After 45 min I kept wondering when Massa would drop a bombshell or at least more dirt or something but it never happened..

Glenn is a good commentator/analyst, but he can’t interview worth a damn.

First time I’ve ever listened to Beck and it was indeed a waste of time for Beck, but it was time well spent for Obama because Massa, who was remarkably well spoken and didn’t stray from the party line, played Beck like a Stradivarius making him look like an ill-prepared boob.

I’d love to know how much of our stimulus money that little creep Massa is taking home with him — judging from his merry smile, it must be considerable.

I was kinda wondering also why he wouldn’t be more specific about anything except tickling some other guy at a bachelor party. I actually thought Glenn did a good job with the interview. We didn’t learn anything new about congress, the white house or corruption, but what we did get some good sound bites from Beck. The burning building analogy, the stand and fight analogy. It wasn’t a waste of my time at all ~ it was a full blown display of what kind of people are in Washington. Messa is just messier and less polished than the rest of them.

Beck needed to take control of the interview, and ask Massa “how has the White House and Nancy Pelosi threatened your family?”

Massa did not give Glenn any new information. Glenn tried to drill down and get something specific.
Most of us realize that the specifics are the daily deals made between our folks in congress. Favor for favor is exchanged. The problem is that these favors wind up costing the taxpayer. The longer a person is in the congress the more power they gain, more favors are due to them from others, and the more dirt they have on the other guy etc, etc.. If you want something, you have to play the game!
I truly believe that TERM LIMITS would help with this problem.

I felt sorry for Massa. While I do believe him, he is obviously under so much stress that he is not able to think straight. He rambled, didn’t respond well to questions and really seem rattled. With that said, if there was a time for Beck to stop being silly and uber-sarcastic. This was it. Massa obviously couldn’t folow Glenn’s wit. That didn’t help – it just made him more confused and kept the truth from getting out. It was there, but never made it out. Beck could have done a much better job with this interview. It reminded me of the time he wasted with Sarah Palin – when for 20 minutes he kept saying “but, can I trust you?”.

Where are the “statesmen”. This administration is out for themselves. The “people” are just in the way.

It was one of the worst interviews I have ever watched. Beck was pathetic: terrible questions, no follow up, more of a series of Beckian posturing about some joke only he got. Why didn’t he ask Massa a series of specific pointed questions: what did the President say to you; what did Nancy Pelosi promise you; what have you heard from your colleagues about the pressure put on them…? What a waste of an opportunity to tear back the White House/Congress code of silence. Beck is too full of himself.

U missed the mark Glenn – we did learn something that affects the people – Massa admitted on your show that they spend 5-7 hrs a day calling begging for money – and they’re told how to do it better with coaches (no doubt paid to do so with Gov’t. money) – so HOW DOES THAT NOT AFFECT THE PEOPLE – it does – and there were many other things learned from your show today – if you would listen – and be an interviewer, rather than an ‘activist’ – I love your show – and today was the 1st time I really said – ‘Hey – follow up on that comment – what about that?’ So – I was sort of offended when you didn’t really take a moment to stop thinking ahead about how to ‘get him to say what you wanted to hear’ and listen to what he was saying and form questions in response to the things he WAS SAYING. The only time that was wasted, in my opinion, was the time you spent railing on things he either wasn’t going to or couldn’t say anything about – and not noticing the things he said and delve into those things – specifically about the ‘bribery’ thing – ‘it’s legal’ isn’t a reason that it should go on – how about investigating how to get that stopped? Or at least asking for names on that issue then?

Just my opinions here – but I really wasn’t thrilled with your interviewing skills here – cause you seemed to have an ‘agenda’ of your own here – rather than really going with a ‘live interview’ where you react and ask according to whats said.

Served with Massa in Navy for 2 years. Have not seen him for nearly 20 years. I do not like him, and foul language is only one of his many flaws. He himself is a bully and thug and hides behind his office. I know that if he wasn’t a commissioned officer, he would have gotten a serious beatdown. He ran the Beck show and didn’t provide a single gleaming light of anything that wasn’t already known or suspected. No smoking gun. He didn’t understand what Glenn wanted? Give me a break. He drove that 55 minutes the way he wanted. It was the E.E. MASSA Show, and Glenn was gracious. I kept expecting Glenn to throw him off the show. Laura Ingraham had it right earlier today regarding Massa, she said, even a broken watch tells the correct time twice a day.

Massa didn’t just show up in the House of Representatives one day; somebody had to think he should be in Congress. I really don’t think that it was a waste of time, but I also see how it didn’t pan out the way it was expected to. Maybe Massa changed his mind about uncovering specific incidents of corruption and/or illegal activity.

However, today I watched about 5 minutes of Glen’s interview and for the first time in over a year shut him down and changed the Channel. Since I TIVO his show every day I would have done the same thing if I had gotten home too late to see him live. Glen does not need to be defended by the likes of me. A good interview depends on both parties. Glenn did not waste our time. He gave Massa every opportunity to say what he wanted, but Massa was a clam. Glenn didn’t want to be confrontational on this one. Sometimes waterboarding is necessary, however.

In short, it was not an interview. Beck did not ask questions and then allow them to be answered to then follow-up on that answer and so on. He spent far too much time setting up each segment. He talked too much and failed to listen. He was dismissive, distant, impatient, and disbelieving. He repeated the same thing over and over about how he couldn’t believe Massa when he never allowed Massa to finish his thought. This was just Beck obsessed with Beck. I wondered when he would finally trip over his ego and this was it.

However, in light of his usual content and his history of excellence, I’ll forgive this one. But if he pulls his ego trip on someone like that again, Massa is obviously in trouble, then I’ll dismiss him as another O Reilly (a selfish demagogue who spend his free time alone in a bathroom, pants down, with pictures of himself).

I haven’t yet seen the show (recorded it). But from the clip shown, I believe the headline here is wrong. Because it doesn’t sound like Massa is backpedaling – it sounds like Beck initially misunderstood what Massa was saying. Of course, the show may prove otherwise, but as of now, seems like the real story is in Massa, because I agree – the entire Democrat party has been poking its collective finger in We The People’s chest demanding that we take it on faith that they’re really doing We the People’s business instead of giving We the People the business. Do not pay attention to this, out of the ordinary, approach to the Health Care Tango, between Massa and Emmanuel. All this is the product of a little noisy quarrel among friends.

Beck did the best he could trying to corral a weasel. Then, he apologized for failing. A for effort, but ultimately a waste of time. The only thing I learned was that either only weasels make it to Washington, or Rahm “Dead Fish” Emmanuel made Massa an offer he couldn’t refuse, at the last minute. I’m thinking it is a combination of both.

The first 20 minutes or so, I just wanted to hear what the man had to say instead of all Beck’s caveats! I’ve always thought of Glenn Beck as an extremely sincere person trying to save our country from demise. I don’t know what to think after seeing this interview today. What happened? I couldn’t figure out what Beck was trying to do. In the beginning of the show he wouldn’t let Massa answer a single question. The momentum would start to build and he’d stop everything to take a break. Back from the break he’d painfully, slowly begin talking about what was just talked about. It was excruciating to watch the minutes go by while Beck devoured the whole show with his own personality, depriving his guest of any opportunity to say his piece. No doubt Matthews will experience more than a “tingle up his leg.”
Glen, don’t be too upset. Who else among your peers would have had the guts to do what you did on live TV….none! Valuable lessons were certainly learned from this incident. It appeared to me that Glenn failed to get what he expected from former Representative Massa likely for the same reason that people back away from a challenging interaction: They are not feeling as though they are being granted the opportunity to speak.

Interestingly, it was only during the last two or three minutes of the program — after Glenn “gave up” getting what he was after — that Rep. Massa seemed to feel free enough to begin providing the opportunities that could have been used to gently probe with “Tell me more about what you mean when you say that Rahm Emanual is good at making enemies.” That kind of “tell me more” interaction not only could have assured Rep. Massa that he was being “listened to” but also could have comfortably and productively guided the conversation in a way that would likely have elicited the very things Glenn was interrupting to obtain — specific examples.

No, the interview was not a waste. For me it was a re-affirmation that adopting the kind of “go-my-way” conversational tactics that Bill O’Reilly appears to be adopting is not all that productive — as well as less than civil.

It was a great hour of television. I was glued to the screen and saw Beck as a frustrated interviewer who could not get the “smoking gun” but still revealed a tragic figure in Massa. No matter if the naked Emmanuel or frakkin remark is true or even worse than he says, he reveals that the corruption in DC is larger than we might even think. I think of all things that Beck should be proud of is that he gave the guy a chance to come clean and Massa blew it.

Actually after listening to the segment above, it’s not all that bad. As Trudy says, maybe Glen didn’t get red meat, but that’s okay. Even if Massa got free face time it’s not a loss, just another day in the business.

What is Beck’s goal?
Besides attempting to individually profit as much as possible by spewing as divisive as possible ignorant statements, Beck interjects the belief that America is seriously broken, being led by Mao-loving communists/socialists, and must be fixed right away or doom is certain to occur.

And so what does Beck offer or do in an attempt to help stop doom from occurring and resolve the complex challenges facing our country and world? What does he do this day?
He dedicates an entire show to a failed former Republican, now failed former Democrat Representative, and potential criminal perpetrator who spent most of his time with Beck offering probably more self-incrimination rather than the ‘system is failing dirt’ Beck desires so much so as to hike his divisive-based ratings.

And what would have Beck done should Massa have actually revealed anything of tangible substance showing how failed our government system is? (Even though Massa himself is really the best example for showing such.)
Would Beck have used such evidence to hold constructive dialogue sessions that might lead to fixes for the complex problems facing us?
Hell no he wouldn’t!
He’d simply use any ‘dirt’ Massa reveals and exploit it in the way that would be most supportive to his divisive commentary against those whose ideas he disagrees with.
Would Beck offer any tangible solutions to the problems facing our country – Not just his personal endorsement of Freedom and Liberty? (Because we all know that only true conservatives respect the value and strength of Freedom and Liberty – and because we all know that complex political/social/financial problems can all be resolved via a plan that implements Freedom and Liberty.)

And I read thru these comments and not one – NOT ONE comment regarding what Massa said was the single most important thing needed to bring about change.
And that was what folks? (Most probably can’t say because they wanted to hear more shower-stories)
It was that nothing – NOTHING – will change without FINANCE REFORM. And while Massa is indeed a failed former Republican, now failed former Democrat Representative, and potential criminal perpetrator, this is at least one thing he is correct about.

The tipping point for Glenn was when Massa made a joke that he would put his own family on the front of the train and not Emmanuel.

You could see Glenn’s face change at that moment. No man who cherishes his own family would make a joke about putting them in harm’s way.

Hello! Glenn is not a very tough interviewer. I mean, I love the guy, but that’s not his forte. When he interviews someone, even when he disagrees with them, he tries to find common ground, and work with that and build from there. He’s a different type of interview. If you want to get drilled, go on Bill O’Reilly. If you want to try and get a sense for the soul of a person, Glenn’s your man.

Glenn its not the first time you wasted our time. Actually I enjoyed listening to the Congressman, even though you kept warning him not to lie to you. You were lucky to get him on your show. You have had some sleepers before, and even some of the shows you ask us to call our neighbors to watch have been embarrassingly dull. You should have thanked Massa for coming on ,had to be one of your highest rated shows.

I think Congress and the White House have much more on Massa than has come out. He made a deal with them if they would not reveal any more on him that he would go on 2 talk shows, Beck’s and King’s, and “sort of” recant, making them look innocent and himself just a basket case, which is what Pelosi is already doing when she said he’s a sick man. Plus, it helps reinforce the fact that if any more dare to vote no, the enforcers will step on their necks. I love Beck. He usually is interesting, giving us something fresh and new. He is not a nut, as the Chicago crowd would like us to believe, but just a passionate man! Hope he stays around forever!

Massa gave Beck plenty of stuff to go on. Just because he didn’t name names doesn’t mean he didn’t say anything. Beck couldn’t have thought that the guy was going to go out there and say that Pelosi offered him a mansion in the Hamptons for his vote. I like Beck and think he does a service for America, but for god sakes Beck, stop doing interviews…it’s not your strong point. What also got me confused was how Beck said he had wasted the people’s time…he shouldn’t have invited the guy on the show! That’s not news — HOWEVER he said that each one is given a list of people to call and coached on how to be effective. He also said they were required to give the leadership a tally on the number of calls made each hour and how much money was raised. Silly me — I thought our representatives worked for us, not the leadership. Maybe we need to explore and expose this a bit more. Paying $175,000 a year for someone to become a fundraiser and a glorified clerk for the leadership is not acceptable. No wonder bills end up being written in some dark room by “faceless persons” and not ever read by our representatives. This would make a great special report.

When your dealing with trash like Massa, this is what your going to get. Beck should have nailed his a– to the wall. But like most TV talk show host, everyone goes a little easy on these guys. I would “love” for just once, to see a host get down and dirty with these guys. Let me do a interview with some of these guys. When it was over with they would be in tears.

Massa did not represent himself well, even though all he wanted to speak of was “himself”. He is a whiner, not a winner. Better off with him outside Congress. His intellect appears wanting along with his ability to express himself as a Congressman. I expect more from our representatives. He never named names, other than one. Nevertheless, he is an embarrassment as a representative and should be gone. As for his lovely wife, sorry lady, you are probably doing the best you can in a very difficult circumstance. One item I took away was that at least 50% of our reps time is spent seeking funding. No wonder not much gets done in Congress, they are spending much of their time trying to maintain their service. It is what we thought it was – representatives are spending less than 50% of their time on the country’s business. That alone is reason for concern.

Glenn is never a waste of time. With that said, let me also add:

I don’t understand how left-leaning viewers can make comments against BECK. They don’t like Glenn, I understand that. They don’t share the same history (American) as Glenn. I get that. But then why do they watch Glenn? Seems kinda stupid to me. If you’re Jewish, why would you watch a Catholic Service on Sunday morning?

Beck was completely out of his league here. He was so unprepared at every turn. At one point Massa stated Campaign Finance Reform was the main problem in DC and Beck just about sat there and drooled with nothing to say.

Beck had preconceived ideas of what the real issue was and at every turn Beck was shot down. This resulted in Beck failing to have anything to say. Beck’s saying he had wasted America’s should apply to every hour of every show he has produced. He did not try to get at the truth in this interview and he never does. He applies preexisting conclusions and takes facts to shape them to his end beliefs in everything he says. To do this is not a scientific method of discovery therefore the end result does not reflect what was truly discovered along the way
