play the clip of Hillary Clinton and her rant –

“I’m sick and tired of people who say that if you debate and disagree with this administration, somehow you’re not patriotic. We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.”

Just keep playing this over and over again.

Jim   October 21st, 2009 - 1:20 pm

Brit Hume is a highly under rated news figure in our country. He is and always has spoke his mind and has never waffled. The new Republican President in 2012 needs to find a spot in his/her cabinet for him.

pepito cojones   October 22nd, 2009 - 10:32 pm

Good boy James, you remind me of the wussies of the Liberal left media.
