There was some pretty loud protesting and rude behavior at the Tea Parties. Everybody has a right to protest in this country whether we agree with their cause or not. I don’t hate homosexuals, I just strongly disagree with them. I want to protect my right to protest by protecting their right to protest. By labeling the the reason for a protest as “wrong” is counterproductive to the conservative cause. We cannot shout, “Hear OUR voice!”, then turn around and shout, “Shut THEM up”! Just remember how infruiating it was to be labeled as astroturf, and how we were dismissed as crazy racist. I think 2010 will be a year full of protesting. We better understand its significance to our freedom and allow the same for others. If not, we are undermining our cause, and we will be seen (justifiably so) as blatant hypocrites.

Was this a private function that these people invaded? That makes all the difference. Invading private functions is not valid protest — it is deliberate intimidation based on fear tactics — “I’ll get what I want by intimidating you into submission.” Valid political protest must not be shut down, but I find it interesting how conservative protestors at recent Tea Parties have been reviled by the Left. Those protests were at public events and were entirely peaceful. They were also completely relevant and properly related to government issues, i.e., excessive federal control that the Constitution simply does not give the federal government. The Left’s protests apparently are always valid in their own humble opinion regardless of the where and when and who and what; but conservatives somehow aren’t afforded the same right and are even called frauds and Nazis by elected officials in Washington. Listen up, you so-called “progressives” — when you give so much control to the govt., it will eventually control every aspect of your life. It will finally reach a level of control that even YOU will not be able to tolerate.

What I’m most concerned with is the willingness of Americans to give up their personal freedoms & the US Govt. actively taking freedoms (a la the HealthCare monstrosity) —this incident highlights the problems clearly.

Wow! What a group of compassionate people! I feel sorry for any of your relatives who are gay and forced to remain in the closet because they see what intolerant, cruel and hateful folks they have in their family. Gays are just like everyone else, they want to love, be loved, have a family that loves them, work, spend time with friends, etc.

I’m sure it’s hard to understand what it’s like to be gay if you’re heterosexual. I have a couple gay family members and since they were children I knew something was different. It’s easy to criticize and marginalize things that you are afraid of or don’t understand, but to deny someone certain rights that the general population enjoys is just wrong. What would be the consequence of affording gays the right to marry? That should be the discussion, not the knee-jerk reaction that it’s wrong-you need to back up your argument.

Point #1-The gay protesters tend to be very inappropriate with how they handle their protests. There is a time and a place for everything and I find they continuously choose the wrong place and the wrong time.
Point #2-The protesters who want same sex marriage are not asking for anything more than what straight couples enjoy. What is wrong with letting them marry?
Point#3-This Hiram Monserrate is obviously a terrible individual; slashing his girlfriends face! This issue and that of gay rights should not be mixed; it lessens the importance of both issues.

Lets start opening our eyes and hearts to the bigger picture, which is enjoying what life we have left to live.
