I find it quite entertaining that many of the folks on these comments are comparing Obama’s intelligence to Mrs Palin. Palin gratuated from North Idaho Community College and received a BS in Communications with an emphasis on journalism from the University of Idaho. Well, I love Sarah Palin. Her speech made perfect sense. And the audience member at the end said she offered a positive alternative, that America is not “finished.” Bravo, for Sarah!

All these Sarah bashers are pathetic. Calling her dumb? That’s the typical liberal response to conservative logic. Sarah says that government enabled Wall Street to essentially rape the taxpayer by forcing banks to loosen lending standards and keeping interest artificially low. She rightly pointed out that ratings agencies understated risk and that Wall Street came up with ways to capitalize on the housing bubble. There is much blame to go around. Sarah is the only one talking this way.

Furthermore, the liberal lie that the repeal of Glass-Steagall (signed by Clinton, no less) was the cause of this mess … is another typical fallacy. The banks that SURVIVED this mess were fully integrated financial companies. The main one that failed? Lehman Brothers, a stand alone investment firm, circa pre-Glass Steagall.

The reason for this mess is government meddling. If we didn’t have the implicit loan guarantees of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac … we’d have been a lot better off. These agencies are embarrassments. They were under mandates to traffic in trillions worth of risky mortgage loans. They’re the rotten core of the credit implosion.
