Google Bosses Convicted in Abuse Video Case

BBC News: An Italian court has convicted three Google executives in a trial over a video showing an autistic teenager being bullied. The Google employees were accused of breaking Italian law by allowing the video to be posted online. Judge Oscar Magi absolved the three of defamation but convicted them of privacy violations.

By this logic, why don’t they convict the executives of the company that designed/manufactured the mobile phone that made it possible to record the incident as well? Wouldn’t the individual with Downs Syndrome’s privacy also be violated by the Italian court and the news organisation for talking about the video and the bullying? It makes just as much sense. I don’t see how posting a video on Google Video/Youtube would be any different than stating the bullying happened on a national/international news channel.
