Gingrich: ‘Romney Extraordinarily Insensitive To Religious Freedom In America’

"I think Governor Romney is extraordinarily insensitive to religious freedom in America. I frankly didn't know about the Kosher food being cut out by Governor Romney until the New York Post reported it."

Dr_Funk   January 31st, 2012 - 12:30 am

I always hate Carl Cameron's blatantly slanted "highlights" of whatever is going on in politics. He's a prime example of how un-conservative the mainstream coverage is at Fox.

M-I-DOUBLE TIZZLE   January 31st, 2012 - 1:21 am

"Romney Extraordinarily Insensitive To Religious Freedom In America"

…and there's the kitchen sink. What basis in reality does that statement spawn from?
Is Romney anti Semitic now?
Nothing left but to make this about religion.
The panic palpable.

Aaron11   January 31st, 2012 - 1:37 am

…said the man who is literally financially backed by large anti-Mormon groups.

M-I-DOUBLE TIZZLE   January 31st, 2012 - 1:44 am

Religion at it's core is a good thing theoretically , but in the hands of man it's just another vehicle to be distorted.

Aaron11   January 31st, 2012 - 2:05 am

True. Men are fallible and subject to corruption, but evil has always attempted to distort truth. I believe organization is necessary to defeat evil. Peace and prosperity has never come from chaos, nor have good people fallen because of the concept of organization. Following the correct voice is what is key. We've all been given the power of discernment between good and evil, and we must use it constantly these days.

Stinger18   January 31st, 2012 - 2:07 am

In typical Obama/Alinsky fashion, take what your opponent can directly pin on you, and simply accuse your opponent of it first! The main reason why people in fundamentalist and catholic churches across America would not vote for Romney… religious bigotry! Romney is a Morman. Newt tapped into this bigotry in South Carolina and won. He now realizes he's going to have to use it more often to gain any ground on Romney. This is Newt's preemptive accusation and attack, to cover up his behind the scenes smear campaign against Mormanism. Alinsky would be proud.

syvyn11   January 31st, 2012 - 2:11 am

Mitt: "Newt is evil!"

Newt: "Mitt is evil!"

GUYS, don't tell us how bad the other is! TELL US HOW BAD OBAMA IS!

Stinger18   January 31st, 2012 - 2:18 am

Talk about pealing back an onion… Newt IS THE ONION! Calling himself "the legitimate heir of the Reagan movement"… that's hillarious!

rckmom   January 31st, 2012 - 2:34 am

The way that Romney stabs Newt in the back with a smile on his face, is just one reason, that MY vote today, won't be for Mitens!!!! I don't see Newt thinking that the statements he is making about Romney are funny!!!

Now…GET SERIOUS, and tell us what YOUR PLANS are for OUR country!!!

Bearmaul   January 31st, 2012 - 2:35 am

This is just getting dumber by the day, both the candidates going after each other and these liberal trolls who think anyone gives a crap what they have to post about it.

Last night CBS evening news interviewed another so called Tea Party leader from Florida who said he wouldn't vote for Romney no matter what and that 4 more years of Obama would leave people desperate for a conservative candidate, maybe he has a point, the republican establishment could care less about myself or my conservative views, they've come to depend upon my vote no matter who they nominate and why should I vote for a candidate who'll destroy this country a little slower than the socialist in charge now.

And just what kind of religion is Grinch referring to? Could it be the religion of marital infidelity and lying to the American public.

Newt is the last person to lecture about religion or anything to do with a moral code of ethics.

donkeysnake   January 31st, 2012 - 3:42 am

Yeah, and I didn't know the Gingrich's had run up a quarter of a million dollars in debt to Tiffany's until the Post reported that.

In case you're wondering if I'm more worried about President Romney hating Jews or President Newt spending too much money, it ain't the first one.

rckmom   January 31st, 2012 - 3:47 am

"In case you're wondering if I'm more worried about President Romney hating Jews "….really??? Haven't we had enough HATRED from the Obama debacle!!??? If Newt is spending money, it's HIS money to spend!

Bearmaul   January 31st, 2012 - 4:57 am

People of faith operate in a climate of forgivness and redemtion, something liberalism never practices and the reason why you're so confused about it.

Bearmaul   January 31st, 2012 - 5:01 am

"In case you're wondering if I'm more worried about President Romney hating Jews or President Newt spending too much money, it ain't the first one."

You're not worried because hate comes easily and hatred towards those of the jewish faith comes automatically to people who subscribe to liberalism and the reason you worry about Newt and Money is, well he has money and you don't.

SMZ99   January 31st, 2012 - 5:03 am

It's really sad. It's like watching your crazy uncle slip into full blown insanity.

SMZ99   January 31st, 2012 - 5:10 am

Catholics aren't so anti-Mormon as you think. Just because Newt has gone cuckoo. A two time divorced, serial cheater, convert to Catholicism doesn't speak for Americans who are Catholic.

SMZ99   January 31st, 2012 - 5:22 am

4 more years and there will be more and more voters depending on big government to give them handouts… and why would they then vote for someone who's going to cut them off?

No, the time to stop the Obamatrain is now.

SMZ99   January 31st, 2012 - 5:24 am

Exactly… Mr Twice Divorced serial cheater.

About as moral as you can get!

SMZ99   January 31st, 2012 - 5:25 am

Mitt doing something to a Kosher menu is nothing compared to what Obama's doing to Israel and our only true ally in the middle east!

PushHereToFlush   January 31st, 2012 - 5:43 am

I wonder how Newt chased those pesky Mormon kids off of his front porch?

LibertyWriter   January 31st, 2012 - 6:06 am

I guess you RoboRomniacs do not like taking the peel of the onion. Denying Kosher meals to a Jew is anti semitic plain and simple, How would you like for Obama to take away Communion?

LibertyWriter   January 31st, 2012 - 6:06 am

OffDuty   January 31st, 2012 - 7:09 am

FIRST thing Florida…..IGNORE the polls. These same whoremasters had Romney beating Newt in South Carolina, and what happened? That's right, Newt swept the floor with Romney's face.

In your hearts, you know that Romney is a RINO, and that Newt is the real deal.

Ask yourselves why is it that the elitist media are going so light handed on Romney? It's because they know Romney is McCain warmed over, and will be much easier to beat in the general election.

The elitists also know that Newt is the biggest threat to "big government", and that obuffoona doesn't stand a chance in a debate with him.

VOTE Newt….Like your children's lives depend on it!

kmichaels   January 31st, 2012 - 7:18 am

Again, the most remarkable thing about Newt supporters is that
they have been so quick to backstab past conservative allies
such as those at Fox, simply because they do not support Newt.

This is very telling when the personality of a Newt supporter
tends to be similar to that of Newt himself, mainly them being
prone to backstab co-workers and allies if they do not agree
with them on every specific.

kmichaels   January 31st, 2012 - 7:20 am

So, with comments like yours, we're supposed to think the Newt crowd is
familiar with and supports religious freedom?
Oh, the irony of it all.

kmichaels   January 31st, 2012 - 7:21 am

In my heart I know that Newt supporters use the term
RINO the way liberals use the term RACIST.
It no longer has any meaning. Especially when Newt
is every bit a RINO as the next guy, if not more.

Stinger18   January 31st, 2012 - 7:26 am

I'm a big Tea Party supporter and did have a huge amount of respect for Palin. Unfortunately the Tea Party DID NOT produce a candidate! The closest viable candidate with Tea Party ideals was Paul Ryan. As soon as Ryan stood up in the national spotlight as a fiscal leader, Newt the Narcissist knocked him down! Something we would fully expect from Obama and Democrats, but it came from Newt Gingrich! Even back then Newt wanted to make sure Ryan was elimated as a potential oponent in his march to the Whitehouse. Newt the self absorbed, arrogant, blowhard, is not the conservative he claims to be, not even close.

amanuensis   January 31st, 2012 - 7:26 am

There is a huge abyss between religious tolerance and actually kowtowing to the perverts and demon-worshiping among us.
We were and may once again be a Hebraic/Christian nation that tolerates people of disparate beliefs, but now we are actually mocking God and promoting these demonic beliefs in lieu of Christianity.
We do not merely tolerate homosexuality, we actually promote it. We worship the practice. Look no further than hollywood or TV to see that this is true. We kill 1,000,000 little American children each year and say that this is a good thing. No, it is a Satanic rite – the virgin sacrifice – but we ignore this and kill them and are proud of it. And yes, Pride is one of the seven deadly sins.

Romans 1:28
And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

ruknuts   January 31st, 2012 - 7:35 am

Tea Party Ticket– Colbert/Cain/Newt and now Palin what a Meltdown – Must be the witches. except for Colbert he knows it's a joke.
Seriously Newt over Rick S, what the hell and you folks are conservative!!! Guess that translates in TEA party to " use only dollar bills at strip joints".

Stinger18   January 31st, 2012 - 7:42 am

Gingrich is so desperate, now he's offering positions in his make believe administration in exchange for endorsements. He bought Herman Cain's endorsement with the idea of implementing some of Cain's 999 plan. No doubt he's offered something to Palin as well.

ShawnSen   January 31st, 2012 - 7:50 am

MItt Romney is the worst possible candidate to go up against Obama

Independents will not see a difference between him and Obama

Duckwalker   January 31st, 2012 - 8:08 am

I love it. While the back and forth bickering sometimes turns petty and ridiculous, as in this case, bring it on. I don’t believe for one minute because Mitt cut the Kosher to save tax payer money that equates to him being ‘extraordinarily’ insensitive to religious freedoms in America, but if Newt thinks so, then great, it's fine by me, let him throw it out there, it’s one more tidbit for the voters to examine and decide on. And one more tidbit for Mitt to deal with now rather than later.

smoke ranch   January 31st, 2012 - 8:09 am

Now that is a lie. Pure and simple. Mormons know quite a bit about religious insinisitivity. Go back and read about the treatment of Mormons before the forced expulsions from Nauvoo Illinois. Or Missouri. Or Ohio. Or New York. Newt is not nearly as smart as he wishes he were.

Bearmaul   January 31st, 2012 - 8:12 am

You must have an extemely poor opinion of the American people and the spirit that inhabits them to even think they would prefer a meager handout versus a good life.

smoke ranch   January 31st, 2012 - 8:13 am

Trust me on this one, Mormons do not hate Jews. Quite ths oppisite.

Bearmaul   January 31st, 2012 - 8:20 am

Exactly, same type of liberalism just a slower rate of decline but a decline nontheless under Romney, why should I live under the establishment propaganda fear that 4 more years of Obama destroys this nation any more than Romney would, I think 4 more years of Obama would destroy progressive liberalism faster than progressive liberalism can destroy this nation, Obamacare will be decided by the Supremes and a divided congress will keep Obama in check just enough to prevent him from damaging this country more than he damages liberal progressivism.

Bearmaul   January 31st, 2012 - 8:21 am

You're not the only one starting to wonder about Andrew……

nceeno   January 31st, 2012 - 8:24 am

No one can be that dumb and I take offense that you think we are.
I realize that 48% of the country stil blames Bush while only 45% blame the poser, but come on.
Independents are smarter than that…which is why we belong to neither party.

nceeno   January 31st, 2012 - 8:26 am

Rasmussen polls show the poser beating every possible candidate.
Small wonder this country is so screwed up.

LibertyWriter   January 31st, 2012 - 8:31 am

When a reporter of the news becomes a commentator, the public suffers. The sheer egotism that 'they' are so much smarter than 'us' and news has to be explained so that it could be understood is insulting.

LibertyWriter   January 31st, 2012 - 8:34 am

It is not Obama I fear, its the systemic decadence that Obama and Romney supporters represent. We need to fix this nation, not just win an election. This is not the Super Bowl, this is the entire American way of life.

islandwatch   January 31st, 2012 - 8:40 am

How do you like him now? No one has to lie about Newt , just point out the truth or draw attention to some of his exaggerated claims. If Newt is becoming unhinged now, what would happen against the Dems. Time to move on and worry about the real campaign ahead and the vote in 9 short months.

Bearmaul   January 31st, 2012 - 8:48 am

I couldn't agree more! If Romney wins the presidency the general public will not notice much of a difference between him and Obama and that could mean another destructive liberal progressive in the Whitehouse in another 4 to 8 years and America's decline will continue, an Obama win might just be the wakeup call America needs to survive, I truly believe give Obama enough time and he will destroy the progressive movement, look at OWS as an example.

Myself, I will be toying with writing in Paul Ryans name come november if Romney is the nominee, the establishment republicans can no longer dismiss my conservative viewpoints and still count on my vote.

Bearmaul   January 31st, 2012 - 8:50 am

Yeah I read Andrews book, mostly a "Look at me, look at me." exposition. Build a rocket and fly to the moon I'm impressed but stop using drugs and turn conservative is a familiar tale.

LibertyWriter   January 31st, 2012 - 9:13 am

I'm not one to spew out my personal opinion, as readers here will attest <G> but here goes. With the preponderance of the evidence: imploding of the Euro, the mass migration of muslims to Europe, the massive debt here in America, the explosion of the entitlement community, riots in the streets, the brain dead media, marxism in education, decadence in Hollywood, food additives, Lite Beer, have I left anything out?; it is close to the time to pack up and move out to the hills. If Newt wins, I'll stay and work to drive the liberal devils out of the USA just like Rep. West says. If Romney is elected it will just slow the decline. This old cowboy will be looking for that nice, quiet, remote mountain valley.

NunChucks   January 31st, 2012 - 9:22 am

I agree, but I was going to say grandma instead of uncle. She cut her white hair really short as she went off the deep end just before she passed. I wish we could post pictures. She looked exactly like Newt.

NunChucks   January 31st, 2012 - 9:28 am

True, Mormons are highly regarded by Conservative Catholics. They do a remarkable service to mankind in their charitable work across the world. I've worked with them side by side in Catholic Charities. Per capita they donate more money and man hours than any other religion, I'm sorry to say as a Catholic. Their doctrines are theirs, but their charity is toward all.

NunChucks   January 31st, 2012 - 9:32 am

You mean he could be redeemed by the Blood of Christ. That is between Newt and our Savior.

Big_Toe   January 31st, 2012 - 9:40 am

I'm with Newt… this war on religion must end.
Is the enemy in Afghanistan or is it really in…
Utah!!!!

NunChucks   January 31st, 2012 - 10:02 am

I have to agree. Few faiths have received such brutal treatment and the Mormons, for all they've suffered, are a remarkably kind and charitable people. They quietly took a massive beating for all of us over proposition 8 and I'm ashamed to say we let them do it with little help.

LibertyWriter   January 31st, 2012 - 10:03 am

Dr_Funk   January 31st, 2012 - 11:09 am

"Now that is a lie."

How is it a lie? Romney vetoed a bill that would have granted funding to supply Kosher meals to Jewish residents already living in state-funded nursing homes.

If the state is going to promise funding, they should accommodate everyones' dietary needs, not flip the Jewish community the bird.

Dr_Funk   January 31st, 2012 - 11:14 am

"Few faiths have received such brutal treatment…"

…as the Jewish community. Six million slaughtered like animals. Two-thirds of the entire world's Jewish population was wiped out in the holocaust. Many of the elderly Jewish community who escaped and survived the holocaust are now living here in the US, and we promise them nursing home care, and then tell them we refuse to provide them Kosher meals?

"You can violate your faith or starve to death." That's what Romney effectively told these Jewish nursing home residents.

Dr_Funk   January 31st, 2012 - 11:19 am

And I take offense that you don't have the sack to commit to a party. I find it incredibly offensive that people like you refuse to outright support or repudiate liberalism, that you refuse to support or repudiate conservatism. If you wish to moderate between liberalism and conservatism, you're either a sackless coward (like the Republican establishment), or you're a moron. Which is it?

The idea that independents are smarter because they refuse to align themselves with a party is downright ridiculous. It indicates nothing of the sort. It shows an unwillingness to stand for anything. And that proves cowardice. "I'm too much of a coward to take a stand and risk offending someone, so I'll take no stand at all and reserve the right to be fickle."

LibertyWriter   January 31st, 2012 - 11:43 am

I am counting on that but preparing for the worst.

Stinger18   January 31st, 2012 - 11:52 am

Yes I know Breitbart has become the Newt Network. So what, I'll take the hits and continue to post my opinion and opposition to Newt. He's unelectible against Obama. I'm a life long independent conservative, and I have supported the Tea Party candidates. Newt, the part-time conservative, part-time liberal/progressive, adopted the Tea Party for his own selfish reasons.

Your 3rd grade liberal education on what is cowardice makes me laugh though, but it is all wrong.

leslie_gaea   January 31st, 2012 - 3:15 pm

You need to discern the difference between forgiveness and gullibility. How many times can you forgive a grown adult who commits sin after sin. Romney has been married for 40 years through hell and high water, in contrast.

Newt has been a shading K-street politician and lobbyist his entire life. Even Reagan described him as nothing more than a political opportunist.

Bearmaul   January 31st, 2012 - 7:54 pm

Gullible is a great word, you should learn from it. How many times has Newt asked for forgivness, how many times has he cheated since becoming a catholic, I'll give you a hint, it was a number unknown to the world until the Spanish entered the world of the Inca's. I'm not going to enter a fake Reagan saying because I'm not a troll, I'm also not that big of a fan of Newt but I am a bigger fan of Newt than of Romney.

Dr_Funk   February 1st, 2012 - 1:46 am

You don't get a red tag like that by criticizing Newt. kmicheals spends every post shilling for Romney and ripping on Newt, and he's still sitting in the 120s.

No, you're a troll…either that or a nut, as judged by your peers here on this site.

donkeysnake   February 13th, 2012 - 4:19 pm

I think all you guys missed my point.

My point was that Romney won't be insensitive to religion (as he's being accused of in the story above), and Newt WILL blow our cash much faster than he blows his own, which is really, really fast.

The reason I'm not worried about Romney being anti-semitic is because he isn't. The reason I'm worried about Newt being a big spender is because he is.
