Hard to believe this man, and ambassador of his country, a member of the social elite of Haiti, felt compelled to comment on Pat Robertson’s words.
Thought the 700 Club was a rather obscure little show.

bitterweed   January 14th, 2010 - 9:27 am

Oh! To be so morally superior, Rachel..while you ‘make fun of him’. That statement ‘doesn’t compute’.

As for the ambassador..no denial of a ‘pact with the devil’? Just wants credit for saving the western hemispere..and lots of greenbacks..

***a rather obscure little show***

Robertson’s idiotic rant got two thousand comments here. Obammy’s stupidity rarely merits that!

Pssst, for the ignorant believer, you don’t own your soul.

The Creator of it does.

You can not barter what you don’t own!

END OF DISCUSSION.

When the idiot Robertson closes his eyes, and tells his idiot viewers what ailment someone is being healed from, in various locations, HE I$ LYING FOR DOLLAR$!

$top supporting his idiocy!

Yes, God heals, but He doesn’t do it in cahoots with the slimeball Robertson!

Madcow is an odious carpet-moungeing athiest… a totally rupugnant individual from a group of people that are totally hatefilled towards anything that is clean and decent in this world.

Don’t pay attention to anything this freak has to say, Mr. ambassador.

Ron   January 14th, 2010 - 9:46 am

Pat Roberston was wrong. Maybe Haiti can recover and this tragedy will rally its people to rebuild on its own. But having been to Haiti to provide aid and help in the past….. IT is a shit hole and the people seem not to really care about its condition nor correcting it when aide comes.

John   January 14th, 2010 - 9:46 am

I almost didn’t see the video, because Breitbart put a fukkin Disney commercial before it that went on for fukkin’ forever.

Hey Mr. Ambassador….Are you counting my tax dollars for your Swiss bank account already?

Making a deal with the devil is much the same as the lesbians, atheists, Communists and Marxists making a pact with their new found savior, Obama. If Haiti needs aid, let Obama, Pelosi and Reid donate their last year’s salaries to help them out. It would be a new experience with these DEMS – charitable contributions. And Madcow and Overthehillman might increase their ratings by donating their salaries in as well.

roger bannister   January 14th, 2010 - 10:06 am

Never thought I’d agree with Rachel Madcow. Goes to show you if you’re willing, you can find truth anywhere.

Some of you folks are abjectly blinded by your peculiar perspectives. Forget commenting on the parts of Pat Robertson’s statement that inflame you because of your lack of faith in a Christian God or your rabid adherence to secular humanism. Those beliefs or lack of beliefs are your choices to make or not as you see fit. Comment on THIS if you would: Pat Robertson pointed out that the island of Hispanola is split in half. One side is plagued by poverty, ignorance, political violence, and a marked inability to sustain itself reasonably, while the other side of the island is prosperous and stable. Why is that?

did you know   January 14th, 2010 - 10:54 am

unemployed AMERICANS first obama…

Give them aid…but no more than WE gave Italy several years ago when they lost hundreds of thousands of

Rexter   January 14th, 2010 - 11:10 am

Robertson’s Zionism, based on falsehoods, is dangerous – especially to this nation. His comments on Haiti are fairly benign, however.

kmichaels   January 14th, 2010 - 11:22 am

OReally, since you are nothing but an idiot on every damn issue I doubt you carry any credibility.

Did you know that if the dumbasses running Haiti had implemented standard earthquake resistant building codes like most modern countries do that they would not be suffering from their current plague right now? This would have been a minor incident had Haiti not been steeped in voodoo (over 50% of it’s population still practices voodoo today.

So who is the idiots here? The idiot ambassador and leaders like them that have done nothing to get haiti out of the dark ages and idiots like OReally that spew venom before they even know the facts.

A pact was made. It is celebrated every year. The black pig involved in the ritual is glorified in statues and yearly celebrations in Haiti to this day. The country is backwards and the majority of it’s plagues, it corrupt government, it’s poverty, it’s sickness, it’s slow response, it’s lack of resources and it’s failure to build earthquake resistant buildings can be directly traced to the fact that the vast majority of it’s people and it’s leaders still practice voodoo and other backwards ways of thinking.

kmichaels   January 14th, 2010 - 11:22 am

And Rexter, idiot muslim extremist bigot, you can go straight to hell, dumbass.

kmichaels   January 14th, 2010 - 11:28 am

The Ambassador should apologize to his own people for not pulling them out of the dark ages decades ago.

The Haiti leadership have supported voodoo so much that it is an official national religion and that over 50% of their people (according to CIA Factbook) continue to practice voodoo to this very day.

How can an entire nation plague itself by it’s choices? For one, having basic earthquake resistant building codes could have prevented 99% of the deaths. This would be a small story if the same strength earthquake hit in the USA since the buildings would, for the most part, not have collapsed and would not have killed more than a handful here and there.

Had the nation been like the USA then resources would have been sent and distributed quicker, in order to minimize collateral deaths.

We can’t stop all deaths but we can certainly decrease the numbers, just by adopting wise and practical solutions.

Yet Haiti leadership continues to condone and be part of voodoo rituals etc. OVER HALF THE COUNTRY is still steeped in voodoo and other ancient thought processes. Then you idiot liberals wonder how a nation can be plagued. God, crack open a book, you morons.

Have you no shame   January 14th, 2010 - 11:38 am

A lot of you are just like Pat Robertson and Limbaugh who suggested that Obama was happy for the quake in Haiti, as his administration will “use this to burnish their, shall we say, credibility with the black community, in the … the both light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country. It’s made to order for them.”

Don’t try to use religion for your sickness. There is something wrong with some of you people.
It’s seems as if you were born with something missing that you are not able to have empathy for people.
I bet some of you use to or still do torture small animals.

JMS   January 14th, 2010 - 11:39 am

Actions usually speak louder than words: According to one news report, during his broadcast yesterday, Pat Robertson preceded his historical reflections with a commentary on the relief aid his ministry has sent to Haiti. A ship loaded with supplies is now in the harbor of Port du Prince, waiting to be unloaded & distributed. Robertson’s CBN website also reports that his ministry has “sent a shipment of millions of dollars worth of medications that is now in Haiti, and their team leaders are expected to arrive tomorrow [Thursday] and begin operations to ease the suffering.”

While I expect Ms. Maddow never to pass up an opportunity to belittle all things Biblical (and completely overlook inconvenient facts), I would have thought that Haitian Ambassador Joseph might have expressed some appreciation for the relief efforts being offered by Robertson’s organization.

Scott   January 14th, 2010 - 11:53 am

Pat Robertson’s has the right to believe what he wants so get off his back. Now on the other hand I don’t believe GOD is vengeful. He did give his only son to die for us a free gift of eternal life. The Freedom to believe is that what the LEFT always is saying but the double standard…

Tent Show   January 14th, 2010 - 11:56 am

What everyone in the media ignores is what comes right after the ill conceived reasoning. An immediate appeal to his followers to send money for the relief operation. Like Pat or hate him, that is a fact. This mass attack coming on the heels of the Harry Reid fiasco, shows an interesting result, when my guy says something stupid, it is a forgivable misstatement and we should move on, when the other side says something stupid, it is all torches and pitchforks.

The talking heads seem to have been born yesterday. Would this be the first time a preacher evoked the name of the devil to spur the congregation to give money? Even a Hermit or a Troll can answer that question.

With Pat it is hard to know if he was referring to a literal contractual deal with the devil, or speaking by analogy. Even Pat couldn’t think that the Devil came down and signed a contract with every Haitian written in blood. But, could it be that the Haitians did trade one devil, the French slave master who imported the African as sugar cane laborers due to their resistance to Malaria thanks to Sickle Cell Anemia, for another devil in the form of corrupt government and dictators such as Papa Doc and Baby Doc and their use of voodoo and the secret police Tonton Macoutes.

Even if you are not a religious man, you know that Papa Doc-Baby Doc-and the Tonton Macoutes were the devil incarnate, creating hell on earth for the Haitians.

Zack   January 14th, 2010 - 11:56 am

How dare Pat Robertson say this. He does not speak with or for God if he thinks this. A country fighting for their freedom is an honorable thing and he should respect it. This completely destroys his credibility.

Don’t get me wrong, we can pray and talk with God and receive personal revelation but this guy is no Prophet and if anything he needs to find God again and stop praying to his purse strings.

Did his statement that they are cursed before recounting the many disasters that Haiti has suffered? Yes. Did he say they got what they had coming? No.

How dare Pat Robertson say this. He does not speak with or for God if he thinks this. A country fighting for their freedom is an honorable thing and he should respect it. This completely destroys his credibility.

Actually, your statement is just ignorant and downright stupid. There are different ways to fight for freedom. Planning on murdering all the french and employing dark arts of voodoo and continuing to practice voodoo to this very day is just going to bring about naturally bad results. You Zack just sound really stupid and shortsighted on this issue.

Is it God’s fault that Haitians were too stupid and too steeped in voodoo to do something as simple as earthquake resistant building codes? Is it God’s fault that the Haitians continue to make themselves poor, uneducated, steeped in false and vain traditions and doing everything bass ackwards?

And here you blame Robertson for something that is simply a reality and a fact of life. You live by stupid uneducated lifestyles and you die by them. You sound so clueless zack.

kmichaels   January 14th, 2010 - 12:23 pm

Hey Zack, did you worry this much about Obama’s mentor Rev Wright damning the USA and saying they got what they deserved?
I sure in hell never heard all the leftists complain about Rev Wright like they are doing now. Funny how things like that work out.
It is especially interesting in that Robertson never damned the Haitians but that Obama’s mentor Wright did DAMN AMERICA.

kmichaels   January 14th, 2010 - 12:32 pm

Repeating what I said elsewhere …

I must say it is interesting that voodoo was at the root of the ignorance that lead to lack of preparation and inaction in both Haiti and in New Orleans, of course, to a lesser degree there. But in both cases most of the misery and suffering could have been prevented by some modern advanced preparation by the local people ahead of time. Good earthquake resistant building codes in Haiti and just leaving the seen in New Orleans since they had advanced warning there. There were thousands of busses for example that the idiot democrat leaders in New Orleans could have used to bus out the poor. But nope. The local leaders in both places were backwards panderers and enablers of weakness. Both places had more voodoo than is good for a community. The majority of misery could have been prevented in both cases. Funny how a little modern thinking and good wise Christian living could have helped

Gandhi's Fist   January 14th, 2010 - 12:45 pm

If Haiti was cursed by the devil, then they got the better half of the deal. We’re cursed to endure Pat Robertson.

Magid   January 14th, 2010 - 12:58 pm

Is this true? A pact was made. It is celebrated every year. The black pig involved in the ritual is glorified in statues and yearly celebrations in Haiti to this day. And NO Even Pat couldn’t think that the Devil came down and signed a contract with every Haitian written in blood. It isn’t that God has turned his back on Haitians – it is the Haitians who have turned their back on God Almighty who came as Jesus Christ to call all of us back.

kmichaels   January 14th, 2010 - 1:05 pm

Robertson did not damn Haitians, but Obama rev Wright did damn the USA. Not many leftists complained then though, did they? Funny what leftists pick and choose to complain about. Not really that funny, it just shows that most leftists are soul-less gutless ethic-less hypocrites, backbiters and fools.

Steve   January 14th, 2010 - 1:18 pm

I wonder If the ambassador realizes he is talking to the Devil in that clip.

Shane   January 14th, 2010 - 1:25 pm

What value did Pat’s comment create? What value did it diminish?

I contend it was of little value, but diminished the perception of both Christianity, and America. How much harder will it be for ministries to reach the hearts of the Haitians with this chip on their shoulder.

PJW   January 14th, 2010 - 1:32 pm

I have seen nothing about the Dominica Republic. Did they not suffer damage. Could it be they were far more prepared, building earthquake resistanct structures? O’bama has pleadged $100 MILLION with a promise of more to come. Just crank up the printing presses. There is going to be so much fraud and thievery in this to make Katrina
seem like a mild happenstance.

G   January 14th, 2010 - 1:38 pm

HE DOESN’T DISPUTE PAT ROBERTSON’s CLAIM!!! He just says the U.S. and South America Benefitted, too!!

kmichaels   January 14th, 2010 - 1:41 pm

There is great value for a nation to become self-aware of living in a self-imposed dark ages, practicing voodoo (CIA factbook claims over 50% of them are still involved with voodoo). Heck, just using modern earthquake resistant building codes in a nation would be a smart modern way of thinking. Does it diminish Christianity? Heck, we have 20% of our nation that is liberal awipes wanting diminish Christianity at every turn, I doubt this will make a hill of beans of real difference. Leftists will still hate Christians and still promote their evil choices upon the nations. This is not that big of deal and Pat was on the mark about Haiti needing to make some national changes.

kmichaels   January 14th, 2010 - 1:44 pm

BTW, this ambassador sounds like a bit of a simplistic dimwit. His conclusions are stupid. Rachel madcow is so damned misinformed and hateful that she will remain a pathetic Cold hearted B for the rest of her life.

Jack Sprat   January 14th, 2010 - 1:51 pm

Since the 700 club is seen in 200 nations, in 70 languages and maintains warehouses of emergency goods around the world as well as participating in projects of “water wells, medical missions, orphanages and micro enterprises”, I would be so quick to call him “odious”, perhaps ill informed about the history of the nation spawning vodu, I would hazard to say that he does more true good in this sick and sad world than Ms Maddow will do in her life time, times 3. I would hazard to guess like most of the PMSNBC/CNN/CNBC crowd she favors the flushing away of 1.3 million of our most innocent in the toilets of the Planned Parenthood’s butcher mills.
Spoken like a truly empty headed/hearted “above religion, beneath contempt”, secular religious fanatic that favors saving whales over babies or the “worthless old people”, who in her view may well have out lived her usefulness and should become so we should force death with dignity. I just hope she doesn’t make it to the death panels Comrade president want to impose on us.
I guess Pat could take a speech class 102, along with Harry (Negro dialect) Reid and Silly Willy (he’d be getting us coffee) Clinton.
Gee, thankfully he’s not like the wrong Rev Wright or Calypso Louis Farrakhan, then we’d really have someone to look “up” to, at least Ms Maddow wouldn’t express the same “revulsion” and fake out rage, but then she’s “intellectually evolved” from a created human to an evolved ape.

Pliny the Younger   January 14th, 2010 - 1:53 pm

It’s God’s fault!! Faultline that is. Since the earth is God’s creation then it’s His Fault(line)[of course I'm being sarcastic]. Earthquakes are just as natural as the wind blowing. It has nothing to do with what humans believe.

Pat Robertson’s has the right to believe what he wants so get off his back. Now on the other hand I don’t believe GOD is vengeful

Why is the lack of good distributions systems, good governmental systems, good educational systems and good earthquake resistant building codes in Haiti the result of a vengeful god? Sounds like this misery is self imposed by mostly backwards thinking people. We can’t stop earthquakes but Haitians had two hundred years to pull themselves out of the dark ages and chose not to.

BLZeebub   January 14th, 2010 - 1:53 pm

Would all of you who having been looking, apparently for a long time, for a reason to vent your anti-Christian spleens, have the same vitriolic reaction to Barry Obama, who has claimed he’s a Christian, had he said the same thin as Robertson? I didn’t think so. Those Progressive/Liberal (Regressive/Illiberal) government-worshipping Christians are the only good Christians, right? It’s sure easy to see why this weenis got elected.

Jack Sprat   January 14th, 2010 - 1:57 pm

As to the “ambassador”, apprently we made the “opposite” deal with the devil, although liberals are working very hard to fix that.

bad move ambassador.
you are suppposed to have your hands filled with the health of these people not answering someething you disagree with. NOW IS THE TIME TO COME TO THE AID OF THE COUNTRY OF HAITI, not tit-for-tat-spat.

A friend in need   January 14th, 2010 - 2:10 pm

The devil came down to Haiti,
He was looking for a pact to deal,
The French pressed hard in Haiti’s backyard,
Haiti caved and began to real.

First came floods and hurricanes,
Earthquakes swelled in time,
They killed the pig year to year,
Always looking to take the USA dime.

Here we are again today,
Insanity creates the same,
Do the same thing over and over again,
While expecting things to change.

Now Haiti has nothing to show,
For all of its foolish ways,
IT’S A PICTURE OF THE LIBERALS,
THAT LIVE HERE IN OUR DAY! REPENT BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE :(

H2K   January 14th, 2010 - 2:13 pm

What did Pat say that was so wrong? If these peasants hadn’t been practicing voodoo with their dried chicken feet and animal sacrifices over the generations, then perhaps they would have been focusing on positive elements they could bring to their society. Strength of character, individualism, carrying for each other, work ethic, goal oriented – all things that Christianity is associated with.

You can’t have a morally bankrupt society, not believing in something greater than yourself, and then when hit with a disaster, not be able to hold the fort until some help comes along.

Give Pat a break.

RobertB   January 14th, 2010 - 2:23 pm

The ambassador should spend less time sticking pins into his Pat Robertson voodoo doll and concentrate on how he’s going to pocket all that relief money we’re sending over.

To all the people that agree with pat robertson:

If you believe that because the Haitians practiced a religion of their choosing, that they deserved an earthquake: i hope that you get colon cancer, your health insurance drops you, your family is driven to financial ruin, and when you realize that your god has left you, you die because He doesn’t like self righteous jerks. You fundamentalists are so irritating, it saddens me that you can read what you’ve thought and you still think its appropriate to say. Its it’s so frustrating to talk to you because you think you talk to god every day so you can say whatever stupid thing you want. pffft, nonsense. You people are the ones that are cursed. your souls are blacker than tar and you make people hate christians.

kristin   January 14th, 2010 - 4:05 pm

Rachel Maddow says Robertson’s views are “odious?” I can tell she has NOT seen the video in which he speaks of praying for, and sending relief, to the Haitian people. Making a “pact with the devil” was almost a sidebar comment. He certainly did not say that individual Haitians were responsible or that we should not help this impoverished people. Give the guy a break.

AZKenReid   January 14th, 2010 - 4:12 pm

Well, that’s an interesting spin on history. It seems the Ambassador is saying that a bunch of poorly armed Haitian slaves conquered the French army, but the United States would have been unable to do the same. France would have marched into the Louisiana territory with no resistance whatsoever. Hhhmm.

Joe   January 14th, 2010 - 4:29 pm

First off, DUMBASS, Pat never said such a thing. He never said they deserved an earthquake. He said that they have been cursed, as a pattern of history. Meaning that lots of bad things have been happening to them. For one thing, if the same size earthquake happened in the USA we would have deaths in the 100s instead of the hundreds of thousands, simply because as an advanced nation we have earthquake resistant building codes.

“Well, that’s an interesting spin on history.”
In the book “10 of the Greatest Military Blunders”, Hispaniola in revolt, beat a French army of 50,000 and an English army of 50,000, but like spain’s defeat of the “natives”, some 250,000, most were killed by disease rather than arms. Oddly the english did try to take over “lousiana” and their army was soundly defeated by Jackson, the french who tried to take over the northwest territories, much earlier. Apparently the Ambassador should look into his history, since the french had no real claim in the America’s, other than Hispaniola, and a slice of South America the rest was said to be the product of liberation by Simon Bolivar, not Toussaint L’Ouverture, and the booting out of the French and sale of the Louisiana Purchase had more to do with the Napoleonic wars, long story short, Maddow, Ambassador, and the other muffin-heads should do some book cracking.
Unfortunately for the poor, the $100 million “people’s donation”, Comrade president has pledged will only ‘feed and house” about 100 of the ruling class (if that), the rest will have to suffer the odious ilk of the Pat Robertsons of the world, cuz beyond Rachel’s faux outrage, not much more will be coming. I remember during Katrina, that Bush and Chenny caused, the Athiest website was complaining about “all those religionists” getting all of the head lines, after all, the athiest were planning to send something….real soon and may actually have by now. Isn’t it strange that liberals always villify the “religious right”, feeling morally superior by making someone else donate to those “good causes”?
That is the only constant in this discussion.

There just may be something to this punishment thing Pat mentioned. For instance, a great deal of America have turned away from God, certainly a Christian God, and look what has happened to us….Obama. If that ain’t punishment….

This guys nation is in shambles and hes busy mocking Pat Robertson? Also, seems Robertson’s statements have some history to them, this guy did not deny Haiti made a pact with the devil, seems he affirmed it. I wonder if he will now go on a show and mock douche bag Danny Glover who believes the spooky nature gods have struck Haiti

Pat Robertson & Danny Glover on Cause of Haiti Earthquake
Once again when a natural disaster strikes Americans respond with assistance. The American people immediately go into action to help those in need because that is the kind of people we are. The world looks to the USA for our response. President Barack Hussein Obama has pledged 100 million taxpayers dollars for support of Haiti. However, the answer is not to just throw money at it because the USA has been sending millions of dollars to Haiti but the corrupt leadership misused and stole the money.
Pat Robertson made a statement regarding the earthquake in Haiti blaming it on the pact the Haitian’s made with the devil. He believes it is the wrath of God that perpetrated this disaster. Although, it is a factual story; the Haitian’s did a voodoo ceremony making a compact with the devil. It’s a history lesson that I do not think needed to be taught at this time. It was an insensitive statement made during the time of the crisis, akin to kicking someone when they are down. Robertson was crucified by the media for making the statement, which was stupid and insensitive.
Danny Glover on the other hand blamed the earthquake on the god of Global Warming. He stated we are all in peril because of global warming and climate change. When we (USA) did what we did at the climate summit in Copenhagen this is the response, this is what happens. It will be interesting to see if there is the same amount of outrage directed towards him.
There will be natural disasters throughout the world, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tornados, and hurricanes etc. because “It is what it is.” That is the nature of our planet. I do not believe it is “god’s will.”

It was Haiti that allowed America to make the Louisiana Purchase from the French fo 15 million? Sounds like revisionist history to me. It was Tom Paine who wrote to Thomas Jefferson informing them that France was virtually bankrupt and there was no need to go to war with them just offer them money and they sold us the whole territory. Just the TRUE FACTS,Rachel Madcow, look it up.

Off Duty   January 15th, 2010 - 4:42 pm

In two days the survivors of Haiti’s recent devestation will be in full riot….and this dumb moron is addressing Pat Robertson’s recent incendiary (yet factual), comment.

Is it just me….or has the whole world gone mad?

To everyone that really believes that bad things happen to bad people as God’s punishment remember this: When your loved one, husband, wife, daughter, son, baby, boyfriend or relative is killed in an automobile accident after leaving church one evening by a drunk driver, will you say God used my loved one to punish the drunk driver? How stupid does that sound! Matt. 5:43-48 says that God causes the sun to shine on the just and unjust, and that it rains on the righteous and unrighteous. Its just life while we are here on Earth, and death is just a process of life, get over the right and wrong of living and just live what life you have for yourself if you want, or for God if you chose. But remember for every action a price must be paid.

Pat Robertson is a fool, be believes in a fictitional person who never even existed 2000 years ago. There is NO evidence the Christian God Jesus ever existed. And honestly what is the difference between Christianity and Hatian VooDoo? both are false religions just as Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism are. The only true religion is the “REVEALED” word of God “JUDAISM” all the rest are merely inspired satanic cults
