Street Racing is much more common that most people realize. In Milwaukee ( 1 AM – 4 AM every Sat. morning 10th-18th on Bruce St. ) the croud is always at the start line with just a few people at the finish. And this is one of three locations in Metro-Milwaukee where street races take place. Hell im 62 and its quite a thrill wipping some young bucks Cobra Mustang with my Vette Almost as much fun as SCCA SOLO II which is legal. If your a young guy and think you and your car are fast look into SCCA SOLO II Racing, let some of us old farts show you how its done…legally.

All of these deaths and injuries could have been avoided. Time and time again people get behind the wheel and do incredibly dumb things. I certainly hope this is a wake-up call for anyone contemplating this juvenile behavior, or choosing to be a spectator in the early morning hours – with your young child, no less?. Go home, spend time with your family, love your children. Teach your children.

Very sad.

did all that roadkill meat go to waste?

Well thats cool and all but this 61 year old was watching the race not driving in it. He was there with his 27 year old daughter and and very young grandchild. They were not at the start line but along the strip or at the end, now if that isnt dumb then I dont know what is.
besides that , going out and buying a fast car , getting in and gunning it takes very little skill or brains
anyone can do it.

doing it legally takes a little more work
and actually building a fast safe car takes know how and care. These redneck ijuts need to think a little more.

retards

The title on the video says “7 killed when street racer plows into crowd,” but that is misleading, since they don’t know whether this third driver was even involved with the race. He could have just been an unrelated drunk driver. I guess it’s easier to just blame the racing scene.

This was a big problem in the 50s, as well. Lots of kids killed or crippled for life in this sort of thing.

It why the NRHA was organized .. to give kids a place to race legally and safely.

Its really disheartening to see that your grandkids are as stupid as you were when you were young.

The gene pool is a bit cleaner tonight. Too bad the driver didn’t snuff it as well. Idiot people like this don’t need to be breathing my air.

Annoyed   February 17th, 2008 - 8:16 am

The Crown Vic driver was just going down the road like a normal person. The idiots that stood in the middle of the road in a cloud of smoke were the only ones who were at fault. This wasn’t a “racetrack” it was a highway! I don’t feel sorry for any of them. That’s 8 less idiots in the world.

K   February 17th, 2008 - 9:35 am

Annoyed — exactly.

What these idiots have done is not only sentence a bunch of people to death for the sake of illegal street racing, but they’ve now ALSO sentenced the poor driver of the crown victoria to feeling like a mass murderer for the rest of his/her life (if they have even the slightest conscience, which they probably do). And why? Just because he/she was driving down the road, a road that’s there to guess what..be driven on by the general public at any hour.

You’re not supposed to hang out on a public road like it’s got bleachers and a popcorn stand on it… (And let’s not forget there was a haze of smoke surrounding these ‘bright’ folks standing on the road.)

Go figure!

And how horrible. :(

IT is crazy how someone said ,”He liked going to the race track, watching races,” Courtney said. “It’s going to take a toll on my family for a long time.” Yes it is sad what happened. But hello that was a highway NOT a race track. When you go to these illegal racing events you should assume that something bad might happen. No one should have been standing in the road. The driver of the crown vic has to anticipate but who in the heck thinks that there are going to be people in the middle of the road?? This is just sad all the way around. 8 are dead and now a person who drove the crown vic has to live with this for the rest of his/her life.

This is why you don’t drag race on public highways. Do Darwin Awards go to group efforts, or is it just for individuals?

Why is it that 10 years ago that victims families would cry and plead give me time to grieve and now some are excited to give play by play? And please don’t complain about gas prices anymore! If you love wasting it…
