This is hilarious. I find myself agreeing with the CEO from the Black Chamber of Commerce. Now, without seeing his testimony, to see if he brought up race, but it appears he didn’t, what these Democrats have done is to attempt to counter the critical opinions of the Black CoC by seeking other liberal black groups that support their politics. But those groups–the NAACP as a prime example–are NOT promoters of Capitalism, Free Markets, sound economic policies, etc. They are political group mouthpieces for the Democrats. So she introduced race into the issue. The gentleman said it clearly: If you have opposing opinions, fine, but why did you go out and cherry pick BLACK opinions and from groups that are not necessarily expert in energy policy?

Courageous witness. The witness had an opinion based on expert opinion and deep analysis. He happened to be black, Boxer’s citation of the opinion of another group, the NAACP, with no qualifications on energy to counter the words of a black witness was a racist approach pure and simple. Absolutely reflects her preoccupation with identity politics. He deserves to be applauded for standing up for himself and for the facts against this attempt to assert that the opinion of a black expert can be negated by the opinion of a black non-expert purely because both are black. I was having a problem figuring out if he was pulling the race card to get the upper hand in the debate or if she was margainalizing his arguement based on his race. Aside from that, there IS racial progress here, though thinly veiled. When racial groups, in this case blacks, refuse to march lock-step on every issue with each other and espouse their own views, individualism is promoted, not racial hegemony. We are starting to see vestiges of the needed critical mass among blacks who are not just happy to be represented as a homogenous “black community” that so many condescendingly assume exists, but individual opinions and stances that divided the race on issues, breaking the sameful and inerent racism of cohesion of ideas based only on skin tone.

Stating that a group represents blacks is not racist or condescending. I don’t like Boxer, but that CEO, who is black, wouldn’t have taken his particular stance if Boxer was black (turn the tables around, walk in other people’s shoes). He could have just as easily have commended her for showing the black point of view. People, open up your eyes and minds and think for yourself. 1. Sen. Boxer hates the military. She was trying to shout down a white “one-star general (brigadier)” so the racial aspect didnt need to come into play. Having said that, and since she hates the military (the same one that protects her sorry assss), that leads into reason number 2.

She brought up members of other minority groups that happen to support the bill. They may not be organizations of equal standing, but who cares? What is the big deal of putting into the record groups that support the legislation she is trying to get passed. Sure, they are cherry picked, but who cares… that’s her prerogative. While I respect the gentleman’s service to our country, I think *he* is the one playing the race card, and he should be ashamed of himself. Quoting the NAACP was not racist — that was only ONE of several statements she read. Quoting the NAACP, which did not agree with Alford’s argument, is not condescending. As someone who watched the webcast of the whole thing instead of this video, I think there are other points to be made. What you don’t get from the video is that Sen. Inhofe (R-OK) actually brought up the NAACP to begin with and that this guy was totally backtracking on representing the black community and not. He was TERRIBLE as a witness. If you find her comments condescending, fine, but have some respect for the system and speak when it is your turn. He was constantly interrupting, and offered no plan at all for energy policy even though every 10 seconds he said we need one.

As a neutral – non partisan, I was found that the gentlemen had a bad attitude from the beginning – and was being overly sensitive and offensive to Senator Boxer’s comments. All she was doing was showing the Black Chamber and Commerce President that other Black organizations supported her legislation. As she said – show diversity of opinion within the black community on the issue. There was nothing bigoted and condenscending about her statement. I feel the majority of comments on this post belittling Senator Boxer don’t come from common sense – but partisan emotion.

Just a few more ramblings brought on by my reading “Confidence in God in Times of Danger,” by Alexander Carson.
If God is God, and if we believe He can protect His people even under the worst dictatorship imaginable, then it would seem that so-called civil liberties really do not provide any safety for His people, or anyone else for that matter, without the immediate and direct protection of His almighty arm. Our protection is not in the Constitution, which has been violated time and again since the War Between the States, our true protection comes from God graciously ordaining the liberties we enjoy to serve the establishment of His Kingdom. This means the true Christian has nothing to fear in any country and under any government. If we are called to suffer in the near future under a dictator, we must remember it will be for God’s glory and our good. All of this then seems to imply that Christians must honor even the most worthless men in power. Even a socialist President, one giving the country away, in the end is to be honored, not worshipped, but honored as the leader God has placed in office. And if God should will that this same wicked President persecute the people of God, we must understand God is good and the sin belongs to the persecutor alone. The President might be wickedly gratifying his own evil dispositions, but ultimately he is fulfilling the appointment of God, Who ordains all things. God makes the plans of his enemies to establish His own agenda. Our true safety is in the Lord and in counting all things but loss for the sake of knowing the Lord Jesus Christ. This is also more reason to pray for our President and leaders, because if no one brings them the true gospel of free and sovereign grace, then these men who have actively opposed God’s people will suffer a Christless eternity in Hell. Let us pray that God might be pleased to raise up a whole new crop of truly righteous leaders, set apart by His saving grace, and committed to following the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are now in a situation where those who desire to extricate themselves from the War On Terror, or any other military obligation, may do so by challenging their orders. All one needs to do is question the legitimacy of the alleged president, Soetoro, and they are immediately released. What will you do if all the military want to know the truth? What will you do then? Should not they expect their orders to be legal? Every person in the military should resist, barring absolute proof. If only our military had hundreds of thousands of others with Major Stefan Frederick Cook’s bravery.
Show us, gentlemen, that you, too, have that bravery. Show the American People that you are not just armchair generals, fat and incompetent, happy to collect your paychecks, waiting to retire. Show us that you indeed have some testicular fortitude and the ‘guts’ for which our military is known. Show us you give a damn.
You cannot allow this wound to fester. It is Soetoro, at the top, who must prove himself. Not the other way around. We learn, today, that DOD’s Defense Security Services Agency has demanded that Simtech CEO, Larry Grice, terminate Major Stefan Frederick Cook, and that his security clearances have been revoked. Despicable mistreatment of a true hero. What about the very idea that the military must follow legal orders? How the h ell do they know the orders are legal if they don’t ask? Doesn’t this violate the whistle blower protections afforded anybody who works for the government? Yes, soldiers who work for the military, work for the government.
This hero, Major Cook, swore to uphold the Constitution, not a phony president. For doing his job, for protecting the Constitution, he is felled, as if by an enemy bu llet, but it turns out to be friendly fire. The despicable coward who ordered this treatment of him should be han ged. By destroying Cook, an illegal order is executed; exactly what Cook was trying to avoid.
He is the hero, the patriot, you gentlemen will never be.

This hero, Major Cook, swore to uphold the Constitution, not a phony president. For doing his job, for protecting the Constitution, he is felled, as if by an enemy bu llet, but it turns out to be friendly fire. I do not thing the fact that a Black Chamber of Commerce exists is a bad thing. This is a place where black business owners can have their interests (as a group) addressed. In fact, it probably allows these people who have built and run businesses to be supported by others who are in the same boat as they are.
Boxer’s actions are a case in point. She was basically asking this black man why he was going “off the reservation” so to speak. As if a guy (or an entire organization) that is black cannot possibly disagree with the NAACP. Why… you must not be “down”. You’re a regular “Uncle Tom”. You’re not “really black”. You’re just one of those black guys that’s trying to act white. I may be completely wrong on this (because it is just my experience) but, I’ve seen African Americans treat each other like this. The Black Chamber of Commerce allows these business owners to establish their own community within the African American community. Without it, they’d probably have a hard time moving forward while the “leadership” in the community works to keep them down.
A lot of African’s got very wealthy while they conquered other villages and sold them into slavery. The tap was turned off when slavery was abolished. Similarly, Jackson, Sharpton, etc. would be out of a job if the African American community would ever give the finger to their white liberal slave-owners & overcome once and for all.

But ballots are cast for self-serving reasons only. Continued malfesence of office puts your money into these non-productive voters’ pockets just the same as donations to the DNC dictates which GM dealerships remain open. That, and if there are precincts that could tip the scales to a conservative in a legitimate race, those ballot boxes end up in the bay (See 2004 election), misplaced (every election since 1976), or the outcome is challenged and recounted until the balance sheet miraculously indicates a Socialist-Democrat winner (see most recent MN Senate race). Exceedingly qualified and responsible candidates will continue to loose on election day until voter eligibility is limited to ONLY those who actually PAY taxes on income from NON-GOVERNMENT employers. The highest tax rate in the nation has given us Californians the following: The highest crime rates in the nation, the worst public school system in the nation, the highest unemployment rates in the nation. Boxer is just one example of the type of politician that gets elected here in California.

I agree that Senator Boxer’s approach to the matter was dumb. I don’t see how bringing in the NAACP’s support makes for a compelling case against the NBCC. Racist? Perhaps. But his continuous interruption was annoying and his record of military service is irrelevant. If that’s how we are to qualify someone’s legitimacy then we’re in trouble. Keep it relevant. The whole issue was that Alford was testifying based on study of the topic regardless of what organization he represents. However, Boxer tried to discredit him by simply bringing up another black organization that disagreed with him. She did not display any proof. She was simply using color. That is why he was offended and rightly so.

He is smart and understands this unlike are brain dead politicians like Boxer. What California and the United States need to do is create many thousands of jobs in building refineries and oil rigs. One of the largest oil and natural gas fields on Earth exist 50 miles off the entire coast of California. But the oil companys donate money to groups that stop us from harvesting are own natural resources keeping us poor and in debt as a Nation. Democrats don’t want low income individuals and minorities to have opportunites to attend the best schools. EDUCATION is the great equalizer, and the Democrats are more concerned with keeping the teacher’s unions happy (and ensuring their union votes)than allowing each parent and child to pursue the BEST EDUCATION that they can. Thus, low income and minority students who are being forced by Democrats to attend failing public schools are NOT being given the opportunities to succeed. It’s another way that Democrats can keep thier “wealth and status” and keep minorities on the path to lead less successful lives.
Check out the voting records: Republicans support the school voucher want EVERY AMERICAN to have access to the BEST SCHOOLS, and do not think that low income individuals should be forced to send their children to failing public schools. Minorities need to research this issue and realize that Republicans are the party of equal opportunity and the democrats want to keep minorities permanently in the lower class.

I know Americans heard Henry Alford today. I can only hope Californians will listen to Mr. Alford and shake off the last forty years of toxic “old-ways” dust that Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi so vividly personify. If Californians do so, they have a chance to no longer be people held hostage by these self-serving, millionaire politicians who act like they care about the very poor so that they can pay no more than “lip service” to ‘The Forgotten Man’ – the working people (now many of whom are the unemployed) of California – whatever their respective salaries might be or were.
After forty years, NOTHING, has improved in San Francisco and EVERYTHING has worsened. Poverty is greater, diversity is less, education is worse, small businesses are closed or on life-support. Without a twist of fate, the rich remain rich and those who would like to become rich find it is impossible because they pay out their incomes in high housing costs and higher taxes with nothing left on which to become “rich.” People who earn salaries are taxed at 40% and 50% and 60%. This is an insult and isn’t the least bit fair, it is just an effective way to insure that no one will ever join the “rich” they are just labeled as “rich” because they actually earn a living. Indeed the Boxer/Obama/Pelosi policies insure no one will become “rich” except for those who are already wealthy. That’s why Sen. Boxer, Rep. Pelosi, Sen. Rockefeller, Sen. Kerry (okay he married money), Sen. Snow, and the list goes on, don’t flinch at the programs they advocate – they have already accumulated their money. Notice that none of these folks propose that the IRS reach into a rich person’s net worth and levy taxes on that amount. Notice that these taxpayer paid congress people have exempted themselves from Obama’s plans to take over your medical care and medical insurance. They and their families will still have access to doctors and medical insurance that will not determine and ration their healthcare. TAKE NOTICE. They know that if they can incite black to hate white, democrat to hate republican, middle to class to hate the rich, the poor to hate the middle class, and on and on – they will win. I was an appointee in the Bush Administration (both of them, but my Boxer Incident was in the last one) and I have to say that Boxer is the most despicable U.S. Senator I have ever encountered. She is at least 30 years old (b. 11/11/1940), a US Citizen for 9 years prior to becoming a senator, and a resident of California. Plus, she received more votes than anyone else. Look at the California Assembly and the Governor, neither of which can come to grips with a $24 billion deficit. It appears the voters (at least 60% did) were quite clear on what they wanted the representatives to do.
Speaking of the California State Assembly: it has two bodies, with the Senate having 25 Democrats and 15 Republicans, and the lower house having 49 Democrats, 29 Republicans, 1 Independant (formerly a Democrat), and 1 vacancy.

It’s refreshing to see someone stand up to the demagogs in Congress. I applaud Mr. Alford for being one of the few witnesses in a Senate committee who would not cow-tow to one of their “representatives.” I only wish the CEO’s of Ford, GM and Chrysler would have had as much courage as Mr. Alford and told Congress where they could have put their ideas rather than grovel before them as they did.

Senator Boxer and her staff are the most honest people on capitol hill. When I lived in California, I called her office to voice my opposition to a bill she was supporting. The staffer told me that she and the senator didn’t give a f-word, what I thought. I can truthfully say, that is the most completely honest answer I have ever recieved from a politician.
Here’s the interesting part to me. Somehow, she gets re-elected. Does that say something about her constituents?
Boxer is plain stupid. She did not bring up a diversity based on opinions regarding energy. She brought up a diversity based on race and how those opinions differ within the black community. Disgusting.
I’m not defending Sen. Boxer at all, but if the CEO didn’t want things to be “racial” then why is he the CEO of the Black Chamber of Commerce? Why not be a part of the regular Chamber of Commerce? Why does there have to be a seperate COC based on race?

Most of you have missed the point: the California brigade engineering the financial demise of our country will never be voted out of office.
All the rational people that lived in California have relocated to Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming and Montana. The only voters left are the ones that don’t speak English the Hollywood crowd and those citizens that have no right hand.
Most likely, the current group of Representatives and Senators from California will pass away from old age while still being in office.
