I have lost all respect for Pastor Warren. He helped raise a false idol, and now we all are paying the price.

Terry   November 29th, 2009 - 4:32 pm

Oh good, he supports the false dichotomy of the two sell-out parties. You can see the breadth of his political acumen with that statement. Republicans and Democrats are run by the same cabal.

frankly   November 29th, 2009 - 4:34 pm

How did he help raise a false idol”? Anyone paying attention should have understood who Obama was during the Q&A Warren had with both candidates. I didn’t need to learn anything else about Obama after that weekend to know that he was not an honest man and could not be trusted.

Faith   November 29th, 2009 - 4:44 pm

Rick Warren keeps on re-defining until there is nothing left to define. This is a dangerous and deceptive ploy to confuse and deceive. The Left has been doing this for years with “relative” thinking until we cannot distinguish what truth is. The whole idea is to keep re-defining a “truth” until it has taken on a whole new meaning- then that meaning is useless because it was never the “truth” to begin with. Rick Warren is the master at tagging on new labels and hoping they will stick, but I feel that can get real tiring, real quick for many people. Then people will get angry and frustrated and either hopefully discover the real truth which is in God’s Word and not some purpose driven drivel or they will leave Christianity for good and may even get hostile towards it.

Poor Rick,

Could not answer a question straight out….He has a future in politics.

M.Minnesota   November 29th, 2009 - 4:59 pm

Pastor Warren,
The only way that we can have “Common Ground” on the issue of abortion is if each state is allowed to be a “labratory of Democracy” that the Founders intended. the California Legistlature passed a law stating that even if the Supreme Court brings Roe v. Wade back to the States to decide, California will uphold Roe v. Wade. This is totally within the state of California’s right to say so.(Your State, Pastor Warren) People who do not want Roe v. Wade sent back to the states do not like the Science of Labratories of Democaracy as our founders did. They do not want “dialouge” and better practices each state will have to see what happens with thier decision and if they have positive results, one way or the other, other states can adopt thier practices. The left Luvs Science doesn’t it? Except when you have those clear newfangled color 3D ultrasounds. Common Ground = Back to the States it is the only way for dialouge to happen. Don’t kid yourself. Don’t be disengenous.

Blah, blah, just keep the camera on me. Fame causes mental illness. Just keep the camera on me. I am an important man. What I believe is that you should just keep the camera on me. See me, hear me, hear me…see me. This blathermeister has a following?

Brian   November 29th, 2009 - 5:08 pm

RICK WARREN IS A JOKE.. HE’S GOT NO GALL, NO GUTS, NO… NOTHING ELSE. HE STANDS FOR HIMSELF AND HIMSELF ALONE… NOT CHRIST, NOT THE BIBLE, NOT THE CHURCH… HIMSELF. A REAL FAKE!!!

Reality   November 29th, 2009 - 5:13 pm

Caution: When Warren says “We need to…..”, he is not talking about the government. He is talking about the body of Christ. Government continues to get it wrong.

EEuro   November 29th, 2009 - 5:35 pm

Rick is a smart man, he made millions just like Hagee, he is a businessman.

mortardad   November 29th, 2009 - 5:41 pm

What a fur-ball. Can I state the obvious, between those who favor abortion on demand like Barack Obama and those that consider all human life to be worth protecting, there is no common ground. It is like Obama’s lunatic attempt to find common ground with Amadinejad He wants us to die because we are infidels and we desire to continue to live. There is no middle ground unless we convert en masse to Islam and elect Obama our new Ayatolla.

Tiernanlaw   November 29th, 2009 - 5:41 pm

Cop Out!

There are moral issues concerning the “left” & “right” and thier policies

These issues have implications in life.

He says he hopes the President and Congess succeeds? AT WHAT? Making the public pay for abortions? Taking away our freedom? Throwing our military under the Bus? What does he want them to succeed at?

A man of God should have some more moral courage and say what he believes is right and wrong.

I wonder, had more Chrisitans and church leaders listened to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, and took his moral stand when they could, would Hitler have been able to come to absolute power? I dont think so.

Rick Warran has an obligation to say what evils are done against God’s word!

Kek   November 29th, 2009 - 6:09 pm

Anyone notice Warren’s mustache? Looks a lot like George Michael’s doesn’t it? Kind of makes you wonder if there isn’t a “coming out” story from the paster.

Josh   November 29th, 2009 - 6:10 pm

Excuses… Excuses… if Obama should of not run for the office of president if he could not handle the issues.. Whatever Obama says it is just vaporous talk.. Eliquent words spoken with no subtance.. Communist , dopper diapper babies.. what do you expect from a Carl Max follower… As the Reverend Rite has spoke ” our chickens have come home to roost”..

Jocko   November 29th, 2009 - 6:11 pm

What happened to the Constitution?
The United States is a country, not a church. You don’t go paging through the bible to see if we should have
Government Healthcare. Dick Warren should keep his ignorant mouth shut.

EEuro   November 29th, 2009 - 6:31 pm

Rick Warren would not hesitate to convert to Islam if he can make a few millions.

Imam Rick Warren does not sound too bad.

Eileen for Freedom/Liberty   November 29th, 2009 - 6:50 pm

America…unfortunately…there are leaders in every religion that are not truly bold in their faith! And there are even those who are really “wolves in sheep’s cloth”! I do not think Pastor Warren is either of these.

But I would easily call him a…moderate…”fence sitter” of the faith trying not to fall off of the fence when asked questions they do not want to answer because it would not be “politically correct”!

There are Priests who give communion to those who openly express that aborting of babies in the womb is okay…

There are those who do not want to take a biblical stand so not to cross the line between church and state…

They are everywhere!

My Holy Scriptures tell me…that GOD said…”I would rather you be “hot” or “cold” than “lukewarm”! That relates to not only Shepherds of the faith, but those that profess the faith!

That means if you believe in Almighty GOD and the birth, death and resurrection of HIS only begotten son, Jesus Christ, than you would not falter in speaking on behalf of GOD’s teachings and HIS word no matter what the cost or what is politically correct.

GOD tells us to be ready to give an answer to the hope that is within is…always!

In Pastor Warren’s defense…he is doing what he is required to do as a Christian…pray for those in authority!

So to all of us…do not be mediocre in your commitment to Christ…you must be “on fire” for the work of GOD and the fulfilling of HIS teachings!

Do not be a moderate “fence sitting” believer or leader…trying not to offend!

That doesn’t mean to be militant in your faith…but strong in your beliefs that what you know and have experienced is true.

As so clearly defined in Holy Scriptures…”I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that HE is able to keep that which I have committed unto HIM against that day”!

I know…that I know…that I know…that Jesus Christ is my Savior and my coming King!

Maranatha!

IMPEACHMENT OR THE ‘ORIGINAL’ KENYAN BIRTH CERTIFICATE…IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME!

frankly   November 29th, 2009 - 6:56 pm

Gosh! Some people got their panties all in a wad because Rick Warren didn’t validate their own political views.

First of all Rick Warren is not a politician. He is a pastor. Don’t expect him to espouse political ideology because his purpose is for something much higher than whether the left or right is winning in the political arena.

woody   November 29th, 2009 - 7:42 pm

Abortion is no more a states rights’ issue than was slavery. If the Constitution does not apply to the unborn, it does not apply to anyone.

philly jim   November 29th, 2009 - 8:08 pm

im a conservative christian and dont have a problem with what Warren said…all the protesting and name calling since Roe V wade had accomplished nothing, while millions of babies continue to be slaughtered…the common ground that needs to occur is for the pro-death crowd to agree that abortion is a horrible thing that we as a society should do everything possible to prevent….as warren said, they make themselves feel better by using that “we want abortion to be rare” lingo all the time, but that is never backed up with any action…
the compromise needs to come from the left, to allow for the common ground to work together to reduce and eventually eliminate abortion, whether its legal or not

Faith   November 29th, 2009 - 8:11 pm

Response to Frankly

You are right he is a pastor and a pastor is obligated by Scripture to stand for the truth of God’s Word not to the world. He is suppose to stand up for the oppressed, orphans, and widows. At least that is what my Bible says.

Woody (not the woody above)   November 29th, 2009 - 8:17 pm

Jesus took sides against evil, but Rick refuses to take sides on anything. Good job, Rick.

frankly stupid   November 29th, 2009 - 9:02 pm

To Frankly,

Unfortunately Rick Warren put himself into politics when he decided to have your now President and McCain to talk “POLITICS” in his church… So I guess you can say people have the right to get their ‘panties all in a wad’ as you put it.. And one more thing, “meet the press” is as political as you get.

testicular man   November 29th, 2009 - 9:26 pm

Who cares what this fat little doofus of a preacher thinks or says! He reminds me of the other useful idiots you know, Jackson & Sharpton, that inject themselves in to the political scenes…

SanFranciscoGo   November 29th, 2009 - 10:09 pm

Warren has a classic case of “Pumpkin Pie on the Brain” syndrome. Unfortunately Warren doesn’t bring anything to the table and really doesn’t recognize who has brought something to the table and the person he thinks that Has brought something to the table (Obama), has brought something to the table but it is spoiled and extremely rotten. Of course Obama says what he has brought to the table is fresh, well, that is a LIE, even America’s Pilgrims knew that “Socialism” was a failure 200 years before that guy Karl Marx came up with “his” “brilliant idea”, too bad Marx did not study American History, if so, Marx may have written something more realistic.

RobbieK   November 30th, 2009 - 12:49 am

Rick Warren is what is called a “Feel Good” pastor. He doesn’t preach that the “wages of sin is death” gospel. No, he preaches strictly that “Jesus Loves You” and that “Life is hard, but hey, it’s okay to be yourself”. No wonder he is so secular & confused. Rick Warren is extremely Humanistic & really isn’t much better than the philosophy of L. Ron Hubbard’s “Dianetics”. Want to hear a good pastor? Listen to Pastor Charles Manning. Manning is like the preachers of old and extremely likeable.

Bribery or Politics?
If the healthcare legislation is so GREAT, why are the Democrats voting on it in the dark of night on a Saturday night? Why are they not presenting the facts of the bill to the American people? Is it because the numbers do not add up? The Democrats say that there is a need to pass this legislation today because thousands of people are dying because of the lack of healthcare. Yet the benefits do not go into effect until 4 years from now, so by their calculations are they going to let thousands more of Americans die? Why do they want to put people in jail for not wanting to buy health insurance? Would that even be constitutional? Why do they have to bribe certain Senators in order to get them to vote for it? Is Eric Holder going to investigate this bribe? Will the news media begin doing their job and expose this fraud? Why is it that politicians say one thing but do another, Joe Liebermann? Will the American people stand up and be heard to stop this monstrosity? These are just some questions that should be answered before proceeding with this legislation.

frankly   November 30th, 2009 - 8:47 am

To frankly stupid :
Go back and look at the questions that were asked of Obama and Mccain. They were not at all political questions.

Calling the aborting of 46 million Americans a holocaust is a strong statement against abortion. But some people are so upset that he didn’t criticize universal health care that they missed that part.

If you’re a Christian, you need to check yourself that you are not putting politics and winning a political argument above God. Or do you think that God only loves Republicans?

conservativeandproud   November 30th, 2009 - 9:08 am

RW certainly doesn’t speak for Christians. Don’t know why he is even asked for his opinion on anything. Go back to your followers at Saddleback, Rick, and don’t pretend to speak for me!

BTW, your “book” is what 10 – 12 years old? How long are you going to fall back on your “book” before you return to His Book?

ro   November 30th, 2009 - 10:14 am

Listen, the pastor is getting paid by Democrats and Republicans. You seriously think he is going to pick a side? Religion is politics… politics are religion. What is surprising is to hear that people are surprised.

jemimah   November 30th, 2009 - 11:11 am

no mention of eternal life. Warren is just another jackleg preacher of the gospel.

kevin   November 30th, 2009 - 12:52 pm

Rick is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

jason   November 30th, 2009 - 1:08 pm

He thinks it’s a holocaust yet he wants to find common ground.
Show me where in the Bible God ever found “common ground” with Evil ?????

This is the seeker-sensitive social gospel that sends people to Hell.

Kris   November 30th, 2009 - 1:13 pm

“Speaking Up” for the disadvantaged and stealing from others to become the sole provider for the disadvantaged is two totally separate things, Pastor. If you advocate social welfare, you are advocating the government replacing God in people’s lives.

peter c   November 30th, 2009 - 4:21 pm

This man is a sell out to the Christian Faith…He can NOT find common ground with Evil and be a man of God…It just can’t happen.

He makes excuses for a Godless Marxist Blasphemer Obama…and then calls himself a Man of God?

He says he is against abortion….but supports Obama…a man who voted 4 times to deny medical help for babies who survived induced abortions!

This guy is a phony! He let Obama lie on his interview show…He never challenged Obama when he said >..It’s above my Pay Grade” when asked about When do Human Rights begin.

The only true Christian leader on this Planet…who IS the Vicar of Christ on Earth….Is the Roman Catholic Pope.

The Pope will not “Go along ..to Get along” when it comes to matters of Morality….God…LIFE.

This is why the Pope is h@ted by the Left…the Communists…The Liberals….The Marxists….the Democrats…Hollywood….Planned Parenthood…Gay Marriage supporters….Pro-Abortion groups….Liberal false churches…Secular Jews….phony Catholics…Islam….ACORN….SEIU….. Satanists….Obama!

If you want to know who a Man of God is? Look to see how many immoral enemies he has.

When the Church tells you not to do this…or not to do that…they are like a Father warning his children not to touch the stove…or run in traffic…because it leads to Pain! All Sin leads to pain.

So…please ignore this Warren…he will lead you down the path of appeasement to the “Evil One” the very same who tried to tempt Jesus Himself in the dessert 2000 years ago.

MotherRedDog   December 1st, 2009 - 12:22 am

Hey Rick, did you ever figure out if Obama still thinks it’s above his pay grade to determine when life begins. It should be a pre-requisite for all pro abortion legislators, including president, to watch a few abortions. Maybe then they will be able to tell you when life begins.

Michael   December 1st, 2009 - 1:01 am

I actually thought that was a vwery good interview. For one I’m glad that a portion of Scripute was quoted on Meet the Press, how often does that happen? I also love that he came out and said publically he is pro life. Towards the end though it seems to sound like he’s suggesting that a role or THE of Government is to provide for people in their “whole life”. A classic mistake of so many Christians to believe that it is the role of a secular humanist institution, government, to take on the roles and responsiblities that God has given to the CHURCH to take care of. The same government that threw the Bible out of public schools……

bloodhound   December 2nd, 2009 - 7:16 am

Being a Conservative member of a Pentacostol church and a disabled Vet, I have always considered myself to be a soldier of the True God and Jesus. If something is Evil, you call it for what it is. Islam is Evil. Obama is Evil. If something is Evil, you stand against it, not stay silent.

I was on my death bed, family called in, the works, three diffent times and God would tell me that doctors were only human and that I was not going to die. I believed God over the doctors but everyone had thought I had lost it, went crazy. Well, five years later, from the last incident, I am here writing and feeling fantastic! God does Exist and He is not the enity the muslims worship.
