GOP House Whip Pledges to Repeal ObamaCare

Rep. Eric Cantor appeared on the Bill O'Reilly Show with guest host Laura Ingraham. Ms. Ingraham pressed Rep. Cantor to commit to a full repeal of ObamaCare.

tiredofit2010   August 27th, 2010 - 4:18 am

One can only hope the GOP will repeal it….

tatankachief   August 27th, 2010 - 4:24 am

This guy paid good attention in Politics 101. ABSOLUTELY. My fear is that the Republicans may 'say' they're against big government and all that the OBAMALISTS have established in the last 18 months, but I think the truth is they won't change much at all. They will inherit infinitely more power than they had when they lost it all in '08 and that power is a narcotic these lifers are addicted to … Demobrat or Republiscam. I still say DC needs a complete blood transfusion:

FIRE 'EM ALL. TERM LIMITS. QUIT SPENDING. TAP OUR OWN OIL. CLEAN THE HOUSE (illegals) THEN CLOSE OUR DOORS FOR A LITTLE WHILE SO WE CAN HEAL UP.

AmericanDawg   August 27th, 2010 - 4:31 am

When the GOP wins their houses back they must understand that they will be on "Double Secret Probation ",
AND we will be watching them and hold them to their words and new standards set by us ….

The days of the old Washington mindset are over and we will restore " Of the people , By the people and For the people "

1Ladyliberty   August 27th, 2010 - 4:31 am

Don't know if I trust his word…he says "if he is in a position to do it' means what……need to hold his feet to the fire!
I say NO to any ear marks in bills!

RedNM   August 27th, 2010 - 4:32 am

These two are totally friends of the American people. And I think Laura is a major force for change – just as long as she stays away from that pesky "N" word.

flytiegoode   August 27th, 2010 - 4:35 am

It would be a dream come true if it were repealed and they start over from scratch. However, I fear that damage is done and we won't get a complete repeal at this stage. If the repeal could be done the Repubs are the ones that could do it. After all, the Repubs put a man on the moon when the democrats couldn't get a drunk woman across a bridge.

water_buffalo   August 27th, 2010 - 4:37 am

Laura Ingram is a better host then B O'reilly at least she isn't out to be nice to both sides if the one side is clearly wrong

Bill_Lumbergh   August 27th, 2010 - 4:51 am

Now THAT'S 'Change We Can Believe In!'

Jamesb   August 27th, 2010 - 4:52 am

First defund "OBAMACIDE" then in 2013 take it out behind the tool shed and smack it with a shovel.

It's having negative ancillary effects already and we KNOW the Demon-rats have no idea what the unintended consequenses will be – other than imploding the Health Care system in a not so veiled attempt to herd us all into a single payer British style N.H.S. debacle.

I get e-mail ads from English newspapers and one ad was selling a type of "insurance" that is designed to help VICTIMS of the National Health Service bypass that system and BUY healthcare in a parallel system purchaseable with cash.

It's hook? "NO WAITING!"

bitterweed   August 27th, 2010 - 4:52 am

I AGREE completely..I don't think there's a dime's difference between them..

asimmons710   August 27th, 2010 - 4:53 am

Absolutely true. I don't watch him nearly as much for just that reason.

Take Care,
Andy

GoldenApple   August 27th, 2010 - 4:55 am

Eric Cantor is a good person, and he has been fighting this from day one. He is honest and decent. Glad he represents my self and my state.

yourjewishnews   August 27th, 2010 - 5:00 am

will never happen GOP dont have any balls that is why they are almost never in power in washington
also a judge ruled that the government has the right to place GPS without a warrant in what country are we living today? http://www.yourjewishnews.com/111.aspx

rovers   August 27th, 2010 - 5:00 am

I watched the segment last night. He kept looking up and off to his left. I don't know why but it didn't help his credibility with me. Could of been some innocent something going on. Did not look good or impress on camera. Left me cold to his pledge. Hope I'm wrong.

asimmons710   August 27th, 2010 - 5:00 am

True, but for your average Republicans (as a party) it's just a means for election/reelection. For true conservative Republicans it is about doing it for the betterment of the Country.

Take care,
Andy

Bill_Lumbergh   August 27th, 2010 - 5:00 am

Yep. We the people are going to have to babysit the Republicans to ensure that they just don't revert to their Bush-era big-gov't, spendthrift ways.

gwar5   August 27th, 2010 - 5:02 am

It's about time he came out and said this. The polls have been saying this since before it was passed.

But, I don't diss him too much for not coming out strong prior to this to say he's for repeal — No need to fire up the lefty base prior to an election, no need to display your cards, and if the house and senate don't flip and you don't get the votes, you set yourselves up for perception of impotence and failure. Let's see how many seats we can get in each house and then make our demands.
.

Bill_Lumbergh   August 27th, 2010 - 5:03 am

Let's DRAFT Laura Ingraham, and get her to run for office. She'd be fantastic!

asimmons710   August 27th, 2010 - 5:04 am

I took the same feeling away from the interview myself. What diff does it make if he is in a position to do it or not. Even if I were not in a position I'd be throwing 'repeal' and 'anti-earmark' proposals out so fast it would be a D.C. snowstorm….

..rather than the usual D.C. snow-job.

Your skepticism is well founded.

Take care,
Andy

bitterweed   August 27th, 2010 - 5:08 am

He didn't convince me..he hemmed and hawed..Laura had to beat it out of him..You trust any politician at your own peril. And, they can repeal anything they want if they put their efforts to it.

As we have seen with all of the abuse in the public sector, the federal, state and local governments need to be put on a starvation diet. Trim them to the bone. Look at the benefits and pensions they have given themselves..and look at what those entitlements have done to our economy.

claspur   August 27th, 2010 - 5:10 am

Just read what this would be called, 'Nullification.'
Individual states are already underway to nullify this deathcare bill.
The book was a bit of a drag to read… a lot of constitutional 'legalese.'

Just started reading, 'Control Freaks' 7 Ways Liberals Plan to Ruin Your Life _Terrence P. Jeffrey, the other day.
It's starting-out pretty good. ;o)

asimmons710   August 27th, 2010 - 5:13 am

If we had been all along (and I include myself in that lot) we would not be in this situation right now.

Let's vow to NEVER again become complacent and let the Liberals take control of ANYTHING, PERIOD!

Take (control) care,
Andy

DizzieLizzie66   August 27th, 2010 - 5:17 am

Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan should fix this whole fiasco. They are the only two in the congress who are capable of doing this.

SolOmoN280   August 27th, 2010 - 5:23 am

Hopefully this guy says what he means and means what he says…. not just another politician looking to get re elected kind of like McCain. We have to hold these guys accountable when they say there are going to do something, they need to do it.

Bill_Lumbergh   August 27th, 2010 - 5:29 am

Wrong Laura, dip$hiT! Damn, you trolls are DUMB! "Most real Americans don't want a repeal of the health care act." – WRONG again! Where do you get your 'information?' You pull it out of your butt, don't you?

Rover_Bump   August 27th, 2010 - 5:35 am

Anyone we elect now is going to be under microscopic scrutiny and they better remember that. I know it's going to take a long time to untangle the nightmare, Congress has never been famous for lightning speed. But the new guys are going to be held to a higher standard and are always going to be in danger of getting the boot if they show one symptom of playing fat-cat with their new positions.

Bill_Lumbergh   August 27th, 2010 - 5:38 am

That was 'Dr. Laura,' not Laura Ingraham. Ingraham is way too smart to say the 'N' word over the airwaves.

hopeful101   August 27th, 2010 - 5:40 am

The new healthcare bill will bankrupt America and lower the quality of service in America, I hope repeal happens.

kdizzydaze   August 27th, 2010 - 5:41 am

Please tell me that you are a double reverse plant that was actually posting this useless pablum and sticking this clinical form of retardation (yes, retardation) in here to make the left look dumber than they actually are.

Jamesb   August 27th, 2010 - 5:49 am

Come on. Make at least a teeny tiny effort to keep up.

Didn't Media Splatters tell you which "Laura" to robo-post?

Have they cut the seminar to a half day, no lunch? Troll *quality control* is slipping.

meta=EPIC FAIL

Jaynie59   August 27th, 2010 - 5:50 am

I wish some blog or news outlet would write a detailed piece on what exactly an earmark is. I saw an interview with Jim Inhofe a few months ago were he said that all an earmark does is designate where already allocated money is to be spent, and any money not earmarked by Congress for a specific purposes simply goes to the Executive branch and will be spent by the administration anyway they want to.

In other words, eliminating earmarks would do NOTHING to lower spending. An earmark forces money to specific areas and keeps it out of the hands of the White House. If you eliminate earmarks all you are doing is giving the White House a blank check.

Earmark reform sounds like a good idea to get rid of the really stupid stuff. Maybe make the rules for earmarks tighter so that we stop funding hooker studies in Singapore, or where ever that was.

Eileen for Freedom   August 27th, 2010 - 5:50 am

PART I –

'LEAVE NO DEMOCRATZI 'LOON' STANDING IN NOVEMBER'!
————————————————————————————
America…I saw this interview and it disturbed me! I was not completely convinced that Eric Cantor was not stumbling due to the fact that he could not without question answer the question…'will you repeal Obamacare'? He faltered and that, to me, is disturbing!

That is why…America…we must elect CONSERVATIVE men/women who are willing to make the hard choices and not flip flop on the issues at hand and what must be done!

Jamesb   August 27th, 2010 - 5:50 am

agreed. Ryan could be president on day. He's got "it".

Democrat_Decimation   August 27th, 2010 - 5:54 am

mustafamonde   August 27th, 2010 - 5:56 am

Insightful and accurate.

Democrat_Decimation   August 27th, 2010 - 5:59 am

Last week, Obama blamed Congress for the economy, when he and his Administration twisted arms to pass Obamacare. Fact is, Socialized Medicine is totally unsustainable and is unconstitutional. Corporations are now finding out they will have to pay 45-55% of their profits to Socialized Medicine. What I really want to hear as a question is will the Republicans get Susan Collins & Olympia Snowe of Maine, Senator Dick Lugar of Indiana and Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina censured?

claspur   August 27th, 2010 - 6:24 am

First order of business should be to impeach president Soetoro, after the mid-terms.

claspur   August 27th, 2010 - 6:26 am

That's a Big 10-4 on thatn'. ;o)

eoros   August 27th, 2010 - 6:31 am

This was the first time I have seen or heard Cantor in an interview. From my readings I thought he was a reliable conservative. After this interview I am sorry to say he strikes me as another slick politician and I don't trust him!

eoros   August 27th, 2010 - 6:34 am

I think form Cantor's answer about supporting the Ryan's RoadMap you won't see him working too closely with Ryan. Ryan is his competition.

Oldphoto678   August 27th, 2010 - 6:42 am

Look I don't like the GPS idea either, but they can already track your every move, watch your house or business. The only real question is should they be able to come on to your property without a warrant. I don't think so, but you righties opened the can of worms with the so called Patriot act.

I know one thing for sure. If you righties get control the only rights you'll be conserned about are yours, and the only Americans will be people that think and act like you. God I hate you far right loons

HelloLiars   August 27th, 2010 - 6:46 am

yea, this is the Laura that's the closeted lesbian who adopts alien babies because she cant find any babies in america that need adopting. All while spewing how we need to end abortion because the babies would be adopted.

H2K   August 27th, 2010 - 6:47 am

Then Mr Cantor has earned my vote. God speed.

Will_Antonin   August 27th, 2010 - 6:48 am

I'll believe his commitment when I see it.

He's a politician. I wouldn't be surprised if he said one thing to Politico and another to Fox News — playing to two different audiences.

I don't care if he has an "R" next to his name. And I don't care what he SAYS to a conservative host. I care what he actually does.

Good for Laura for being so (rightfully) hard-hitting.

dswilli   August 27th, 2010 - 6:49 am

Personally I will go to jail instead of signing up for Obamacare. And no I'm not paying the GD fine either. If they "can't" remove 20 million illegals will they attempt to lock up 20 million patriots? Let's find out.

HeReturnsSoon   August 27th, 2010 - 7:10 am

Hmm, Lets see what happens in November. Between now and then, lets bring things into the light. Mr. Cantor seems to be sincere, keep holding him up into the light.

skipper99   August 27th, 2010 - 7:10 am

Everyone must never forget! This is Campaign rhetoric, and gobbledegook verbiage. I think we have all heard more than enough of political crap. These imbeciles are experts at double speak, and the voters just go with the flow. It must always be Watch what I do, NOT what I say. The best example of that is the imposter in OUR White House>

kay   August 27th, 2010 - 7:11 am

For the majority of people…the HCR bill is a waste of paper. We gained nothing except a bill requiring all people to be taxed and MUSLIMs …NOT taxed. (Sharia Law)

They still raise the insurance rates at neck break speed. The costs are prohibitive and unaffordable for most. There are still too many “Non-Covered” treatments…same as before. There are provisions for covering non-citizens paid by Taxpayers. Abortions that they said would not be covered….they are….imam Osama Hussein Obama, lied.

Employers are stuck with insuring 26 year old non dependents of workers…..who could not afford to provide the workers alone with insurance ..let alone the additional load. They will no longer offer Health Care. (it’s the last nail in the coffin of Health care for major companies.)

And oh the donut hole….they filled the donut hole with grease…it is still there. You pay more for it…. and the Drug Co’s. benefit more.

They are going to refuse paying Social Security in a few years….and Medicare, Medicaid will go the same way. Death panels will begin and anyone not producing (equals slavery) will be given the little purple pill of death….for treatment.

How is this hopey changey thing working for you??? Because it isn’t doing POOP for me!!

Death will be a welcome change for many of us.

TalkingDust   August 27th, 2010 - 7:12 am

What's being missed when one congressional or senatorial member makes these kind of broad, sweeping promisory remarks is that they are not single-handedly able to waltz into the House or Senate and magically accomplish what they're saying.

They have to convince a sufficient majority of other House or Senate members to get on board to accomplish anything.

Sometimes one person can successfully rally enough of his/her constituents to get the job done. Sometimes not.

Once a new branch of government is created it's difficult-at-best to amputate it. Socialised medicine represents a gigantic, new bureaucracy vested with incredible power. How likely is it that either side will relinquish such power easily? Reversing Husseinacide will prove more difficult than is being portrayed.

Besides, Imam Obama still has the Islamoveto.

When McCain ran against Bush in first go round, I contributed money and worked hard during the primaries. Only to see McCain cave in a few weeks later. Watching McCain since, I see a pattern of double speak and a disconnect from what the people want and deserve from his efforts as a US Senator. His buddy Lindsay Graham is no Repub, but a turn coat of self serving agrandizement.

skipper99   August 27th, 2010 - 7:17 am

Would that be something like obama wanting injured returning vets to pay for their medical costs? As obama said, "No one forced them to join!

mandinkawarrior   August 27th, 2010 - 7:17 am

The Republicans most likely will gain the majority in the house and possibly the senate, but not a two thirds majority.

There are not that many seats in play in the senate. That's what they would need to override a presidential veto.
So that's what will happen if they try to pass a bill to repeal the health care reform bill.
Don't listen to Fox Propaganda network.
Some righties think that Barack Hussein Obama will NOT be president after Nov-2-2010,not true.
If the Republicans take both houses and they don't come up with some ideas to create job growth.
It will be just like it was in 1994.Republicans gained a lot seats but didn't really do anything.
They were out by 1996 and Bill Clinton got re-elected.
Barack Hussein Obama will veto any crazy s#it that the Republicans try to pass, like more tax cuts for the wealthy and privatizing Social Security.

CatOnGlue   August 27th, 2010 - 7:28 am

Cantor is honest even when some people don't like what he has to say. Every person I have talked to has said that repealing something is not easy. Not funding the legislation is the most surefire way to make sure that it is not implemented and that is why he discusses the "vote against funding" strategy more than the repeal strategy. To repeal it in total you would need 60 senate votes. Some pieces could be repealed with 51 using budget reconciliation,

Buhlz_I   August 27th, 2010 - 7:31 am

Add an amendment to the Constitution requiring the Fed to balance the budget and 2/3 majority vote for tax increases

Buhlz_I   August 27th, 2010 - 7:34 am

Here's what we want from you Republicans

1) A contract with America stating your position and what exact steps will be undertaken if your elected
2) A amendment added to the Constitution requiring the Fed to balance their budget
3) 2/3 majority vote for tax increases.

Rep. Eric Cantor is a real American with
twice the smarts as Obama

Kevscottsdale   August 27th, 2010 - 8:03 am

Did you guys watch the same show as I did? Cantor waffled like a used car salesman. His message, as I heard it: "We will try to repeal Obamacare….but if there is too much resistance or a great amount of voters like some of it, we'll compromise and let some parts survive." I wouldn't trust this guy at all after watching him last night.

tatankachief   August 27th, 2010 - 8:18 am

ABSOLUTELY!!! ;o) and no more earmarks … period. A bill passes on it's own merit or fails with nothing else hiding in the woodwork and nothing gets passed until its read and understood!

kay   August 27th, 2010 - 8:23 am

Someday …… about 30 years from now….I would like to come back from the grave and see what kind of world the Dems have made. When Islam is ruling….Dems are slaves…who have no Political choices….in fact NO choices. When The drug lords own the world…but are so doped up they have no responsible ideas. The streets are wild and riot infested, infrastructure is depleted, along with law enforcement, security, safety. Stealing, looting food and goods is the only way of life. Nothing of value is left. People become scavengers.
Mexican gangs and terrorists patrol the streets against Islamic terrorists who both claim power. The NYC streets resemble the bombed out, war torn remains, of Hiroshima. Chicago leveled to two story rubble, looted and burned, patrolled by black gangs against the Mexicans, Asians, and whites. Los Angles burned out, leveled, and over run by chain garbed, spike headed, tattooed, gays and terrorists of Mixed nationalities….who loot, shoot, kill and maim anything that moves among the shadows.

These are the citizens of the future….. Not my world….. I won’t live in it. This is what you DemoRats want…..and you will be the majority. Hate will finally rule. This will be your new found Hell…..here on earth.
Happy self destruction.

gwgn02   August 27th, 2010 - 8:47 am

Totally agree. He had an opportunity to convince me of his solid position, and he didnt. What a disappointment Eric.

gwgn02   August 27th, 2010 - 8:49 am

Cantor sounded very political if you actually listen to how he framed his answers. I was expecting an non-equivocating, blunt statement from Eric… Instead it sounded weak. WTF GOP grow some balls already.

What_what_what   August 27th, 2010 - 8:52 am

Cantor is so full of sh__! It's called pandering for votes.

RightUnite   August 27th, 2010 - 8:59 am

Who the hell does Ingraham think she is…the conscience of the right wing?…the republican thought police?…Her pretense to be "holding their feet to the fire" is assinine. Putting up a bill to be vetoed without defunding, obstructing the Gov take over etc is WORTHLESS…Cantor should have asked her what makes her think ryans roadmap is the ONLY approach…he should have reversed the questions and had HER explain what HE should do… This woman HAD a chance to be an efficient voice for conservatives, but unfortunately she has become too arrogant to be effective…what a jerk.

kmichaels   August 27th, 2010 - 9:20 am

Feel free to show the clause in the Patriot act that
allows a warrantless visit to your property.

The reason you can't do it is because it is not there.
The reason you spew general talking points about
the Patriot Act is that the only thing you know about
it is it's name. It is obvious that as far as content
goes you got nothing.

And dear idiot liberal child, it was passed supported
and remains in place even with your Democrats
being in complete charge.

You really are a very stupid child.

kmichaels   August 27th, 2010 - 9:22 am

Wow, YellowLiar wants to post stupidity again.
How quaint. But seriously, you sound
mentally retarded.

puck30   August 27th, 2010 - 9:23 am

AmericanDawg I love the way you said that, "Double Secret Probation ", LOL! But it's so true, I hope they remember why they got thrown out in the first place. I don't trust Laura Ingraham because she use to date Keith Olbermann & Bob Toricelli, and I left her right after she ragged on her radio show about celebrities adopting kids and then she goes out and does the same thing. As much as Laura is getting the message out I feel too many times when it comes to Laura, it's all about Laura.

Eric Cantor? He talks the talk, I hope he walks the walk. There are still many Republican RINOS & Neo-Conservatives that have to be weeded out for this party to flurish in it's full capacity. 2010 is a start, then 2012, and remember Lindsey Graham in 2014. The new breed Republican when it gets to Washington in January MUST STAND FIRM & TOGETHER.

If it becomes buisness as usual, well HELL have no fury as a scorned Conservative voter.

kmichaels   August 27th, 2010 - 9:24 am

Metamucil barely has a functioning brain cell left
so when he hears the name Laura he assumes
that all the Lauras of the world are all wrapped
up into one person.

He saw an old movie with Laurel and Hardy
and was waiting for the n word to be said from
Laurel. He thought he was watching today's
news.

He's a complete lunatic to say the least
but that's what makes him such a fine
liberal. Lunacy is their bag.

kmichaels   August 27th, 2010 - 9:25 am

Why not let the parents pay for their own kids?
There's a novel idea.

kmichaels   August 27th, 2010 - 9:27 am

No, insane YellowLiar, you have it wrong again.'
Why do you lie? Is it in your genes?

kmichaels   August 27th, 2010 - 9:28 am

Most analysts think Obama is a one termer.
But at least you can hold onto your dreams
manwithdinkydick, you still have your dreams.

Just like it was in 1994? Well, our economy
was pretty damn good after 1994, right
up until the dems got more control.

kmichaels   August 27th, 2010 - 9:30 am

Liberals thrive off of pandering.
That is why they love a progressive
tax system in the first place. It is
the very tool that allows them to
purchase votes.

If tax rates were equal for everyone
then the left would run out of the
most prominent tool they currently
use to promise handouts to their
followers with.

When liberals run out of other people's
money their votes dry up quickly.

HelloLiars   August 27th, 2010 - 9:30 am

We all get that talk DOUCHE ! The only difference now is that the DOC's get paid for it instead of having to put it down as office visit. The real world has no place for GOP logic, does it ?

puck30   August 27th, 2010 - 9:31 am

Look what Arizona had to choose from, I guy they didn't like and I guy they threw out. Palin endorsed McCain but everybody knows why. As far as I know 'The Tea Party' didn't endorse either one. Arizona voters were in a bit of a pickle, if it wasn't the fact that Senators get elected for 6 years I would be tempted to put the Democrat in office for two years and try again since it's looking like the Republicans could pull off a historic win in Congress where Democrats won't matter for at least two years after that.

Remember, Novermber will be the largest loss of members of a political party in the history of the United States. An entire generation of Democrats will say goodbye to Washington D.C. for good. ACORN isn't allowed anymore to steal elections, so expect the Democrats to lose well over 100 seats. I'll be here the day after the election to claim my prize!

You sound like it will be an easy thing to repeal the law

him a chance and don't expect too much too soon.

He is a good guy on the right track. More support
less bitching is in order.

Sick kids don't have parents?
Are you saying that if your neighbors
kids are sick you rush over and
offer them your money?

If not, then shut the hell up, hypocrite.

kmichaels   August 27th, 2010 - 9:39 am

Please oh great one, you were telling
us how when your neighbor's kids get
sick you rush over and give them
your money. But you left out some
of the details, like names and dates
and locations and such. Please, go on.

HelloLiars   August 27th, 2010 - 9:39 am
