How Big Was the Crowd? Time Lapse Video Shows ‘Magnitude of the Rally’

The New York Times: the magnitude of the rally took the authorities by surprise, with throngs of people streaming from the White House to Capitol Hill for more than three hours.

Hot Air: ? I’ve seen numbers ranging from 50,000 on the low end (from David Shuster, natch) up to “a healthy six figures” from Reason’s Matt Welch on up to the two million figure cited by the boss earlier this morning, which ABC insists it never reported. As of a few hours ago, D.C. police were refusing to make any estimates but ABC got some unspecified city officials on the record claiming there 60,000 to 75,000 people there. Any other numbers floating around?

it was a great day for patriots!

Especially after the anniversary of 9/11 yesterday and it’s somber memory of the terrorist attack that took place that day by Saudi “radical” Islamic terrorists declaring war on America and it’s citizens!

But let me say one thing in a negative vein. I was rather disappointed in the coverage in Washington and other cities around the country by Glen Beck today.

First, I expected him to be in Washington himself with the people! When he wasn’t there, I certainly was disappointed, but it was probably understandable due to security reasons on his behalf.

But during the coverage I was expecting to hear more from you
”real” Americans out there!

I saw too much of Glen and not enough of you! I wanted to hear you! I wanted to hear why you got involved!

There were some interviews scattered throughout the the 2-3 hrs he was on
but it wasn’t enough of what I wanted to see and hear! Every time Griff interviewed someone in the crowd
he always made sure and stir up the crowd to say something to Glen about how they loved him, appreciated him and yada
yada
yada!

Enough already! Glen is not the story. Glen is doing a great job as many others are in revealing the truths of deception. But he isn’t doing it alone? America
you are the ones that are searching for truths and spreading it when you do! You get just as much credit as Glen!

I love Glen and appreciate the work of his whole staff! But Glen don’t let it go to your head

She is a self-employed business owner, as was her deceased husband. You would like to believe this group, and others across America today, were what you claim then you could continue to keep your uninformed heads buried in the sand. Then, as we are all marched off to the gas chambers, you can scream from your ignorant mouths, “why didn’t someone warn me this would happen????” I have met these people, formed strategies with them, organized with them, emailed them, etc. They are professional business people, doctors, nurses, who are well informed, well educated, seek the truth, pay attention to history and care enough about their children, families, freedom, and country to refuse to let this group of corrupt people in the government take it all away from them.

It is the poor who surround Obama. They believe his lies, and the lies of those who follow Obama. Just got home from DC. I can attest to all that the crowd was huge!
Several times they annoucnced that the parks department said 1.5 million and we spoke to
several guards that said that too. There was no media in attendance. I didn’t even see
a Fox camera. We did see a couple of helicopters going over, but haven’t seen any shots
that might have been taken from them.
No one paid us to go! In fact my husband and I paid 120 to ride a bus over 6 hours one way
along with
400 others from our home town. I really can’t believe that no one can understand that just
maybe there are people who care about the future of this country and care enough to go stand
for 9 hours with no one selling food and very few portajohns. No one complained, no one got
angry, no one cursed and amazingly when they left there was very little litter left behind.
Why is it that if we manage to find a way to get together we are paid flunkies but when
Acorn people gather to support Obama they came from the goodness of their hearts?
The people on our bus ranged in age from 7 to 80. We had black and white, rich and poor,
college educated and barely educated. We were a cross section of this country.
No one posted an ad on Craig’s list to find people to come. I hope next year we can do it
again and have 5 million in attendance.

DC police now estimate the grass root protest north of 1.2 million attendees. Other sources put the number closer to 2 million. Either way, this is a protest that has been long overdue. For years we’ve had protesters marching for what they can get from government. The tone always anti-American and selfish. At this event, they chanted “USA”, “No more lies”, “Tell the truth.” and “hands out of our pockets.” They were not hyphenate Americans, these folk were just that–folk. Refreshing.

To Eliza W and the comment about the 337 buses. People came from all 50 states at their own expense. The folks PAID for their tickets out of their pockets. My sisters came down in one of 7 buses out of Pittsburgh. It cost them $53 each. I don’t know how CNN could have come up with 100-unless they looked inside the local Starbucks. I was there…please don’t call me a liar. Washington was packed from the Capital to the Washington Monument-1.1 miles. I was there. A police woman said that they were told to expect 10,000 or so and they were totally unprepared for the crowd. The march was supposed to start at 11:30 and it began at 10:10 because the area (Pennsylvania Ave and all feeder streets) were @ full capacity.It was about 2 when I spoke to her and she said they were estimating about a million. Stay in disbelief if you choose.

We were at the march yesterday. It was peaceful, polite and fun.
There were people there from all walks of life in the United States. There were people referring to themselves as Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, Independants and former Republicans and Democrats. All of the people there were worried about the country and the future.
There were people from all the states represented. They were from rural as well as urban/suburban areas. There were construction workers, factory workers, teachers, professionals and many retired people.
Everyone there came at their own expense. There were people wearing ballcaps and fedora style hats. There were people without hats.
Sorry to disappoint but there were no corn dogs or funnel cakes. There was one very enterprising, smart entrepenour selling soft pretzels right in the middle of Pennsylvania Ave. and he was doing a very brisk business.
Disparaging people from any group of states is wrong. There are both white and black, Democrat, Republican and Independant, educated and uneducated in all of our wonderful states.
Making theatening statements suggesting violence is not helpful. The very problem in our country today is people are rejecting the right of the people disagreeing with them to have their opinion. This is the right we have from the Constitution. People have the right to express their opinions even if they are factually incorrect or have no actual basis in truth at all.
If violence does come to this country, there will be much death, loss and suffering to everyone in this country before it is over. Please resolve our differences lawfully and peacefully. Work within the powers given to the people by the Constitution. The Constitution was made to protect us from the Government. Protecting the Constitution will protect us all.

You can call the tea party goers what you want, but its painfully obvious that people don’t want what you and Obama are selling. And I’m not talking just health care, but the whole package. The White House’s refused to recognize the rally is their typical way of dismissing the opposition. If it had been a rally organized by ACORN or SEIU, the White House would have interrupted prime time TV praising it with a news conference. Mr. Obmama, you can’t WISH it away. It’s here to stay.

Ms. Jones, I would recommend that you get all the use you can out of your Obama t-shirt, because very soon you won’t be able to walk the streets wearing it.

Will you people please start to spell Glenn Beck’s name correctly? Glenn’s name is spelled with a double N. I do appreciate the fact that you are listening, and are fans, but you really need to pay more attention.

Socialism has been eliminated from our great country! No more Amtrak, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Tennessee Valley Authority, crop or commidity subsidies. The financial institutions and auto makers must immediately return taxpayer bailouts and go out of business as they should have done. The death panels are gone, concentration camps are being dismantled, siezed weapons being returned, all troops returning from overseas, conservative talk show hosts are again safe from the fairness doctrine, all illegal aliens have been ousted, the size of government is diminished and federal spending vastly reduced.

The Tea Party rally today marked Main Street America’s declaration that we own both our daily life and the destiny of our progeny. This was a beginning, the chess board has been set, and average Americans have made the counter move to Obama’s initial strategy of marginalizing our voice. It is, again, Obama’s move.
The thing that keeps me up at night is that he has very little to lose, while we have everything. By both our constitution and our courts his days are limited while we the people will bear the mark of his passage.
We, as a group – heartland democrats, feisty libertarians, free thinking independents and dog-eared republicans have shown that we want a peaceful and respectful dialogue through this march. We’ve said we expect to be listened to – and we’ve again exerted our position as the customer and the government as servant.
Yet what worries me is what will we do when – not if, when – Obama and the current administration push back with a power play – because I don’t believe this administration will accept the servant’s role. Will we rally when it hurts? Will we fight when it exacts a cost? Will the people stand?

Some will duel to the death as our founding fathers did; and, what established this GREAT nation we currently have – and, hopefully, get to keep. Some, will drop by the way side, just as some seeds fell on fertile ground and others died. That is why it is EXTREMELY important that those of us who are strong and in for the duration keep this in front of those that are weaker and can waiver keeping them engaged, pumped up, informed, educated, enlightened. We cannot let up for one moment, not one fleeting second. Talk to anyone who will listen, pass out literature, go to meet-ups in your area, host a website, do anything and everything within your means and draw in everyone you can. Look at how many people who were not previously politically involved are finally turning off their TVs, getting off their couches, out of their houses, attending TEA Parties, forming groups, sticking together, and not giving up. We must support all who do and know we do not stand alone.

We are only as strong as the weakest link.

It still amazes me how many Obama supporters I meet that totally refuse to dicuss what they believe he has actually done well since taking office. Not one single person will discuss this topic. Seems that it is obvious that a large majority of “hopefuls” voted for him and believed this socialist liar. I mean just start looking at the recent historical facts about what he said he would do and what he actually did.

1. Transparency: Not a chance…backdoor politics done late at night. Chicago style push.
2. No lobbyist hired: Over 15 just after he was elected.
3. No ear marks under his watch: Your kidding me. $787 Billion dollars of ear marks. Fools.
4. Bills posted on the internet: They not only didn’t post them. No one even read them.

I was there. The 2 million figure is definitely close. March wasn’t supposed to start till around 11am but the Freedom Plaza wouldn’t hold everyone. I had heard Friday that there were nearly 4500 buses chartered to DC that day. At 50 people each that is 225000 people. And doesn’t cover planes, trains and autos. I also heard about 500 motorcycle escorted one bus group in.

It’s about protesting the power grabbing, union loving, socialist ideology that prevails in this administration. What this really is about is the federal government pitting taxpayers against those who pay little or no taxes at all,or even worse they get federal government handouts in the way of tax credits.Anyone who knows the facts about our government and how it was set up knows the federal gov is reaching way past its authority to take over banks, businesses and now tring to take over health care which would bring in trillions of dollars for the fed gov which gives them more power and control over the people and the states.Since when does the fed gov manage anything efficiently,social security is broke and medicare is almost broke we have to look at the facts.Our national debt is equal to each person[not family] in the usa being in debt to the fed gov of about 200,000 dollars,and thats before we pass health care reform,it has to stop are our country will go bankrupt,thats the facts.

I attended this rally. It was my 5th march in DC and I have never witnessed anything like it. There were over 1 million citizens there from all walks of life. I met folks from San Diego, Missouri, New York even . . . we were not red necks, nor were we “racist or measly.” All age groups and ethnic groups were represented. When trying to debate, even through an online forum, it is best to discuss issues rather than insult individuals. This rally represented a taxpayer base that is genuinely concerned for the liberties our Constitution lays out as the standard of law. U.S. citizens have enjoyed unsurpassed individual liberty more than any other nation in the world. That kind of liberty requires personal responsibility and self-government from each citizen with a limited civil government as laid out in the Constitution. While America’s greatest sin and horrifying choice to enslave one group of people because of their skin color and greed is a part of our history, it is in the PAST. The Constitution guarantees equal opportunity under the law for all. That is what this rally was about. The fact of the matter is, even if this Congress and the Administration are able to push through all of their policies, things will not be any more equal. I thought history had already shown us that “equalizing” economics is a farce. You will always have an elite class, you will always have poverty. The best hope is to have a strong middle class that aspires to climb and inspires others to overcome. The group at this rally understands a simple, tried and true principle: you never raise one group up by tearing another group down. The middle class is in jeopardy of being eliminated if this Congress and Administration succeed. I hope every citizen no matter what their political leaning is can work together in getting rid of the corruption in DC, with big business and special interest groups. We have a common problem and it is not each other.
