Every President since Harry Truman has talked about it, and the most powerful and experienced lobbyists in Washington stand in the way.
But every day we don’t act, Americans watch their premiums rise three times faster than wages, small businesses and families are pushed towards bankruptcy, and 14,000 people lose their coverage entirely. The cost of inaction is simply too much for the people of this nation to bear.

It will require time, and hard work, and there will be days when we don’t know if we have anything more to give. But there comes a moment when we all have to choose between doing what’s easy, and doing what’s right.

For the record, the Erie Canal was paid for by the state of New York. Then-President Thomas Jefferson refused to pay anything for it. As it turns out, it made money for the state that paid for it, but the Federal Government didn’t build it.
And health care is an ongoing project, not a finite project like building a canal. So the comparison isn’t really accurate that way, either.
President Obama rode to the White House on the gigantic lie that 95% of us can have a free lunch every day. All we have to do is incrase taxes on the 5% Barry and friends define as wealthy. And pro-life and anti-war is another example of the moral relativism that plagues small minds. Or you didn’t know that people volunteer go to war, where as babies do not volunteer to be aborted. Having life is a right, how one lives their life is up to them. And no one should be obligated to pay for the consequences of someone else’s choices – part of the resistance to socialized medicine. You want health insurance? Get a job that offers it or pay for it yourself. Perhaps giving up your high-speed internet access would help cover that cost (not to mention make the net a happier place)

I like the Republicans health Plan., up to this point, all the GOP´s ideas have been for every American; “to set up a personal health care savings account, don´t get sick and die early”.
If the Administration and the Democrat majority in Congress have 1/2 a brain -what do they not understand about ‘WE DO NOT HAVE ANY MONEY’ – your stimulus (pork ladened bill) and your budget have eaten away at our monetary strength. Even if 95% of Americans approved of the bills in Congress now – there is no money with which to chase these socialistic policies.
Without a strong dollar our country’s strength is greatly diminished. Under Obama’s health care plan – we might have a lot of illegals and other poor people taken off Medicaid and placed on National Health Care Insurance – like shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic – but what is the difference when insurance companies might be forced to lower the policy rate on the 85% of us already covered – and our payroll and other taxes rise anywhere from 15% to 25% -and the quality of our health care drops to the level of a third world country. A sensible financially sound policy is not in the offering – THAT IS WHY WE THE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT IT SHOVED DOWN OUR THROATS.
The Dems feel if most American voters were stupid enough to accept Obama with all his baggage as a viable candidate – then we will accept anything – BUT AMERICANS ARE WAKING UP – A LITTLE LATE BUT NEVER THE LESS – BETTER LATE THAN NEVER.

Bradley, why does everything have to be black or white with you guys? None of these people are denying that our healthcare system needs to be reformed in order to make it more affordable to everyone, but there are much better options out there than turning over 1/7th of our economy, our privacy, our personal medical records, and the ability to CHOOSE what kind of treatment, where we get treated, and by whom we get treated to the government. Just because a minority of our population can’t take care of themselves doesn’t mean the rest of us should be forced to let the government make those kind of important decisions for us. Tort reform and more competition between insurance companies would greatly reduce the cost of healthcare, but according to Obama and the Dems, THEIR way is the ONLY way. That’s my complaint.
Oh yeah, to dispute your other points: People WILL die if this plan gets passed because they’ll be given a PILL for their end of life treatment because it will be CHEAPER…that will far outweight any lives that are lost due to Conservatives standing up against a power hungry, micromanaging, idealistic government. If you have love ones you care about you better think twice about this health care bill. Just because they tell you something is free does not mean it is good. The boat ride they offered the slaves from africa was free but it didnt turn out so good. Nothing in life is ever free. someone somewhere is paying for it and you can bet that it is not our congressmen that will be paying for it. If you tax the rich guess what happens, they say, you know now I cant hire that extra help I wanted to hire. I have never had a job from a poor man. My husband and I and our family live on a paycheck to paycheck basis. It is ever harder to pay for groceries and thing we need to live but I guess a lot of people will be living on less if this government continues to give everything away to people who are not willing get off of it and get a job.

Extreme cases requiring extraordinary resources could be determined to be too expensive or the baby might have to wait too long for rationed care. You imagine perfect care for all that still that won’t exist. Nobody is “to blame” because there are children with cancer, and in fact, excellent charitable hospitals exist today for just such cases as babies with cancer. Ever contribute to St. Jude’s or Children’s Miracle Network? My guess is you haven’t since you seem to not know of their work. These fine institutions won’t exist when mediocre government healthcare slowly chokes them out of resources.

People weren’t forced to use the Erie Canal. They could choose to use the competing railroad or other means of overland travel.
The Erie Canal is now obsolete and used almost exclusively for recreation.

The Erie Canal!!! Really? Not to bore the congressman with the facts, but…after 7 million dollars the canal was completed in 1825. A railroad capable of doing the same job at a fraction of the cost was completed in 1831. While the tracks of the railroad required nominal maintainence, the canal underwent two more major renovations. In other words it was built with little thought or consideration for the future. The railroads were forbidden by the U.S. govt from transporting cargo since they could do it cheaper and faster and the gov’t made money from tolls and taxes from the canal. They eventually had to abandon this law since the canal generally was frozen for 5 months of the year and couldn’t be used. Conclusion: goverment spent too much for a program that was obsolete soon after it was implemented. To correct this they strangled private industry and the American taxpayer by forcing an additional cost for goods and services rendered. Now this clown calls it a raving success and uses it as an example of how big gov’t gets things done. Gee the playbook still hasn’t changed for almost 200 years.

The only valid housing statistic relating to the economy is median home sale price, Which is way down. If home prices stay flat, that reflects those willing to buy coupled with the ability to sell their home. If prices are flat, the economy is flat.
And they’ll tout the drop in jobless claims, which will be down to about 425,000 as a good thing. The problem is of course as more people lose their jobs, there remain less jobs to lose. So even if you lose the same percentage with each passing month, the jobs lost is a smaller number but still the same rate. Plus the Obamacons will try to compare job loss rates with the Bush years, without telling you that monthy job loss numbers are worse now, BECAUSE THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT NOW THERE ARE NO NEW JOBS.

The Erie Canal ………. was not built by the federal government. If I am not mistaken it was built by the Colonial Government of New York.

This meme of “we inherited this mess” “it’s Bushes Fault” “housing starts up since Bush left office” (WTF??) is beyond old. These guys are coming out and blatantly saying that anything Bush did was bad and everything they do is good or designed to fix all the badness. So, just to clear the air about all this “Bush’s fault” crap — Bush NEVER had a majority in the Senate for more than three minutes. Jim Jeffords jumped ship – and it became a whopping 50-49-1 majority for all of about two years. And to add to this issue the three “republican” senators that nearly always bucked their party and voted with the dems (Snowe, Spector and Chafee). Hell, Chafee even left to become an “independent” but then he lost — to a democrat.
Anyways, point is, Bush could do very little – and the things he did get through had to be bipartisan – in other words, both the dems and republicans had a hand in this. DDoes this make Bush out to be a saint – hell no – I voted for the guy and he did things I totally disagreed with. Also, please note that the spending spree really kicked into gear in 2007 and 2008 – when the dems took back control of congress.
It boils down to this. If you are blindly listening to your elected leaders, be they Republican or Democrat then you are a fool. But, if you are actually reading this bill and understanding what is in it – well, then – you are an informed electorate and by God, those people on the hill are afraid of you. That is why they are either trying to shut you up or merely look down their noses at you hoping to intimidate you.

Dems and their liberal media droids will never mention that Bush had 4.5% unemployment and a record setting stock market that reached 14,000+. Those were the good years before Dems took over congress. Since then, it’s been all down hill, except the deficit, which has quadrupled in Obama’s first 6 months, and forecloseures that are now skyrocketing. The Erie Canal was originally funded by the US Congress. But James Monroe thought it was unconstitutional and vetoed the bill.
So instead the NY State legislature laid out the funds and used tolls on the canal to pay for it.
Therefore, what House Majority Leader Hoyer MUST be saying by comparing it to the Erie Canal is that any legislation by Congress regarding powers not enumerated by the Constitution should be vetoed, and the states should pay for this with user money…that is…by co-pays and doctors’ bills.

They were just upstanding citizens venting their concerns and frustrations. When it is concerns and frustrations that are against some liberal policy or idea or what Obama wants, the people are planted and an angry mob. Don’t I remember that ACORN people were bussed to protest at the homes of executives getting big bonuses? There are some very good parts to the Obama-Pelosi health plan? 1) Old people will get a death pill when they get too sick. This is a good thing. Life is exciting, death is peaceful, it is the nasty part in between that needs to be eliminated. 2) All abortions will be paid for by the government. This is a 100% effective method of birth control and will remove any need for responsibility from the recipient. 3) The rich people will have to pay some crushing taxes that will reduce their standard of living but that will be all right if we can only figure out how to get jobs from poor people.
This congressman is out of touch with reality. He was caught in two lies that I noticed. Senior citizens they have taken your votes for granted. Vote these people, democrats and republicans alike, out of office. For the people and by the people, the constitution points well to this point. It’s great to see so many Democrats coming to see the light on Obama, the Kenyan/American “president”. Welcome aboard! Kudos to this Tea Party patriot as well.
I believe what must be done, that is if we still have a country next year (Lord, please hear our prayers), is vote out ALL Democrats (maybe asking a couple conservative ones like Bright & Griffith of Alabama to switch sides) and get the GOP in control of at least one house. I’m anything but a shill for the GOP (I consider myself a Constitutionalist) but at least most Republicans doesn’t embrace full blown socialism. We need some sanity in at least one chamber to stabilize things.
Then after that, we need to get term limits in place and move out the lifetime Republicans in the 2012 primaries (also hopefully moving out more Democrats that weren’t excised in the 2010 election) with some fresh GOP blood. When Obama refused to show his Birth Certificate and other documents I got suspicious and I did my own investigation on his BC:
Obama’s Birth Certificate presents the following anomalies:
a.- It has no State Of Hawaii Seal.
b.- It has no signature
c.- It has no crease. All Hawaiian BC’s are mailed and are hence creased.
d.- Obama’s BC doesn’t tells us who filed it.
e.- Obama’s BC was filed the same day Barack was born. By whom?
f.- Obama’s BC doesn’t tell us what Hospital was he born in. Most Hawaiian BC’s say so clearly.
g.- Obama’s BC doesn’t mention the Name of the doctor who delivered baby Barack. 99% of Hawaii BC’s clearly say so.
Conclusion: OBAMA’S BC IS 100% FAKE AND THIS MAN MUST SHOW not only his Birth Certificate but all his personal ID documents for public inspection OR STEP DOWN IMMEDIATELY .

I don’t know if bama is a citizen or not. If he is, why doesn’t he show his BC? He should have never been inaugurated without is shown – An independant investigation should be made of not only bama but everyone involved in the inauguration.
