In case you haven't heard, President Obama has basically given the United Nations jurisdiction to go after the State of Arizona and the 22 other states that are attempting to enforce the immigration laws that federal government refuses to enforce. On August 20, the United States, for the first time ever, submitted a 29 page “Universal Periodic Review" (UPR) to the UN Human Rights Council. The review contained a laundry list of alleged human rights abuses supposedly committed by the United States. I just finished reading the UPR and it's probably the most inflammatory document I have ever read about the U.S. The Administration has placed our country in the same grouping as Europe and Russia. Contained within that laundry list of so-called abuses is a direct condemnation of S.B. 1070, legislation enacted by the State of Arizona (and supported by two-thirds of the American people). The issue is being addressed in a court action that argues that the federal government has the authority to set and enforce immigration law. That action is ongoing; parts of the law are currently enjoined."
The submission of this UPR is the first step in a United Nations review process which will culminate with the issuance of a plan of action, approximately 90 days from now, from a panel of UN bureaucrats.
Arizona is fighting back against the Obama administration’s decision to haul her state before the United Nations Human Rights Council. Governor Jan Brewer has penned a letter to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Friday expressing her “concern and indignation” at the administration’s report to the UN, which cited a federal lawsuit against Arizona’s immigration bill as part of its efforts to fight human rights violations. This author was the first person to report that provision of the administration’s brief.
“Apparently, the federal government is trying to make an international human rights case out of S.B. 1070 on the heels of already filing a federal court case against the State of Arizona,” the governor wrote. “The idea of our own American government submitting the duly enacted laws of a State of the United States to ‘review’ by the United Nations is internationalism run amok and unconstitutional,” she added. Politicians in D.C. do this all the time. They are shoving money in our faces for bullet trains. What that has to do with the midterm is that Pelosi and the liberal policies have had a chance and are not working, and this midterm is the chance for us to slam the brakes on.
And even if those clips actually represented the people you want to smear, then at least they grew and matured. There is a certain Black caucus member in trouble for steering scholarships to relatives, that's current and that's corruption in the here and now.
